Most folks see bbq and think lunch place. They do a killer smokehouse breakfast with biscuits gravy, the whole shehbang. Id be a regular if i could afford to. Got my kid 2 sides of bacon, 2 sides of hashbrowns and a biscuit. $25? The 2 egg breakfast sounds reasonable at around $11. Then add a drink and somehow you're up to $20-25 a plate...for breakfast. Would recommend. Just dont get sticker shock. Guess that's going out in 2026. Super yum though
The food is phenomenal with such a perfect selection to choose from. Such a treat to dine in and listen to all the old country legends I grew up to listening to. To all the staff who make up Harris County Smoke House thank you for such warm hospitality, you guys are the best.
I arrived and found there was plenty of parking. The restaurant looked liked an authentic western BBQ place. It was really decorated nicely. You get a tray and order you food. You can observe the food being prepared and cut up right infront of you. The drinks, rolls and condiments were self serve. The rolls were very good. I got the three meat plate with sliced beef, ribs, and links. I also got a baked potato that was a very nice size. The food was hot and fresh and was very tasty. I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere and will definitely be back.
1st time here for breakfast. It wasn’t busy. I ordered the two brisket and egg tacos with cheese. It was delicious. Service was fast and friendly. Food came out quickly and hot. I’d come back here for brisket breakfast tacos anytime!
My family’s go to for BBQ, catered from here, and food arrived fresh and all guests loved the food. The sides are always fresh and never salty. Sometimes the broccoli isn’t fresh. The pancakes and French toast are a 10/10, the pancakes were fluffy and tasty. The whip cream is delicious and I always order a side. The brisket and sausage perfect!!! Not too moist not too dry, just right. We like how the brisket doesn’t have much fat, so it’s lean. The sausage comes in normal flavor or a jalapeño flavor. The chorizo breakfast is rlly good too, we are picky where we get our breakfast and this place never misses. The coffee is hit or miss, sometimes it’s rlly good sometimes it’s watered down. The macaroni is creamy and not salty at all. I like how this place has fresh Jalepenos, bread, pico de gallo, pickles, onions, salsa, free of charge in a booth. The same people work here so food is consistent and service is great! Pricing is fair, the quality is great, tasty. Very good portions, as a family we always have enough to share plates. No complaints :)
Update: Still great, Texas burger is awesome. Bathrooms are clean --------------- Came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Got two smoke house combos - they easily fed my family of 6. Everything was great; eggs, French toast, pancakes, sausage, bacon - and best of all brisket for breakfast. The process for ordering is a bit confusing if it's your first visit but the staff is friendly and will help guide you. Wait staff is quick and helpful. Very clean. Prices are very reasonable. I'll happily go back for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Ok my first time here just a heads up don't get a tray if you're ordering breakfast go down the line and place your order with a server it was our first time and they expected us to know that....but over all the food was average for breakfast foods. they have very generous portions I had the smokehouse combo with bacon and smoked sausage the pancakes were good and I like that they have sugar free syrup also. the rolls and bread is complimentary and fresh I would definitely go back and try the bbq it smelled so good
Menu prices were higher than online, almost double. Salad with Grilled chicken or beef brisket $14.95. Good wine, big onion rings friendly fast service. Like Famous Dave's up north
I was told this place has good brisket and they were right! The brisket has flavor but a bit dry, however still good. I will return for their Texas Club with brisket.
Great location, great service. Best ambience in all the smokehouses I visited. Friendly staff. I felt the meat was a little bland, no much of the black pepper taste, but thats just me. Meat was soft and tender, they have fresh made bread, biscuits. Very kid friendly place. Right next to the freeway. Quick exit and re-entry. Wont mind visiting again.
We ate here this past weekend as needed a bbq fix. I agree with Ranger 127 that the brisket was strange, maybe undercooked, white in color? & tasteless. The ribs were tasty & the chicken amazing & meaty. I like the baked beans, but the fried okra needs work, too small & mostly breading. The cornbread is quite good.
I like this place mostly for the atmosphere. It has a down home, cozy country feel to it, but the brisket leaves a lot to be desired. It had almost no flavor to it. Had to almost drowned it in barbeque sauce to get any taste to it. The mashed potatoes and seasoned rice on the other hand, were very tasty. The corn bread muffins are also good. If it wasn't for the tasteless brisket, I'd give it five stars. Will definitely go back, but probably get the sausage or chicken. Price is pretty reasonable also, as you get unlimited rolls, cornbread, drinks, etc.
We got 2, 2-meat plates. So, 4 meats. Brisket, sausage, ribs, and chicken. Let's start with the brisket. I'm beyond disappointed. I asked for fatty, got ignored, and got lean jerky. Worst brisket I've had in a long time. Sausage is OK. Ribs had a ton of sugar in the rub and tasted like a candied rib. Wasn't appealing to me. The rib meat had decent flavor. And the chicken, wasn't asked white or dark, got the breast. Flavor is good and there's good smoke, but it was a little dry. Sides were all good. Mac (which was good), potato salad(mayo based), Brussel sprouts, and loaded mashed potatoes. Really disappointed by that brisket though.
