Grew up coming here. I know different owners have come and gone. I hadn't been back in years. But they did not disappoint. Rice, beans, carnitas, asada, fish tacos. My kids and I, along with my husband enjoyed it very much.
Just dropped by to try their shrimp burrito. A little expensive at $14, but well worth it. Very tasty burrito with tons of succulent shrimp cooked to perfection. Just a great burrito and great service that's worth the price paid. Thank you Pepe's!
I LOVE THAT PLACE ONCE MORE WITH NEW ORIGINAL OWNERS , FOOD IS JUST LIKE THE OLD DAYS.HAVE BEEN GOING THERE FOR OVER 45 YEARS..MY FAVORITE PLACE TO EAT IN OXNARD , GO THERE EVERY TIME I VISIT FROM FRESNO, WHY I COME TO OXNARD. 🤣😂 .LOVE THEIR T - SHIRTS & SWEATSHIRTS TOO..VERY COOL LOOKING ..
The food here was amazing, so much so my Uber driver Dave recommended it. He was right. We were visiting the area from Kansas City, Missouri (the larger one, not Kansas), and we returned several times during our visit. We noticed the locals were frequent visitors, so we knew we were on the right path.
This restaurant is delicious A+++. Staff friendly and polite. This is a walk-up restaurant. Has outside seating. They also serve beer.
They donated food for Caregivers fundraiser. I enjoyed my fish taco and know the restaurant is under new management. It is so much better than the last management. If you had a bad experience, it is worth another try. Thank you to new management for making this place worth my while!
It just a little corner restaurant with limited outdoor seating and great Mexican food.
Seems to be a different owner. But is still really good. NICE TRANFER OF YUMMY! Always great fish tacos, for as long as i can remember, and my memory stretches back for weeks. , shrimp tacos good too, but go for the fish taco.
My husband and I just found by chance, staying at navy lodging. The best best burrito we have had! Great rice, beans, meat! Was awesome 👌
It's always a great spot to visit when I'm in town, especially with Mario being the owner. The food is always on point
The machaca burrito was excellent. It is really hard to find that makes really good machaca. I will be back to try the other burritos. Please support this business!!!!
It's a real coin flip between here and Jesse's, but if you want fish tacos and maybe a brown bag from across the street to enjoy at their outdoor dining this is the place! No problem.
The $11 burrito is very tasty and satiating burger, the fish tacos and shrimp tacos are especially tasty
Solid hamburger and fries and friendly staff
We are visiting the area and tried this place for carry out. The owners were super nice and accommodating with my order. I asked for a lot of the toppings on the side so our food wouldn't get soggy until we got home which worked out great, recommended doing this for carry out! The food was priced well and was pretty good. I got the surf & turn burrito and it was delicious and definitely enough for 2 people! We also got carne asada fries but the fries were a bit soggy. Maybe they should fry the fries longer. If you like your fries soft, you may like them. The crispy beef taco was great and the taquitos were our favorite. So good. We got beef but we would get both beef and chicken next time, they were that good! We got the fish tacos which were ok, I wouldn't get them again but everything else was great!
This is a locals taco stand that serves burritos as well. All seating is outside. It's a beach community place to have breakfast, lunch or dinner. It's been there for years and I hope it remains there. Forever food is great. People are friendly. Prices are reasonable.
Huge burrito, definitely not stingy with the portions. Got the chorizo breakfast burrito which was very flavorful. Wife ordered the taquitos which were good, but probably could use more seasoning on the beef. All in all, nice little place right on the harbor.
I have to get the fish tacos whenever I come to town. This place is classic. Very very cool!
Pretty good mexican food. It’s not a place you can bring the family and sit down and eat but you can take it down to the beach or pick it up on the go. There’s some seating outside but it’s not enough for a family. A lot of people come here for lunch during the work week. You will have to stand and wait but it’s worth it. The prices are pretty cheap compared to big chain Mexican food places. I recommend this place if you don’t mind getting some sun and waiting for your food standing. Since I’m in office, being out in the sun for 5-10 minutes is a good lunch break.
Welcome Back O.G. Fish Burritos!! Last owner ruined it, Happy the Original Owner is back and making them Awesome like the Good Old Days!! 🙏🏼👍🏼🤙🏼
The shrimp tacos were amazing. Going to try and make something similar...too good to not even try😋
Great place for a good meal and a nice ocean breeze

The food was delicious. The chef was very accommodating to ny friends food preference. She wanted a flour tortilla fir her taco. He doesn't usually have flour taco shells. He made one fir her. The staff and customers wetter very friendly. Its axqyicj place to grab a delicious taco, or butrioti
Surf and Turf Burrito by the beach is a must! It is California style with fries too are you kidding me? Favorite spot by Silverstrand.
