The Orchard was an amazing experience for me! The staff were top notch, friendly, giving me a warm welcome on a frigid January evening! The Orchard Burger was recommended by the staff and it did not disappoint! I chose the fries over the salad and they were equally as amazing as the burger! I intended to save part of dinner so I could fit dessert in my belly, but I couldn’t stop because it was so tasty! It was gone before I knew it! I didn’t stop there, of course, I had to try the Cider Farm Apple Fritter donuts. They wouldn’t have survived the night, if I had had self control with that burger! I am so happy I found the Orchard! Visiting Verona, staying at the Fairfield in down the road. When I checked in I received a restaurant recommendation list. During the week I tried two other restaurants within walking distance of the hotel and was left wanting. The Orchard was far beyond expectations!
The most friendly staff I've ever had. So attentive and welcoming. The food is great and the drinks are good. Can't wait to visit again! Worth the trip from Madison
Tried this place for brunch! Unlimited mimosas were lovely and the service - immaculate! Our server was Susan and she was lovely and recommended the lunch and dinner menu! Colleen, the bartender, was so fun to chat with and was on top of our drinks and making sure we're taken care of! I had the smoked salmon eggs benedict and my boyfriend had the French toast. I'll get it again and the French toast was so good! We recommend both! We will be back to try the pizza and dinner for sure!
I will absolutely be coming back here! Everything about this restaurant was amazing! The space was beautiful, food was excellent, drinks were delightful, the staff was friendly and knowledgable, and the owner was very nice and checking in with everyone. They have quite a variety of offerings, and a lot of allergen friendly options. Most items on the menu are either already gluten free, or can be made gluten free, and there are a lot of vegetarian options too. I am gluten free, and was extremely excited that they have a DEDICATED gluten free fryer, so everything fried is gluten free!!! I have not had fried cheese curds or chicken in 11 years! The staff were extremely helpful explaining the dedicated fryer, and other practices to prevent any cross contamination, which made me feel safe in eating here. I had the n/a orange refresher to drink, and split the gluten free cheese curds and onion baji fritters appetizers with my friends. Then I had the hot fried chicken sandwich for dinner. It was amazing, very flavorful, and did I mention it was a fried chicken sandwich (it has been a long time)! My friend had the fried cod tacos, which are also gluten free, and are what I plan to have next time. Neither of my friends are gluten free, however they loved all of the food and couldn't tell that it was gluten free, which is a win on all sides! All in all, Orchard is a fantastic place to stop in for a meal, and especially if you need allergen friendly food, it is your next place to try!
Newer place. Very clean. All employees were very kind and helpful. Owner greeted us at our table, was nice to talk with, and very knowledgeable. Our waitress, Aspen, was awesome! The food was served quickly and was very tasty!
Had a great meal on Orchard’s patio last Thursday. We started off with the cider flight and cheese curds, and then shared the Caesar Salad and Smash Burger. We took the Cider Donuts to go, which were incredible. Everything was fresh and great! Really nice location and restaurant.
Service was great. My favorite was the hot chicken sandwich and fries!!!! Also the imperial cider was super tasty. Definitely coming back.
Fun, cool new restaurant with a wide selection of cider. Who knew there were so many kinds of cider? Cider 5/5 Wood fired pizza 5/5 Cheese 5/5 Bread 3/5 and needs an olive oil choice Walleye 4/5
I’ve been a longtime fan of the Cider Farm from their days at Brennan’s, so I was thrilled to see Orchard open right in my neighborhood. It’s such a special place—rooted in the values of farm-to-table dining and locally sourced ingredients, with the added charm of cider made from apples grown on their very own farm. Every time I’ve stopped into the Cidery Room, the owner, John, has been there to personally greet guests with genuine warmth. That kind of hospitality makes a difference and sets the tone for the whole experience. Opening weekend had a few bumps—we had a reservation that ended up being canceled due to overbooking—but we came back a few days later and had a great time. The staff were friendly and attentive and John was there to greet us as usual. We got the mac and cheese made with Hook’s cheese and the Orchard Burger, which was juicy and satisfying. The cider, of course, was fantastic and we enjoyed the cocktails as well. We’re so happy to have Orchard in the neighborhood. Looking forward to many more visits here especially in the summer when their patio is open.