Mid BBQ. Ribs tough, hard bite, like bite down and rip it off the bone. Brisket was better but lacking. Sides were good though. Self serve rolls and corn muffins. No prices or menu so just act surprised when you get charged $25 for a 2 meat plate. Do they do sandwiches? Maybe, wouldn't know if no menu up there. How much is 'by the lb?' Who knows. Place is good size, plenty of seating since it wasn't busy. Parking lot big. Something for a quick bite passing through town. Just expected better. Edit-- they have paper menus. Thanks for clarifying that
Came with my family to try this BBQ restaurant. Inside the restaurant is spectacular, is a type buffet restaurant. The food is just ok, I had smoke brisket, chicken, sausage, and ribs, and it wasn't that great. The Mac & Cheese was really good. I like that they have another free buffet for vegetables.
Dinning room was very cold. Asked manger if he could make the dinning area warmer. His tone was not of a customer service professional. We are not allowed to touch the thermostats per the owner. Meanwhile everyone in the restaurant are wearing jackets except line cook staff . This Last September there was 30 plus of us ,and the restaurant was very warm. Mr. Owner you need to stop penny pinching , and adjust this mangers attitude . FYI we drive in from Sugar land , and other outlying areas. Only 1 person is 10 min from your location. Long time customer, and we come in as a group 5 to 30 over the years. Today was our last time, and we will find a new place.
09/20/2025 2:32pm Haven’t been here in a while so we decided to give it another try. We ordered the two meat plate with sides & salad with turkey & an extra ranch because one is laughable. Both meats had good flavor but were warm, not hot. The salad with turkey was delicious. There was no cornbread & no rolls out so we asked for some. They brought out ice cold rolls so we had to ask them to microwave them. The table next to us said they asked for cornbread 20 minutes ago & none ever came out. The condiment bar was horrible & sloppy. There was no pico so we had to ask for more. The area hadn’t been wiped down so food was everywhere & every set of tongs except two were in the condiment so they couldn’t be used. We had to reach over the pickles to get the jalapeños & my wife said the pickles tasted like jalapeños from cross contamination. The bathrooms have about 1/2” of dust covering everything & we’re not the cleanest. Overall, the people were polite but inattentive to cleaning the work stations & restrooms. The food was decent for the price.
Whenever I visit my mother, we'll go out to eat. Lately, we have been visiting Harris County Smokehouse on some visits. It is in our rotation so to speak. Their food is pretty good. On the last (double meaning!) visit, we waited seemingly forever for our food. After 25 minutes, I went to ask about it and our food was sitting on the counter between the kitchen and servers. I pointed this out and was told it had just been placed there ... even though they were grabbing a large order for a group that was well after us. My Mom's bacon was cold; she ate one half of one piece. The manager (I assume) seemed disinterested and offered to cook it again. Needless to say, we declined since we were done with the meal. We had earlier told an employee who was in the dining area, but no one ever came out to speak with us. Their excuse was that they only had one cook - on a Friday night! Our previous outings were better, but not enough to overcome this night and make us inclined to return.
I came in for the lunch special. I have a credit card that doesn't have chip. You have to swipe it it. When I went to pay they refused to swipe my card. Honestly, im glad they would not take my money. This place looks outdated and the food looked dry. They used to be a great place to go to. Now they are overpriced and there food is not even that good.
Harris Cty BBQ on 2920 Tomball. Had 2 bad experiences. #2 is most irritating: 1. Tues 10/7/25 8:15pm: I had just rushed 38 miles from downtown H. Doors were locked, door showed closing at 9pm. I could see people eating inside, so since only 8:15 called from outside. Lady said we decided to close early and gave me no reason. 2. Friday 10/17/25 8:15pm: Decided to try this restaurant one more time. Paid for orders and proceeded to corn muffins and stood in front of the glass case. An employee named Debra came up on my right. I asked Debra where the non jalapeño muffins were. She pointed to a middle row with 4 muffins. But then I was shocked when she opened glass door, took all 4 muffins, put in a sack. I said, you just took my 4 muffins. Debra replied, there will be hot muffins coming out any minute. She then went home. I asked employees when the fresh muffins would be ready. They replied no more tonight. Told them what Debra did a they found it amusing. Pico bar area was all cleaned out. Had to ask them to bring out more pico. When a one meat plate is $20, you would think service would be better.
The brisket was dry, bland, boring, and tasted like regret. The brussel sprouts were boiled in water only, no flavor at all, same for the green beans. This is an extremely poor representation of Texas barbecue, and does not deserve to be called Texas barbecue. The sausage tasted like the cheapest trash sausage you can buy. Definitely not deserving of any stars. Step your game up Harris County Smokehouse, have some Texas pride.
