This has to be a new favorite Mexican restaurant right now. The food and great and the amount of food you get for the price is so worth it. I always leave with a to-go box. I always change up my order and I'm never disappointed. Loved that it was someone's birthday and the owner came out with her Mic and sang Happy Birthday. Good family restaurant.
I adore this place. The people are like friends. Several of my friends coming Wednesday nights and we always get terrific service. The food has always been excellent. It has a special place in my heart. I came here with my mom when I first moved to Waco. There was a fajita bar for lunch. We both worked evenings. She came into town early. I loved across the street. It's one place that is almost like I remember it at a time in my life when my "homes" are disappearing. When I eat alone, they never make me feel like that's weird or something. So special to me!
Thank y'all so much!!!! Service is incredible, food is incredible! Y’all are truly a central Texas gem! Mary Lou thank you for catering my event on such short notice! Can’t say enough great things. Highly recommend! ❤️❤️❤️
Excellent visit. Greeted promptly seated and tea in front of us by the time we picked up the menu's. Staff was awesome and the food was served hot and well prepared. My wife and I could not think of something they missed. All around good eating as we both ordered off the lunch menu making our own combinations. The owner was fun regaling us with the history of the restaurant. Quite a fun experience.
Fantastic meal at a reasonable price. I had a combination plate. It had cheese enchiladas, ground beef taco and guacamole tostada. Every bite was very good. Then we had soppapillas for dessert. Everything was freshly made and brought out quickly and hot. Our waitress was fantastic as well. I can't thing of any negatives. The price was $10-$15 lower than our expectations for the two of us. I will definitely be a repeat customer.
The food was excellent. The portion size was good but not too large. The beer came in a frosted mug and was ice cold. The server was smiling, looked me in the eye, and was attentive but not irritating. Finally, the restaurant was calm and peaceful. Great ambiance!
I have loved every experience I have had at Casa de Castillo and with the Castillo family. They are absolute legends in the local Waco restaurant space, and use their platform to spread so much love and kindness! The overall dining experience has been great and this restaurant is a great place for special events. With 100 years of dining experience under their belts, the Castillo family really knows what they are doing!
Casa has been our favorite for many, many years! Last night we had a small graduation party on the patio and Christina was our server/waitress. There was over 30 of us and she never missed a beat. My husband drinks water like a camel and his glass never went empty. I’m so grateful to her that she took care of everything and I just got to enjoy it. Food is always hot fresh and delicious!! Thanks to Mary Lou for ease of scheduling and taking care of us as well!
We eat here for every special occasion. Food is great, service is exceptional. Choosing to eat here never gets old. Seeing this place over the years and enjoying the same quality, knowing the same smiling faces as well as the affordability , this family owned restaurant just makes coming back so worth it! There are lots of places to eat a meal here but we just love the consistency of this restaurant. Great food. Great prices. Great service.
The food is great as usual. I got cheese enchiladas, my favorite. I don't live in Waco, but since I was there, I visited Casa de Castillo, choosing it over any other restaurant before I left town. It seems the salsa isn't a fiery hot as before. Also, the food was not as hot as the plate it was served on. I should have sent it back to heat it up longer, but I couldn't resist eating instead. Yummy
Was in town from Houston for a volleyball tournament. The owner came out and told us the story and history of the place. Great food and even better service. I will be back.
This is one of our favorite restaurants to go to for Mexican food in the Waco area. They’ve been there for a while so they’re doing something right. Service is always great , the food is terrific and the staff is always friendly and happy to see you. The food is priced right, comes out hot tasty and the drinks from the bar are always made the right way.
The Food and Drinks are very good. Believe me you shouldn't be disappointed when eating at this restaurant. The food is ALWAYS on point to me. And the Margarita I ordered was soooo good. It was a frozen lemonade kind. Tell Them Theresa sent you...I'm not popular, but you can make me popular 😊
My wife and I come often and love the food here. Tonight we visited and we had Christina as our waitress. She was so friendly and thoughtful of our needs. I heard her speaking to another family and being very personable and down to earth. She is the best waitress we have had here and like I said, we visit here often. The food was great as usual too! We have never had anything here that wasn’t delicious!!
Awesome food and atmosphere. Tried and true menu
Went with a large group and service was amazing, the staff was outstanding and very attentive. I had steak and shrimp fajitas, perfectly prepared and delicious.
Had a private fajita buffet for about 50 people on their patio. Our personal servers were AWESOME! They catered to our every need in a friendly and professional manner. Management made sure we had ALL we needed prior to the event. The food was exquisite. Everything was cooked to perfection! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND CASA DE CASTILLO! 100% Satisfied!