The Farmer's Breakfast, Superior Walleye, and a side of pancakes were excellent. The pancakes were crispy on the edges and soft and fluffy in the middle. I look forward to coming back and trying more dishes.
The Orchard is such a gem for Verona! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the owner and staff couldn’t be nicer. It’s a great sit-down option for our community, and we’re lucky to have it. We brought the kids along and they loved it too, the space is family-friendly, and the food hit the mark for everyone. The pizza and burgers are both excellent, but the Orchard Burger especially stood out. One highlight was chatting with the bartender at a prior visit, who explained that their cider is like their version of white wine, that completely changed how I think about hard cider. Definitely worth checking out!
This place is fantastic! Best burger I have had in a while. I asked if they had a raspberry iced tea and it wasn’t on the menu but they made me one anyway and it was the best raspberry ice tea I have ever had.
My husband is a home cider maker and so it was exciting to hear of a place that opened focused on ciders. He really enjoyed trying a cider he hadn’t yet been able to make at home. Servers were pretty attentive, chairs were very comfortable, we had a few mishaps with our food (looking at other reviewers it seems our apple pizza was not quite right) but we are looking forward to returning to try other ciders.
John + his team are amazing. Wonderful service, beautiful food and amazing ambiance inside + out on the patio.
What a gem! Good service, great cider, amazing food. Wouldn't change a thing.
8.9 update - phenomenal food and service! This is definitely a new favorite. —— Food and beverages were great! We will definitely be back to see how they grow over time!
I’ve been here for brunch and dinner. Both were really great experiences! Incredibly warm and welcoming staff, delicious food, and a great space. I really enjoy sitting by the fireplace in the winter.
Wonderful spot for a June afternoon/sunset cider! The food was awesome and the staff had interesting recommendations for drinks and locals' stories about them. If I was in the area again I would make a return trip easily!
Absolutely lovely place. We came with our dog to sit on the patio, and they had a water bowl for us right away! We got the soft pretzel, pizza, and cider flights. We've had many of their ciders over the years at their previous location so we knew we'd love those, but this was our first time having food, and it was delicious!
Great family night with my husband and 2 children. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Made our anniversary dinner so special. Food was great as well.
If you're anywhere near Wisconsin and looking for a place that serves up comfort food with a local twist, Orchard is an absolute must visit. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that perfectly pairs with their farm-to-table philosophy, especially when it comes to apples! The soft pretzels and cheese curds are a fantastic way to start your meal, crispy on the outside, warm and gooey on the inside, with just the right amount of salt. Their mac and cheese is rich and creamy, an absolute must try! But the real surprise was the apple pizza, a unique and delicious combination of sweet and savory that showcases their homegrown apples in the most creative way. It's unlike anything you've had before, and totally worth trying. For dessert, don't skip the apple brandy cobbler. It's warm, comforting, and has just the right touch of boozy sweetness from their house-made brandy. Their hard apple cider is in a league of its own. Crisp, refreshing, and made from apples grown right from their orchard. It’s a perfect pairing for everything on the menu. Whether you're stopping in for a casual lunch, a cozy dinner, or just a cider tasting, Orchard delivers a truly Wisconsin experience with a sweet apple twist. Highly recommend!
I had dinner there recently, and it was fantastic! I got the Orchard Burger. Much to the chagrin of the staff, I asked for it well-done, but it was nonetheless very good. Service was very good. I sat at the (full-service) bar, and the staff on the other side were attentive. One of the owners even came up to check how I was doing! You won't go wrong with this place. I'm already planning to return with some friends to try the brunch! Update: The brunch was even better than the dinner!
Never had cider before. Absolutely loved it. So many exquisite tastes and lower alcohol my typical favorite wines. The food tasting was also delicious. We had cheese curds, lamb and pizza….all excellent. But the most important factor on our great evening was the service. Our host Colleen was superb. And the owner, John, was a pleasure to visit with. First class place. Can’t recommend more highly. We even bought bottles to share with friends. Regards to all, V&B from Virginia.
Will definitely be returning! The service was wonderful and the food was delicious! My family and I were all saying how this was the best mac and cheese we've ever had. Staff was very friendly. We loved the Orchard!!
