Menu bilanciato tra piatti fissi e proposte del giorno, dove spiccano mozzarella di bufala e taglieri (quello spagnolo è straordinario). Ambiente retrò-shabby chic accogliente, servizio cordiale e attento. Cucina raffinata che rispetta la tradizione con tocchi innovativi. Ottimo rapporto qualità-prezzo e atmosfera vivace a ogni ora. Unico "difetto": il meritato successo richiede prenotazione per cena e pazienza per l'aperitivo. Consigliatissimo - è un posto dove si torna sempre!

We went there for Saturday night dinner. You can tell they put much more effort in each detail vs. other locations. We had: Selecione di Salumi Filetto di Manzo Pappardelle Sugo Coda Special Tortellini The hand-made pasta put many other places to shame. Each dish was a stand-out winner. Would recommend the appetizer selection of meats. The Filetto di Manzo was cooked perfectly. Service: Attentive and friendly! They explained in detail their selection of meats in the appetizer, and were attentive when we wanted to order a round of cocktails and wine. We highly recommend this place. Worth every penny!

We had a lovely lunch at this restaurant in the heart of Rome. We had to wait for a table, the place is packed every hour. We had pasta and a platter of prosciutto and mixed cheeses. At the end I had a cappuccino. Everything was delicious and servers were very kind.

A heartly and lively bar restaurant, with professional crew who very well know and obviously love what they’re doing! I first randomly dropped in having a bourbon sauer cocktail, they offered me a plate of delicious aperitivo made of different slices of cheese, fresh toast, and delicious ham. Prosciutto was so soft it would melt in your mouth. The day after, I went there again with my girlfriend for the last dinner in Rome, the Beef fillet was amazing, tender and delicious. the sides were its own delicacy, never thought I would love red cabbage so much (which I usually don’t) bought some 24 month aged Ham for the way back! Best restaurant experience I had in Rome, definitely suggest it!

We had been recommended to go here and it was the best restaurant we ate at during our stay in Rome. We hadn't booked so went early and they found us a table, good that we did as when we came out there were queues to get in and all tables inside and out were full. The food was excellent, the beef filet cooked perfectly, and the beef tatare delicious, followed by sublime cheesecake and cannolo, plus excellent wines. The service was by far the best we have had during our stay, with extremely pleasant and professional waiting staff, happy to advise on any of the dishes on the menu. Would definitely recommend eating here and booking a table before you go.

A Must-Visit in Rome! Il Sorpasso was one of the best meals we had during our time in Rome. The wine selection was excellent, the food was incredibly tasty, and every dish felt fresh and full of authentic Italian flavor. OMG!! Dined here on my first night in Rome and it literally set the bar. The best meal and service. The cheese and prosciutto platters were divine. Followed by the most incredible pastas and wine. The staff explained everything with detail. Nothing else compared.

If you have this romantic picture of Rome in your head where locals sit outside, enjoy great pasta, wine and have heartfelt conversations, then this is THE place for you. Hot Sommer evening, sweating from the Roman summer, nothing really matters here. You come here to enjoy all senses. The smell of freshly cut ham from the ham bar, the chatter, the fresh wine that tingles your tongue and a variety of foods that will let you crave for more is alle mixed up in this little botega. The owner was super nice and friendly, telling us stories while dishing us one great wine after another. We had a great time and felt so authentic like nowhere else in Rome. One of my favorite places in Rome for sure.

Dependably delicious food. I mean…really delicious. I’ve eaten here 2-3 times in the past 12 months and loved it every time. The pappardelle were fantastic, and they succeeded brilliantly in making simple roasted vegetables the kind of dish I’d order again and again. Bravo!

Location carina con personale gentile e professionale. Tutti i piatti presi erano di ottimo gusto. Eccellente la pasta alla "Put*******" con pomodorini, alici dal sapore avvolgente e con una pasta cotta alla perfezione. Buonissimi i friggitelli con aggiunta di pecorino romano. Pappardelle al ragù di cinghiale davvero eccezionali, il gusto ha rimandato immediatamente alle colline senesi. Piatto particolare oggi con carote, crema di topinambur e alici, davvero gustoso! Insomma la qualità dei prodotti è alta ed anche i cuochi mostrano grande bravura nelle cotture. Bravi!

Ambiente molto piacevole, dall’aperitivo al dopocena, movimentato e dall’ottima offerta tra piatti e vino. Abbiamo aspettato più di un’ora per il tavolo senza grandi indicazioni da parte del personale ed abbiamo trovato il conto più alto della media.

Pranzo in coppia. Se volete mangiare piatti tipici romani e vivere la vera romanità questo è il locale giusto. Servizio rapido, sincero, verace e divertente. Piatti ottimi e con porzioni abbondanti. Squisite le fettuccine con sugo di coda alla vaccinara e buonissima la parmigiana. Prezzo da osteria. Consigliatissimo!!

Highly recommending Il Sorpasso. The service was inviting and they found us seats without a reservation. The vibe is chill and it’s a place for foodies—. The selection and quality of meats, cheeses and wines is superb and local. The menu changes weekly; the bread is fresh and the flavors deep and fulfilling. You will not get a random, bland tourist menu, here. It’s hip, tasty and confident in its approach to food and service. Toilets were clean and spacious. The wild ham was truly a delicious experience- aged 30 months.

Locale molto bello e curato, con un'atmosfera piacevole. Abbiamo mangiato abbastanza bene ma niente di eclatante come descritto e ribadito più volte dal personale. Lo staff è risultato molto pressante e quasi inopportuno in alcuni momenti. Il posto ha del potenziale ma proporrei un servizio più discreto.

