Walburg German Restaurant is highly praised for its authentic German food, friendly service (especially from Sam), and unique beer hall atmosphere. The buffet and German Chocolate Cake are particularly popular. Some found the live band a bit loud.

Fantastic food, just like in Germany. Very authentic to taste. Prices are good, atmosphere brings back memories. You will love the out side bear garden and live music.Great all around.
Great Sunday buffet lunch! We tried a little bit of everything. Each dish was uniquely & authentically seasoned - absolutely delicious! Pork lion in brown gravy was my fav! Great beer selection! Service was friendly and attentive. Loved the historical decor and atmosphere! Look forward to going back with more friends, trying the live music and/or songwriter's night!
Awesome selection of Texas German biers. Great food, the buffet was good but I bet the menu items are even better. The red cabbage and cranberry tart stuck out the most, but that's not saying the meats weren't wonderful. Definitely returning
Went to Wahlburgers to celebrate my husband. Kris's Birthday with our good friends the food was awesome I ordered a meatball sandwich and had no idea how big it was but it was so good I can only eat a little bit of it the potato chips are homemade and so good french fries were fantastic and the beer was great a blond Oktoberfest and I ordered another light beer for myself it was good to see a lot of people out and no white churches were hopping
Oh this place will make you home sick for Germany for sure. Lots of Patrons in German traditional Clothing. The buildings Ambience was that of a traditional Beer Hall. Tons of German Beer/Wine offerings. Great Staff having fun with Customers. Music on a Friday night. Food was Buffet style due to Staff shortages, BUT, it was excellent!
Enjoyed the beer garden ! Lots of picnic tables for seating. You stand in line for food but you get it when you order! Great live music with a dance floor. Great place to enjoy German food and beer!
No matter how busy or how long I may have to wait the service and food is hands down worth it all. We have been customers for over a decade and I always enjoy going back. We usually go on special occasions as a treat but, this is most certainly a great restaurant for any occasion. You may want to call ahead to see if you have to reserve a table.
Great place and good hometown feeling!!!! Dunkel is cold and food was awesome!! You have to go here for sure. I will definitely come back and bring friends.
Gem of a restaurant in the small town of Walburg! It serves very authentic German food which was amazing. Best soft pretzels I’ve ever had. They have an astounding collection of beer to choose from If that’s your thing. We tried 3 different desserts and they were all amazing. We went Friday night and there were lots of people but it’s actually a pretty big restaurant so it didn’t feel crowded. Our kids loved the live music. Great place to try at least once for the experience.
We have been wanting to get here for years now and finally made it happen. The experience did not disappoint, and we hope to return soon. The building is just great and staff we’re friendly. The buffet was very tasty and offered all of the favorites that typically cause a great deal of deliberation because good German fare is increasingly hard too find. I would definitely recommend making the trip and not waiting as long as I did!
Good German restaurant to go to in the local area sometimes have live music not sure what days they do I've been there when they're when they have live music we also have a good Buffet if you're looking to you try a different amount of food in one sitting her most of the beers that you need so if you want a good German place to go to I need Runner to the highly recommend this place sometimes you're a little short-staffed and that's the issue that I ran into today but I was patient and waited like to give them a higher score but because I had to wait longer than normal I have to give them and on the score they need to hire more people to be honest with you
What an amazing find in a small community near round rock. The food was amazing. The beer was good! The portions are huge so bring an appetite! The cucumber salad was a great starter. We took the back roads from Walburg back to Georgetown it was a beautiful community!
Great 🇩🇪 food restaurant just North of Georgetown TX Check out my video review on YouTube PurpleBackpack1 channel
Met up with my German-born brother in law at one of his favorite restaurants in Central Texas. It's been well over 20 years since I've been here, and it feels the same as it always did...lots of authentic German fare, genuine old world style furnishings and atmosphere and friendly staff willing to please. I'm not typically a buffet kinda guy, but this one allows you to sample all the goodness of authentic German cuisine on one (or 3) plates for one reasonable price. Schnitzel, sausages, schweinbraten, sauerbraten, rouladen, spatzle, red cabbage, Sauer kraft, etc. along with salads and some American dishes are all there. Take your time and try everything. After eating, you can go enjoy the bier garden out back where they have loads of beers on tap and polka music playing most of the time.