I love Pepe's they have the best shrimp tacos and burritos all their food is absolutely delicious and at great prices not expensive at all and definetly will be going back.
Hands down, best Mexican food in Oxnard (&affordable!). Tacos, taquitos, burritos, nachos—you name it, they’ve got it and you bet it’s done incredibly well. Allergies? Just let them know and they’ll make sure you’re taken care of. Jorge always goes above + beyond. Needless to say, I’ve found my Oxnard carnitas fix and am officially a Pepe’s convert.
This place has a great old school, taco shop vibe; makes it even better that it's near the beach! I got a chile relleno burrito that was probably the best I've ever had. What made it great was the phenomenally fluffy egg coating and lite breading. The fresh chips and pico de gallo topped it off really well and together made the meal fantastic! The service was super friendly. Fast and efficient. Prices are reasonable. Large portions too. I recommend giving them a visit anytime you are in the area.
Small Mexican hole in the wall. I was told that they're under precious ownership again so quality has gone back up, but I can't compare since this is my first time here. Thing to know is they accept zelle but other than that bring cash. Cashier was super helpful and friendly. I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp and everyone else got burritos. The burritos are insanely huge. We had a couple of runners in the shoreline marathon that needed sustenance and it hit the spot. That being said, if you get a burrito be prepared to eat a monster. Ingredients are fresh. The salsa was not very spicy. Even the roja was pretty mild, which is fine with me since I can't handle very spicy foods. If you're starving don't get the bacon wrapped shrimp. I was fine with it since I'd eaten a little before we got there. It was tasty, but shrimps were very small and costs $14. Parking is mainly free street parking so it can get a little hard to find since I think a lot of the restaurants in the same street share that street parking. They have a few picnic tables, but for the most part, people usually do take out.

While Pepe's does not compare to Mexican food in the valley, it wasn't bad. I came out to visit a friend, and this was where we had lunch. I got a burrito, which was filling, but it was not flavorful, although the salsa verde was pretty decent. The lady who took our order was very sweet. All in all, it was a good experience, but if you're looking for truly authentic Mexican food, this is not the place.
I really like the food at this small establishment. The biggest problem is parking. Consequently, I make a point of going at off hours. Doing this I have found a place to park. The people inside are very helpful, friendly, and accommodating. Thanks for your great food.
Pepe's has remained consistently good, even during ownership changes over the years. Don't forget it's a cash only business when so many are trying to train us towards cashless. Bring your cash money or hope the ATM is working at The Corner Store across the street!
Cute little beach restaurant. The food was a bit overpriced for what we received. It was tasty, but just wasn't made well. My burrito had hot sauce in it, and it was 3 bits had heat and the rest of the burrito didn't.
Pepe’s is a perfect place to go to when you’re fresh out of the beach. The location and view of the water is really nice and the food itself was pretty peng. However, the food did take a little time being made and served, but other than that, this place is great. If you were to ever visit here, I recommend getting the fish burrito, but with extra hot sauce on the side.
I ordered the carnitas burrito and it was perfect. The salsa was fresh and the service was cordial. It's a stand so seating is outside and public; the tables need a little love. But based on the food, they did really well.
The first time I went to Pepe's Mexican food under new management somebody recommended them to me so I went to order something for the first time I had tacos, beef tacos, with rice and beans, The beans were a little bit soggy but they were okay unless that's the way they are the rice was good The meat was fresh , I only eat beef tacos. I like because they had horchata, and drinking water. And outside it was clean The only thing there was a lot of flies. They keep coming around when I was eating.. but overall everything was good. I think it's so important that everything is clean especially when you're eating. The food is prepared fresh which it was cuz , He told me that he's the cook. Oh the only thing was that it had two yellow things inside I think it was chilly which I cannot eat but I just took it out no biggie. And I ordered things without onions and chili only mild sauce made out of tomato. ( I went for the second time but I think that you didn't understand what I was saying I told her that I can only eat beef no pork so when I ate the taco I think it was pork and it was very dry and choked a little bit on it but I ate a little bit of it I hope it wasn't pork cuz I don't eat pork only beef. I talked to the young lady that worked there and I guess they gave me the wrong thing but that's okay next time I go for the third time I'll make sure it's 100% beef but the owner or the guy that serves me the first time is the one that cooks the meat This one was different so next time I go I'll make sure that he is there The cook or the owner of the Pepe's Mexican restaurant under new management. Everything was clean outside the only thing was there was a lot of flies. It was a little difficult to eat my, food. Because they were all over the area but overall the food was delicious I had to call to get some tortillas side orders cuz they got really busy I think it's because I put it on Facebook. When I order my tortillas I got them as soon as they were not busy in the tortillas were good The first time I went I was referred to them but my hairdresser. I asked them where is your place to eat and they said that the place was good and they had good food and it was under new management. Thank you so much to the new owners of the place, pepes Mexican restaurant under new management. I hope the computers filled it right. Thank you. 👍
It has been at least 15 years since I have eaten at this landmark. I live about 90 minutes away and grew up with PMF in my teens 30 years ago. My friends would show up here, wait in line happily, and devour the meals. When I ordered these two tacos in the pic, it was like stepping back in time. The Ensenada Fish taco was the same unique flavor like it was for me in 1993! Crazy good. The Asada taco was also good. The prices have gone up but that’s everywhere else too. The portions are decent for the price but it’s definitely more expensive than most places that I know for similar food. Get some tacos and go to the beach. Listen to the waves while you experience a taste of Ensenada here on Silver Strand.
