I had the Dumpster Burger and it was amazing! I was the only one in there and got wonderful customer service, can't wait to come back!

Had the Fire Escape Burger. The flavor was delicious. John Ford Grass Fed Beef!🙌🏾 The bun was soft. Jalapeños were hot!😁 The young man who served me had an amazing smile, was very friendly and helpful.

Cozy and very clean. Staff was friendly, food was excellent. The bread was incredibly tasty, and I was happy to find a veggie burger on the menu (made perfect by adding mushrooms). Impressive little spot for burger and fries.

Discovered this place about a year ago on during a Costco visit to Ukiah, and we love coming back to this place! The staff are always extremely friendly, it's right next to some decent shopping before/after, and while it's not the absolute cheapest place to go to, it's nowhere near the most expensive burger I've had, and even better, it's actually worth every penny I've spent there! The patties are more of a charbroiled style, so if you dig that, this place is heaven. Additionally, the buns are homemade, and are absolutely FABULOUS. Their buns put other restaurants that use pre-made buns to absolute shame. It's worth the drive up to Ukiah just for the buns themselves, that's how good they are. The burgers are not some huge behemoth, but what's there is great, and you get a decent portion of sides when you order those too. If you're willing to split a large order of fries or tots, you can actually get away with under $20/person with 4 people. It's bigger than a hole-in-the-wall type of place, but is not huge inside, so when it gets busy, it's a bit cramped, but definitely worth checking out at least once if you're in the area, and is miles better than a fast-food chain burger.

Great burgers. Grass fed beef on ciabatta rolls. Perfect onion rings. Varied menu, if you don't care for burgers. I try to stop here every time I'm in Ukiah.

First time customer. Me and my daughter decided to try something new and went into The Alley. Walking in we immediately loved the atmosphere and the amazing aroma. The staff was friendly and so helpful. Eventually we were able to decide on our meal from a great menu. Chicken Philly and pulled pork burger. Delicious!!!! This is our new favorite place to go in Ukiah. Thank you everyone at The Alley!!!!

The restaurant was clean and our host Jared was polite and jumped right in to wipe the table we chose. He also spoke courteously and was attentive. The dining area was small but not cramped. Staff were quick to answer our questions and fulfill our request for cutlery (even though it was in plain sight and I missed seeing it) without any attitude. Staff also worked interchangeably; someone else happened to be nearby when we had a request and they jumped to assist without batting an eye, and multiple staff checked in on us. Food was a bit pricey but very well made, burger was small for the price but very very tasty, and fries were hot and fresh. No loud banter among staff and no angry cursing in the kitchen. Bathroom was clean too. But really, finding good food and staff that don't roll their eyes at you is a treasure these days.

I meant to take a picture of the burger before i destroyed it but it didn't make it that far. I forget the sauce they put on it but the burger was so well balanced. Lots of good flavor, moist, no overwhelming flavors, and cooked perfectly. This place destroys all chains (ie In&Out, 5 guys, etc) this is annoying because they are over 100mi away from me and i caught them passing through Ukiah. Oh, the beef? I'd eat it with a side of potatoes. The beef was very flavorful and delicious that it could stand alone with some grilled onions and mushrooms in top and a side of mashed potatoes. If you want a good burger, this place is a must. And they have unconventional flavors. Guac burgers, Hawaiian, etc. And the bread they use instead of a bun?! Yes. I'm going to be eating here every time i pass through Ukiah. I'm going to be on a first name basis here. The burgers are great! I want to reiterate. I meant to take a bite for taste, then take a picture. I took the bite and forgot about taking the picture until i was down to my last bite.

We had a great time at the alley. First off the Ambiance was great love all the little touches. I had the dumpster burger and my mom had the classic Alley Burger. Both were burgers were fresh and juicy and tasted fantastic and the homemade buns were a special treat. We had a nice big pile of tater tots. and the kids each had a corn dog. The owner Mike even came over to our table and said hi. What a nice surprise. We liked it so much we even bought a dozen truffles to go for a Christmas present. Will definitely be back again!

