Really lovely authentic Italian restaurant in the Rittenhouse square area. This was one of the **best tiramisus** I have ever had! My husband truly enjoyed his chicken frances. I found the fettuccine to be delicious, but a bit too light on the sauce. Note that they are BYOB.

A great classic Italian restaurant in the city with excellent service. I especially enjoyed their mussels and affogato. They also take part in Restaurant Week, so it’s the perfect time to check them out if you haven’t.

Rigatoni al la vodka, shrimp lemon, bolognase were all delicious. Remember it's a BYOB! Service was great, nice atmosphere. Staff was attentive and food came quickly.

We went for a birthday dinner few years ago. I believe it was during restaurant week. So we had the 3 course meal. The mussels were really good. I liked the sampler and getting to try 3 different pastas. Now the veal i personally didn’t like but to be fair it was my first time ever having veal. I think the texture and taste just doesn’t do it for me. But the restaurant is a cute little corner spot, clean, definitely authentic Italian cuisine. I would definitely go again and try some other menu items.

We stopped here for dinner and it was very tasty. We had the buratta for an appetizer but it only came with two pieces of crostini. We ended up getting more of the table bread to use for it, but the table bread tasted a bit stale. The service was okay. I’ve never been to a restaurant, especially a “nice” restaurant, where you have to order your food all at once. That definitely made for a weird experience, made us feel rushed. Especially when going out to celebrate an occasion, it’s nice to order an appetizer then order dinner. We also didn’t realize it was BYOB. Not the end of the world, there’s a liquor store nearby. But we weren’t the only table of the night who didn’t realize that. Lots of folks leaving their tables to run out and grab wine.

We came for restaurant week so I can only give a review based on that experience. The eggplant was good but the entree and pasta sampler were just okay. Kind of lacking any flavor. The mussels were not good. Since we had a group of 6, they also brought out a sampler for dessert instead of letting us each choose what we wanted and didn't tell us before hand. I've just had better restaurant week experiences elsewhere.

Went for Christmas dinner with family. They sat us in corner with no room at all , our chairs were pressed against the people behind us. If one person got up the entire table had to move. Our light on the wall was out it was dark . Food was so bland gnocchi had no taste , others meals horrible no taste chicken Fontana scraps of chicken , veal was tough. , salad horrible , apps horrible burratta came with two crostini , calamari rubbery, coffee taste like mud. So disappointed.

The food was ok not great but not bad either. The waiter staff were terrible, indifferent and none attentive. Bread arrived after we finished our meal. I now know why I could get a reservation on a Friday just before Christmas. If you want an enjoyable dinning experience look somewhere else.

My son loves this place and we come her at least once a year for his birthday. The food is decent and the place is cozy. Today though the service was atrocious: pushy server who felt the need to ask the table 6 times if they want any extra appetizers, and once he finally got the no disappeared without checking on the table until he came to ask if we wanted coffee/desert. This included not serving the table any bread, asking whether folks wanted freshly ground black pepper or Parmesan on their pasta or checking on peoples water and drinks. I’ll come back next year if my kid insists, otherwise I’ll not be back here while this gentleman is on staff.

We hosted my sibling’s graduation dinner with a $45 prix fixe menu. I ordered the arugula salad and the chicken Marsala. The salad was underwhelming, and while the chicken was flavorful and well-prepared, the presentation of both dishes was very poor. The private room we were placed in was nicely decorated but felt a bit cramped—I wouldn’t recommend it for a large group.

Attended last night for NYE with a party of 19. Reservation for 8 pm with orders taken around 8:15-8:20. Multiple courses, $70 each. Clearly a reduced quality version of the menu. Appetizer was extremely small, Caesar salad looked and tasted like what I make at home. Our main course did not arrive until 10:40, at which point the table has been drinking at this BYO location for 2.5 hours. No bread for the table at an Italian restaurant. Asked for desserts to be wrapped to go at 10:15, they were not by 11:15 at which point we all left. Main entree was okay but nothing special. Shame on the management who I did not see actively assisting service in anyway and for clearly overbooking in the interest of their own $ with no regard for how this would go. Cannot even blame the servers in the slightest who were clearly overwhelmed and frustrated as was my entire table. Certain orders were forgotten or mistaken as well. Bathrooms were dirty and unkept. Friend had a worker force open the door on him while using the “employee” bathroom that was closer to the downstairs where we were seated but had no sign on it. One of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had especially considering the $1800 we spent to be there on a holiday night. Update: Additionally, we were charged for 20 entrees for our party of 19. Failed to produce an itemized receipt when asked so there is no way for me to contest it or report. Awful.

Me and my boyfriend went here yesterday for Valentine’s Day and let’s just say we are never returning. It was a busy night so I tried to be patient with the staff but patience isn’t even the word. We watch multiple people come in and get their food before us and right when I went up to tell them to just ring us up for the appetizer we ate which wasn’t even Good might I add, they gave me mussels and hard bread that I couldn’t even eat because it was stale, they begged us to stay (mind you we had been waiting for an hour) the entree was ok but it was not worth the wait we got there at 7:55 for an 8:00 reservation and we didn’t get our entree till 9:40 this is the worst service. My boyfriend also tried to flag down the waiter that was serving us and he looked right at him and kept walking he also didn’t introduced himself and tell us his name. At the end all they cared about was the money they didn’t take anything off for the bad service or wait time it was not worth it.

