Definitely some great homemade true authentic Mexican food that set my taste buds to another dimension. 😋 Big kuddos to those hard working cooks who are behind the scenes and also to Diana the manager who did an absolute tremendous job putting our orders together. Great people/customer service was top notch. So next time I will be dining in to get a personal dine in experience. I also want to try other interesting plates off the menu. All of our 7 to go orders were properly put together and secured. Super satisfied with trying this place of buisness out for the 1st time. Definitely try this place out you won't regret it.
Great Mexican restaurant! I spent the day at the Magnolia Market and Dr. Pepper Museum but was so hungry by the end of the day. I stopped in Hecho en Waco and was pleasantly surprised. I had tacos, carnitas, and queso. All the food was very authentic and delicious. Staff is friendly, prices are fair and dress is casual.
Great fast service & perfect lunch portions. I had the tacos and my husband had the gringo steak burrito. Both of us kept looking at each other the whole like, "OMG YUM!" We got salsa, chips and the best refried bean/cream corn like dip that I couldnt leave alone. SO good!!! I would totally recommend this place!
We enjoyed a delicious lunch at Hecho this past weekend. They were able to accommodate our large group and served delicious Mexican food! I enjoyed the street tacos as well as guacamole. There was enough food for left overs the next day!
Hands down the best Mexican I've had in waco. We've went to Taqueria El Mexicano over in Bellmead for the longest time, but not anymore after our experience here. Our wait staff was fast and extremely friendly. Now, the food. My sister got the horchata and loved it. It's real horchata, not fake stuff. The salsa had whole pieces of cilantro in it, and it was nice and zesty. The bean dip that came with our chips had a bold flavor and I liked the corn in it. The chips were crisp. We ordered a pozole verde to share. It was too salty for my taste, and the broth was just kinda off for me. My mom loved it though. I guess it's an acquired taste thing. The guacamole was good. It was nice and chunky, although it did need a little bit more acid to bind the flavors together. My dad got the beef stew that came with tortillas, rice, toppings, and sauce. He wishes it was thicker but he loved the flavor. My sister got the mole enchiladas. She loved them. My mom's chimichanga was crispy and wonderful. My chipotle chicken breast was smoky at first, but then it punched me with some sneaky spice. Loved it.
The first time I tried this place, I really wasn’t crazy about it. They were super busy, and my “crunchy” tacos were soggy. However, I came back here on a food tour, and the tacos were easily the best I’ve ever had. Keep in mind, everything is spicy. I like spicy food, so it was great for me. If you don’t like spicy, this probably isn’t the place for you. The general manager is also super kind and fun to talk to. I’m so glad I gave this place a second chance.
Wanted to try this restaurant for some time and finally had an opportunity with a good friend a few weeks back. Turns out it is a spot she and her husband frequent often for their great happy hour - had no idea I was going with a “seasoned visitor”. We ordered a few apps from the happy hour menu and everything came out at lightening speed.. I’m wondering if because it’s a select menu during happy hour, the food comes out quicker than usual times (not sure) - our server was very attentive so I know she played a crucial role in our service as well. Food was tasty and my son loved the complimentary bean dip served with chips and salsa (warm). Loved this spot so much, I brought a different friend with me the next time! The only area for improvement would be table cleanliness - both visits the table I was sat at seemed like it hadn’t been wiped down. I’m a mom so I carry sani-wipes and just wiped them down.
The food here was delicious! The restaurant was busy but we didn't have to wait long to be seated or get our food and the server was good at checking in with us frequently. The horchata was perfect. We ordered the Carne Asada (very juicy) and Che's Tacos (pork carnitas tacos). Both came with rice and black beans which were good enough to eat as a meal on their own. The only thing we paused long enough to take a picture of was the fried ice cream (honestly not my favorite but the whipped cream was delicious).
Two words: bean dip. Their chips were surprisingly excellent. Waiter was very nice, even when our party decided to move from eating outside to eating inside; he was very polite and accommodated kindly. The food was superlative, well-priced, and fast to come out. This was a great meal overall and a great experience. I would very much recommend spending your lunch here.
