Loved our dinner! We started with French onion soup (see pic) and mushroom soup. Both were piping hot and excellent for a cold winter evening. We both had the burger without the bun. The meat was hand-ground for better "mouth feel" Also the happy hour red wine was a GSM and an excellent complement to the burger. Staff was excellent and Chef Danny came over to say hi. Overall, it was a great dinner. We'll be back.

The ambiance from when we first walked in the door of Clarity Restaurant in Vienna was the beginning of an outstanding dining experience. We were led to the Chef’s Table and were able to witness Executive Chef Danny Ahn’s amazing talents. Chef Danny’s service team were on point and the kitchen staff, Servers and bar staff worked seamlessly on a busy Friday evening. I would highly recommend the French Onion Soup, the succulent pork belly and you do not want to miss out on the foie gras with the pear and fig compote!! Thank you Chef Danny and all at Clarity for a perfect night!

This place is a phenomenal find for me in the local northern virginia area. Wonderful dining room atmosphere with extremely pleasant staff throughout the kitchen, management, social media and wait staff. The food is well priced and to die for. Clarity most certainly deserves its new spot in the top 50 best dining experiences in NOVA. Time will tell where they land in the rankings but I'm sure they are here to stay. Wide variety of dishes and beautifully well built flavors, executed to perfection. Check them out, their lunch set is worth every single cent.

Clarity knocked it out of the park again for our anniversary dinner! They are lucky to have Chef Matt who’s a culinary genius and brings a new level of energy to the dining experience at Clarity. I almost did not want to eat my dishes because they looked like they belonged in a frame, but they were delicious. The staff was friendly and everyone was accommodating to my vegan diet. Our server remembered us and made good conversation. Thank you for another memorable experience! Highly recommend.

My first experience at Clarity was last Sunday for dinner. It was absolutely fantastic! From the just-baked bread with whipped butter to the garden-fresh gazpacho, the best pork schnitzel I’ve had outside of Austria, and the over-the-top sticky toffee pudding cake, I couldn’t have enjoyed it more. The service and hospitality was warm and gracious, and the atmosphere was lovely. Highly recommend!

Had a pleasant experience celebrating Valentine’s Day at Clarity. Both the food and the service were amazing, we received a small jar of honey as parting gift. They have an open concept of a kitchen so the smokiness was a bit bothersome but didn’t affect our overall experience by a lot. Will definitely come back in the near future!

Update Fall 2025: we have visited here a few times since this first review many years ago. We had noticed the dishes were fairly rustic, and there was an over-reliance on fingerling potatoes in many dishes. We visited again for the first time in two years and the food has definitely become more refined over time. The service is not yet up to par with Michelin star but the food is approaching that level. This continues to be a wonderful secret tucked away in Vienna and we hope to continue to dine here in the future. --- Wonderful little gem in Vienna. Did the tasting menu and wine pairing. Not quite James Beard level but still pretty good. Ambiance where we sat was a little too bright for a Valentines compared to the main floor. Salmon tartare was not a complete dish, grilled octopus was perfectly done, Tilefish was good for being tilefish, and the Venison was a very successful plate. Wine pairings were modest and overall complimentary. The remainder of the menu looked interesting and I'm looking forward to coming back to explore more of what they have to offer.

Amazing Chef Tasting! We went to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were pleasantly surprised with how delicious the food was and the attentive service we received from our waiter Shawn was very impressive. The entire staff all went above and beyond to add that special touch in celebrating our special day. Top notch service and absolutely amazing food! We will definitely be adding Clarity to our top favorite restaurants list. Thank you so much for such an incredible anniversary dinner! ❤

Was finally able to try out Clarity and they did not disappoint. Service was super accommodating without even asking. Food came out timely and temperature was perfect. My sister and I split a steak and they were able to cook it at two different temperature. Our server T was really nice and was on point with everything. Definitely need to come back to try the tasting menu.

