This restaurant was a joy! From the nice host, to Bella who was our server, and the amazing chef, we were impressed and plan to come back.

This was my first time eating at The Chalkboard restaurant and I was very impressed. I absolutely loved this restaurant! The food itself reminds me of Gordon Ramsey's signature dishes: Lamb Lollipops, Beef Wellington, Sticky Toffee Pudding, ECT. But the food was delicious and beautifully plated. The atmosphere is dimly lit with a dark grey color themed and notes of gold ascent pieces. A smell of a sweet scented wood fireplace comes through as soon as you walk into the front door. The decoration and style of the restaurant is very unique with a romantic vibe. The restaurant is more on the pricey side but for the quality of the food and atmosphere, I think it's worth the experience.

Was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and the atmosphere here. I hadn’t ever been and really wasn’t sure what to expect. I found it to be another hidden gem in downtown with quality food and service. I didn’t even know the hotel attached existed so this place really flies under the radar. I didn’t order a main entree but instead had a salad, soup, and some fried green tomatoes yet I left fully satisfied and looking forward to another visit.

To get a table make a reservation and try to make sure it's not during a holiday. They were able to make a reservation for me at the bar and Tina the wonderful bartender made me a fantastic mocktail. Even though they sold out of the vegan mushroom Wellington before I could get there I had a fantastic dinner of heirloom carrots and the very beautiful acorn squash. Not only was everything very pretty to look at but it all tasted impeccable as well. Only wish that they would have a vegan dessert option too but maybe in the future they will.

This restaurant deserves a Michelin Star!!! I’ve been all over the world to the most famous restaurants from Paris, to London, Munich, Japan, Rome, Sorrento, NYC. You name it, all with even multiple Michelin Stars and WOW! I can still taste the flavors from this hidden gem in Tulsa. The Chalkboard offers an upscale fine dining with exquisite flavors, passion and even local specialties. I tried the 10 Hours Braised Boneless Short Rib and it’s absolutely worth trying plate, with an explosion of well balanced flavors and meat that melts in your mouth. I listened to the recommendations of the server and their specialties and I was not disappointed, I would fly to Tulsa just to eat at the Chalkboard again. Thank you for such an amazing experience! Food was beautiful and amazing! Our waitress was kind, efficient and replaced my drink when I clumsily spilled it lol! Atmosphere was chill perfect for a quick date night.

For starters we had the fried green tomatoes and the spinach artichoke dip. The breading on the tomatoes was good. I would’ve preferred the tomatoes to be a little less “firm”/“crunchy”. Spinach artichoke was great and the naan accompanying was good. Wife had a lemon cello (their version of the lemon drop) and she had a strawberry field, which she really enjoyed. We also grabbed a salad each which were prepared well. Pictured is the Caesar salad and Baratta caprese so for the entrees we settled on the “Chalkboard Wellington” with asparagus and orzo. The crust on the Wellington was cooked great, the meat was the temp we ordered (medium). The Wellington tasted like mustard, there wasn’t much of any other flavor. The orzo was cooked good. Both the Wellington and orzo were under seasoned. I don’t feel as though salt and pepper should be needed. I don’t think that’s expecting to much. The asparagus was cooked well. The server was great! Attentive! and took care of us well. Loved the atmosphere! It’s a place we will be back to. I just can’t recommend any dishes from our experience tonight.

Natalie was our server/bartender and she was absolutely amazing! Very personable and gave the best customer service we've had in awhile. Tom who is the head chef also was extraordinary! He handed us our plates personally while describing each delicious dish to a tee! This was our first time and we will definitely be back! Thank you guys for an amazing experience !