The roomie and I have been eating here for a minute now and the place is awesome. The service is always really kind and quick to service. The food has been spot on. We either get the burger with Avocado or the fried chicken wraps. I enjoy the sweet potatoes as well. Thanks for the great food and service, always happy to have a meal here 😁

While the atmosphere is not as warm and inviting as my own home it has nothing to do with this restraunts quality of food and service. Alley grill makes fresh and delicious summertime favorites they basically own the market on longtime favorites like the saurekraut on their dog's and the macaroni and cheese bites also a fan of the pastrami burger. Their staff are always friendly and very outgoing not once have I ever had a bad experience can't say enough about this fine establishment and now I'm hungry.

I love The Alley Grill, their food is so good. My husband likes that he can get a good veggie burger and tater tots, I love that I can get my sandwiches on a gluten free bun. I've never had a bad meal here.

Stopped there for lunch with the family on our way to the Bay Area. Friendly service, good food- something for everyone. My husband raved about his burger. Counter ordering- simple but good. Everyone left happy. Highly recommend!

We were on the way to Fort Bragg and the kids couldn't wait that long to eat. I was told there wasn't anything good in Ukiah by auntie so I was already discouraged. Luckily we found quality dinner in The Alley. They have great specials and unique options that taste amazing. And they even bake their own buns!!

I love everything about the Alley Grill!! I love their pesto brown sugar chicken burger, it's really good! The owner is really nice and the service is amazing. The inside of the restaurant is a plus.

So far my mom and I have been there twice and the food was on point both times. The fish and chips and the double burger where both awesome. My mom said the bread is a little dense for a burger but still really good. We would definitely eat here again

The Alley was a great experience. I was in town for work and wanted to find a local spot. Polite, engaging employees. Clean restaurant. Unique menu. I got the Dumpster Burger. My friend got the Alley Chili Cheese Dog. Tots all around. The burgers buns were AMAZING!! Pepsi products. Quick service. The dining room was small. The price was a little steep, but worth it for the experience.

Stopped in for lunch after a long weekend at the lake. So pleased that we did!! Right from the moment we walked in, service was outstanding. We were greeted with a pleasant "hello and welcome" by a guy with a great smile. We were impressed with all the creative and tasty menu options. It was almost hard to decide on what we wanted, but settled for a couple double Dumpster burgers, tots, onion rings, coleslaw, and mozzarella sticks. It arrived quickly and smelled amazing! I was very pleased with the coleslaw, it wasn't limp, had a flavorful but light dressing, and the small was enough to share. The burgers were delicious too! The meat had flavor, was perfectly cooked, and tasty. Everything else was great too. The same guy who took the orders spent time going table to table asking customers how their meals were tasting, unlike other quick diners where you pay, get your food, eat and go. It was nice. Portions were big for the prices, and not at all short on taste. Looking forward to the next time we're up in the area so we can try out other menu items.

A perfect menu with the right amount of options. Just about something for everyone. I ordered the brown sugar bacon burger and garlic fries and it was delicious! They freshly make the buns themselves. The burger was cooked perfectly, still juicy, the bacon was very sweet and also cooked perfectly. (Soft, not a rock hard crunch) The pineapple chutney was an interesting idea, and it gave the burger a sweet tangy taste. Hands down the best burger I've ever had. The garlic were good, real chunks of garlic, not just a garlic powered poured over. The person I was with, ordered the grilled cheese and coleslaw, when she first pulled it appart the cheese stretched and stayed connected for about a foot! The coleslaw had a great first taste. But they do use celery seed, which leaves a weird after taste for me. But most people love celery seed, so that's just a me thing. They also have a draft root beer on tap! It had an amazing flavor. A little pricey, but worth it because it was fresh. When we were close to finishing the meal, the chef came out and asked us how it was. It felt personal. Over all, an amazing place and I will be coming back!

I got the Hawaiian burger. Big, juicy and delicious. The pineapple was whole and grilled, not that canned stuff. So big I couldn't put it in my mouth. Delicious pesto suace and avocado. Staff was friendly. Nice hole in the wall vibe.