Food was good, but the service was excellent! Audrey took great care of us and puts a lot of pride in her work, not to mention her million dollar smile. Highly recommend if you stop by, see if Audrey can be your server. Food came out lightning quick.
This amazing restaurant did our wedding reception in September. Everything was first rate, from the food to the service. If you have a small event and need to reserve a great place, I highly recommend Casa de Castillo. Thank you, Mary Lou Castillo and all your staff. DeeAnn (Tiner) Watkins
Great food friendly staff, very accommodating for our large group
Our time at Baylor is coming to an end but for any new families heading to Baylor or new to Waco, come see Mary Lou y’all! The food and hospitality are undeniably fantastic! They stay packed for a reason but always go out of their way to accommodate you!
Clean, cute, and delicious. The enchilada sauce was on point, and the margarita was great. I was not impressed with the salsa, so we asked for the spicy one. It was green and definitely worth the ask.
Loved every bit of the service. James went above and beyond to service, take care of us, and to make sure every Need was met. Truly truly truly if you go there, ask for JAMES.
My grand daughter wanted to come here for her after graduation dinner. It was late because her graduation wasnt until 7. My daughter made the reservation for 8:30. We arrived and our server was Amanda and she did a wonderful job with 18 of us. The food was great and it was wonderful that sat us on the patio. We will diffently return and i would highly recommend them. They were very kind to let us make such a late reservation. Thank You all so much..
What can I say? Another family run restaurant in Waco that caters to everyone like family... this family has fed myself and my friends, family, and loved ones for most of my life. An always happy return for updates on the family own establishment and Waco down home atmosphere... my Catholic school friends and the way we were all raised... like true family dining... awesomeness ❣️
Literally... this is the place to go! The staff here are so welcoming, and so warm. And the food 😱🤯🤤 Don’t even get me started! There are only like 3 things that you shouldn’t get, other than that, you are solid 🤘🏼 Also, shout out to Stephanie! Thanks for the amazing customer service 👍🏻
The staff is top notch and friendly food is very tasty reminds me of home cooking at mom’s place
Family owned business. Very friendly people. The atmosphere was great.
I will come back because the staff is so welcoming. We were particularly enchanted by the hostess, Stella. What a delightful and brilliant young woman. She did an expert job and helped us with all our needs. I’ve never been as impressed as I was with Stella..
Everything about this place is amazing. First time here and I definitely will be coming back. The owner greeted us and was so friendly and warming. The food was a 10/10. Tasted like a home cooked meal. Our server was so sweet as well. Thank you all 😊
The food was very delicious. The poor server was tasked with taking food orders that kept growing cuz registered folks brought friends and kids. She didn't expect a packed room. She was just expecting the amt of folks registered online. So you just roll with it, and be kind, and patiently wait for you food order, cuz IT WAS WORTH WAITING FOR.
This is our go-to Friday night restaurant. Family owned restaurant who make you feel at home. Fantastic tacos; love the taste of all of the food. Wonderful service. From being seated to seved chips/salsa, to taking our drink and food orders, to receiving our food, it all seems to run like a well-oiled machine. We love it.
I FOUND THE ONE! This place delivered top tier. Customer Service is wonderful. The enchiladas were the best I've had ever & a must have if you've never been. My wife enjoyed HER... Carne Guisada and "SO DID I"... LOL. They even have some of best drinks and jewels like their amazing pineapple salsa! We really enjoyed ourselves and will certainly be back.
Our server Delilah was so attentive and sweet. We had the Samuel and Pork Carnitas which were amazing.
This restaurant has the BEST carne guisada in Waco!!! Hands Down!!! EXCELLENT FOOD AND SERVICE.
Excellent and authentic food. Would highly recommend.
Bre provided excellent care during my time here. I followed her great recommendations with my pickyness to spicy and chose the chicken enchilada dinner, which was fantastic. I was so eager to dig in that I forgot to take a before picture, but it looked and tasted amazing. Highly recommended restaurant!
This is a hometown favorite! If you want a fancy chain restaurant, there are plenty of other places. This is a family-owned, low-key place where you can actually see and hear to have a conversation at your table. The food is delicious, especially the queso, and the service is always friendly and great!
I would’ve given the food. Five stars, except the tortillas are not homemade, but our entire meal was delicious. We had beef fajitas for two and it was so much food.
We had a large crowd and service was excellent. All orders came out correctly. Food was hot and fresh. Thank you, we will return!!
Great food. Lorena our waitress was amazing and her guacamole was to die for. Highly Recommend.
The food and service was absolutely great! Thankyou for a great time!
Good food! Great service! Atmosphere comfortable, able to have a conversation and enjoy the space!