I wanted somewhere delicious, romantic, and downtown. Everyone talks about chalkboard but I didn't believe it until I made some reservations and walked down. The building is absolutely adorable and the live music was a wonderful mood-setter. The cocktails are well priced and plenty boozy. But the highlights were every piece of food I got to enjoy and the great staff. Everyone was attentive and as prompt as the chemistry of cooking would allow. Our server was knowledgeable and kind. The food was absolutely next level. Gorgeous plating, locally sourced and seasonally appropriate offerings. The baked brie blew me away, and I enjoyed every bite of the duck breast. If you're looking for a wonderful way to spend a special evening, Chalkboard is the place.

We sat at the bar for drinks on a Thursday night. Great bartender, Evan, was welcoming and friendly. He had a great playlist going and The Bob Ross Show playing on a TV in a picture frame over the bar...very cool. Had a few drinks and watched Bob Ross create beautiful scenery with the stroke of his brush! The next morning we had breakfast here...delicious omelets. Then returned around 7pm to the bar and sat at the far table next to the Guitarist, Dave Kane, playing live Simon and Garfunkel tunes...( he said he us there every Friday night). Good tunes. Had a snack...Wedge Salad and Spinach/Artichoke dip with crackers. Both excellent. Fresh flowers on table! Very good service in the bar area with gracious smiling staff...looking forward to returning!

At first we were disappointed by the late night menu but thankfully we stayed! Kevin gave great service and was very funny. ( Chef: Christian) The taste of the food was very flavorful and mouth watering that it was what made up for the more limited menu. We also enjoyed the filling of the establishment, more rustic, dim, and comfortable. we did not attend the bar, but it did sound lively and the drinks we did order were good Overall excellent experience and can’t wait to go back and try a full menu. Our order : A hamburger with truffle fries/ Caesar salad and Wellington bites/ Dessert : chocolate fudge cake with ice cream And Pistachio crème brûlée

Sunday brunch downtown Tulsa. Location is small with about 10 tables inside and limited outdoor seating as well as a full service bar with about another 6 seats. Low light ambience and limited capacity make for a great date night idea Crowd for brunch is an older church crowd. Service was fast. Today we have Eggs Benedict with shredded short rib and roasted potatoes. It is rare to find a place in Tulsa that can prepare and serve a proper Eggs Benedict. The dish itself is simple but requires skill is preparing the sauce and poached eggs. It is not a dish where you can just throw ingredients on the grill or in a deep fryer. The Chalkboard does an excellent job. Eggs perfectly poached. Sauce was creamy with just the right tang. The beef short rib was very good tender and wonderfully seasoned but I suspect I would have preferred the Canadian bacon instead. What can I say but I am a traditionalist with these classic dishes.

I'm always so impressed with Ambassador hotel restaurants. This was no different. Great drinks (a limoncello martini and a great rosé by the glass). Good spinach artichoke dip. A surprising and cravable take on gnocchi! And a mushroom Wellington that packs some spice.

Great restaurant with cool ambiance. The server is really great! She remembers my dairy allergy and makes certain my food is properly and safely prepared. Egg white veggie omelet is nice and a healthy alternative to traditional breakfast. Their jam is house made and delicious.

They catered my wedding! The food was all wonderful, very tasty and fresh. The salad dishes and their roast potatoes are my favorites! But they have a lot of wonderful options. 12/9/25 update It’s still an amazing restaurant. My husband and I just celebrated our 8th anniversary here, and the food, environment and service are as incredible as ever!

Burger was good- served on a brioche bun which is always a plus- served to your liking! They have a full bar for cocktails and beers- mimosas they have a couple different kinds- we went for lunch! The place was a cute vibe! Wine flights and beer flights available!