Awesome atmosphere, server was very attentive and super knowledgeable. I had the schweinebraten with spatzel, sauerkraut, and German potato salad. All were delicious and very filling where I needed to take a box home! The stiegel radten bier was very delicious with a very mild grapefruit flavor. And to finish off we had the dark forest cherry cake which was very rich but not overwhelming sweet/sugary. Will 100% be coming back for dinner another time!
We met some friends in the Beer Garden. Live music was playing the outdoor setup was wonderful. Great beer selection for german beers. Limited on wine, but we are at a beer garden. Staff was very friendly! Food was very tasty. We did not have the buffet (only available on weekends but our friends did and said it was wonderful. We had a foot long hot dog. This is not your average hot dog. Very thick hot dog and very tasty. We will definitely be back. Well worth the short drive.
Such a great time! Food was delicious and with buffet style you can choose all kinds of things! It was all good! Staff were lovely and friendly and just really made for a nice experience. Atmosphere was such a blast from my past and was very laid back and so inviting! It is a great experience! You'll be glad you went!
We love this restaurant. The staff and food are always superb. Our hour drive to enjoy this wonderful German food is worth the trip everytime.
I happened to be driving through the area around 4pm and decided to give Walburg a try. Boy was I glad I stopped in, great food, excellent service, and fun atmosphere. I lived in Europe for 4 years and this is the closest, in Texas, I'm had to authentic German cuisine. I will be coming back the next chance I get.
Very authentic German food. Friday and Saturday night there is a German oompah band playing. Also Friday and Saturday there is a buffet. The beer selection is all German, I remember drinking some of these when stationed at Ramstein. You will even see some peeps in lagerhosen! My wife had the pork cordon bleu and I had the jäger schnitzel, we both had the spaetzle noodles with the jäger gravy! Awesome! It was 2 hours from home but we will definitely be back!
We have been wanting to try this restaurant for a while and finally made the drive out there. Such a cute place and friendly staff. We did the buffet so we could try everything. We ate some food that we could not pronounce and all of it was delicious! Of course we stayed to hear the band and try the strudel.
ADA spacing, Covid spacing, and great staff. Now, let's talk beer...great selection of local distillery and german beers on tap. A good Octoberfest was had. If you like potato pancake...stop here it's one of the best, I have ever had. Curry sausage was insanely yummy. I however did not like the breading on the jaeger schnitzel. That felt more like dairy queen than german breading. They had one of the best Bavarian creme dessert (pic) included.
Absolutely the best German/ Bavarian food we've found so far!! 8 out of 5 stars. Dinner is the best time with the buffet.
Marking this one off of my Texas bucket list finally. I could just sit here all day and drink lagers, the magic of this place is it transports you away from the noise of day to day. Sam took great care of us and was friendly and attentive.
As a German I’ve searched for a good german restaurant in the Us for quiet some time. This is the best German Restaurant I’ve been to in the US. It is GREAT food and the ambience is fantastic and super bavarian. The Wiener Schnitzel was great, red cabbage, Apfelstrudel, Camembert great. Really get the Camembert and use the cranberry sauce for the Schnitzel. Thats the right way to do it.
We love this place and everyone associated with this great restaurant. The food is so good, and the best that I've ever had. Everyone is so friendly. And the deserts are out of this world. Our highest recommendation.
The entertainment really made the experience for Oktoberfest! They knew how to engage the crowd and make it really fun! The buffet was expensive, but I really liked that the food is covered with plastic covers when people aren't serving themselves. My favorite German food is schnitzel and red cabbage sauerkraut. Having a buffet was great because I could eat as much red cabbage as I wanted. I wish desserts were included and I wish food besides pretzels were served outside in the biergarten too because the entertainment was more lively outside. The servers of beer outside were very nice!
There were six of us that went to eat on a Wednesday. The dark amber beer was delicious. We had fried brie and a fantastic pretzel for appetizers. I had the Schnitzel Parmesan. It was more an Italian flavored meal, but the chicken Schnitzel was fabulous. Others ate meals with spoatzel and sauerkraut and there were a lot of empty plates. They have music on the weekends. It is a little out in the middle of nowhere, but it's definitely worth the drive.
