Hisaya Kyoto Chestnuts – A Delightful Spot for Chestnut Lovers If you're a chestnut lover, Hisaya Kyoto Chestnuts is a must-visit spot for a quick bite or a sweet treat. They offer a variety of chestnut desserts, as well as Kyoto and Tianjing chestnuts in different package sizes. The Chestnut Cake is a standout—it has a fragrant, flaky pie crust, and the chestnut filling inside is freshly made and served hot, creating a rich and comforting bite. The chestnut ice cream is another highlight, blending vanilla and chestnut flavors into a smooth, creamy treat. I’d even say it's the best chestnut ice cream in LA County! The store itself is beautifully decorated in traditional Japanese style, featuring a wall of sticky notes where visitors can write their wishes. Since desserts are made fresh to order, there might be a bit of a wait, but trust me—it’s absolutely worth it!
Get the black sesame milk! It's freshly ground and roasted and not too sweet. Their chestnut ice cream is good too.
Wonderful little place. It wasn't busy when I came in. Lady at the front desk was nice and I got a chestnut tiramisu and yuzu-chestnut donut. Neither were too sweet, and they were both delicious. Really recommend coming by if you like chestnuts!
Roasted chestnuts in LA? Hell yeah. Very resonance price. Great for stopping by for after meal dessert. 😝
They have a small tatami mats area. Very comfortable. The snacks are delicious.

This place is heaven for someone who likes dessert with depth of flavor, not overkilling sweet, and satisfying. I stumbled upon this place while looking for ice cream and it was the best decision. We got bunch of different items with chestnut and other flavors more as a sample and we loved everything. Chestnut cake seemed little dry but it was still very delicious. I personally liked the red bean version better. Their cake donuts are the best. That's got to be my favorite from all the items we tried. We got all flavors and everything was great. Their cookies are a delicacy. My favorite was black sesame but matcha and Chestnut are equally great. It was a wonderful little Japanese dessert place. Theres so much culture to this place. It's a must try. I can't wait to go back and try more stuff including their icecream.
Highly recommend this place. I had a chestnut smoothie with added boba and were able to substitute milk for almond milk cause of my lactose, which was excellently delicious and convenient! Also had their chestnut sesame and matcha donuts, and they were well balanced in flavor. Not too sweet or over powered by too much flavor, was such a balanced taste for me. I would recommend or request if customers who order donuts get either warm or cold options. I had my donuts warm after heating them up at home and they were perfect!!
Love this cute hole in the wall place! They’re famous for their freshly roasted chestnuts (obviously), and their many chestnut-flavored desserts. We got too excited and ordered pretty much one of each category. Chestnut milk tea with chestnut boba (not enough chestnut flavor in either, however). Chestnut cake (recommend!). Chestnut ice cream (yum, not too sweet!). And of course, a bag of small and large chestnuts. I prefer the smaller chestnuts, as they don’t get dried out as fast. I’m usually not a huge fan of chestnuts, but I’m definitely glad I tris place!
A lovely little spot with tasty treats you don't find anywhere else! Everything has chestnuts in it. Quite a find!
Cute and unique place. Yummy desserts
Tiramisu chestnut! Omg! It was sooo good!

I recommend the chestnut cake because it had strong chestnut flavor, and a smooth creamy chestnut filling, and the entire thing was served hot. Would definitely order again. I got hot chestnut milk, I thought it tasted like caramel. I liked that the top was frothed. Would not order again. Chestnut tiramisu was drier than what I was used to compared to more typical tiramisus. Would not order again. I got a medium bag of the Kyoto chestnuts, but did not compare with the other type of chestnut. It came out hot, with a slightly dry but not mealy texture. Would order again. Seating is just two small tables outside with 5 chairs total.
Wow! My parents and in laws love chest nuts so through out the years by default I've become accustomed to various chestnuts. My wife and I decided to drop by after dinner and I was blown away by their chestnuts. I especially enjoy the Kyoto chestnut, it has such a robust sweet nutty buttery flavor that I couldn't just eat one. My wife had the chestnut boba and I had the chestnut latte. Both of which were good, both had a rich nutty flavor to it. Seating is tight as there is limited space in the store. Parking and also be difficult. Great place to get something healthy and different, looking forward to coming back real soon.
There’s roasted chestnuts in the US?! Sign me up! Came for the roasted chestnuts, stayed for the chestnut and vanilla soft serve and the chestnut cheesecake (mont blanc). Skip the chestnut cookie. Even the roasted chestnuts were just ok, far inferior to what I grew up eating in Shanghai.
Cakes were tasty, but I couldn't tell which had what filling until I bit into them. Mont blanc cheesecake was very decadent and a little too sweet to eat more than a bite or two at a time. Packaging is so thoughtful and neat.
One of the few locations anywhere to sell roasted chestnuts. It's also probably your only pick if you happen to want a Montblanc. Overall, I really like the chestnuts here. If you're just looking for a mildly sweet and earthy snack, the roasted chestnuts are a great pick. The Montblanc is quite nice and I appreciate that they use a noodle presser to make the strings like they would in Japan. I've definitely experienced a few Montblancs in the north where they skip that step and it does take away from the texture. Would recommend getting some matcha tea to pair with the sweetness of the cake.

This place serves frozen yogurt and various desserts with chestnuts as toppings. The desserts were ok, a lot of variety like donuts too, but not the best or freshest tasting. The chestnut pieces added to my frozen yogurt didn't seem like the freshest. The decor was nice, with colorful sticky notes people write and stick on the wall.

Was looking forward to trying this spot for the Kyoto chestnuts. I guess it didn’t hit the mark imo. NOTE: Snow Storm is like a MCFLURRY mixing all the flavor together versus the Fiji mountain which is layered and not mixed FOOD 3/5 Chestnut Fuji mountain - decently delicious but the chestnuts don’t hit the mark Chestnut Snow Storm - Way too much soft serve, I wish they chopped the chestnuts smaller and mixed it better PARKING 4/5 Huge shopping complex parking lot with tons of parking AMBIENCE 4/5 To go ordering only - no indoor seating and there’s two tables outside Order online also makes it easy!
Food/Taste/Flavor: 3/5 - got the tiramisu and chestnut flavored donut. The tiramisu overall was good but the chestnut purée was extremely sweet. We got only about halfway through before it was too much. The donut has a subtle flavor but was dry and almost crumbly Ambience: 5/5 - very cute and cozy store. The tatami mat area is blocked off but there is a table outside to sit at Service: 2/5 - very quick and efficient service but the gentleman seemed like he did not want to be there and that we were interrupting whatever he was doing in the back of the store Value for price: 3/5 - not terribly expensive but unfortunately we didn’t care too much for the desserts

Don't mind the price given these are Kyoto chestnuts. But when the shells don't even come off clean from the actual chestnut flesh, that's just sub-par roasting. And to add, what a creepy part of the stripmall. Hardly any people around, vacant and empty shops. Sad.

Just don't.. cold dry chestnuts. Ice cream is lightest ice cream ever. Turned on the machine when we ordered. Maybe never been to Kyoto.