Family and I went here for Christmas Eve and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. Never heard of this restaurant prior until we saw it rated as a top 2021 restaurant in NOVA - which now after trying it is well deserved. Service was great, and the food was even better! We didn’t know this, but each daily menu is unique based on the local ingredients they source! Meaning each dish you love may not be there the next time you come… which is just another reason to come back and see what new item they have created! Overall, one of my favorite restaurants in the area - will definitely come back. If you haven’t been here before, I highly recommend you check Clarity out.

Had a wonderful time tonight at Clarity. We ordered the scallop and the pork belly starters, then had the Wagyu steaks for the main entree. Our server was very friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was great. Definitely recommend!

What a wonderful dining experience! Uniquely created menus where the contents change on a daily basis. Great tasting dishes. Modern ambiance. Attentive service. Customer attire ranged from shorts to jeans to coat/tie. The place was packed on a Thursday night which obviously means that this is a local favorite for fantastic dinner experience. Go and Enjoy!

The food was excellent. I did the tasting menu and my wife had the NY Strip. We also got several cocktails. We loved everything. Each dish from the tasting menu was so well crafted and had excellent, complex flavor profiles. Her steak was also perfectly prepared. My wife also has a couple food allergies that they were awesome at remembering and making recommendations to accommodate. Victor, the bartender, came to our table several times and made us feel at home. He also makes an amazing Old Fashioned. I can't recommend this place enough.

Late post—Clarity in Vienna was fantastic. The fresh shucked oysters, decadent bone marrow, unique soft-shell crab, and perfectly cooked duck stood out. The anniversary dessert was a great surprise, and I look forward to visiting the new Reston location!

Everything was so delicious, especially the bread. We loved the bread so much that our waiter sent us home with a bag full. Cocktails were so yummy. We had the chilled corn soup and lettuce beef wraps for appetizers; so unique. The Australian beef tenderloin was a little chewier and gamey than we expected but still enjoyable. I loved the soft shell crab dish. Dessert was a little weak; the blueberry cheesecake was SO good but the blackberry creme brûlée left more to be desired. Service was impeccable, top notch.

A wonderful first experience and we can’t wait to go back to try the tasting menu. The food is boldly and confidently seasoned without being “heavy.” Absolutely delicious and our server, Brian, took excellent care of us. Thanks for a great dinner!

Incredible, incredible, incredible!! We had a private suite that sat directly across from their kitchen so we could see all the action. The restaurant itself is beautiful! The staff performed beyond our expectations. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and so lovely. The manager checked in on us and gave his thanks and we even met the owner/chef! Phenomenal team they’ve got here. The food was simply delightful and cooked to perfection. I cannot say enough about this place. 100% will visit again!

Finally got a chance to try this restaurant for a late Valentines dinner on the 15th. My husband and I were very impressed with the ingredients, flavors and attentive staff. Will definitely be adding this restaurant to the rotation for special occasions.

It’s a real blessing that this kind of restaurants still exist. Real gastronomic kitchen and head chef visibly spearheading the whole operation from an open plan kitchen. I was amazed by the time and prep in consideration for the dishes. Every single ingredient was there for a reason and the presentation of the dishes was done with much care patience and love for the food. Make sure you have a reservation, especially on the weekends. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and experienced. If you are a good food lover, this is a hidden gem 💎 and place not to be missed for special occasions or just a regular everyday meal. True dining experience.

This was my first time visiting Clarity. It was my anniversary and I wanted to try somewhere different. From Start to Finish, this restaurant was 10/10. The staff are so friendly and nice. The atmosphere and ambiance is amazing. But the best of all is the food…. Absolutely mouth watering. Believe me when I tell you I did not leave a crumb behind on my plates. I will definitely be visiting again!