So little did I realize my timing was impeccable. The second day of The Chalkboard being open after renovations their moody yet classy ambiance set the scene for a lovely dining experience. I stopped by due to raving reviews and figured it would be a lovely place to have dinner during my work trip. The photos added show the lovely plating that gives merit to their name, The Chalkboard. The flavors of everything however I can’t simply show through photographs. The mint yogurt sauce for the melt in your mouth lamb was the perfect compliment and had the perfect amount of kick of fresh garlic that’s reminiscent of my middle eastern family roots. The lovely spiced honey went super well with the mustard and the practically any combination of items I ate on the charcuterie board complimented each other exceptionally well. Then there was dessert. The house made ice cream flavor of the day was pineapple ginger which sounded unorthodox but surprisingly went phenomenally together. In fact so well I forgot to photograph the dessert before it was gone! The ginger wasn’t overpowering and enhanced the refreshing flavors the citrus that came from the pineapple. The service was absolutely outstanding and I had a lovely experience and will look forward to dining here again. The only complaint/critique I can think of providing us that I did not have a cheese knife for the charcuterie board.

Gluten-free options! Mimosas for breakfast...and other drinks. Highly recommend. Parking was easy, and the staff was friendly.

So so happy to find a place like this in Tulsa, not what I expected. Very very satisfied. The food was great, fresh tasting and I would and will come back for more. My burger was spot on to what I like so don't think I ordered it well done and came out red. Great ingredients. Good job guys!!!

In the heart of Tulsa, Oklahoma lies the Chalkboard Restaurant, a hidden gem of culinary artistry where every dish is a flavorful masterpiece. From the heavenly crab cake appetizer to the tender filet mignon and truffled mashed potatoes, each bite transports you to a land of gastronomic delight. The enchanting ambience, coupled with the radiant and knowledgeable Natalie’s impeccable service, transforms a mere meal into a dazzling performance that will leave you craving an encore. My wife & I ventured into the Chalkboard Restaurant for an unforgettable dining experience that tantalized our taste buds and etched itself into your memories! This place is a MUST VISIT For anyone visiting Tulsa and a staple for those that live here! Ask for the Gorgeous Little Texas charm Natalie when you arrive!

What a great spot in Tulsa! My family had an awesome dinner and Kevin made it an even better experience. The beef wellington was better than advertised. Great cocktails and wine as well.

Our group stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for cocktails and to partake of their limited menu. The cocktails were fabulous. Arguably the best Negroni I have ever had. Really nice atmosphere, too. I don’t think they have any handicap access however.

Omg!! This place is so awesome! The drinks, the appetizers, the beef wellington & the dessert. The service was awesome. Our server knew everything down to the smallest details about the food & menu. You can tell he is dedicated to his job. Not alot of people care to learn the menu like that. If you are looking for some Hells Kitchen type food but in Tulsa The Chalkboard is your place. We definitely will be back. Thank You for outstanding service and food. This place deserves 10+ ☆.

This place was FANTASTIC!!! We were from out of town and were traveling on 4th of July. We had planned to go somewhere else entirely, but they were closed. We are SO SO happy it worked out that way. The food was delicious. We had Wellington Bites as a starter. Only complaint is that the two of us had to split the 5th one. It was fantastic! For entrees my wife had the House Made Gnocchi and I had the Chicken Ballotine. Both phenomenal. DO NOT PASS on the Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert!!!!! We are not dessert people and we can't stop thinking about it. The bartender (I think her name was Natalie, but she has awesome hair!) was so amazing! She was so engaging and helpful to the servers and other guests. We really enjoyed her personality and her ability to answer any questions I had about various dishes. She actually helped recommend our entrees. If we were locals, we'd be there all the time!!!

Small quaint yet sofisticated atmosphere with great staff. My husband LOVED the amazing smokie burger with sauted onions and bacon marmalade with cheddar cheese. My eggs Benedict and smoked potatoes with mushrooms, onions and peppers was fabulous as well. It comes with the choice of potato or fruit cup....I took both and glad I did they were awesome! Great coffee to 🙂 We will be back!!!! Update: Spring 2023 They have changed the style of the restaurant and the menu...NOT IMPRESSED!!!

This place is a hidden gem in downtown Tulsa. The menu is small but mighty - with an excellent blend of offerings for starters, and mains. The bar is really cool and the ambience is great. I was a little disappointed that the service wasn’t a bit more attentive given the small size of the place and the price point but overall the staff was friendly and the ambience really cozy and cool. I had the mushroom Wellington which was unique and tasty!