Friendly staff and affordable prices. Food was pretty good and tasted like Tex-mex. Close to the Magnolia Silos, so a great alternative to the food trucks if you are anything like us and just didn’t want any of those options. We’ve been here 3 times and have enjoyed it each time. Be prepared for the side of salsa to be spicy though!
Today was my first time to Hecho En Waco and the next time I'm in town I will absolutely be coming back. I was immediately greeted, seated, and served as soon as I walked in. My waitress was very courteous and professional the entirety of my visit. For the main course I ordered the Steak Poblano. This was my favorite serving of poblano pepper I've ever had, and this was the best skirt steak that I've ever had. So much flavor I couldn't help but smiling as I savored every bite. For desert I ordered the Tres Leche and it was incredible. The chips and salsa were great, and was intrigued to see it served with a bean dip as well. I look forward to visiting Waco again as Hecho En Waco will be a staple for every visit, and I recommend the same for you and your family and friends.
Absolutely delicious! They start you off with fresh warm tortilla chips with salsa and bean dip. We got the queso with the homemade flour tortillas. The wife got the shredded chicken tacos and I got the cheesesteak burrito. Definitely going back the next time in Waco. Literally 2 blocks from the magnolia silos! Definitely recommend!
Great service and great tasting food. Found this little place during my last visit to Waco and I have to say that the flavor was spot on in all our dishes.
This fun little Mexican restaurant had an extensive menu and friendly staff. Their mole enchiladas were delicious along with their crispy chips. The restaurant has a great location, between a hotel, Texas-themed gift shop, and the dr pepper museum. The restaurant has its own small parking lot and more street parking available nearby.
My wife really liked the margaritas. The service was excellent. We had a large group and everything came out just as ordered. We had the mixed fajitas and added shrimp. Everything was cooked to perfection. Their charro beans are also amazing with just enough spice.
When in Waco, this is a very good choice! My second time, first for 3 others in the group and it did not disappoint- loved it! Margaritas, vibe, food & service - all lovely!!
The best authentic Mexican food I have eaten in a long time! Great food and great service! Parking was a bit of a challenge, but it was worth it for sure!
My family's new favorite go-to spot when we come to Waco (we've been 2 different times), once for Lunch with our 2 toddlers (ages 2 & 4) and once for Brunch by ourselves. They have indoor & outdoor patio seating by the way & super kid-friendly! The whole place has a very welcoming, family oriented atmosphere. The hostess, the waiters/waitresses, the Managers are all very kind, friendly/knowledgeable of menu, fun & on their A game! My fave part is when they bring out your Chios & hot sauce you also get their spin of warm refried beans to dip as well, so yummy & my kids loved it since they don't eat hot sauce. For an app, we shared the freshest most flavorful Ceviche we've ever had; so good & a must try. For our entrees, I had the pork carnitas tacos, with all the fixings, rice & black beans; very good ,& tasty. My husband had the steak with a beef enchilada, rice & black beans; very delicious as well. The 2nd time we went, we sat at their beautiful bar (which is a full bar, but has the best Tequilas around) for Brunch. The bartender, Carla, was amazing, she had a full crowd & kept up with us all very well. We started off with Mimosas, Bloody Mary's & the very best Mexican Paleta shots I've ever had. For our entrees, I got the Pozole Verde (it soothed my soul lol) & my husband got the Huevos Rancheros; both were very good, flavorful & hit the spot for sure. Overall 10/10 for us, very clean facilities as well & they truly are a close net family oriented place, where their employees love to work there & it shows! Will definitely go back each time Iwe visit Waco!! Great job you guys. 👏 👍
We had a delicious lunch at Hecho En Waco today! Even though it was the day after Thanksgiving and lunch time, we were still able to find parking near Magnolia Market and walk over to this restaurant within 5 minutes. The queso is DELICIOUS. Their homemade flour tortillas are fantastic. The lunch portions were generous and the service was great. I highly recommend this spot!
My friends and I visited this restaurant on a Saturday evening. This was our second time in. The Hostess attempted to sit us near a loud party, we asked for a different table and she obliged with no issue. Our waitress was lovely and kind and gave great service. I ordered the spinach enchiladas and requested shrimp. The ingredients were fresh. The queso was delicious and the pork skins were fresh and hot out of the fryer. I also ordered the Mojito with blueberries and it was great. We love this place, it is our go to.