The food. The service. Exquisite. Highly recommend. And go with a friend. This is an experience worth sharing. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with super friendly people that allowed us to sit at the kitchen seating, which is on a first come first serve basis. We started with a custom-made drink by the friendliest of bartenders. I chose a Lemon Bread, which was made with Mularkey lemon whiskey, Templeton rye whiskey, orgeat, egg whites, spices and citrus. A dessert to start the meal. We selected the tasting menu which provided four courses and offered a wine or whiskey pairing for an additional $75. Before the meal started, we were served with bread and dipping oil, and gluten-free bread was available and delicious. We were then given a special treat by the Chef, a tuna tartare paired with a butternut squash soup - a delectable sample. From the moment it hit our pallets, the food tasted fresh and flavorful. The Chef personally greeted us and shared that the tasting menu changes each week. On this night, we were given beautiful dishes to look at, flavorful to taste, and plentiful. We did not leave hungry. The first course was a flesh seared Hawaiian Kampachi, served with a cucumber fennel salad, and pickled radish. This dish was light and flavorful, and a perfect way to start the evening. The second course was a crisp Mediterranean Branzino fillet with carrot, purée, black lentils, and dusted with potato chips. The fish was perfectly cooked and the blending of different flavors tasted amazing. The third course was two thick slices of Servena Venison served on a broccoli, purée, chanterelle mushroom, yellow, baby squash, and green lentil garnished plate. The addition of pistachios on this plate really brought everything together. I was so full but I didn’t want to leave any of the meal left. And finally, the final course of dessert was hearty crème brûlée with a Kahlúa ice cream, served with a GF chocolate cookie and toasted marshmallow. The staff was so attentive. And the bartender even came back over to hug us farewell. Other than waiting almost 30 minutes to get the check and pay, everything else was right on point. Heaven would be… being able to eat this meal everyday. I will absolutely be back for dinner soon. Thanks to the chef and staff for such a memorable experience.

Really good food, especially the tasting menu. The prices are high but worth it given the quality of the food and the size of the staff. We had the tasting menu which was very artfully presented with right-sized portions of delicious food. Especially lovely was the scallops with mushrooms in roasted pumpkin. The cocktail and wine selections are tremendous. Minor gripes: the sign is covered by the awning set up for the outdoor seating area so the first impression is that it is just another shop in a strip mall. It's gorgeous once you get inside and see the bar and kitchen. We had an early reservation and were the first patrons. For a portion of that time, one of the staff was either splayed out on the sofa in the waiting area or leaning on the hostess podium and it was not very professional. We will definitely be back for more.

Once in a lifetime experience and it was amazing. Food was incredibly diverse and the flavors were divine. The chef himself came by the private room to thank us for coming in. The service was amazing. The water was good too! The menus change every week. So worth it. Thank you for the experience!

My wife made reservations at Clarity for my birthday dinner and from the front door to our table I must say their service is amazing. The staff was so attentive and made sure at no point during the night did we ever have to ask or look for anything. I got the tasting menu with the bourbon pairing and it was probably the best meal I've had in years! The fruity notes of Old Elk bourbon with the scallops was a stand out and the peppery spice of the Rye whiskey was great with the lamb. I would absolutely recommend Clarity not only for the the unbelievable food but also for incredible staff!

If you haven't checked out Clarity recently, give it a fresh look. Victor still reigns supreme at the bar, and his autumn-inspired rye apple cocktail was delish. Only had time to sample the squash soup -- didn't even need the creme fraiche, it was so flavorful. The welcoming feel of the bar area, with legit craft cocktails can't be beat in this area. I look forward to returning when I can enjoy the new menu more fully.

We recently held our holiday party at Clarity and were thoroughly impressed. Like many, we faced some financial challenges this year and had a strictly limited budget for our event. We were worried this might compromise the quality of our celebration, but the team at Clarity was fantastic at working within our constraints without sacrificing quality. Gabrielle worked creatively to design an experience that felt premium while respecting our bottom line. The planning process was seamless, and the night of the event went perfectly. The food was delicious, and the service staff was attentive and efficient. If you are looking for a venue that cares about its customers and delivers top-tier quality, look no further than Clarity. Thank you to the whole team for ending our year on a high note!

Clarity is a great spot in Vienna for a special night out. The food is creative and always fresh—my favorites are the roasted scallops and the pork belly. The atmosphere is classy but relaxed, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Service can be a bit slow on busy nights, but overall it’s a solid place to enjoy a nice meal and some inventive dishes.

