Sat at the bar, no wait. I ordered the tomato basil Bisque and the grilled bacon wrapped shrimp skewers and veggies. The Bisque was probably one of the best I've ever had. Rich, flavorful, and filling. The shrimp was awesome, but I could've used a little more char on my bacon. The veggies were good, gave me lots, couldn't finish. The bartender made a pretty good Old Fashioned too. I'll definitely go back!. A week later and I'm back! Sat at the bar again, no wait. This time I had the ribeye with mushrooms and demi glaze sauce, risotto, and that damn tomato basil soup. The soup was delicious again, but could've stood a little heat. It was just a tad warmer than room temp...the steak was good, not the best I've had, and I'm not totally sure it was worthy of the $56 price tag. The risotto was, well...risotto...nothing special, and it didn't suck. I may go back and try the Wellington. Also had a nice glass of Malbec.
Holdren's serves the best salmon with tropical fruit medley with mashed potatoes. It just has a great blend of flavors. My husband chose filet medallions with the twice baked potato. When the meals arrived we decided to split both so we could enjoy both types of food. DELICIOUS 😋 The perfect ending to celebrate our anniversary was the cheesecake that just melted in our mouths. Great service and ambiance too!!
I was here for a company holiday party and will definitely visit again for when I'm in the Thousand Oaks area. Wonderful service and delicious nibbles and drinks (especially the drinks - very well made). I ended up getting some coconut shrimp to-go.. so yummy. I look forward to a happy hour here. Thank you for the wonderful service and food/drinks!
We were in town for a wedding and this was right outside our hotel. Service was fantastic. We got the grilled artichoke as starter and it was on point. The Mrs got the filet and I had the 16 Oz ribeye. Everything was prepared as ordered and was tasty. Split the cheesecake for dessert and we could tell straight away it was made in house. Totally appreciated the old school topping on the cheesecake, you just don’t see it made that way anymore. Definitely recommend.
Went there for happy hour yesterday and had the cheeseburger for $16. It was delicious. Met some new friends there. I sat at the bar and the bartenders were very friendly and helpful. Overall great experience! Definitely will be back for some juicy steaks.
I was super amazed at what a great little find this place is. Loved it! Great atmosphere and the food was on the NEXT LEVEL! I never knew I loved Brussels sprouts this much. I’ll be back soon.
Recently visited Holdren's for a steak Birthday dinner, and it did not disappoint! The wine was top notch, the herb crusted chicken was cooked well with a delicious creamy sauce, and the filet mignon was melt-in-your-mouth good! We also ordered the crab cakes as an appetizer and that was delicious as well! Their sides are limited to a variety of veggies and potatoes, but let's face it, you come for the entrees, not the sides. The Italian wedding soup was perfect and the salads are nice and light. FYI: if you want bread, you need to ask, as they do not bring it automatically. Possibly one of the best parts of the meal was their outstanding service. These waitresses seem extremely experienced in fine dining as we never waited more than a few moments for refills and food served. Great experience overall!!!
Food, service, everything was amazing. I don’t particularly like going out to eat nowadays but I would definitely come back here again.
We went for the four course meal on Valentine’s Day. Food was delicious, dessert even better! We’ll be going back to try food from the regular menu.