We took a day trip to Waco and found this restaurant near the Silos downtown. We had street tacos with chicken and carne asada and they were amazing, one of the best I ever had. 10/10 would recommend
I surprised my mother in law today. We left Tyler and she had no clue where we were headed😊 The atmosphere alone was beautiful and the host and manager were the sweetest. Our waitress was the best waitress we've ever came across. The chicken pozole yuuuuum🤤The Whiskey Margarita....ooooouuuuu shit....can I say hella good and I needed something strong and it was strong like a musty person wearing a tank top on a hot summers day here in Texas 🤣🥴 I can't wait to comeback. I highly recommend you stop by for any and everything on the menu😊😁
Best Mexican food we've eaten since coming to Texas! Salsa was delicious, food was filling - we got a lot, and the guacamole was fresh!
Really nice staff, clean restaurant. The white queso was good. The highlight was the birra tacos!
A solid Mexican spot worth checking out if you're in town. Ordered three different plates and all came out fast and hot. The enchiladas in mole sauce were rich and well seasoned, topped nicely with crema, cotija, and pickled red onions. The green enchiladas with black beans and rice hit the same way bright salsa verde, generous portions. The combo plate with carne asada was straightforward and satisfying good char on the meat, came with a flautas and a side of green sauce. Portions are generous, rice and black beans are consistent across plates, and the food doesn't sit long before it reaches your table. Service was quick and attentive without being overbearing. Nothing overly fancy, just reliable Mexican food done right. Great for a casual dinner out. Would come back.
We were visiting Waco and really wanted to experience local Mexican Cuisine. Reina was our server and she was AWESOME! She recommended the Che Tacos and Puntas a la Mexicana. Large portions so lots of left overs for our next night. Both were delicious! The restaurant was very busy and Reina was hustling taking care of everyone with a smile and a friendly personality. She has worked there a long time. If I am ever back in Waco I would return and ask for Reina to be our server. They are lucky to have her as an employee.
Very nice casual atmosphere. Service was great and food was Delicious and thats coming from a cook. We had a soup as an appetizer, 2 meals and 1 child meal. 4 add ons 3 drinks desert & a cofee under $80. Definitely stopping by on our way back.
Food : 10/10 Today, Tomorrow, and forever Hecho en Waco is such a good place to eat. Service : 10/10 My server was so nice and the host was supper sweet Atmosphere : Very clean I went yesterday to go eat and I loved it. Me and my family will definitely be going back again!
The food was delicious and well priced. I got the Pozole verde. Our service was excellent; quick service, courteous waiter. Our waiter was Anthony. The atmosphere wasn’t too loud and the restaurant was clean.
Enjoyed the shrimp cooked in garlic and butter with white rice and zucchini. Waitress was wonderful when I asked her about gluten free and whether the dish or dessert had flour in it or not. Also tried the caramel flan, very good! Chips were good too - Not warm but still good. The jamaica juice drink was great also. Definitely a great experience! Update: new favorites is the scramble with bacon and tequila sunrise for brunch!
Started with a watermelon margarita awesome summer drink. The chips came out with a small dish of refried beans. The food was great and much better than I was expecting. Full of flavor. The waiter was awesome he even let us try the sauce for mole before we ordered. He was very personable and made a great experience.
Hecho in Waco has become my favorite Mexican restaurant. The food is delicious and always fresh. Great menu choices from appetizers, soups, tacos and entrees. It shows that someone really cares and thought about sharing the passion. Margarita selection is very creative and I love that they are as well the shots served with a huge juicy slice of an orange. Makes me feel like I am in Mexico. Perfect service. I hope I can be back as soon and try all my favorite dishes.

Sopa Azteca, Che’s tacos. Some of the best tex mex I’ve ever had. Cucumber margarita was refreshing and delicious. Hope they publish recipes!!