Authentic German meals, menu, smorgasbord. Atmosphere and service unbeatable. 140 year old General store. The updates are reasonable and blend in. Good selection of beer and ale .
Our family has been coming to the Walburg Biergarten once a year since 2008. Always a fabulous experience. We look forward to seeing all of the smiling faces of the staff and friends. We like to dance and the children join as well.
Huge, storied restaurant serving German food, music, and decor. We loved the weekend buffet with a large stine of marzen. When we're not at full we look forward to trying the exciting desserts too. This place is one of central Texas' connections to the heritage of German settlers. They have a large free parking lot with an antique truck.
Had the pleasure of having lunch here. It was very authentic. I saw a lot of memorabilia from Ramstein, where I was stationed in the 80s. The food was excellent. We enjoyed jaegerschneizel with pomme frites and red cabbage and brotwurst. Took home an order of strudel.
This was a first time visit for my husband. It was this past Sunday (Feb 25, 2026) when they were having buffet style only, no ordering from a menu. We enjoyed the food choices & felt very comfortable with the set up. The food was nice & hot. I listed below what I ate. I stay away from red meat, so no sausage for me. I suggest that you serve your plate with just enough food to eat at one sitting & go back again for more food so that your food is hot. If you take too much at once, it gets cold before you can eat it all. The waite staff was outstanding, checking on drinks, taking away empty dishes, & seeing to our every need! Oh, the desserts need mentioning, too!! LOVED the apple strudel!!!! We will definitely be back! We already miss their German comfort food!! And we want to go back when the band is playing & the back patio is open! From what I've heard, the set up outside is a lot of fun!! 🍻
Made reservations for my wife and I for a special Valentine's Day dinner. It was amazing. They had live entertainment, great customer service, tasty foods, desserts and cold drinks. 5 star!
I loved the authentic German food. There was a band that played and I’ve got to say it was quite unique :) the atmosphere was so much fun it felt like a real family setting. My wife brought me here and it did not disappoint in the slightest. My son even enjoyed himself playing with some of the other children there.
The weekday waitress is always so nice. She is always friendly and makes great conversation with you and makes you feel like they are so glad you came. Beer is good and cold, love the medium Oktoberfest it's the best. Food is always good. The bratwurst is great 👍. Love the old general store atmosphere. Price is reasonable. Please go see for yourself. God bless.
About as fantastic as it gets. The buffet has a great variety and is all well-made. The staff are lovely, and the building/atmosphere is basically a marvelous unicorn. I went on a Friday early for the buffet, and it occurred to me, it's cool that they want to offer fish and shrimp on the buffet, but even though the shrimp were very well cooked and flavored, and clearly homemade, they just aren't the right kind of food to have sitting out for any length of time, they don't hold up. Cheapo buffets that have fried shrimp rely on preservative-intense and cornstarch-laden breading to stay sorta crunchy, and that fake stuff would be anathema to the beautiful home-cookin' Walburg offers. So, that's a long way of sayin', I'd give up on the shrimp for the buffet, as fantastically flavored as they were. Shrimp just can't sit.
Walburg German Restaurant and Biergarten is the kind of place you go when you want more than just a meal—you want a true celebration. From the moment you step in, the atmosphere is electric and genuinely fun, making it an instant escape from the everyday. The culinary star of the show is, without a doubt, the Wiener Schnitzel. It is incredibly tasty—pounded thin, perfectly breaded, and cooked to a beautiful golden crisp. It’s authentic German comfort food done exceptionally well. To complement the hearty fare, the restaurant offers an array of truly excellent beers. Their selection is top-notch, offering something for every palate, from traditional lagers to rich dark brews. But the experience truly elevates itself once the sun sets. The Biergarten transforms into a colorful and inviting oasis. String lights cast a warm glow across the seating area, creating a magical and social setting. This lively outdoor space, combined with the energy of live music, turns a simple dinner into a memorable, festive event. Walburg delivers a fantastic slice of Bavaria with incredible food, world-class beer, and an atmosphere that guarantees a good time. It’s a definite must-visit!