Our club recently held our holiday luncheon for sixty at Holdren's Steaks and Seafood in Newbury Park. Unlike most venues which require patrons to pre-select from a limited menu, we ordered directly that day from a menu consisting of a variety of courses. The service was timely and impeccable. As chairperson of this event, it was a pleasure working with the owner. The event received rave reviews from club members. Truly a wonderful dining experience for special occasions and an excellent choice for family and friends dining out.
I took myself for my birthday, 72 thank you. Being by myself I sat at the bar which was inviting. My bartender was Sharon, she was so very warm and welcoming. I explained that I was treating myself and knew exactly what I wanted to eat. Filet med/rare, baked potato with all the fixings and a crisp wedge salad. Also an O’fashion cocktail before dinner. A wonderful glass of Prisoner Red Blend with my steak. I can’t tell honestly say this was the best meal I’ve had in a very long time. Everything was cooked perfectly, it was delicious. Sharon sent me home with a celebratory piece of cheese cake.
We have been coming here for years. The most consistently delicious food. I have been disappointed by restaurants that have my same dish done 5 different ways. Holdrens stays true. The risotto is unmatched, beating out bland places elsewhere. I get my steak rare and it has always been delicious and never over cooked. I wish they would open back up the lunch hours, we love far away and with kids it's hard to make it for a dinner but we try whenever possible. That's how good it is. Oh and the tomato basil soup *chefs kiss* Our 4 year old loves the soup and risotto.
We made reservations for our group of 5. Our server, Bree, was wonderful. The food and atmosphere was excellent. Great experience!
It had been forever since my last visit to Holdren’s, but after my husband and son raved about their happy hour, I had to return. The Saturday night vibe was hopping and full of energy! We started with Berry Lemon Drops; the muddled fresh fruit was a highlight, and I loved that they let me swap in Tito’s Vodka. The food was fantastic across the board. I highly recommend the Caramelized Apple & Walnut Salad and the Pulled Pork Sliders—the pineapple coleslaw and crispy onion straws added the perfect crunch. My husband loved his Macadamia Nut Crusted Halibut, and the Filet Mignon Steak Bites were a hit with my daughter-in-law. While my son mistook the bold flavor of the Beef Wellington for mustard, the rest of us tasted it and thought the blue cheese and mushroom combo was delicious! Even our 18-month-old grandson was happy with his fries, and the baked bread was a treat. Our server was lovely, and I can’t wait to come back for happy hour soon.

Good food! The ahi was delicious! The ribeye was good, just slightly over what I wanted. The lemon tart has great flavor, but the crust was very soggy. All in all, it was a good meal. I just expected a bit more attention to details as well as better service.
I’ve eaten here a few times. I really love the chicken dishes but this time I tried the beef bourguignon. It was very delicious. My friend got the seafood pasta. The wine was also good. It’s a steak house so it’s expensive but definitely worth it. . . . Update- went back and again enjoyed myself. Hate to say it but i now feel the prices are just way to crazy for what you get. They don’t give you complimentary bread anymore either. They charge $3 for a “small basket” and $6 for a large. It’s a steak house- we pay a ton of money, the least they could do is give free bread? Additionally, we sat outside and the tables and chairs they have in certain areas are plastic and flimsy. I ended up getting the special which was filet mignon with a truffle sauce. To be honest the regular sauce they served was better. It also came with a special potato dish that tasted the exact same as their garlic mashed potatoes. Nonetheless the dishes are always served beautifully. We got the caprese to start and my dad got the rib eye and friend got the salmon which he very much enjoyed.
The atmosphere and service were fabulous! I ordered the cioppino and was not impressed, especially for the price. Although, my husband's beef Wellington was tasty. The beef dishes definitely outshined the seafood (we also had the scallops for an appetizer) that evening.

Went for dinner and ordered a Wellington. The filet was very tender but the steak itself didn’t have much flavor. It was really masked by the blue cheese. The pastry was well cooked and the mushroom Demi glaze was fine. All the sauces were perhaps more than I bargained for. Next time I would try the plain filet. The twice baked potato was good, as was the potato leak soup. The mudd pie was the star dish.

Food not great. Service meh. I suppose the waiters are just bored with having to wear masks all the time so cant really blame them. Not worth spending several hundred bucks for mediocre food and service. Macadamia nut crusted halibut was bad, very "fishy" and greasy. Scalloped potatoes ok. Twice baked potato very good. 2 stars for the smores that were interesting and the only good thing.

I really wanted to love this place cause it’s so local and we like to go out often. Was recommended by a friend. -Food ordered the New York Strip medium. Came out medium well, which is fine. The quality though. It was like just a cut above Albertsons quality. Did not have a good seer on it. Mash potatoes were decent. Wife ordered the Filet and she liked it. She loved the buttered mushrooms. -Atmosphere Good. -Service Good and attentive. Unfortunately, I have to give this restaurant a one star because my wife got food poisoning, and was up all night sick. For over $200, truly not worth it. Yea
