I mean, you come to a new town and you a) experience great atmosphere, b) amazing Mac and cheese and c) outstanding drinks and customer service from our bartender, nothing can go wrong. Our old fashioned aka velvet Elvis were great and again, our bartender was the funniest server I have ever encountered.

The food and drinks are absolutely amazing! The staff are all friendly and attentive. They even stuff their own olives for the vodka martinis.

We visited the Truckee Tavern and Grill for the first time this past Saturday night and we were thoroughly impressed! We received a warm greeting and were seated by the owner. I loved the decor and ambiance, very cozy and eclectic. We shared the Beet Tartare with house-made chips, my beau had a burger and fries and I had the Oyster Mushroom Shepard's pie. All were beautifully presented and delicious - the perfect comfort food after a full day of snowboarding. We finished our meal with the Carrot Cake which was *chef's kiss* delightfully moist and flavorful. We can't wait to return and try more of the menu!

We went to celebrate a birthday and it was extremely busy that night, but the staff still went out of their way to make it special. They surprised us with a birthday cake and even a card, which was such a thoughtful touch. It really meant a lot. The service and kindness made the whole experience memorable. Definitely a customer for life!

Amazing service. We unfortunately arrived quite late and kept the staff overtime, however, the service was still phenomenal. We felt quite welcomed and respected by the staff there for a birthday. They treated us well, our food and drinks were out quick, and the pudding was amazing. Couldn’t recommend it more. Quite lovely! Thank you

Came here about a month ago for the first time in a couple years as our 1 year anniversary and it was absolutely fantastic, as usual. The food and service was out of this world and an extra special mention to the gentleman who I believe may have been the manager… A taller dude with some cool jewelry was an absolute gem and made the great food even better with his great energy and personality. Thank you to everyone there… We had a great day, highlighted by a great meal, that lead to an amazing night..

My husband and I went for dinner and were so surprised at the quality of the drinks and food. Each item we had was delicious. We had the soup ( cream cauliflower) , and the basic salad . It was full of veggies and slivered almonds as well as pickled jicama. I had the 10 ounce filet which was seasoned beautifully and done just right over a bed of spinach and potatoes. It was surrounded by a fabulous sauce of mushrooms. My husband had the pork paparadelle that had spinach noodles, onions, and tomatoes in the sauce. It was so savory. To top it off, we shared a delicious carrot cake that was just the right sweetness. I forgot to mention the martini was perfect and the nonalcoholic drink that was made for me was the best I’ve ever had!! It was a fantastic meal!

My husband and I just had dinner for the first time at the Tavern this evening. We were waited on by Chris the owner . His efforts to accommodate us were over the top. The service was exceptional and our entrees were delicious. The ambiance was so inviting and we enjoyed everything about our experience.

The staff was lovely even with bar seating only. The food was very tasty but my partner and I had some digestive issues from the beef tallow fries; that dish might be a little too rich if you're in the habit of eating healthy! Otherwise the cocktails were half sold out, but the ones we had very very nice with smokey mezcal flavors.

The fries were really good. Pork chop was a little dry and the char lines were a little overwhelming. Service was quick once we were seated but it took a while (we were walk in at 5:15pm and didn't get seated until 6:05pm). Overall enjoyed our experience (2 kids and 2 adults).

Pleasant dining experience at Truckee Tavern. Central location in downtown Truckee, with a view of the train station and the surrounding downtown area. Fast and friendly food service, and the baked chicken was a very good dish to share. Parking can be hard to find in downtown Truckee, so be prepared to walk a bit (5-10 minutes).

The mac n’ cheese was AMAZING with a great crispy top. The atmosphere was super aesthetic and cute with hanging down lights. We had additional guests decide to tag along and the staff was accommodating to help us make room. However, the server we had taking care of us had an attitude and did not make us aware of an additional charge to split plates until the checks came and were confused on the charges. She may have been having a bad day, but that was not our fault and we did not deserve the eye rolls and exasperated sighs as we ordered. There was also the Truckee farmers market event taking place at the time, but the restaurant was not busy by any means.

The menu is not large by any means but the space itself makes up for that. Situated upstairs, this massive three room restaurant has some incredible ambiance. There's two bars, three seating areas, and an outside terrace. Great place for happy hour or a cocktail. Their homemade lemonade is to die for. The food is just okay - I had the chicken sandwich which was really dry. Good flavors, though. I will try to not to dwell too negatively on this aspect. Plating was beautiful and the deck is a great vantage point for people watching.

Dinner was fine. Nothing extraordinary. We were able to get same day reservations but only with the option to sit inside. The music was very loud and despite the fully open restaurant, a family with small children was seated directly next to us. This was odd.

Our service was good and the atmosphere is good, very casual. If say the food was a little inconsistent. Vegan asparagus soup was very tasty. The people who got the trout said it was good. Pork chop was also good. The mushroom shepherds pie was so promising but so very bland. It was disappointing. If give the overall good rating 3.5

Most importantly, the service and the ambiance were amazing. Our waitress was very nice. The food however, was not. The roasted asparagus was not tender at all, the ‘thrice cooked’ fries were anything but and the handmade pasta for the Mac and cheese was chewy. My partner, who is less picky, found the appetizers and his meal to be great so take my review with a grain of salt. I just felt disappointed with the food especially given the prices.

We decided to up and leave and go somewhere else. We spent $600 elsewhere. Sad we couldn’t get to try the food.

Found multiple hairs in two dishes and the Mac n cheese had little to no flavor, fries were okay, mashed potatoes were oily and salty, water had lots of microplastics floating around. Service was great we loved our server, we didn’t really feel the atmosphere.
