Excellent experience and quality dishes
Restaurant like the old days where tradition and quality of food are the masters and a family welcome
Trattorias like these are like oases in the desert. You'll feel right at home, with traditional cuisine, good manners, and politeness.
My brother and I Googled a place to have lunch today, since we were nearby... what can I say, an old-fashioned trattoria. The appetizer was delicious: dried pork cracklings, coppa, salami, and pancetta. The pasta and beans, bigoli with tuna, cotechino, mashed potatoes, and beans... I'd say it was an excellent lunch. The staff was quick and friendly. Thanks
The atmosphere is informal and makes you feel right at home. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My daughter and I stumbled upon this place by chance, but we'll definitely be back. The food is excellent, and everything is homemade. Highly recommended if you want to savor the flavors of Mantua's tradition.
In the countryside of the lower Mantua area, this restaurant doesn't offer typical local cuisine, but it's excellent. Iris in cucina is a guarantee. Highly recommended for traditional cuisine, business lunches, and even corporate dinners. If you're in the area, or even if you're coming from further afield, make a reservation at this trattoria.
A real find, without a doubt. I was treated very well and it was undoubtedly one of the best meals I've ever had, and the most sensational thing was that the dishes were simple, yet full of flavor and personality. Furthermore, they produce their own wine, and it's absolutely wonderful.
Beautiful location surrounded by greenery, among vineyards and fields in the Quattrocase district of Poggio Rusco. Family-run trattoria. Excellent hospitality, with anti-Covid measures in place. Wide selection of homemade dishes and ingredients. Rustic, clean, and quiet atmosphere. I had a wonderful meal: tuna bigoli, a trio of cooked vegetables, and a homemade ciambella. Very satisfied. Fair prices. Recommended.
On our way to Magnacavallo we stopped here for lunch! We had already heard of the restaurant, as we have an Italian family connection to the place! Coincidence or not, we were very well received by the owners! Then we were surprised by the cuisine they suggested! Everything is made right there in the local home! It's difficult to describe the taste of the pasta in words! I can say that nothing was left on the plate! Simple and delicious! I ordered lemon sorbet and I confess that it's unique! Only here!
A restaurant that has remained frozen in time. The food is very simple, with dishes prepared directly from a home kitchen. It's a pleasure to chat with the owners.
Clean place, good food, like the trattorias of the past
The atmosphere is more than familiar, very informal... The cured meat appetizers were decent, the pumpkin tortelli were very good even if a little overcooked, as was the bigolo al torchio with tuna and sardines. The cotechino was good, the boiled meat a little tasteless, the mashed potatoes very good, the sauerkraut a little less so. Excellent parmesan and mustard. Homemade wine from our region, a still red Lambrusco blend (2 bottles). Coffee. Considering we had everything from appetizers to main courses, cheeses, and mustards, I'd say €30 was a more than fair price.
A welcoming atmosphere where you can enjoy local specialties. The food and portions are decent. The price was a bit high for what you got.
Life brought us to Poggio Rusco for medical treatment, a town we would never have visited in our lives. Looking for a place to eat (there were three of us), a local in the health facility recommended the trattoria "Quattro Case" in the hamlet of the same name. A little place lost in the middle of nowhere. 😊 So we went to this trattoria, without any real purpose: the local dishes were good enough (I really appreciated their slightly sweet Lambrusco wine), but we left feeling a bit dissatisfied. The reason? I'd say the price we paid. We weren't brought menus, but the owner's son said, "I'm the living menu," which made us smile. We chose the following dishes: an appetizer of cured meats and cracklings, three first courses (the bigoli with tuna sauce had decidedly little sauce), a second course of pork with a side dish, two portions of sbrisolona (a kind of cake) with a generous helping of Pantelleria passito wine, three coffees, two half-liter bottles of water, and a half-liter of local wine. I haven't attempted to estimate a "fair" price for all this, but honestly, €70 seemed a bit too much. And what was most disappointing was that we weren't even able to check the bill in detail, and I'm not sure to what extent all this is fair. Too bad.
First course, second course, side dish, half dessert, half a glass of wine, two coffees, €57 for two, not a business lunch, and we're not talking haute cuisine, but pasta e fagioli (pasta and beans) and cotechino (cotechino) with mashed potatoes and a piece of sbrisolona (a kind of cake). The unlabeled wine, I'd say natural, was more than good. The service was decent, and so was the place, but the prices weren't up to par. Guests with the set menu paid much less, not even half of what I paid, but it's best to ask first.
+1/2 star, what I mean...hospitality and a warm welcome, like being a guest at my aunt's, make you feel at home, in a simple but authentic and very clean environment. It's important to ask for advice on the products they offer based on the season and/or their own production; for example, the cold cuts are "homemade" and the flavor is undeniable. I continued with a cotechino and mashed potatoes and a glass of their red wine, all delicious. I finished with traditional desserts, a sbrisolona and a belsuono, a simple ring cake to be dipped strictly by hand in the remaining red wine—a gesture from our rural ancestors—a coffee flavored with sambuca, and Sunday, yay!
I called five days in advance to report my intolerance as part of a group reservation. The lady replied, annoyed, that she didn't know what to say. I suggested a plate of tortelli without butter, just drained ones. When I arrived, I had to repeat this to the waiter, who, rather annoyed, told me he'd see what could be done. I repeated what I told the lady. They brought me eight normal-sized tortelli, a main course, a bit of meat, giardiniera, and dessert—there was nothing I could eat. All this for 44 euros, just like the others. Since I was with company, I didn't want to argue. But they'll definitely never see me again. The outside bathroom was post-war, old, and dirty.