We had another great experience at Clarity. We were able to sit at the Chef's table so we could see the amazing team in action. Our server, Zarina, was very personable and attentive. The chef, Danny, expertly orchestrated the very busy Valentine's evening demand. The supporting cast (kitchen and hostesses) were all exemplary ... wonderful teamwork. The result was outstanding food and a delightful evening. Our thanks to the whole team.

I’ve visited Clarity twice recently and thoroughly enjoyed both experiences. The restaurant has a lively atmosphere, and the staff are warm, welcoming, and attentive. My most recent visit was on February 14, and I was impressed by the prix fixe three-course menu, which offered a wide variety of appetizer, entrée, and dessert options. The food arrived promptly and was excellent. The braised short rib and mushroom bisque were standout dishes—the short rib was juicy, tender, and perfectly seasoned. I also appreciated the open kitchen concept and enjoyed watching the chefs prepare the meals. Despite it being a very busy evening, our server checked in regularly and made sure we had everything we needed. I'll definitely be back again!

I’ve now been to Clarity in Vienna several times for corporate lunches, and every single visit has been exceptional. The food is consistently outstanding. I make it a point to start with their French onion soup each time, and it’s unlike any I’ve had before, a beautifully flavored, rich stock with incredible depth. It pairs perfectly with just about anything on the menu and honestly elevates the whole meal. Over my visits I’ve tried a variety of entrées, including the cheesesteak, wings, and several different salads. Not only has each dish been delicious, but the quality and presentation have been remarkably consistent every time. The service deserves just as much praise. The staff is professional, attentive, and always on top of every detail without being overbearing, exactly what you want, especially during a business lunch. Bravo to the entire team at Clarity. This is a place that clearly takes pride in both its food and hospitality, and it shows. I’ll absolutely be back again.

Clarity Restaurant is a gem in Vienna. The food was exceptional from start to finish. I had the lamb chops, which I don’t usually order, but our server confidently recommended it and reassured me that it would not be gamey…and she was absolutely correct. I’m so glad I listened. They were absolutely delicious and honestly unforgettable; I’m still thinking about them. My husband ordered the steak medium rare. It came out closer to medium, but he said he still enjoyed it. The wine recommendations were spot on and paired beautifully with our meals. The ambiance is casual and quaint, making it a great place for a relaxed but elevated food experience. Also, the service was just the right touch of attentive, knowledgeable, and we’ll definitely be back.

I recently went to Clarity for a business dinner after not visiting for many years. The restaurant wasn’t very crowded, but since it was a Monday night that might have been the reason. In the past it was always very busy, so the quieter atmosphere was noticeable. We ordered a variety of appetizers. They were all nicely presented, and the pork belly was definitely the highlight. The scallops were our least favorite. They did offer a tasting menu, but we didn’t try it this time. I’m not sure if the chef has changed over the years, but overall the food didn’t seem as good as it used to be. That said, the service was excellent—our servers were friendly, attentive, and made the experience enjoyable.

This was good. Yummy food at a more IYKYK location in the area with higher end evening dishes but not too serious or fancy that requires only special occasion. Definitely a different vibe with friendly modern staff taking care of a semi private room for a work party. Happy Hour was nice to be available with a good selection of dishes on the main menu. I would like to try a couples date night and check out their music to see how the evening flows in the main dining room.

Found Clarity from the best restaurants list. We didn’t do menu tasting. Decided to pick items from ala carte menu. Bread service served prior to first course. Then we were able to order Scottish Salmon Tartare eventho it wasn’t listed on the first course items (thank you Chef!). It was a fresh light starter to our meal the combination of beets, avocado, horseradish cream and (some mint emulsion maybe) and salmon. For main course I got 10oz NY strip and my friend got Foie Grass stuffed free bird chicken both delicious, a little thing that we wished they could do better was both of our entree weren’t hot (they both warm) and they didn’t cleared the rest of set of silverwares (we sat at the 4 seats table with 4 set up), it’s a minor service things but for a restaurant at their level this could’ve been improved. Overall experience was good. Our wait staff gave us suggestions and clearly know their menu. I would def be back and next time I would love to try the tasting menu.