Love this place. Good food and service. Parking is ridiculously challenging because of the Silos. Recommend
My wife and I drove past Hecho En Waco on our way to the Magnolia Silos and were impressed by the look of the exterior. It looks modern, a little quirky, and upscale. So, when we were looking for a place to eat dinner later that day, we decided to give it a try. The interior doesn't really look as good as the exterior. It's not bad looking, but it isn't oozing with quirky fun. But that's a minor quibble. This being Covid times, we scanned a QR code with our phones to examine the menu. I decided on chicken/beef fajitas and my wife chose beef enchiladas. She really liked her flautas. They were filled with ground beef and topped with a brown "gravy" and cheese. She was quite satisfied. My fajitas were good, except when they arrived the chicken and beef were resting on a cast iron skillet of onions, but no peppers. That was odd. We checked the menu once again, and sure enough the fajitas were supposed to include peppers. So, we alerted our server. (The server doesn't actually bring the meal. Someone from the kitchen does.) The server thought it was odd, too, so he checked with the kitchen. He was told that the restaurant ran out of peppers. Our server was apologetic, but I decided to eat my pepperless fajitas anyway. About three minutes later, the server appeared again with a small bowl of grilled peppers. Apparently someone made a dash to the store to pick up some peppers, so they cooked one up for me quickly. I added the peppers to my plate and the addition certainly did help. Other than that odd occurance, my meal was quite good. The quality of my steak and chicken was good, and it was served with warm flour tortillas and beans, cheese, lettuce, and pico de gallo on the side. The prices were reasonable and I ate more food than I should have. I would certainly be willing to go back again. I would chalk up the pepperless experience to a once-in-a-lifetime quirk. Our service was good and the food was hot and tasty. Oh, and before the meal comes a basket of chips is delivered to the table with salsa and bean dip. I thought that was a nice touch including both the salsa and the dip. And the bean dip was quite good!
Pros: * Warm beans and salsa with chips.. *Eaten with our group: spinach enchiladas, chicken enchiladas, fajita salad, chimicanga and steak cheese burrito. All were great. *No complaints about food except "Watch for Bbones if you order chicken". The server was very nice about that and there is a warning on the menu. Cons: *service slow just a 2 star experience. * the price list for tequila did not match my bill. :( I am hoping this place will hire some more staff. Good food gave it is high rating.
One of the best places to grab a fresh margarita...they even carry a classic Paloma. Love the area and the staff is great! The food is pretty tasty, too, we always munch on queso and tacos with our drinks. Great place to meet up with friends, the wait isn't super long unless it's a touristy or Baylor game weekend.
This place was good to try something with a little different setting. The food was hit and miss for me. Chips and sauce also was served with refried beans. All good. My chicken enchiladas did not have much flavor but the verde sauce did. White was was lime flavor which i like. Black Beans, again, not much flavor. Tried my sisters charro beans which were better. Our drinks though, were very good. Had a mojito and a hand shaken pina colada, $7 each.
Really good margaritas but my wife ordered the Aguacate and while it did not list it on the menu it has avocado in it, so ask first. The ceviche was ok but not fond of it being cooked. The Camaronies Diablos were delicious but they are made with fresh jalapeños so they could be really hot like the first one I had, the second just good flavor. Overall I will be coming back!
We’re in Waco for our 44th anniversary and to check out Magnolia Farms (Chip & Joanna Gaines of Fixer Upper for those not in the know) and found out about Hecho’s from not only the Magnolia literature but also the desk attendant, who said it is his favorite place. So first night in town, we walked over from the Hilton (an easy walk) and found the place to be very welcoming and lively. We had Oscar as our server. After enjoying a couple of house favorite margaritas along with their chips and house made salsa (delicious red), we enjoyed Oscar’s recommendation, the Camerone Diablos Shrimp appetizer. Nice shrimp wrapped in thick cut bacon with a shaved jalapeño slice inside, fries to a crisp and made to dip in a crema sauce that was very flavorful. For the main course my wife had the DF Enchiladas, three shredded chicken encased inside very fine ground corn tortillas accompanied by white rice and black beans that were deliciously seasoned. I had Oscars recommendation of Enchiladas Al Carbo’n, but opted for the corn tortillas and one fajita chicken and the other steak, both smothered with their house queso. Hands down the best steak enchiladas ever. Crispy chunks of goodness. The fajita chicken was very good too, but the steak was exceptional. All in all some delicious Mexican cuisine and I only wish we were here longer to enjoy more of the menu. The bill was quite a bit over what I am used to spending at this type of establishment, but we usually don’t have appetizer and I did enjoy an $18.00 Perfect Margarita that lit me up slightly.