I served in the US army decades ago and did some time in Schweinfurt Germany. Decided to take my sister to lunch as we were getting her car repaired and had some time to kill. Drove out to Walburg to have some German food. Jager schnitzel is what I remember from way back when. I ordered that and she ordered her order and I had a Weizen beer as well. We were early for lunch so we were alone in the place. Excellent decor and atmosphere. Excellent service from the waitress as we were the only person there up there. Very passionable. I asked her some questions about some of the food I remembered from long ago and she said that they have either had that in the past or have that at other times rather than when we were there. Lots going on at this place in the evenings and on the weekends I would imagine. There is an arcade and beer garden in the back. Kind of have to be in the area to eat at this place cuz it's a small town about 10 or 15 minutes out of Georgetown, Texas. We enjoyed our lunch and conversation! Also, just up the road check out the holy Trinity Catholic Church of Cornhill, in Jarrell, Texas. My parents had their 50th wedding anniversary and renewal of vows at this church. Very historic place.
Black forest cake was amazing. Curry wurst appetizer is amazing. You have to try the water here. It's incredible. Also if you come here you HAVE to get the chicken fried steak with fries and ask for extra gravy. That gravy is soooooooo gooood with the fries definitely come here every thing is so good even the bread and butter is just amazing. I definitely will come back!! (-my kids)
Wow! Just wow! I now see the only reason someone would give this place a bad review was to keep the crowds away. This place is amazing. We'd been to Dale's once. Always just ignored this place because we never knew what was inside. The beers were OUTSTANDING. We are three very picky eaters. Here goes the food: 1) The bread was the warmest, freshest house made bread. Amazing. 2) We ordered the sausage plate and shared. The sausage was remarkable, each with a rich, flavorful homemade sauce. The mash potatoes. Yes. Just yes. I am not huge on Kraut. I loved it! Service: so polite and attentive. Callie was our waitress. She knew all about every dish and each beer. A+ service. To top it off, they sent us home with more complimentary bread! We are surely coming back. Tell your friends about this place, but only the ones you really like. The room was full by 7pm Friday. People aren't driving out to Walburg for mediocre. This place is legit.
This is my new favorite restaurant anywhere on the planet. I have German heritage so when I travel, I often look for traditional German restaurants. When I pulled into the parking lot of the Wahlberg German restaurant I was so excited and I was not disappointed in the slightest. The food wasn’t like a restaurant, it was like traditional German home cooking. I couldn't decide what to get so I settled on the Rinderoulade and the Jagerschninitzel. Both were heavenly. They also had a very wide variety of German beer. Their Dunkel on tap was delightful. The atmosphere was unique to German restaurants. You have to see my photos to believe it. It was like suddenly being transported to Germany. I felt so welcome. Although I came in alone, I didn’t eat by myself. I made several new friends, including my amazing waitress and the cook. If I come back to the Austin area, Wahlburg will be the first place I eat.
Like being in Germany! Who would have thought this small town with a name of Walburg (yes like actor) would have such a great restaurant! I have a specialized diet and there was food even i could eat. A little warm inside, but hey, its Texas. Flavorful, variety, friendly neighbors, respectful, great community.
What a little hidden GEM this place is! If you are in the area and want THE best German meal you have ever had, you have found the place! The owner is the heart and soul of this place, and his presence shows! His employees are top-notch, and you feel welcome and special from the moment you walk into the building. And speaking of the building.. what a unique place full of history! This is one of our favorite places we have ever been! (52 years old and we love to travel!)
First off, there are so many great german choices in CENTEX. Walburg sets itself apart with a very good buffet and live music on Friday and Saturday. We went with our 7 month old and the place was very accommodating. The buffet was well stocked with numerous choices of fresh veg, chicken, beef, pork, and seafood. All for $24 and taxes. The food is quite good and atmosphere even better!
I spent nine years in Germany and never had better food than I did at Walburg. The service was great, and the buffet was well-stocked with a great variety of yummy food. The band was a little bit too loud, and we were seated almost as far away from it as possible. I kind of felt sorry for the people sitting right next to the stage. The singing was great and appropriate, but it could have been at a lower volume. The loudness detracted from the overall experience. The quality of the food will bring me back the next time I am in the area.
