If you like My comments please click the ❤️ and show some love 💕 Great food, great atmosphere, very nice people. If you taking out you have to pay in Cash. If you eating in, then you can pay with card. Many many choices in their Menu, Or you can reserve to Doughnuts. Been visiting since Day 1... True customer 100% Only downfall to this spot is the parking lot. Please fix the parking lot
(not a local) I was passing through for my usual annual camping trip, and I stopped by to satisfy my sweet tooth. The selection is very simple, the prices are very inexpensive, but the donuts are surprisingly very good. I got the cream-filled chocolate and a raised glaze. The cream-filled was VERY generous with the cream and chocolate frosting. The donut itself, very dense. I'm comparing this to donut shops (or even Krispy Kreme) that make their donuts very fluffy and go frugal on the cream. It's preference regarding those criteria, but you definitely get your money's worth here. $10 for a dozen by the way (as of this review) with $10 minimum for credit card. My two donuts together cost about $4.
For being the only pho spot in 29, it’s actually really good and we look forward to bowls when the weather is right. The buns they use for their bahn mi’s are a little weird but still work somehow. Donuts are great too if you catch em before they sell out. Cash only in here with an ATM inside.
I did not expect to eat Pho in Joshua Tree, but when my Vietnamese girlfriend saw this place we had to try it. A place called Jelly Donut… selling pho… in Joshua Tree?? Well, the pho is genuinely very good and a large portion; I was pleasantly surprised. The banh mi was solid as well. The place is Cash only but has an ATM inside. Owner was very friendly and the food came fast. No complaints. Highly recommend stopping by for a great meal.
The owner updates the menu frequently, very generous portions and excellent food! I really enjoy the chicken and rice, the wife enjoys the beef and brisket wontons and fries, and my daughter craves the pho! The new brisket chili hotdogs are literally the best I’ve had in the US! Don’t skip this when you’re in town! (The photos of the brisket chili cheese dog was 1/4 of what it came with, the chicken and rice, the wonton fries brisket dish and the last photo was the birria egg rolls) egg rolls were great as well!
We got the saucy ramen — although I wish I had 2 or 3 weeks in 29 Palms to work my way through the menu because everything looked great. Our food was delicious and the prices were reasonable. The restaurant was clean, the service was friendly. Take note, though — they only take cash. Be sure and stop by for donuts too. They’re great.
This was a cute place to relax and recuperate. Very friendly staff and great pho. Donuts are also phenomenal. A little pricey but for the middle of the desert, I was pleasantly surprised. The also claim their chili oil recipe is over 400 years oil, Which is pretty neat. Side note: bring cash because hot food is cash only.
**Apple fritters are Saturday and Sunday ONLY.** **cash only, there’s an ATM on site** We got an old fashioned donut that was the best I’ve ever had, it was like a cookie mouthfeel. We ate a variety of fried dumplings, street tacos, and dumpling tacos, they were good. It’s also a little expensive, all the food and drink pictured was ~$50 after tip.
Stopped in to try this spot after seeing great reviews. Donuts were solid, we got the twist and the raspberry filled donuts. Glaze was tasty and not sickeningly sweet, and raspberry filling was tasty, only wish there was a little more in the donut. Bit of an eclectic spot, looks like and old gas station and also serves Pho. Worth a stop in, fairly priced.
I would say the food is pretty good. Especially for a donut shop. But let's face it this place is donuts in the morning and restaurant at night. Overall I would say the pho is pretty good but the noodle over cooks too quickly. Also they did not have basil and some of the toppings I would expect with pho. The dumpling tacos were good but would have been better with more filling. The egg noodles were also good. I would definitely go back again and I think it's probably the best pho you can get around the location.
First time visiting. Went with my husband who absolutely loves Pho & Vietnamese food. San Diego ruined Pho for me but I think this place has redeemed it! We got there Pho & absolutely enjoyed the heck out of it. They also have boba but theirs is brown sugar based and not the usual black tapioca. Please add alcohol to the menu 🥂Also why is this place called jelly donut!?? Lol I highly recommend and I’ll definitely return.
I enjoyed the food but the service was.... different. The guy seemed very irritated while I was ordering and then when I went to pay he said they only accept cash and looked like he was about to cancel my order. Not sure what the problem was because I had cash but the whole experience was odd. Vietnamese coffee was excellent. Glad to find a place in 29 Palms that offers it.
When eaten the same day or the day after, the donuts are good. We liked the old-fashioned (which is a glazed cruller) and the chocolate glaze but the raspberry jelly donut was barely filled and after overall the sugar glaze was getting to be a lot. The dough is nice and soft, but I wish that it had some sweetness instead of relying on a sugar glaze for flavor, which is why I think the old-fashioned is the best - there are lots of edges to give it texture and the right sugar to dough ratio. They accept credit card for donuts if you purchase over $10, but oddly they are cash only for everything else, which was pho for lunch in our case. Given the lack of options in the area (both an actual and food desert), it is an okay meal to give some variety, but nothing to write home about.
While the food is decent, the service is absolutely horrible and the hit or miss hours make it impossible to plan to eat there unless you basically get lucky driving by while they’re open. I’ve eaten there 6-7 times and I don’t think I’ve ever had a positive experience with the staff. They seem to genuinely want you not to be there and act like your presence is a bother. Special shoutout to the girl at the front who sighs loudly every time you order as if you really caught her off guard by ordering food in a restaurant. Their hours are wholly inconsistent. They appear to close at will, and I’ve tried to go there multiple times to be turned around by a handwritten sign on the door saying they’ve closed inside of their posted hours. I’ve also been told they won’t take my order because it’s within 30 minutes of their lunch time. I apologize, I didn’t know I couldn’t order food while your open if it’s not the specific time you’re allowing me to order food. I’m genuinely excited for some other Vietnamese donut/pho options to open in town. It appears complacency in no competition has turned this place into a complete drag. I won’t be trying it any longer.
My brother and I are visiting from out of town to see our brother in the Marines. We are Vietnamese so we were so excited about spotting this quirky little restaurant. Jelly donuts AND pho? So interesting. But, we didn’t even get to eat there because the customer service churned our stomachs away and we lost our appetite. Right when we walked in, the young Asian man was rude and short with us. Not friendly and not what we were expecting for such a highly rated spot. Then, when we placed our order the worker said “cash only” but in a rude way and that was the last straw. We turned around and just left. They really need to train their workers to be more hospitable and friendly. It’s unfortunate but I can’t support a business and give them my money if they’re not kind and appreciative of our business. Maybe it was an off day or something but it wasn’t busy at all. No reason for that man to be rude. Nobody was eating anything outside the place. I also think they need to renovate and clean the place up because it looked dingy and unloved. Really wanted to like the place and overlook all these other issues but that staff member was definitely the last straw.