While staying in Waco, we were looking to have some Mexican food for dinner. Hecho en Waco had good online ratings. Additionally, it is only a block from the Silos and Magnolia Market where we were shopping and sightseeing. It was early evening and we were seated immediately. Our waiter was Amadeus and he was outstanding! As he told us, he treats his customers as he would like to be treated. We started out with guacamole and chips; the guac was very good. For our entrées, my wife ordered the steak fajitas and I had the carne asada. We very much enjoyed our meals and our service was exceptional. I’d recommend Hecho en Waco if you’re in Waco, especially the Silos area, and are looking for a good Mexican food.
Hecho en Waco is a very tasty spot to sit on the patio, people watch, and eat 1/2 price appetizers and margaritas for happy hour! I’ve been for many birthday dinners and happy hours. While I was there last, most dining tables were empty, and there was a table at the bar full of employees, but our server disappeared for a significant amount of time so my water and friends drinks sat empty for about 15 minutes. The queso flameado is DELICIOUS as well as the soup (tortilla, I think). I ordered a tres leches cake ($7). It was comically thin with the not-so-creamy whipped topping PILED on! I’ll put a picture here on this review Overall, this place is a good experience. Just don’t order the tres leches until an upgrade has been made 🤣
We decided to go to that place in the last minute and it was really good. The staff was amazing, everyone spoke Spanish so it was great for us too. The food was so fresh and the margaritas were amazing. Maybe the totopos that they offer you with sauce weren't good enough but a part from that I really encourage you go there.
Came here with a large group and had a great time. We were close to 20 folks and the food was well prepared and they managed to handle all our orders timely. I've had quite a bit of Mexican across texas so I will say there salsa was great and the fish tacos were above average. Portion sizes were good.
At fisrt I was afraid not knowing what to expect of the food and the reviews. But it was not as bad as expected just the customer service. Food was very good especially their's pinto beans. The aguas frescas are natural. The only bad thing is that the wait time for the food is ridicules. We came on a non busy day and hardly many customer and waited least for our food for about 40min and on top of that our waiter mess up our order 2xs. And she hadly would come to check on us. My husband was upset and had to speak with the manager. Nothing was done just an apology and we were still charged. We were just visiting so idk if I would come back because their service. But the food very good taste overall.
Went for brunch and ordered the omelette. It was good, but I had to add salt which I never do. The unbuttered toast (butter wasn’t offered at all) was an odd addition to the plate. My husband got the chilaquilas and I was so jealous!! It was delicious, so I’ll definitely get that if we come back. The restaurant is surprisingly undecorated for a Mexican restaurant with a few things here and there and some painted walls. Like others mentioned, service was very slow. Don’t recommend coming here unless you have some time to kill over a meal. It’s also fun taking pictures of the dinosaur and trying to make him look like he’s (she’s?) eating the Silos.
I have been here a few times. Service is good. Friendly and professional. Don't love the chips and queso, but their salsa is good. I had the Asada Street tacos. Came with cilantro, onion, salsa, and Charro beans. The meat was seasoned pretty good and the corn tortillas were good. Drinks are pretty good too.
Delicious food, excellent service, charming dining rooms. This cute little restaurant was just what we needed for lunch. It's bright and airy with comfortable seating and two separate outdoor seating areas. We felt very welcome and enjoyed the food. We were offered sturdy corn chips with salsa and bean dip ahead of our meal. We selected Che's Tacos and the D.F. chicken enchiladas for our meal. Both were delicious. The brightness of the pickled onions and fresh avocado on the carnitas corn tacos was a perfectly refreshing contrast. Definitely would eat here again when in Waco.