Everything was great. We had the Sea Bass with Risotto and the Salmon Piccata. Both were excellent, as was the service by our waiter Colin. The only complaint we had is that the restaurant was a little loud but not to the point of impeding conversation at our table.

S
Samm James

We had breakfast here during our recent trip to Tulsa. We started at the Ambassador Hotel which is beautiful. We had the egg white omelette and the eggs Benedict - both dishes were prepared well and tasted delicious. The service size was also perfect. The decor is moody thanks to the dark furniture, beautiful art and rich textures. Our server was very helpful. All in all a very good experience.

We had Thanksgiving dinner there. Lots of choices on the buffet and a great atmosphere. The food was delicious. Already more of a few of the dishes.

A fabulous “celebration worthy” restaurant. The atmosphere, the food and the service were all top notch. We had drinks (a “Bees Knees” and a very well done Old Fashion). I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass which was seared and cooked perfectly with the perfect amount of seasoning. It was accompanied by a deliciously al dente risotto. The price was very reasonable considering the portion size. My husband had the duck which was delicious. (My only nits were that the skin could have been seared a bit more and the broccolini was a bit too crisp for my liking. Albeit, my husband enjoyed his dish very much.) I’ve added The Chalkboard to the top of my list of favorites!

Absolutely loved the experience at this location. A friend and I came to eat some dinner after work and we loved every part of it. The atmosphere was dimmed lights but alive and and joyful. The table across from us were celebrating a birthday and the entire restaurant joined in to sing and wish them a happy birthday. The bar is beautiful, the tables elegant, and the music softly playing. Our server was Maggie and she was the perfect touch to a long day and enjoyable evening. She small talked with us, she had jokes, we had jokes and she was really knowledgeable of all the menu Items. A+ service from her. I ordered the Beef Wellington and this was hands down, the best I have had. I've been craving it every night since. It stole the show! Perfectly cooked filet-deep rosy center, incredibly tender, wrapped in a crisp, buttery pastry that wasn't heavy or soggy. The mushroom duxelles added rich depth without overpowering the beef, and the demi-glaze tied everything together beautifully. served with garlic herb mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables, the entire plate was balanced, comforting, and refined. This is one of those dishes that reminds you why Beef Wellington is a classic when done right. Cozy atmosphere, elevated food, and execution at a very high level.

The Chalkboard Kitchen is a restaurant that should be exploding with exceptional reviews. If the food matched the ambiance, Google and Yelp would be forced by customer demand to add a star to the rating scale. There are in fact, many enticing 5 stars reviews on both the Yelp and Google platforms. But the negative reviews, describing mediocre dining experiences are too recurrent. Discerning diners expect perfection, when the restaurant is posh and they have to open their wallets wide, to buy a plate of food. The Chalkboard Kitchen has been on my to-try list for years. Today is the day. I had my mind set on a delicious Wedge Salad and a cup of soup. Wanting to eat a fairly simple meal today. Well, I am still hoping to find that delicious Wedge Salad someday, somewhere in Tulsa. The tomatoes had gone bad days ago. Limp mushy little red sacks. A pile of lettuce. The salad was not the crisp, fresh dense, sharp cut wedge I had imagined. Plenty of Blue Cheese crumbles and bacon didn’t make up for the disappointing salad. Check the picture. The soup wasn’t bad. An unusual cumin potato soup with a few cilantro or parsley leaves. My wife had the mild tasting crab cake burger with great fries. Decent, no complaints. My wife loved the comfortable, classy ambiance of the restaurant a lot. I agree it is one of the nicest that I have been in, in Tulsa. The décor created the ambiance. The pictures I posted describe the setting more accurately and efficiently than I can with words. The staff is friendly, personable and attentive. Good service. So, it is time to pay the bill. Where does that leave us?…… a mercy rating of 4 Stars. Yep, only because my wife would like to give The Chalkboard Kitchen a redo. Next time, with a large glass of wine… and for me, something other than a Wedge Salad!