We had an amazing experience at Orchard! We were celebrating a birthday, and from the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome. The owner personally greeted us—he was so friendly and accommodating, which really added a special touch to our visit. We started with a cider flight, which was absolutely delicious, and our server was fantastic—friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered the Apple Orchard pizza, and it did not disappoint—fresh, flavorful, and unique! For a brand-new restaurant, everything ran smoothly, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The entire staff was upbeat and kind, which made the visit even better. We’re already looking forward to coming back and checking out the outdoor patio once it opens. Highly recommend this place—Verona has a real gem in Orchard!
Had a great meal here with some friends. Bartender accidentally made my drink wrong but made me a new one free of charge. Would definitely come back sometime to try more of the menu. Really enjoyed the desserts. All of the staff were great too.
Upscale restaurant in far west Verona. Went for brunch on Sunday, party of 11. Everyone thought the food was excellent. I had the farmers plate - two strips of bacon, two eggs, two sausage links, sourdough toast, and cubed potato chunks. All were very tasty. Server was friendly and attentive. $20.00 for the farmers plate, other selections a little less.
We had a great time at Orchard for girls night! Cocktails and food were delicious and it was the perfect atmosphere for mingling and catching up! The owners grow their own brandy apples for their brandy! The owner also personally came and checked on us and chatted with us as we left. Very nice place, we’ll be back!
I met my friend here for dinner. My friend knows most of the staff very well. And what a lovely little place! I have never been to a restaurant where the staff was more friendly and accommodating. Not to mention the food was outstanding, really! So many new things that I tried here that I've never thought to combine together. I'm definitely going to come back more often. This is one of the best places I've ever been to as a long-term diner in Madison. I highly recommend trying the pizza and the animal fries.
My family and I had a large party at The Orchard yesterday with 20 people. John and his staff went above and beyond. I messed up the time of our reservation, and they happily accommodated our 20-person group more than 30-minutes early. Our waitress was kind and efficient and had no problem separating checks into six different families. The food and drinks were phenomenal. The atmosphere was lovely. We will definitely be back, and highly recommend!
This was our first time here. We sat at a nice two-top at a window. The host, felt like he was the owner, was incredibly nice, warm, and welcoming. He even stopped at our table a little later to talk. Very nice. Our server, Laura, was just as fantastic....very friendly, polite, and very helpful. She even allowed us to sample a few ciders to help us make a decision on a cocktail. Very good service! We ended up choosing the Manhattan in the Orchard with a rock for our cocktail. One of the most flavorful Manhattans we have ever had....very tasty and satisfying....just what we needed. And it paired beautifully with the Lamb Meatballs we ordered for a starter. They were absolutely delicious! For our Entree, we ordered the Salsiccia Sausage pizza. It was very well balanced with pizza sauce, fresh mozzarella, and delicious Italian sausage. The crust was also amazing! We enjoyed a wonderful Cline Pinot Noir with our pizza and they paired perfectly! We finished our meal with the Apple Brandy Cobbler. It was served in a small cast iron pan, freshly made with delicious apple slices, fresh granola, and a sauce that was to die for! It came ala-mode with delicious vanilla ice cream from Sassy Cow Creamery. OMG was that amazing! The entire experience was perfect. We loved how most of the products they use are local.....very nice touch! Ready to head out, we enjoyed another nice chat with the host. We are very much looking forward to our next visit! Thank you all for a wonderful experience.
Orchard hosted our group for a Mom's Night Out event and we had such a great time! The food, drinks, and atmosphere were top-notch, and I will definitely be coming back! Highly recommend checking this place out:)
First time visiting and can't wait to come back! I had the hot mulled apple cider and it was as delicious as it was strong but then again I'm a light weight. To eat my husband got the Hot Chicken Sandwich with truffle fries and I had the Smash burger with Orchard Salad. Generous portions means I have some left overs for tonight. Staff was friendly and the owner came over a couple times to say hello and refill our waters. 5/5!
Stopped here while in Madison for the day. It’s always hard to find good gluten free options, I was so impressed to see that most of the menu was gluten free or could be modified to gluten free. They even have a dedicated gluten free fryer, which is rare. I had the fried chicken sandwich and my husband had the smash burger. Both were excellent. Service was friendly and we even chatted with the owner for a bit. We will definitely come back when we pass through town again.