If you find yourself wandering through Waco craving Mexican food with a polished edge, Hecho en Waco looks the part: modern ambiance, stylish lighting, and a menu that hints at ambition. But a recent visit proved that while the presentation is strong, the flavor journey might leave you more inspired by the chips than the entrée. I ordered Emilio’s Salmon, a plate that sounds like a bold statement: adobo-glazed salmon topped with grilled shrimp, laid on a bed of rice with charred vegetables. It took about 25 minutes to arrive, which set expectations high — anticipation builds appetite. Unfortunately, the rice arrived cold, and the salmon was slightly overcooked. It started promising, with a bit of adobo heat on the crust, but quickly turned one-note as I worked through it. The grilled shrimp were small, and while nicely charred, they didn’t bring much to the plate beyond decoration. The vegetables were fine — just that. Not crisp, not juicy, just… okay. The real surprise? The chips, bean dip, and salsa. Not exaggerating — that trio stole the show. The chips were thicker than average but somehow still airy, with that aerated crunch that keeps you going back without regret. The bean dip was rich and satisfying, and the salsa carried a depth of spice and flavor that stood out in contrast to the more muted main course. I paired the meal with a jalapeño margarita, which was decent — citrus-forward with a mild kick — but not something I’d write home about. Still, it complemented the chips and salsa well, especially if you’re showing up during happy hour (3–6 PM, Mon–Fri) when appetizers and margaritas are half off. That’s a solid deal and, frankly, a smart way to enjoy this place. Service was polite but not especially present. With a delay like that on the entrée, a little table-side check-in would’ve gone a long way. The atmosphere during the week is relaxed. Moody walls, warm Edison bulbs, and a touch of Mexican decor give it a modern cantina feel without being loud or busy. Ideal for a mellow lunch or a casual margarita meet-up. Final Verdict: Hecho en Waco is worth visiting — but don’t come starving. The entrées are hit or miss, but the chips, salsa, and bean dip are strong enough to carry a happy hour. If you’re here to sip, snack, and settle into the vibe, you’ll leave satisfied. Just don’t expect culinary fireworks on every plate. Go for the chips. Stay for the salsa. And if it’s between 3–6 PM? That’s the sweet spot.
Services was normal but always a smile and welcome to hecho en Waco would of been nice too
food: good quesadilla, but honestly mid compared to other Tex Mex restaurants\nService: quick\nAmbiance: loud and talkative and friendly
Big portions, great service, and the place is very clean and welcoming. Rice was a bit hard, but overall okay. They also bring refried beans with your salsa and chips for the table.

This was a lovely dinner spot after a long day of moving in. The tortillas and chips are always good and never disappoint. Chicken and steak cooked very well.
The chicken enchilada was tough. Cheese enchilada was chewy, and chips were VERY salty. Margaritas expensive.

Salsa had a kick and was really tasty. La Flaca organic margarita was super refreshing. I felt like I could have 3 more… so good! Queso was good too. This place has such potential! The name is cute and we liked the vibe. However, the entrees were bland. No flavor. Fajitas weren’t charred with that freshly grilled flavor. Sign says it’s a Fine Mexican restaurant but the ingredients were bottom line and it showed. Disappointed. Will try another spot next time we are in town.
I've been here before and the food was fantastic. This time, it was lacking in flavor and I didn't finish my food. Not bad just blah.
Sadly, this place promises more than it delivers. The location and ambiance are spot on and hard to beat. Trendy and lively inside for sure, and the bar is fun. However, starting with the obligatory chips-n-salsa, which are usually indicative of the rest of the menu, I sensed we were in for a disappointment. The food looks way better than it tastes. We ordered tortilla soup, enchiladas, and fajitas. Bland, bland, bland. Yes, I know it's hard to believe given the name Hecho en Waco which means "Made in Waco." You would think they offer original dishes but it's the same Tex-Mex stuff you can find at a myriad of Tex-Mex chains. The difference being that even some of the run of the mill chain restaurants have better flavor in their food. Perhaps the restaurant caters to a crowd with a bland palate, in which case it is right on target. If however you are looking for flavor and spice, you are better off elsewhere.
Food was not as good as we have had in other similar Mexican restaurants. Nothing we would go back for. Prices were decent. Our hostess and server needed alot of improvement. Our food was mixed up with other tables which happens but it did for us as well.