Seated in the basement of the Ambassador hotel, a few steps greet you once inside. Another couple steps if seated in the lower level (currently in crutches). Easy to talk to sever and wonderful brunch selections. I went with short rib hash, and it was tasty (though short rib consisted of about 70% fat in my case). The coffee was high quality and overall I had a good experience. I could see returning to try more of the menu.

We went there for a Sunday brunch before a show at the Performance Art Center that is less than 5 minutes away. It is a nice place. Not an extensive menu but I am not picky so it was more than enough for me to find something I would like. It was a little less easy for my boyfriend. The bloody mary was delicious and spicy just like it needs to be! Our 3-cheese platter was bigger than expected, not as great than expected but definitely good. I was not hungry for the fritatta I got after... which was good btw. The fruits served with the cheese platter and the fritatta were great! Overall, it was a good experience and we were satisfied.

I did love the atmosphere of this place, super nice but the service was a little slow. They recently redid a lot of the restaurant and it looks amazing! The food was also really good!

Love the Chalkboard. I have been coming here off and on for years. Nice place to visit for something romantic, something different, or just to treat yourself. Good wines, nice bar, great staff. My only regret here is the quail is no longer on the menu. Pretty much everything else I have had is delicious. Really good local restaurant.

The atmosphere was great, the service was even better but the food was not on par. Took my family there and it's $120 a couple. That was fine with us but when the food got there the steak had no flavor and the mashed potatoes were not very good either. I wouldn't go back unless they changed the menu.

The ambiance at The Chalkboard Restaurant is sophisticated yet cozy, featuring dark walls and an intimate dining space. The salmon was a bit too crispy for my taste, and the pasta had a rich, almost velvety texture. The Beef Wellington bites received mixed reviews, with about half of the party enjoying them. Overall, the dinner was pleasant, though not particularly memorable or extraordinary.

C
Crystal Heu

I really wanted to like this place. I came here mainly for the Beef Wellington and was definitely underwhelmed. The Beef Wellington had absolutely no flavor or seasoning what so ever. I even had to ask for salt and pepper. I read another review about the Wellington not having any flavor but I wanted to give The Chalkboard the benefit of the doubt. We ordered the lamb lollipop and Caesar salad as appetizers and they were good and well seasoned. My friend ordered the halibut and that was really good. Overall, I recommend this place, just not the Beef Wellington. Service was great.

Fried green tomatoes - tomatoes were not ripe and thus lacked flavor. A prime green tomato bares flavor that’s a tad acidic and a bit soft. These were noticeably picked too early. Although the flavor of the tomato itself was absent, the crust enshrining it couldn’t cover its essence. With hints of sage and garlic, the tomatoes crust didn’t overcome the natural missing flavors of the green tomato. The Chalkboard (Beef Wellington) - It was cooked medium-well. The crust was perfect. The meat was also cooked perfectly. It was smaller than expected but was good. The asparagus was overcooked. The orzo was not as creamy as expected. It lacked seasonings (lack garlic and Parmesan) leaving much about this tasty pasta desirable. Airline Fried Chicken- the chicken was tender but lacked seasonings. Obvious was the absence of flavor within the chicken. Outside, the crust was more soft than crunchy. And the yearning for flavor was not met by the relative similar seasonings achieved from a home cook. Yet where the chicken lacked, the cornbread subsided the need for flavor. The service was exceptional. From walking in without a reservation to being served. From the host to the server. Each graciously accompanied a stellar service worthy of 5 stars. And even after a slight mixup with the foods being served at the wrong table, the server corrected the plate bearers mistake with apologizing. On another final note, there, for some, was a bit of annoyance with the foot traffic from hotel to the restaurant. At the back of the restaurant is a doorway where hotel guest can enter and exit. Throughout the service, hotel guest would through the dining room to reach the host or visit the bar. With groups of people, about 3 and sometimes 4, walking through the dining room it could detract from a moment in a romantic date. For me this plausible annoyance was not an issue.

