Please refrain from negative reviews! You'll find the best pizza in town here! Clothes don't make the man.
Very good pizza, it was ready very quick!
Best place I ever been. So great staff, food is the best I ever eated. Place is really comfortable. No words for this place, just amazing!!! :)
Welcoming place and very nice and friendly staff😁....you can't park near the place because it's right in the center of Varallo but in front there is a small square where you can drop off children... elderly or disabled people🥰....the pizzas were really good...and the price was not at all exaggerated....if you pass by Varallo, a stop here is highly recommended😁👍
Excellent food and price.
Very nice. Very friendly. Good value
The food was good, the service was quick and nice, but they charged us an extra €1.5 per person for dining in.
The food is good and really cheap but the restaurant isn't that nice
Ho mangiato un discreto fritto di calamari. Ambiente semplice e pulito. Servizio abbastanza veloce. Posizione centrale, nella passeggiata di Varallo Sesia.
We had a pretty good time. The outside table we were given was a little too small for four people and a bit in the middle of the street, but despite that, the pizzas were very good and the service was quick. The prices were reasonable.
A restaurant right in the center with a large indoor dining room and small outdoor tables. Both inside and out, however, it's so chaotic that it feels more like a trattoria than a restaurant. They sat us in the farthest corner of the outdoor area, alone, under a balcony with people upstairs arguing. The menu is varied, but the dishes chosen don't reflect what's written. For example, the penne with creamed zucchini and shrimp (I quote the menu) were served as penne with chopped zucchini and two shrimp, but above all, with tons of pepper and no oil. It was so inedible that we left it alone. Another surprise was finding spaghetti besides the penne; basically, everything was cooked together. The seafood spaghetti was bland and lacked seafood. The salad was not fresh, with several rotten leaves. The bread, oil, and salt were requested but not brought immediately. The service, while courteous and very friendly, even affable because it's a busy hub, was very confusing and left customers feeling a bit abandoned. In fact, we were truly isolated and almost had to get up to call them. The final price took into account the failure of the penne with zucchini dish, which was pointed out as inedible and was not included in the total amount paid. All of this also resulted in a significant hygiene flaw. A shame because expectations for the place were initially high, but the result was quite disappointing. A.
Eravamo in tre. Pizze arrivate in tre momenti diversi.
ONLY GO THERE IF YOU CAN'T FIND ANYTHING ELSE, so you don't starve! On August 15th, two friends and I, along with their dog, went in for a simple, unpretentious lunch. It was crowded, but they still found us a table inside. We appreciated it. It was immediately obvious that the place wasn't the best in terms of hygiene and service, but it was okay. We opted for three pizzas and some fries to snack on, since the first courses didn't appeal to us at all: I had a vegetable pizza, my friend had cherry tomatoes and arugula, and my friend had onion and parmesan (unclear in what form). The wait was long, but it didn't bother us because we were aware of the people ahead of us, and the fries arrived fairly quickly. Meanwhile, we noticed a few unpresentable figures (perhaps the manager) coming and going from the kitchen, and (presumably) clean glasses being brought to the tables by sticking fingers in them. The pizzas arrive, a symbol of the shortage: mine with a slice of eggplant and a slice of zucchini, my friend's with a cherry tomato cut into quarters and a bit of arugula on top for filling, and my friend's with five small pieces of onion sprinkled (and here's the highlight) with still-clumpy grated Parmesan, like a pasta. We eat with resignation; all in all, it's edible. A stop in the bathroom: cleanliness is unknown. The whole thing could have ended there. We get to the checkout and the dog, to our surprise since this has never happened before, pees right in the passageway: she had done it before entering, perhaps the heat or some other discomfort. It shouldn't happen, but it did. My friend immediately handles the situation, apologizing numerous times and insisting on cleaning up after herself to make up for what happened. The manager, visibly annoyed, comments with a sharp and intuitive remark, "You should have taken him out first (the dog), not been there last!" (THANK THE FIRE!!), almost as if to call the owner incompetent. Meanwhile, a kind lady arrives to clean. I pay, and the young lady at the cashier, caught up in the mood, decides to make a joke of her own, thinking she's being funny: "Then let's add 10 euros for cleaning, hahaha." A joke that, when I look at her, she tries to dismiss with a "I was just kidding." It seemed like a ragtag bunch of people with evidently poor cooking skills and little knowledge of the basics (hygiene first and foremost) for that type of business. It goes without saying that we don't recommend it, nor will we return.
SCONSIGLIATISSIMO
Don't even come in... After seeing the filth in the bathroom, I had to run away... the toilet was worse than any public restroom in a Calcutta station. Then came the lipstick-stained water glass, a long white dog or cat hair on one of the pizzas, the stained tablecloth, and we were the first customers. The ham on the prosciutto pizza wasn't sliced, as it usually is, but in tufts that looked already chewed. An experience to forget.
.... The only thing that's reminiscent of the Blue Grotto is the name... which doesn't match the setting at all. A very neglected, unsanitary place that's both impressive and perplexing, not to mention the cleanliness of the bathroom. A place to avoid, especially if you have children.
We were four friends on vacation who, having found no other open places, opted for this pizzeria. Three pizzas with buffalo mozzarella and cherry tomatoes: holes in them, and one buffalo mozzarella was missing. The dough was RAW. A star-and-stripes pizza was also raw, with toppings thrown on top and burned. The table was stuck in a corner with broken chairs, next to dirty walls and a dusty floor. The only positive note was the more than fair bill.
I think their good fortune is the traffic, as it's a tourist spot, and they'll obviously never return. Interminable waits. You're escorted to your table and you sit there, without a menu, waiting. You have to get up or call the waiters because they don't even look at you. Even when you manage to order, the wait is interminable. They don't bring drinks right away. Our food arrived before the beer. The guys seem disoriented, clearly unprepared, and the pizza chef (owner?) is rude, rude to his colleagues and taunts the customers. I'm sorry because the guys apologized multiple times. The pizza is obviously not good, thick, and difficult to cut.
A terrible restaurant, very disorganized, with very rude and unprofessional staff. We were seated outside, a group of 20. We asked for starters, then pizzas. The pizzas arrived first, and the starters an hour later! The food was terrible; the pizza was like cardboard and tasteless. When we went to pay, it was disorganized; they had no records or receipts (obviously to avoid paying taxes), and I don't know what I paid since the total kept changing and there was no breakdown. I do not recommend this place; it was a terrible experience. Horrible. I wouldn't even give it one star if I could. It was a nightmare evening for all of us. We will never return to this place. I can't seriously call it a restaurant. It definitely isn't.