This food is just ok. The service is okay, and the food is alright I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here. The chips are real good the salads is alright and the beans taste like they come from a can. I got the green enchiladas they were alright nothing really special about this place. The carnitas were good but nothing out of the ordinary.

I think the food and drink quality were on or with the price point. In town for a conference, I made it across the street to try this restaurant’s happy hour with about half an hour remaining. The …

The restaurant itself looks so beautiful. It's very modern with a Spanish flare. My waitress was very serious about my comfort and respectful. The low rating is due to this being a place that delivers the scene, but good food is its dream. I could've gone to Taco Cabana and had a better chicken fajita quesadilla. The one I received not only took awhile, but came out hard and slightly burnt. I had to chip off the outside layers of the tortilla for some softness and the chicken was so bland you'd think a Northerner made it! They should take Tex-Mex off their advertisements because even the crapiest hole-in-the-wall restaurant knows to season and or marinade their chicken. I paid way too much to receive the equivalent of a burnt kids meal for a child with allergies to flavor. Chips and salsa were bomb, though!
First time here and I went around 10pm on a Friday. There was a group of four women acting obnoxiously loud. Food was okay, but definitely not “authentic.” Taco shells were stale, but the meat and sweet tea were good. Rice had no flavor and the salsa was good. Reasonably priced and the service was decent. If I had a choice to return, I wouldn’t.
Friendly staff. However, we waited for our food only for the waitress to come out as confused as us after an hour about why we hadn’t been served yet. Were told the ticket never printed; therefore, our food was never made. Offered free dessert after us waiting an hour before they discovered the mistake & still would’ve had to wait longer for the food to then be made. Respectfully declined & went elsewhere.
service slow, store bought tortillas, drinks small but tasted good. If you're used to traditional Mexican food this is not it.

Should have listened to the reviews. This was the worst mexican food I’ve ever eaten. Everything was bland, no seasoning or just strange tasting. So disappointed. How could they mess up guacamole? …
All of these good reviews make me wonder if they really ate there. This is not Authentic mexican food. My husband got fajitas that were not cut right before they were cooked, they were tough. My da…
As someone from Mexico , I was super excited to see this "authentic Mexican " restaurant when searching for somewhere to go to dinner. The reviews and decor seemed authentic. But this is how it went : We walked in and no one was at the hostess area to greet us when we walked in. Servers kept walking back and forth and it was until after 8 minutes that someone sat us down. We placed our drink and appetizer orders and server took a while to come take our meal orders. The music was too loud and I had to shout my order to her from across the table instead of her coming closer to me. When the orders came out , the person assisting, threw our plates in front of each one of us . I don't know if the were too hot ,but it came across as shoved in our faces is a bad manner. All guests just looked at each other like " Wait ,did he just do that!?" . Two of the orders were wrong. Someone specifically asked for no onion and of course..it had onion. The server said " Oh ,it's already premade". She could've said that when our guest asked for no onions when placing her order. The food was okay, nothing spectacular for the hype. My Michelada with negra modelo did not taste like there was any beer in there. I should lnow, thats my go-to drink everywhere I go. Also, I went to the ladies room and there was no toilet paper, instead they had extra heavy duty paper napkins to wipe yourself with. Needless to say, When I walked in I totally wanted a t-shirt that they sell in the front but now I'm glad no one was there to greet us because I definitely did not want it anymore after my experience here. I left disgusted feeling that our Hispanic servers and waitstaff didn't treat our 1st-time-in-Waco Hispanic ladies the same way they assisted the non-colored guests.
The food here is unfortunately not authentic at all. The mole is flavorless, the rice is mushy, and the beans have zero seasoning or depth. It feels heavily catered toward a tourist palate rather than genuine Mexican cuisine. Even more concerning is the way staff are treated. There have been troubling reports of unsafe working conditions and a lack of proper care or support for employees. This has left a bad impression among many locals, and it’s hard to enjoy a place knowing the people who work there aren’t being treated right by the owner. I’d suggest supporting restaurants that value both authentic food and their workers.