This place has been owned by the same family for 103 years. It is currently being managed by the 3rd generation of the same family. The recipes have that old soul field
Highly recommend the take-home menu. We got the half-dozen crunchy beef tacos and it fed 2 of us for dinner for $15. Way more meat on these than the fast food places. Great value and the tacos were scrumptious. They kindly let me have 3 with no cheese and packaged them separately, which I appreciate.
The food, atmosphere, and service are always top notch here. I've been cominf here since I was born, and I'm 37 years old. I love coming here and I don't ever plan to stop. The staff is excellent, along with the service and food. If you go, ask for Ethan of you want the best service you've ever had.
Really enjoyed the beef fajitas, great food and great prices. Highly recommend
Had a Birthday party on the patio and they did a fajita bar for us. The food was great and so was the service! I did not have one but apparantly the margarita's were great!
Awesome restaurant! Amazing food, service, and atmosphere. Great prices for the portions you get. I got the Casa Castillo Dinner and had a ton of great food and leftovers to go. Our waiter was probably the best I've seen. She refilled our chips when they got low, got us replacement drinks when they were half empty, to-go drinks as well, constantly checking on us. Excellent experience!
Some of the best Tex Mex in Waco!! I'm a huge fan of the fish tacos. They can be a little too sauce sometimes but put it on the side and you can put just the right amount for your taste. Fantastic and attentive staff, always smiling from the time you arrive until the time you leave. Its a great family business that has been serving Waco as long as I can remember. A truly great dining experience for our hometown!
We came back to the restaurant and we delighted that our hostess, Stella, was there. She is so knowledgeable about the menu, friendly, and very accommodating. We liked the food, too. The coffee was tasty and I really like that they offer a full assortment of sweeteners like Splenda, Sweet-n-law, etc. Would recommend.
Casa de Castillo, a 100-year family owned and managed Tex-Mex authentic food, casual atmosphere, fair prices, and a favorite place when we visit Waco, Texas. Out of the Baylor "bubble" and always enjoyed by Baylor students. Our family has been coming to "CASA" since Freshman move-in until Senior Graduation.
My girl loves to get the number ten its a beef burrito with queso on top with rice and charro beans and I love the steak quesadilla meal with rice and refried beans and quacamole on the side. Great place great atmoshere everytime I show up the food is delicious and thats one thing that will never change.
First time. I’m from Huntsville, AL. My daughter did a Google search for Mexican restaurants as we are not from the area. She picked this one. So glad she did! Not only was the food outstanding, the service was too! The cheese enchiladas were the best I’ve ever had. We felt like family here. The staff were so friendly. The greeter even used our names as we were leaving. This is going to be my go-to Mexican restaurant whenever I visit Waco. Can’t wait to go back!!
Our dinner with family was amazing! Loved the atmosphere, the family operation, friendly staff, and excellent food! We ordered the queso to go with our chips and salsa which were immediately delivered to our table upon arrival. I ordered the sweet tea based on someone else’s review and it was perfect and fresh. I ordered the (#9) Combination dinner which was a Chili Relleno (Beef & Cheese filling), cheese enchilada (changed for chicken) and beef taco!! It came with refried beans and rice and was absolutely delicious! Generously sauced with melted cheese. My honey ordered the Carne Guisada and it was like Mexican pot roast to me! A little spicy if you like heat, and so yummy! The reviews on it were why we ordered it! Family had Combination Fajitas (Beef, Chicken & Shrimp), a Chicken Chimichanga and Pork Carnitos Taco Dinner. No complaints from anyone! We were so glad we stopped! Service was amazing as our drinks, chips and salsa stayed filled while we dined. The place was bustling with customers on Friday night! There was a little bit of a wait, but well worth it! They may take reservations, so call and ask! 😋😋😋 We will definitely be returning whenever we are in Waco, TX. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I enjoyed our lunch. Everything was good. We got seated quickly and our waitress was extra nice, Hailey. We ordered ceviche and some queso with taco meat for appetizers. For our meals we got fajita plate and a grande burrito. We also tried the mimosas and they were good, they had them with pineapple, orange juice, or cranberry. Highly recommend.
My husband and I went and had there tortilla soup and a frozen margarita. Both was perfect. The guy we had as our waiter took great care of us. The waiter we had was a tall guy with grey or white hair. He is the best. He deserves a raise. I will go back. Casa De Castillo gets more than 5 stars from me. Keep up the great work Casa De Castillo.
Food is excellent, the service was good, and very professional. Staff was prompt at serving.

Best mexican food in Waco. Not my favorite salsa. But the enchiladas are amazing. Service is as good as it gets. They really treat you like family.