My Wife was born in Germany and she told our neighbor in Round Rock she was looking for authentic German food and she told her about Walburg German Restaurant. We took the 30 min drive today and it was well worth it. The building built in the late 1800s was transformed into a authentic beer hall. When you walk in the aroma of the food cooking let's you know you are in for a treat. Food was fabulous. More surprising was the large beer garden in back with a huge covered tent and band stage. All the Staff were excited to inform us on the history, dishes and events. We met the Owner/Chef/Mgr. in the beer garden and he was more than happy to expand on the food and history. Don't miss out on the Walburg Fest with bands, food & beer 8/30 - 9/1.

We finally stopped in for lunch. The staff is very kind and the Wiener schnitzel sandwich was delicious. We will define heading back in October!

Fantastic! The german draft beer was great. The pretzel - best we’ve ever had! No frills, nostalgic and wonderful food!

The Walburg Restaurant was a find ! The German food is excellent, as is the rustic venue. Go past the building to the back which has food and drinks as well as two stages for bands.
We come here every year for my dad's birthday, very fun energetic atmosphere especially on the weekend. They have a band who sings German folk songs and yodles. Large selection of German beers in bottle and on tap that you won't find anywhere else. The food is pretty good not a 5 star restaraunt but they do offer authentic German food. Large buffet or order from the menu no food for vegetarians but they do offer fish. Make sure to get the apple strudel for dessert it is my favorite!
Our family went here for a sort of family reunion, and thoroughly enjoyed it (after we got seated). I had the Jager schnitzel and it was delicious! We got some apple strudel to go and it was delicious too! Our server was very attentive and did a great job. Everyone (except the hostess) were so friendly. (The hostess was very inconvenienced by us being there, but I don't think we bothered her too much after she seated us.) We plan to come back.
Lovely dinner for two last Friday. Relaxed COVID atmosphere and no wait to sit at 6pm. Friendly, but not smothering wait staff was informative and efficient. Jagershnitzel was delicious and warm, not scalding hot. Spaetzle was like grandma and mom used to make, but the red cabbage was drier than I’m used too. Perhaps that’s authentic, I don’t know. Overall nice experience.
The place was packed and looked to be understaffed. The ladies did their best and we were seated with 20 minutes of checking in. The buffet was plenty and the beer was cold. It was extremely stuffy and hot but overall a good experience. Food from buffet was ok and could have used some cleaning up from time to time.
I've been several times over many years. For whatever reason, the food was not as good as on previous visits. Every place has off days, so I will try again next time I visit Texas.
Stopped by today for lunch today after hiking in Georgetown. Haven’t been in a few years so we decided to visit. They weren’t too busy so we were seated quickly. Service was fast and friendly. I had Jagerschnitzel which was delicious. My wife had chicken fried steak but she did not like it. She said it wasn’t seasoned well, and the gravy was off. We did not send it back. She did live the fries though, and she said the tea was great. We did not have desert but they have a great desert list, Maybe next time! All in all, it was worth stopping by.
They have a great buffet on Sundays. We want to come back and try the regular menu. Service was great. Fun place to just hang out and look at all of the trinkets and stein's
I ordered the buffet, lots of choices, with something for almost everyone. Sauerkraut and red cabbage aren't great, the sauerbraten was not tender at all, schnitzel was tasty, sausage was good, goulash was a mix of sausage and chunks of meat, not bad, but average at best. All-in-all, a good meal.
Great little German restaurant! The apps that we had were awesome delicious curryworst was really good! Got the Rinderroulade as my main dish and it had good flavor but was very very tough needed to braise for a longer time. My wife got the Wienerschnitzel and it was very good! Service was alright, they were busy so it is what it is.
This was a great family German style restaurant. The decor had a Bavarian pub style to it. Unfortunately the arcade was closed due to Covid. Don't let your kids know! The food was OK. I had the schweinerbraten. The sauerkraut and spatzle were very good, but the pork loin was flavorless and seemed like it was broiled with a soaked consistency. The gravy tasted very generic. Pretty disappointed. They made up with a solid beer selection and amazing cherry turnover. I almost ordered another helping! The beer garden in the back behind the restaurant had a band playing and the kids had a blast back there. Overall fun time, but the food is hit or miss.