What a wonderful and interesting dining experience. The venue is nice and clean and welcoming. They had tables in the parking lot which confused me as far as figuring out where to enter from. There wasn’t a clear path for a first timer. Also there was a chef who kept yelling throughout the night which was distracting. The food though.... it was delicious! Everything was seasoned well and cooked perfectly. I mean we ordered a bunch of things and none of disappointed nor fell flat. It is on the pricier side of things but well worth it. Portions are ok if you stick with an appetizer and dessert. The squash soup was the perfect appetizer and the bread was almost energetic because of how tasty it was. I really recommend this place!

This restaurant has very good food, and the service is prompt and friendly. They make good recommendations on the menu. Inside is decorated nicely, not overcrowded, and quiet enough for good conversation. If I have only one constructive word on it though it would be to check the menu prices before you go. This is a "high end" restaurant with prices comparable to high end DC restaurants and for me this makes it a special occasion place. A decent date night dinner for two will cost $400 (3 courses + wine + tax & tip) on average. The fixed price menu is over $200 per person with paired wine. The image is shrimp and scallop risotto. 6 pieces for $41. The bar area was pretty crowded when I was there on a Friday.. Think of it like edible-art, and leave the kids at home..

Overall is a nice pricier restaurant with a casual atmosphere with jeans and a T-shirt. I was there on Thanksgiving Day, Maybe they have a different and more selection for their menu on a regular day. I got pasta with chicken for a starter, surprisingly rich in flavor and spice. Our entrees were good to great. We got steak, turkey, and red snapper. Desserts are yummy and melted in your mouth. I will go back once more on a regular day with different menu selections, and then maybe I can rate accurately. Overall first impression was good with potential.

I came here to celebrate my husband’s birthday after reading so many excellent reviews. We got dressed up and upon arrival, the hostess asked if we were celebrating anything to which I responded my husband’s birthday. We decided to sit near the kitchen to get in on the behind-the-scenes action. Our first impression was that the kitchen was very clean and the chefs knew what they were doing. We were greeted by our server who wished my husband a good birthday and everything things started off well. However as the night progressed, we became less impressed with service. There were not many patrons for a Sunday evening and many times I saw our server chatting with his colleagues or simply disappearing. It took a very long time get our orders and we had to ask for our water to be refilled. As we got our entree, we also had to ask for steak knives. The food was great, but I would not get the foie gras again (very tiny portion and very overpriced, $32). Because we were quite hungry, we ordered 3 appetizers, a drink, two entrees and split a dessert. The total was approximately $250 and tip included was beyond $300. The food has flavor, and the presentation is terrific but if you have a larger appetite I would choose another location as it can get very pricey very quickly- for example their crafted cocktails start at $20. I highly recommend the oysters, we enjoyed that most during our dinner. I got the 48 hour sous vide prime rib and my husband got the Australian wagyu skirt steak with foie gras emulsion. We thought both entrees were good, but not worth the high prices. We were looking for great service, and exceptional food, with a romantic ambience and this was not it for us. The ambiance may have been more romantic in the dining room instead of the kitchen seating, so perhaps you can avoid that. Near the end of dinner, I was hoping that they would light a candle on a dessert for my husbands’s birthday, but that was not offered. We ended up getting the crème brûlée, which was delicious, but we both agreed that the food did not match environment. Unfortunately Clarity fell short of our expectations and comes with too high of a price tag for us to return.

This was our first visit at Clarity. We made a reservation for a Christmas Eve dinner. On the website, Instagram, and Facebook, it was made clear that the Christmas Eve seating would “offer our full regular menu along with our highly sought-after tasting menu - a four-course experience plus an amuse bouche, with the option to elevate your evening through our curated wine pairing or whisky pairing. A beautiful way to settle into the magic of Christmas Eve.” When we were seated, I asked about the tasting menu and was told it was not available. We proceeded to order off the regular menu, even though this was a disappointment. The fois gras was not seared; was served greasy and cold. There was no venison, which was offered on the tasting menu and the ONLY REASON I booked this reservation. Otherwise, dinner was a solid 5 out of 10. The service and food were adequate but not deserving of the price point, especially for a holiday. We will not be dining at Clarity again.