Want classic Tex Mex in Waco? This is your place. Great happy hour and super friendly staff. The food hits the mark too!
Good Tex-Mex. Super friendly staff. Good prices and food too. Nice family restaurant.

Food was okay. Not great not bad but okay. Salsa was basically water and the meat was not marinated or seasoned well. Service was great. The waitress got a 400% tip as she was hustling. The table cleaner guy was also a hustler. Environment was clean. Patrons were mostly older folk 50-99.
Unpretentious, old-school restaurant with a retro look and menu. That may not sound good to you, but this is like the places that I used to go to back in the 80s and it suits me fine. The food is good, with decent-sized portions, and the only complaint is that it's a little salty for me. The staff is great and I do recommend trying them out...I'm going back.
It was a decent experience. The entrees are delicious but the chips and salsa was underwhelming. The salsa is warm and very thin, served with a spoon. The service was decent,
Ok, this is complicated. We’ve been here a few time after having passed it many times and wondering what the deal was. It’s always got a full parking lot. But you never hear anything about it. Well, here’s the tea… First, the location is off the beaten track. Unless you’re looking for it, you’ll never find it. B. The decor is right got out of 1970…. Along with the clientele…. Which runs to 65yo+ white people. III. The staff is super friendly and make you feel like famly. And finally, this is as good TexMex as you will find. You n particular the carne guisada is spot on. This place has become one of our regular spots.
The margaritas were delicious and priced right. The beef fajitas were ok but not great (they could have been hotter, better seasoned and seared). The chips were light and delicious, but the salsa was thin. The chili relleno was not crisp, but tasted good. The tortillas were store-bought. I wanted to love this place, because it is family-owned and has been here 100 yrs, but it is on the average edge of greatness. I would take my chances on a different restaurant next time. The service was appropriately attentive and very pleasant, but she's been taught to ask if "we're ready to order," or "do we want dessert today?" It makes me want to ask "how are we splitting the bill today?" We hate this trend!
I had the chicken fajitas, which were pretty good. The salsa was a bit bland. Needs more spice added to it in my opinion. Was a bit like eating tomato sauce.
I had the chimichanga with rice and beans. It was ok. The server was nice. The restaurant needs a face lift. They were painting murals and they were pretty. I don't think I will be going here again.
Waitress was great! Very attentive and kindhearted. The food was fresh and delicious, the sweet tea was soooo gooood and I’m a sweet tea lover. The atmosphere was amazing and the restaurant is super clean and the restrooms were too. Overall it was a great experience for my first time.
Would rate 4 out of 5. Definitely better Mexican/Tex Mex out there but Perhaps this may be the best Waco can do. Only give it 4 stars because the staff really came through on the service. The food was probably 3/5 at best. They were honest on what to order and what not to order - this was much appreciated. They run happy hour specials and we ended up at the right time to take advantage of the $2.5 small margaritas - they were good. Complimentary chips and salsa can be skipped unless you order the verde sauce or queso. The red ranchero lacks a bit of flavor and seasoning. Queso is good, we were skeptical at first but it was good. Had the Antonio plate and it came with a chalupa, hard taco, soft taco and enchiladas. I substituted chicken fajita in the hard shell taco and shredded chicken in the enchiladas and asked for the verde sauce vs the sour cream based it comes with (probably the best decision). The tostada and hard shell taco is served first then comes the soft taco and enchiladas. A lot of food for an average person - I skipped the beans and rice and still wasn’t able to finish the whole meal. We also got the chicken fajita enchiladas with verde sauce with beans and rice and this was good as well. Chicken isn’t dry but is juicy thus tasted great. Rice and beans were good too, no complaints.
Decent TexMex at a great price.....personally, I enjoy Salsa with some "kick" and flavor to it. Fix the Salsa and you'll get 5 Stars. Other than that, this is a place I intend to frequent more.
We had a large meet up here and the owner was greata to accommodate our large group in a side room. We even had a few extras join our group and the staff quickly accommodated the extra participant…
This Mexican restaurant is ok to me. Haven't been blown away the few times I've been here. Food wise it passes for alright. Don't like the salsa is very liquidity and no spice for me. I love a mild or spicy chunky salsa for my chips. It's one of these places that you would have to try once and may or may not enjoy. My in-laws love this place so anytime they invite we would go because like I said it's ok. Wouldn't be my first choice. But try it for yourself.
Not a fan of texmex but the food i tried had good flavor and was made well. I dropped points on the atmosphere because it had dive bar feel to it. They could really use some renewing in the dining area. The server was also confused by the plate names being said "in spanish" as they appear in the menu, we had to repeat our orders with American accent. I think that affected our service because she didn't come around much. Once to bring the food and again to bring the check. She was still nice, just unavailable.