Update : Christmas Day Buffet We have been to this restaurant multiple times before and had a pleasant time with good food. Today was not that day. We called to make a reservation for the offered Christmas buffet for a family of 6. We had elderly members of our party are handicapped and using canes that cannot withstand multiple trips up and down stairs. We inquired of this and were told we would be seated in an area with minimal stairs. We made the reservation due to this assurance. We arrived and were seated upstairs above the buffet set up in the lobby which was reached by going up a set of stairs leading out of the restaurant. We had able bodied people in our party that could get the food for those that couldn't continuously go up and down the stairs, no big deal. We go downstairs to the buffet and are told we can only get one plate per person at a time. Setback #2 ...the buffet starts on time and we get our one plate ..we are told only one slice of meat and the person carving genuinely had not seemed like they had previous experiences carving meat. The turkey was cold. The line was insanely long. We had to make several trips just to get everyone in our party fed once. Plates were not located at each station. It took 30/45 minutes for everyone in our party to get their drinks. There zero salt/pepper/butter on the tables. We had to ask at the buffet for it and were told to ask our server. We had to flag someone down as our server had not been back to our table with the ordered drinks or offer of a water refill. We requested one water refill because the water refill tasted like chlorine. I understand you are going to pay more and that it was Christmas, but there was little to no organization. It would have been a better Buffet it if was served to the tables by the servers instead of lines of people in the hotel lobby for 2 a hour time slot buffet. The majority of the time was spent packed like sardines in the lobby trying feed our party instead of at the table enjoying a meal. There was no spotter at the buffet lobby letting the kitchen know what to bring out. All in all we will not be back again, which is a shame because we haven't been there for several special occasion breakfasts and dinners. We miss the how The Chalkboard you used to be well organized with great food. Goodbye Chalkboard. The Chalkboard Restaurant in Tulsa. They make Beef Wellington there very well and get my steak temperature correct. This was my first dinner here, I've done breakfast/brunch there before. They have a patio seating/dining room seating/ and backroom/wine cellar seating. Despite all the seating... they are not huge. They do manage a continual steady flow. I got beef wellington with veggies and mashed potatoes. My dinner partner got braised short ribs with veggies and potatoes. I really liked my dish. He wished his ribs were on the bone, so they would have more flavor./tenderness. All in all, we would go back again for dinner.

P

The food was underwhelming and definitely not worth the price for what you get. Paid $20 for a single crab cake.. there should at least be 2 if it’s going to cost that much. Our server was not good - we were stuck waiting on her for a long time after we finished our food and wanted to order dessert. Not a good experience, sadly. I got the mushroom Wellington and my husband got the beef Wellington. The creamy orzo that came with it could have been way better and the asparagus had no flavor. The crab cake tasted really good though! But I sadly wouldn’t recommend this restaurant..

We have been to the chalkboard three or four times counting this evening. The first couple of times the food was absolutely magnificent and out of this world. The Last time or two the food has been less than spectacular. Not good, not horrible. My beef Wellington was somewhat overcooked and has in the past been absolutely phenomenal tonight not so much. I got some risotto that simply just was not cooked enough. Risotto is not supposed to be soupy and the rice in the risotto should at least be cooked enough to not be . Our table was very wobbly it made for the most comical evening having to take turns The table, cutting vegetables or meat in order to prevent the table from flipping back-and-forth at first it was simply irritating, but after a while it became sort of amusing. Also, they were out of many of the favorite entrées, so our choices were quite limited this evening. All in all, it will take some pretty heavy consideration to return. trying to find a positive note for the evening are lovely waitress did A great job.

Worst meal!!! I loved the appetizers-salad and lamb lollipops, but the main entree was an absolute mess, and the make-up dessert that was suggested was even worst.