This was one of the most disappointing dining experiences we’ve had. After being seated, we waited over 30 minutes without being acknowledged and eventually had to ask for a waiter. Only then did the manager step in to serve us. We ordered both the tasting menu and items from the regular menu, and unfortunately the food from the tasting menu was particularly poor and not worth the price. To make matters worse, the tasting menu was never completed — the final round of drinks and dessert were never served. Service throughout the evening was extremely slow and inattentive. Our visit lasted over two hours, during which we repeatedly had to ask for water refills and drinks. Nothing flowed naturally, and we felt forgotten for most of the night. We shared our concerns with the manager, but the response did not improve the experience. Overall, this restaurant did not come close to meeting expectations for quality, service, or professionalism.

I always want to support a local restaurant and was excited to give this place a try, however this was one of the worst experiences. Yes it was a Friday before Valentine’s Day, Yes it was a party of 5. But we were on time for our reservation, got seated immediately and it took almost an hour just to get our drinks ordered. Then another 30-40min to get our actual food order in. It should also be noted we were informed by our waiter that the 4 course Valentine’s Day meal ($105 each) was all they were serving and there would be no exceptions. Which is interesting considering the website contradicts that and it was NEVER mentioned when the reservation was made over the phone. By the time this was finally shared with us it was too late to run away…We had to constantly flag down any random waiter to just get water throughout the night. And for some reason could never bring enough water to fill the entire tables glasses. The staff made it a point to never make eye contact with our party when we were clearly having issues with our service. I lost track how long the food took but the food was nothing exciting, definitely not worth the markup prefix price. Everything was under seasoned and underwhelming. We got seated at 7:30p and didnt get the check until 10:30p( they close at 10p). Id like to say its because the party was having such a great time but we felt like prisoners just wanting to break out. The deserts were underwhelming as well. We had to tell our waiter about 3 times how to organize the check… again this was a prefix set priced meal… only 4 specialty OVERPRICED cocktails were ordered… and that was too much for the waiter to remember. I think what bothered us the most was clearly our waiter was overwhelmed and UNDER SUPPORTED. Not once did any of his fellow waitstaff make an effort to help recover our table. Not once did any manager come to our table to even offer an apology or make an attempt to lend a hand and recover our table. Did we ask for a manger, no but the customer should not have to when things clearly are going so so wrong. We were also not the only table struggling. We paid our bill and We left our tips and walked out and were thankful to be free at last… joked about how we should have just gone across the street to Anitas because they would NEVER… I’m sure people are going to say oh they were busy give them a break…. A full restaurant that is not turning over tables (because everyone else was also stuck there having the same experience) using a prefix menu should not have a hard time providing their customers a great experience. Thats the whole point with having a prefix menu btw so it makes a busy night easy on all the staff and kitchen. Management and the owners need to make immediate change…support your staff and look at the community you are serving and make your menu reflect them. There are better restaurants in the area who know their community and provide a better dinning experience…again we all wished we had just gone to Anitas. At least the company was great.