I had made reservations for Valentines day for 2026 here which is great for the location that La Fontana Della Citta is in. Right by Center city with plenty of bars and other restaurants you can go to after or before. What is really driving this poor review is the lack of transparency that was given ahead of the reservation and the guest experience that was exhibited. My girlfriend has dietary restrictions and we specifically picked La Fontana Della Citta for Valentines day because no where on the reservation or website did it mention there would be a prix fix menu. Upon arriving, it was told that it is prix fix menu... When I went to go ask the front desk if there would be anything that could be done, she asked a waiter if there could be a solution. The waiter's suggestion on what we could do is "Well, you both could leave". Which, is obvious and not what we wanted to do, however if thats how La Fontana Della Citta intends to treat situations like these, I definitely do not recommend anyone for any outing to come here, unless you are local, which we were not. Thankfully we were able to find somewhere else to spend Valentines Day dinner and save our evening. Also fair warning, their inside dining space is SMALL - Maybe 3 inches from the next table.. We reserved to be sat outside but for whatever reason, that was also not an option either..

Worst service ever! I feel sorry for the kitchen staff because the food was really good but I will not recommend this place. The wait staff was terrible, rude, and none attentive. Had three different waiters introduce themself as our waiter, only to be ignored. Tried asking questions about the menu, the answers were not satisfactory or showed ignorance. Our bread arrived after we were half finished with our meal. Had to flag them down to pay and even that process was painful. The server was so rude that I, who am never confrontational, had to raise my voice at him. Terrible service, look for a different place, the food doesn't justify the aggravation.

A disappointing experience, to say the least. My partner and I have been celebrating our wedding this weekend and were really excited for our reservation here. We checked in for our 8:30 reservation at 8:25. We were made to wait 50 minutes to be seated (at 9:15) for our reservation, and we never did receive a determinate estimate on about how much time we should have expected to wait, even when we asked for an estimate. About five other parties during this time, all of whom appeared to have checked in for their 8:30 reservation, were also seated after a 30-45 minute wait, all after standing together wondering if they’d even be seated tonight. We decided to leave our reservation, which was disappointing, as we had planned to celebrate our wedding over this meal and our whole evening had been taken up waiting. I watched 3 parties cancel their reservation while there. I can’t imagine being a worker at this restaurant and have several tables walk out on their reservations. Can you imagine how much extra income the servers and wait staff at this restaurant lose when their tables quit their reservations? We wish we had checked the recent reviews before coming here, because then we would have seen that this appears to be normal practice.

This was quite literally the worst dining experience I have ever had. My girlfriend and I showed up 5 minutes early for our 7:15 reservation and we were not seated until 7:50. Our waiter (if you can call him that) was basically non existent for the entire night. Our table had silverware/napkins and nothing else. We ordered our starter and entrees at the same time and we waited about an hour and a half for everything to come out. We also asked a different waiter for bread and never received any. Then, when our entrees came out, we asked our actual waiter for bread and even he didn’t bring us any. Once we were finished, we spent another 20-25 minutes trying to flag down any waiter so that we could pay and leave. I checked the reviews for this place after we were waiting for our entrees and oh man do I wish I would have checked them sooner. If you do come here, please take advantage of the BYOB and drink as much alcohol as you can so that you can forget about how terrible the service is.

Stay away during any remotely busy hour. Generally don’t like to complain but this was by far and away the worst experience I’ve had at any restaurant ever. Had a reservation for a group of 8 on a Friday. I understand Fridays and the weekends are generally a busy time for restaurants and have no issue waiting for food or a table, however I would still ask for the bare minimum of service to be met. We had to ask for just about everything. Our group sat down and no server came by to greet us or introduce themselves at any point. After about 15 minutes of sitting there we flagged someone down and asked if we can order food. We did not have silverware so politely asked for some - our server grabbed forks and knives and tossed them down on the table in front of each of us. We also didn’t have napkins, and again had to ask someone to give them to us. A server came back with three napkins for a table of eight. We then asked someone else if we can have more napkins and they came back with two napkins, so in total we had five napkins for eight people. There was one small bottle of water for eight which we also asked for more of. Other tables had olive oil for bread on the table and we didn’t have any. It’s BYO and we had to ask for wine glasses. It was getting to the point where we felt uncomfortable asking for basic things that one should receive while dining at any restaurant especially an establishment that considers themselves as “Italian fine dining”. The food came out and everyone was served what they ordered except for me. My food was forgotten and none of the servers realized or bothered to ask if we were waiting on anything. This was the last straw for me personally and at that point I didn’t even want the food - I flagged a server down and politely told her my food never came and that I do not want it and just want to make sure it was removed from the bill. She replied with an okay - no apology or anything. I would not be writing this review if it was just one or two things that went wrong - at the end of the day our table was forgotten about and none of the servers or managers took accountability for the terrible service we received. The group however did get a good laugh in when we were paying for the bill and overheard the server at the table next to us reading off what the specials for the night were…we had no idea specials were on the menu.

Food was decent, but it was the worst service our collective group has ever experienced. One bottle of water for our table of 8 and we didn’t get another until near the end of dinner. Had to ask multiple servers until someone finally took our order. No napkins or silverware until we asked. The waitress tossed a fork and a knife in front of each of us. 2 napkins for the table (for a party of 8!). We asked for more napkins and thankfully someone came back with 3 more. Whatever you do, don’t go when they’re busy because they can’t meet the literal bare minimum for service.