Lovely venue! We had excellent service and no wait with our reservation. Drinks were delicious and drinks featured their apples in tasty ciders and cocktails. Our food was very good and lots of gluten free options were appreciated. Desserts also featured their apples and were amazing!
Stopped on our way out of town and this place was a gem. Gluten Free fryer made it a perfect place for my wife. All our food (GF fried chicken sandwich and burger) was delicious. Service was great. Owner stopped by the table was delightful to talk to. Will make it a priority to swing by on future visits.
We ordered the fish fry all around on a Friday night. We were able to sit outside and enjoy their patio with beautiful lighting. This is the best fish fry I've had in decades!! The fish was cooked perfectly, the breading was scrumptious and not too thick. It was made from cornmeal and had a bit of crunch. The french fries were seasoned perfectly. The tartar sauce was out of this world and good for dipping the fries as well as the fish. The portion sizes were generous with two pieces of fried fish on top of french fries served on a wooden plank with coleslaw and tartar sauce on the side. Very beautifully presented and mmmmm... so good
Delicious, fresh food and courteous staff. Everything was beautifully prepared, not over cooked or too salty. The ciders (equinox and imperial) are some of the best we've had. We'll be back!
Good service and a nice atmosphere. Food is all right but not the best for it’s pricing. Semi-large portions but I wouldn’t recommend this place sadly. I thought the food would be better, but my burger did not look very tasty and was very expensive.
We enjoyed our pizza, however they need to do a little more training with their waitstaff. They were unable to answer simple questions regarding the food and even what type of soda they offered. That will improve with time.
Located in front of the Verona high school. Friendly staff. Sat outside. Quiet lunch. Food was good. I'm doing this after the fact, so I don't remember what I ate 🥴. Wife had hot honey chicken. 👍
We dined here for the 1st time on New Year's Eve. We appreciated the reasonable, fixed price 3 course meal offering with limited choice for each course. We enjoyed the view out the windows as we dined. My husband and I enjoyed the flight of standard ciders. I enjoyed the decaf coffee presentation with dessert.
I know they just opened, so I will revisit and update the review later. Reservations on OpenTable were easy and there was no wait time after entering. I want to start out by adding everyone on staff we talked to was polite and friendly but there did seem to be only 1 waiter for the whole room which might have contributed to some of the problems I'm about to describe: THE SERVICE - We had reservations for 11:00 a.m. and we did not end up leaving until close to 1:00 p.m. Our toddler that we had brought started to get cranky since we've been there for so long waiting and his nap time was approaching. And waiting was the name of the game. If you go here, do not expect a fast or normal amount of time. Budget for it being a slow vibe. - We probably waited 30-45+ minutes after we were done with appetizers before we got our main food. -I then probably waited another 20 minutes when we were finished to get my bill. - I never got checked on by my waiter in between any of these times. - something as simple as wanting napkins at our table since it did not have any rolled silverware on it like the others took around 15 minutes from the time we declared we wanted them to ourselves to the time we actually got our waiter and brought it to his attention because he was so busy. THE FOOD: - I had a smashburger and fries. The smashburger was not very seasoned but it was tolerable. The fries on the other hand I did not care for. They reminded me of the fries from the Cleveland side of Ohio where it's a lot of skin and floppy, not very crispy. Maybe they put all of their hope into the burger sauce, which I did not partake in. - My son enjoyed his mac and cheese and for a kids, mac and cheese, it was an extremely generous portion. - The thing we really loved the most was the cheese curds. They were fried to perfection. The only problem that I personally have with them was it was $13 and we had about seven curds in total coming to around $2 per curd. Seems kind of expensive. - The pretzel was mediocre. It wasn't as soft as the description would tell you. I think it was slightly overcooked. - My wife said her eggs Benedict was okay and did not elaborate any further. - my wife did love the cider. ATMOSPHERE: We enjoyed the atmosphere quite a bit. I think it they tune their recipes and up their service, this score will be changing in the future. Seems like a great place to go drink with friends. Price: for me, my wife and my child with one alcoholic drink (for my wife) and two appetizers plus two main courses and a kids meal, the total cost was around $100.