Regular customers of this restaurant seem to be happy. They are greeted by name and are welcomed with enthusiasm. I've been here 3 times. The staff is always nice and made sure we were happy. The food was ok, but I like more flavor. There was no cilantro on anything. The salsa was not spicy and it was missing something, probably salt and jalapeños. The beans were not seasoned, and the rice was missed the mark. I judge Mexican restaurants on their beans, rice, and salsa. If you don't like spicy food or cilantro, this place will make you happy.
Got the beef fajita chimichanga and it was some of the least tasty Mexican food I’ve ever had, and I am not a picky food person. Service was okay. Atmosphere was fine. No music playing which gave it more of a relaxed diner feel. My wife liked her food so I suppose some of it is good. For a Monday evening there were lots of people there, so they’re obviously doing something right.
Main Negs: The food was bland, salsa is runny, chips taste like they are out of a dollar-store bag, service slow, never saw a manager on the floor or doing table visits to address issues. Main prob was my food came out 10 minutes before my wife’s and sons be cause of a “mix up with the tickets in the kitchen”. I did not finish my meal because cold coagulated Mexican food is not good on the best day…and only got an apology, no offer to keep my food warm while waiting. Main Pos: Seemed to be a lot of locals there that were well known by the staff. I didn’t have one, but most people there had margaritas and heard them raving about how good they were. So, if you’re not a fan of spice and flavor, but enjoy margaritas this place may be for you.
Service is always awesome but just never been a fan of their food. All of the older members of family love this place though.
We typically love this place and eat here about once every week or 10 days. We had a waitress tonight that was so unconcerned that my husband's order was wrong or that we ate our whole meal without anything to drink. Madison C brought our food and we never saw her again until we were ready for a check, even though she said she'd be right back with tea refills. When we expressed our disappointment, she said "OH, I'm sorry"and moved on to the next table. Most of their servers are so good, we were just shocked at her treatment of the situation. To make matters worse, she was training another server. Hope the new girl is aware that this is not the way to treat customers.
The ambiance and the service was awesome! The tortillas are not house made which was a big disappointment but overall the food wasn't too bad. The margarita was very good and not too sweet. I enjoy…

Ordered cheese enchiladas. Probably the worst we have had. Other food looked good as it went by, but we are always trying to find "our favorite " for enchiladas. We'll , we have to keep looking. Wait staff friendly. But someone needs to take can opener away from "cook".
The food is quite bland. The salsa tasted like spicy tomato water. The chips were quite nice, though. I ordered the beef and chicken fajitas, neither of which had much flavor. The grilled onions were pretty nice, but they could've used a few more minutes on the grill. The beans were, unfortunately, just plain pinto beans that didn't seem to have any seasoning at all. Paradoxically, the rice tasted like seasoned cardboard. And to top it all off, the sweet tea was quite weak. The food isn't bad. There's just nothing special about it other than its incredible lack of flavor. Our server was attentive and the hostess was friendly. No issues at all with the service staff. I don't know why they were playing classic country at a Tex-Mex restaurant. Not the biggest issue, though, to be sure.
This place is literally so catfish. For it being one of the best in Waco? I think not. It was like a hole in the wall.... but not a nice wall at all. They claim it's not mexican food, and it's Tex …
My daughter has a service dog that they did not allow her to enter the building with. They told her that only mobility animals are allowed in the establishment.

Hands down the worst margarita I have ever had & the food had NO flavor. I truly mean it when I say I you could get better for ANYWHERE else. The waitress was nice however. But this is in no way worth your time or money.
Visiting Texas and had high hopes for the restaurant in so many ways. Order the pork carnitas, taco dinner and was kinda bummed about the order only having 2 tacos (but we digress and ordered anyway). We allso ordered the beef taco plate with rice and beans and corn tortillas. Please be aware they also have a section dedicated to "American Favorites" with items to include spaghetti or a cheeseburger etc. When we left the restaurant, we weren't expecting anything that came in the box. My tacos came with American shredded cheese, chopped iceberg lettuce, tomatoes and ground beef (again) with CORN TORTILLAS. All of this could have been fine....if I was at Taco Bell. The meal wasn't advertised under the "American" section and was fully expecting a regular, carne asada taco. We even asked if they had Aguas Frescas and we didn't realize until the near end of our transaction the host didn't even speak Spanish & she had no clue what they were. Moral of the story, if you're American, this place is great for you. If you're Mexican or Hispanic in any way or have taste buds with a palate greater than salt and pepper, AVOID THIS PLACE.