I ordered the Brown Sugar Bacon Burger because of another review I found here. Holy buckets it was super good! Really well prepared, juicy, not over cooked and the pineapple chutney was a nice addition. The sweet potato fries were really good, a bit on the small side for the portion and the iced tea was oddly flavored. 4 stars for the price, $16 and change for a burger, fries and a drink. The service was really friendly and fast. I'd go back.

Very very friendly staff! Super cute atmosphere. Glad they have a veggie burger. The fries are great: both regular and sweet potato. Also love the chabata buns. I do wish they would have a vegan burger available. I would definitely come here more often. I also wish they had fountain root beer.

Local burger joint that I like so much. They bake fresh roll here. My favorite is Brown sugar bacon burger and sweet potato fries. Iced tea with lemon wedge after hard working out in the warm day was heavenly. The staff was friendly. I'd come back here repeatedly.

Food was greasy, but delicious. I had the Tropical burger which was loaded with flavor. But there are simpler menu items, too. Service and pricing also good - solid 4 stars all around.

pretty tasty. reuben without rye? 🤔still pretty good though. fries were delicious. fire escape burger was tasty and just the right amount of hot. service was a little eh though. was on hold for 10 minutes while trying to place an order. ended up just heading there to place the order in person.

The cheerful young man explained away some of the deficits well enough - "out of" the good root beer on tap, mistakes on the menu, and odd vibe - as recent changes in owner/management. The cook wasn't able to manage medium rare for the Grass fed burger so the inside 1/2 my very tasty sandwich went home for more grill time. My partner's not so picky and gobbled his Patty Melt down with 2 thumbs up. The slaw was unremarkable. I hope they make this place "their own" with cut fries, and fresh slaw. Nice people !

I really wanted to like this place. They have a lot of things going for them. The service was good. The bun for my burger was fine. Even the cheese was good. Sadly, the one part that wasn't good was the meat. It had been overcooked so that it tasted like leather. It ruined the burger and there wasn't any choice to have it cooked less. I got the Alley Burger. It is 1/3 of a pound. If you want more you have to add another 1/3 pound patty. They don't have a half pound option sadly. Strangely the bun is rectangular and the patties are round so they don't really fit well. Some have remarked that the fries are greasy, something that I'm not a fan of. I found these to be slightly greasy but not too bad. They weren't great fries, but they were OK. I wish they had milkshakes. There are several other burger places in town that are better. I really wanted to like this place. Hopefully, they will cook their burgers less so they don't taste like your shoe. Then I'll be willing to come back.

I picked up an order from here today. I was ignored by the staff. A young girl was sweeping and walked right next to me and gave me a dirty look and continued to ignore me. I have been in a few times and this is always the case with this one girl. Everyone else is better. I would be absolutely livid if I knew my employees were talking to people or lack there of.

M

food is good, but the prices are steep. They have a scant menu with fish fries, and chili. I would prefer a decent meal for a fair price. I had a patty melt that had a little bit of burger the onions were not grilled, and it was soggy with grease. I think it could have been a healthier Burger. No disrespect intended!

S

Heard it was the best burger place in Ukiah. Tried for the first time and it was terrible. The burger was swimming in mayo and the fries were soggy grease bombs. It was like they took frozen fries dipped them in grease and put them in a go box. We literally had to cook them in our own skillet when we came home which defeats the purpose of take out. After wiping off the Mayo and getting fresh bread and lettuce the burger was decently remade. Do not go here. Terrible food.

The worst order of garlic fries I have ever paid for. They were so greasy I could not eat them. Pools of Greece in the bottom of the to go to containers so much so that it was leaking out of the bottom of the container

I have read the reviews and was thrilled to try this burger joint. We get to the counter and ordered 2 burgers and a large garlic frenchfry with to sodas. The total was 35$ it costing that I figured has to be amazing. The food comes after the served 2 other people who came in after us. My burgers were served with nasty veggies and the bread was hard. The meat was good but the soda machine was all carb and my French fries were cold and had hardly any garlic or garlic taste. I feel that for the price I should have been served better.

Terrible burger. Way overcooked, so dry. Was told it would take about 15 minutes, I said ok great thank you. He brought it out in about 3 minutes. No way that was cooked to order. Precooked and reheated.