Was excited to try something new and different in Verona but unfortunately it turned out to be just another mediocre local restaurant wrapped up in a fancy bow. The menu offerings were sparse...2 burgers and a hot spicy chicken sandwich. Pizzas. Apps. A few entrees. Just like you'd find at bars and grills all over town...except higher prices. The ambience was great and gives off the impression that the place would offer farm to table cuisine with layered and unique flavors and fresh variety of options. Perhaps if the menu changed to make it stand out more I'd give it another go.
Recently stopped here for a weekday lunch. Had the cheese curds and the fish tacos. Was not a big fan of the batter that was on the cheese curds, which I believe may be the same batter they utilize for their fish. It does, however, work very well for the fish. Had their Apple brandy old fashioned, which was strong, & and would not get again. It definitely was apply & an old fashioned but I’ve had better. Overall, the food was not bad, but was not overly impressed. I may be willing to try it again.
This is solely for the food as we didn't have any cider. Staff we're very friendly and pleasant. Food however was disappointing. Price to quality ratio isn't good and everything seemed quite overpriced for what it was. $1 each for a small pretzel bite??? $23 for a modest portion of pasta with cheese and a very small chicken slab? Presentation was sub par to us - you can see in other reviews photos and judge for yourself. None of the issues alone are terrible, but combined made for a memorable meal in the not so great way. Hopefully the food game can be improved. Happy we tried, but it's not for us.
I dined at The Orchard this past Saturday, and I’m honestly disappointed to say the experience fell flat, especially given how much effort my partner put into planning a special birthday night out. He called ahead, made reservations, and let the staff know it was for my birthday. We even arrived early and saw that the place wasn’t busy, so we were optimistic. We were greeted warmly by an older gentleman and two hosts, so far, so good! But things quickly started heading downhill. My partner had reviewed the menu ahead of time to make sure there’d be something for both of us to enjoy. Unfortunately, the item he was most excited about wasn’t on the menu, and what was available looked quite different from what your website suggested. We ordered drinks and asked for recommendations. I asked for something sweet and got one of the driest ciders I’ve ever had. My partner’s drink had so much garnish, it was like playing a game of “where's the drink?” Our first appetizer choice wasn’t available, so we opted for the pretzel and cheese. The pretzel was soft, which was promising, but the cheese was gritty, runny, and broken. Not exactly appetizing. We had no napkins, no silverware, no salt, and no pepper, nothing. We eventually found napkins ourselves, and when our food arrived, we had to ask for silverware. After that, we didn’t see our server again until the very end of the meal, when she casually admitted, “We’ve not checked in in a while.” Correct—you had not. We overheard the conversation about the past cook (entertaining, sure), but meanwhile, our drinks were long gone, and no one asked how the food was. The older gentleman did swing by to ask if we’d like ketchup, and we were grateful, because it turned out to be the only thing with flavor. My burger and my partner’s steak were both overcooked, and based on how service had gone, we didn’t see much point in sending them back. I did enjoy the fries, though even those were unevenly cooked. We paid the bill and left to find dessert elsewhere. I love supporting local spots and had hoped to discover a new favorite. But for an appetizer, two drinks, and two entrees, you’d do better spending $100 just about anywhere else. Perhaps with more time under their belt, things will get better?
Cold, unwelcoming atmosphere. Bare concrete floors a turnoff, lack of variety of drinks aside from cider. Will not return.
Came from out of town, decided to visit since it’s close the hotel and one of the hotel staff mentioned it. Please, don’t waste your money here. I ordered a side salad and the Marsala pizza. The salad was so dirty, clearly hadn’t been washed. Lifted one piece and you can see all the dirt. Disgustingg! The pizza was not cooked properly and was so so sloppy! Couldn’t get past a few bites. Very very disappointed
Very let down by this spot. The website promised something fresh and inviting, but the reality was the opposite. The cheese curds arrived tasting burnt, with oil that was clearly past its prime. Despite being one of only two groups in the restaurant, we waited ten minutes before our waitress even came over. When we finally ordered, we asked for two of the same entrée, yet only one was brought out because she assumed we wanted to share. In hindsight, we were glad we didn’t get the second, because the food was completely bland. The concept here has potential, but the execution from both the kitchen and staff fell far short.