Went on a trip with my buddy to SoCal drove all the to Oxnard from San Diego to try this place hes always talking about how he would eat amazing fish tacos here while growing up in Ventura. I ordered three fish tacos, the tacos were really good I love the spicy sauce they come with it goes well with the tacos. As far as the fish, it had good flavor just felt like it had been reheated. Whether or not it was it doesn't really matter I like the flavor of try again next time I find myself up in Oxnard/Ventura area.
Chill spot with good food. My favorite are the fish tacos.

Agree with Albert (and probably bought my burritos from him in the 90s and early 2000s). Living in Kansas now, but definitely miss those burritos!! Absolutely amazing! Disappointed in the recent reviews! Hope they get it together cuz I still recommend it to anyone and always stop by for a burrito whenever I’m there for a visit! Pepe’s, a terrific place in the past, worth at least a try, so check it out and please leave a review.
We stopped by as this was recommended as a local staple for a long time by family, and were very disappointed! This may be due to new ownership, but id never eat here again. Our order was wrong and we were over charged, the fish tasted burnt, stale chips, the sauces were way too spicy which is why i ordered no spicy sauce and got spicy anyways- returned it to find they must rely on that spice as there was no other flavor to the shrimp tacos. Not to mention it was far too over priced for the quality. So bummed.
I am so disappointed in my recent meal from Pepe’s. No chili relleno burritos available, no guacamole available even though they had avocado, old rice (it was crunchy), stale chips - overall a disappointment. This used to be a favorite local taco stand. I understand Pepe’s is under new management (maybe ownership too, I am unsure), but if this is what we can expect going forward, I’d rather have Taco Bell.
Overly priced not too tastey. Ordered tacos, they didn't have cilantro, onions, etc. They only had lots of lettuce and a bit of cheese. No Mexican flavor. Burrito was the same. Only two soft tacos and one $13 burrito, total $23. For take out, no napkins, or salsa; because the price of meat and beans have gone up! Oh well their sign did say ask for prices. I should have asked. Won't be going there again!
I used to come here all of the time growing up and it was good, but times have changed! I stopped by today to grab some nachos and was extremely disappointed! $6 for small asada nachos. I don't mind paying for good food, but this was NOT good! They microwaved the nachos, so the chips were nice and stale. The toppings were not any better. Another customer was asking for little street tacos and was told they are $2 each (that person just walked away aftet hearing the price). While I waited for them to finish microwaving my nacho I watched the flies crawling all over the inside of the glass Windows and couldn't help but wonder what else they were crawling on in there. Definately won't be back!
Pepe's is a go to Mexican Restaurant, when there is No Place else to go. From what I've gathered, the former owner was much more down to earth and a little less greedy! Raymond, although okay, does leave a little to be desired. Frankly, the food is Not that great either. If you try the tamale, prepare for a weird experience. The flavor was Not what I've come to expect from a tamale. Perhaps the masa mixture wasn't up to par today? Not really sure what happened, but it wasn't very pleasant. On to the fish taco. Looked great, tasted good, but why wasn't the fish crispy? It was deep fried, but perhaps this was a piece that wasn't recently cooked? Not sure. Raymond, get real with Your Prices, man. In addition, please check the masa mixture on your tamales. Lastly, when someone asks if the parking in front of your 'shack' is valid parking, Don't come at them and say, 'are you gonna buy anything?' Dude, you Do Not Own the Public Streets of Oxnard! Relax before you bust a vein. Would I try Pepe's again? Ehhh gotta give them another chance to redeem themselves, but Seriously, a lot has got to change!

Worst fish tacos I’ve ever had. The salsa tasted like Valentina or tapatío. Who puts that on restaurant food? Crazy and one end of the fish was completely burnt.