Una cosa ragazzi, siamo nel 2025, quasi 2026. Nel menù mi devi specificare se nei piatti che vado a ordinare trovo: CARNE PESCE LATTE UOVA. è il minimo sindacale della ristorazione contemporanea. E tu mi dirai "ma puoi sempre chiedere al personale". Bene, ok. Ma non posso ordinare una porzione di verdure,zucca, topinambur e compagnia danzante e trovarmi la besciamella, perché non era scritta negli ingredienti. Io non posso darla per scontata, deve essere tua cura dirmelo. Così come non posso ordinare il radicchio in 3 cotture e scoprire che una delle cotture prevede alici! Eh no. Me lo devi dire prima. Basta aggiungere delle piccole icone sotto ad ogni piatto, sarà poi eventualmente cura del cliente chiedere se del piatto che interessa è possibile o meno avere una versione senza questo o senza quello. Accetto la risposta negativa, nel caso. Però lo devo sapere prima. Non si discute su questo. Non siamo mica negli anni 80. Vi prego di tenerlo a mente. È molto importante. Non è un capriccio tipo, gne gne c'era il bicchiere sbagliato. È una questione molto rilevante.

Tourists: please read the 1★ reviews before you go Part 1 – For tourists I’m writing this in good faith to help other visitors decide. Short version: as a solo traveller, I cannot recommend this restaurant to tourists or first-time visitors. Date of visit: 9 December 2025, for dinner. Just the facts from my visit: - I was dining alone and was seated at the counter. This was perfectly fine for me. - The male waiter who took my food and wine order was professional and polite. He even offered a wine tasting before pouring. - After the meal I ordered a caffè macchiato. A female staff member put the cup on the counter without eye contact, without a smile and without a single word. - When I said “grazie”, there was no reply at all – not even a small nod, and her mouth was set in a straight line. - I also noticed the same staff member being much warmer and smiling with other customers. The difference in attitude was impossible to ignore. I am genuinely grateful to the chef and the kitchen staff for preparing my meal; the food itself is not the reason for this rating. This was my last dinner in Rome, and this behaviour was enough to turn what should have been a special moment into a very uncomfortable memory. If you are considering this place as a traveller, please read the other 1★ reviews as well – especially those written by tourists – and then decide for yourself. For anyone who values a minimum level of respect as part of a meal, I personally cannot recommend this restaurant. ---------------- Part 2 – Per il ristorante Scrivo queste righe in buona fede e solo sulla base della mia esperienza personale. Data della visita: 9 dicembre 2025, a cena. Come cliente, faccio fatica a considerare rispettoso e professionale un locale che mostra una tale mancanza di cortesia verso alcuni clienti. So che il ristorante esiste da oltre 40 anni e che probabilmente ha un buon rapporto con la clientela locale, ma nella mia esperienza non ho visto un livello di professionalità all’altezza di una storia così lunga. Ringrazio sinceramente lo chef e la cucina per il lavoro svolto: il mio giudizio negativo non riguarda il cibo in sé. Chi lavora a contatto con il pubblico non deve essere sempre felice, ma ha una responsabilità minima: ricordare che anche un gesto semplice – uno sguardo, un sorriso, un “prego” in risposta a un “grazie” – può migliorare la giornata di una persona che ha scelto di sedersi lì e pagare per un servizio. Allo stesso modo, un atteggiamento freddo e apparentemente ostile può rovinare non solo la serata di un cliente, ma anche l’immagine del locale nel lungo periodo. Se la filosofia del ristorante fosse davvero quella di rivolgersi solo ai clienti abituali e non ai turisti, sarebbe più onesto dichiararlo chiaramente, magari con un cartello all’ingresso o sul sito. Così nessuno perderebbe tempo e nessuno uscirebbe con la sensazione di non essere stato il benvenuto. Questa recensione riflette esclusivamente la mia esperienza personale e la mia opinione, esposta in buona fede.

Non ci ho mangiato perché sono stato totalmente ignorato. Mi sono fermato davanti al ristorante senza prenotazione. Ho iniziato ad attendere che qualcuno mi notasse e invece i camerieri passavano copiosi davanti a me senza nemmeno guardarmi. Dopo 10 min chiedo ad un cameriere se avessero una disponibilità, mi dice che dovevo parlare col Direttore, che sarebbe arrivato. Passano altri dieci minuti e chiedo ad un altro cameriere, che mi risponde la stessa cosa. Preciso che nessuno dei due camerieri si sia premurato di richiamare l’attenzione di sto Direttore. 5 minuti dopo me ne sono andato senza che nessuno, in più di 20 minuti di attesa, mi fosse nemmeno riuscito a dire se avevano disponibilità o no. Non pretendo di essere servito se arrivo senza prenotazione, ma credo che almeno un “mi displace, siamo pieni” non costi nulla.

Posso dare la mia esperienza. Vedendo così tante recensioni ho deciso di provarlo ed ho chiamato per prenotare una cena almeno con 4 giorni di anticipo. MI e' stato detto che accettano prenotazioni dalle 16 e non alle 11 del mattino. Richiamo quindi verso le 18.45 e mi viene detto che devo prenotare dalle 16 alle 18 mi pare. Richiamo alle 16.05 e trovo sempre occupato. richiamo alle 16.15 e squilla ma non risponde nessuno. Richiamo alle 16.30 e rispondono e mi viene detto che non c'è disponibilità ma di recarmi la sera e verificare se c'è posto all'aperto dove fanno aperitivi e dove mi pare di aver letto da molte recensioni non si trova mai posto. che dire!! pazienza non mi è mancata ! in fondo ci sono tanti altri posti altrettanto carini. Magari sono stato sfortunato o forse è un test per scremare il cliente piu' testardo e ostinato nel reiterare a tutti i costi il tentativo di prenotare.