My first visit to Clarity was a few years ago and because that experience was satisfying, I was excited for my husband’s first time here. But it was a total flop. I'm curious how ownership will handle this as I've noticed they respond to these reviews but doesn't seem as though there's any productive action taken to comp disappointed customers or make changes to operations. We came on 2/13 and our intention wasn’t to celebrate Valentine’s Day but rather have a much needed date night - as others have mentioned, Clarity’s marketing didn’t reflect a pre-fix Valentine’s Day menu for the 13th; we personally didn't mind this but definitely something to be marked. Our night started off okay; we could tell our waiter was a bit disheveled (he had also mentioned something about just coming from school) but he proceeded to take our drink and food orders. He was diligent about getting our questions answered about mocktails and substitutions.. and that was pretty much the last time we saw him. Our drinks didn't come until after our appetizers (which took about 20-30 minutes). We had to ask for bread. The amuse-bouche came after we finished the appetizers. Then we waited another half hour for entrees - my husband was content with his short ribs; I was pretty underwhelmed by the rissotto.. it tasted.. coconuty? As we waited another half hour for dessert, we observed other parties around us who were clearly frustrated. The couple to our left waited 30 mins for a server to greet them, and that was after they flagged someone down twice. The party behind us had their drinks brought to them and then had to flag a random server down because nobody had taken their order after 30 mins. Another table ended up going straight to the bar themselves to get drinks. The couple to our right posted up at the bar because their table wasn't ready when they checked in, and then had to check in again with the hosts who didn't realize they had already checked in. Many parties had to inquiry about the amouse-bouche. When dessert came, my order was correct but my husband's was not. My pistachio lemon tart was supposed to come with sorbet but instead was served with vanilla ice cream - apparently the kitchen ran out of sorbet but I only knew this because I overhead from another table. So we waited for my husband's dessert, again. In between all of this, we were never asked if we wanted more drinks, our utensils were never swapped out, we had empty dishes waiting to be cleared from our table. One of the hostess handled our check which was also incorrect at first; it totaled $30, which we honestly should've just accepted given the experience we had. At this point, we were beyond disappointed and used this night as entertainment to see all the things that could go wrong here. Everybody knows days like Valentine's Day (in this case, the day before) are busier than usual.. so why not be prepared for that. We later found out it had been our waiter's first day - the poor kid was overwhelmed and set up for failure by management. Clarity is supposed to be a well-established, highly-regarded local restaurant; this recent experience definitely didn't feel like it.

I just went to Clarity for the first time with 4 friends for a joint birthday. We had a 7:45pm reservation and the table was ready when we got there just after 7:30 which was good to see. We ordered drinks which were very good (although the manhattan was $35) but that’s to be expected these days so I wasn’t too shocked and they also specialize in create your own manhattans (which I did not do). At 8:30pm, 45 minutes in, we had to flag down a random server because our waiter had not looked in our direction since the drinks. 5 or 10 minutes later he came over and apologized that he was swamped and it was his first day. I’ll leave his name out in case that was true but it could have definitely been more crowded. This was Friday the 13th, the day before Valentine’s Day, and we were given a 3 course menu that was $105 each. We asked if we could order from the original menu since the website specifically said they would both be available but we were told we could only do the 3 courses for $105 no exceptions. Appetizers were small but decent. After that we had to ask if we were going to get the amuse bouche, it was a solo option on top of the 3 courses that we assumed everyone would get but I guess we had to ask for it, and yes it was a good, single oyster. For the entree my fiance got lobster risotto, she ate the lobster but the risotto had zero flavor. The desserts came out at 10:15pm (they close at 10) and we had to ask for the checks while the waiter poured more water. We were never asked if we wanted more drinks and I think he limited any conversation because he knew we were not having a good time. We had to have him write down our orders for the checks as well so he could get them right. Basically we spent 3 hours and $160 each on mediocre food and were forced into a valentines menu on a day that was not Valentine’s Day, even though the website said that would not be the case and nobody on the phone during booking mentioned it.

Very disappointing experience. I was excited to take my wife somewhere special for Valentine’s Day, especially at $105 per person and with the reputation this place has. Service was slow and disorganized. We didn’t even have utensils for a while after our entrées arrived. The atmosphere felt dated for the price point, and several dishes were bad enough that we stopped eating them after a few bites. This was supposed to be a special night for us, and it just wasn’t. With so many better options nearby — better food, better service, better atmosphere — we wouldn’t come back.

My husband and I chose this place to celebrate Valentine’s Day together. We heard good things and we’re excited to try. Unfortunately, this place didn’t live up to our expectations. The food was underwhelming for how expensive everything was. Not terrible, but definitely not worth what we paid. Service was also disappointing. We waited an hour in between our entrée and dessert without being spoken to once. When we did see our waiter, no acknowledgment or apology was given. I’m sure it was an off night but we probably won’t be back.