I really enjoy this place. It is a bit of a drive but well worth it. 2 areas of concentration: beir garten and actual restaurant with sit down dining. It is easily said that i have encountered stellar, friendly and helpful service at both. Really, you cant go wrong with any of the staff i have encountered. Patrons have, by and large, been pleasant as well. Good mix of families and ages here. During the October fest season, the sitdown restaurant is buffet style. I think the food might be better off a menu, but it is still very enjoyable with a large variety. More limited, but still tasty choices in the beir garten. Music inside is on a small stage fir for more intimate performances. Decore of the large and i mean LARGE insode dining room is rustic with german heritage all over. Place was clean, well tended and filled with the kind of character you would expect. The garten outaide with a large double stage under cover with plenty of picnic table seating. This is in addition to the vast array of other tables spread amongst the trees. I count 3 or 4 beverage bars and place to order limited menu food. Music out here is spectacular and there is a place to dance on concrete. Limited out front parking, we usually park in the smooth grass field in the back. Really like this place.
The free bread basket was the first surprise. Light, fluffy and obviously hand made it was quickly devoured. Honestly just the bread alone was worth the trip. My sausage plate was delicious, sausage with a perfect snap and just the right spices. The homemade fermented sauerkraut was such a welcome change from the typical pickled, vinegar taste. My husband thught the curry worst was a bit bland (he likes spicy curry) but that is the only suggestion. He got strudel for dessert and it was flaky and just the right amount of pie spices. It is well worth the trip. The many collections lining shelves on the walls were interesting while we waited for food to be delivered. Pricing was very reasonable.

Read about this place in a Texas magazine. Was excited to try. We live in Georgetown but moved here from Milwaukee Wisconsin, so we know German food. Also read about the Walburg boys who play German music and yodel on Friday and Saturday nights. . Took the short 20 minute drive and was seated promptly and received our German beer and wine quickly. I ordered the Rouladen dinner and husband chose the buffet. Pros: the potato soup,, schnitzel, brats, shrimp, sauerkraut, red cabbage were delicious. Cons: Sauerbraten was very tough, jagerschnitzel gravy was very salty and salmon was super fishy tasting. Husband did not try the kids food. My rouldaden dinner which was very good came after my husband had soup, salad and 2 trips to the buffet. Didn’t understand why it took so long. Server did not warn us it would take long. Our biggest disappointment came after we ate and moved outside to the tent where the music was. On the website it said the Walburg Boys would be playing that night, which consists of 5 members playing keyboard, guitar, saxophone, bass, fiddle, drums and yodeling. What did we see? A 4 piece band playing 2 guitars, drums and a violin and no yodeling or German music. Definitely not the Walburg Boys. Music was so so. So between the ok food and the misrepresented music we will not be back. Too bad because we were excited to have a fun German place close to home. The picture below is the picture from the magazine saying who plays on Friday and Saturday nights and according to the website they were suppose to play on June 20th. Band that played was nothing like this.
We opted for a German Thanksgiving this year and made reservations on line as it was only open for about 4 hrs. We did not see the menu on the website or the cost. We were seated at a long table and that was it. Having never been in the restaurant before our waitress made no communication about the buffet, the cost, our drinks, etc. We found our way to a long line and chose our food from the buffet. The food was good and included the traditional Thanksgiving items as well as Schnitzel, German noodles and pork. We flagged a waitress for water who never came again to refill our cups. My husband had to go looking for dessert and found a separate area where he chose a delicious pumpkin cheesecake and an OK Black Forest cake. No one there mentioned only the pumpkin pie choice came with the buffet - any other choice was additional- 6.95 & 7.95. We again had to find a waitress and ordered coffee which typically comes with a buffet- water, tea and coffee, but not so. Coffees cost 2.00 each. When ready to leave, my husband went to the register to pay, as again no waitress to be found, and came back incredulous that there was a 20% gratuity charge added to our bill, along with the above mentioned items! Now I don't mind paying 20% gratuity when I receive great service, in fact I do it all the time. However, this was NOT great service. Not by a long shot. For 2 people to eat at a Thanksgiving buffet it cost about $72.00, with lousy service and unfriendly waiters and waitresses.