If I could give less than zero stars I would . The food was average and expensive . Everything was up charge from pico de gallo to 3 flour tortillas . This is all fine What was disgusting and absolutely filthy was no toilet soap in men’s bathroom and the staff informed me the staff cleans their hands in the kitchen . That just sounds pretty disgusting consider in that same place they are cooking foods for customers . Sheesh. This puts all of hr customers health at risk. Toilet soap money saving . Really ??????
Worst attempt at Mexican food I’ve ever eaten. Service is slow Food was cold and bland, we got our food before we got a fork to eat it with Chipotle chicken 🤢 Chicken Taco salad is all lettuce and three pieces of diced chicken And I’m not going to say anything about the fajita beef other than leave it in the kitchen. Have to give one star to review but it’s really not deserving of that one Just my opinion
Had dinner on Oct 27 (Sun)…..the food, service and ambience wasTERRIBLE. Server was Alejandra (has no clue, slow). The food was served cold, most likely it was prepared and sat for a while before the server (Alejandra) decided to bring the food to the table. Waste of money, will never dine there again. Also the men’s restroom was a mess…..dirty, toilet paper and paper towels scattered all over. Gave 20% TIP, as it was the minimum option and she was standing with the device in front of my face. DISAPPOINTING.
Picked restaurant due to being in the area and overall decent reviews. I have never had the worse bland tasting Mexcian food, we were super disappointed. Beans and rice tasted like dirt. Eating McDonalds would of been better option. We sat down right away with friendly hostess. Waitress was very irritated when asked for refills once. Horchata was nasty. We could not eat even half the food it tasted that bad. STAY away!
Bought a chicken tortilla soup to go one piece of chicken and the potatoes are not even cooked. Never will do that again.
My husband and I were extremely disappointed with the service at this restaurant. We have dined here before and have never had a bad experience until today. Our server was inattentive and very dry. After taking our food order, she never returned to our table and didn’t even ask if we would like to order drinks. We waited patiently for her to come back, but she never did. Eventually, my husband had to go to the front desk himself just to ask for a drink menu and place our drink order with another employee. When our server finally brought the drinks to the table, she offered no apology and simply handed them to us—only to give us the wrong drinks without even asking which drink belonged to whom. Overall, the lack of attentiveness and basic customer service was very disappointing. This experience was far from what we’ve come to expect from this restaurant.
Good evening. Merry Christmas! Today is my wedding day and I had a reservation for Hecho in Waco that I have confirmation email for 630 this evening..When I called at 530 to ask if I could add two more friends. The said perfect, we have you down and will you then. We proceed to go to Hecho and once we walked in they said they were closed..I showed them the confirmation email and the call log of speaking to resturaunt an hour before. I am not upset they decided to close early on a holiday. Im a disappointed of how the MANAGER and staff handled it. I have been a regular for years but see no reason to return after this experience. So disappointmented and not the way I wanted to end my wedding night.
I don’t usually like writing bad reviews, but we were in a rush and stopped in here for lunch. The service was fine, but the food was terrible and bland. I love seafood, but the camerones tasted so fishy and inedible that I couldn’t even finish it. The rice and vegetables had no seasoning and even salt and pepper couldn’t fix it. I had a small bite of each of my plate and left it untouched after. We really should’ve complained but we were in a rush and didn’t think of it until afterwards. Even if they coped my meal I don’t think I’d give the food another try.
Very disappointed with service and food. After reading good reviews online, my family and I met in the middle here, traveling from Dallas and Killeen for an early Mothers day lunch. We had a long wait to get a table even though it was fairly empty. Our table of 5 adults 1 child was served 1 small bowl of chips and salsa, and had our orders taken. Never any mention of appetizers or the free sweet tea advertised outside on the menu or from the server. About 30 minutes later, flagged down the server for more chips and salsa. Was served 2 bowls with chips on top and crumbs underneath...seriously. Then another long wait, almost an hour total to get food. The rice was just boiled white rice with frozen peas and carrots in it. No seasoning AT ALL!! The refried beans have corn in it! I could go on and on. Terrible from beginning to end. Felt like I wasted my money. We were still hungry when we left!