It was our first time eating here. We had a party of 8 eating together tonight. We were seated pretty quickly. And then we waited. And waited. No menu only the alcohol list. 1 of the ladies from our table got up and found the menus for us. The waitress finally came over, got our drink order, and told us that we could order off of the menu, but it would not come out together for a party of 8. She suggested the buffet. 2 of our party did, and the rest of us ordered off the menu. For German food, it was not the best I've had and not the worst, but they really need to bring it out hot. I doubt we will go back.
Wonderful little place. Food is wonderful too. They don't offer a military discount though.
It had been a while since we'd actually been to the restaurant and it was not what I remembered it to be. Very, very understaffed, uh took a long time to get seated was toad, would take 15 to 20 minutes and it ended app being almost 45 minutes before we ever got seated. And uh, we had the buffets, you get to the buffet and half of the products on the buffet. Uh uh uh they hadn't filled them, hadn't had anything n. Uh, in the area like their prime rib, suck, attach our goulash, whichever and by the time I was through, then they brought some out. So it was just a very poor experience and uh, for the most part, the people were not friendly acting. The waitress she was alright. It was just a very bad experience.
The place is up for sale for a few million dollars!!! \nThe buffet is not the greatest, however I have a feeling it will get worse now that the place is up FOR SALE FOR MILLIONS.

Veal schnitzel was bland, meat was hard as cardboard. Very disappointed. Black Forest cake and beer was all good.

Excellent food, beer, and atmosphere. Deducted two stars solely based on how rude the lady working the front counter is. I've been told she's the owner or owners daughter but regardless her attitud…
Food is good, but they need to clean the green ceiling streamers which are VERY dusty & cannot be sanitary if that dust is raining down on food

Great atmosphere for adults and kids. music is fantastic with lots of different songs. Service is ok but food is marginal. Been going for over 10 years but food is just ok. They need to serve…
This place has been around many years.....and for that it gets 2 stars. In the fall, the outdoor beirgarten is open, and it's a fun place for families and friends to gather for a lovely environment and live music. Unfortunately the night we went it was a little chilly..no out door seating and the only food option was a buffet. The food was TERRIBLE and the service slow and rude. It was so disappointing as we took family from out of town hoping to share a great TX German food experience...and it was anything but. It was packed. Seating was uncomfortable folding metal chairs. Long tables with multiple families sitting at one table. Tables so close together, you can't get in or out without having to squeeze between seated ppl saying excuse excuse excuse me. Not very fun when everyone is required to get up if they want food. Environment was extremely loud, and we were there before the live music started. Not a place for casual conversation unless you can read lips or like yelling to talk to the person across the table. If you are looking for a place to sit, drink beer, and not eat or socialize, this would be a great place. The buffet line was horribly executed. Only one very long line with a 15 min wait. Very inconvenient when you have a group and one or two ppl sit back to guard all the purses, etc, while everyone else goes to get food. The lag time made the whole meal awkward ... Some were finished and sitting waiting on the others to even get through the buffet line. The salad section of the bar was unappetizing. Lettuce was wilted and looked slimy. I love salad and there was nothing on the salad bar that I felt was safe to eat or looked like I should try. There was potato soup...yah! How disappointed to find out it was inedible....it tasted burnt...all throughout...like maybe the cook burnt the bottom of the pot, removed the burnt part from the soup, then just left the burnt flavor thinking no one would notice if they added extra salt. The flavor was nothing more than burn and salt. Ick and gross! But....I was still holding out for some of that delicious spaetzle and weinerschnitzel that I e had here before..but after waiting in the buffet line for 15 minutes, I opened the spaetzle container and it was empty😥 Luckily, I thought, a kitchen wait staff came out to refill another tray of something and I asked about the spaetzle...she was rude, short, and yelled it's cooking! I asked should I wait there in line for it (I was not going to come back and get in line and do that wait again) or could a waitress just bring some to our table when some was done. Again she yelled and said "No waitress can bring it to you. I don't care what you do!" Okay then🤷🤷....I stood there and waited. It was an awkward feeling and I felt in the way, but no one at this restaurant cared at all about customer service. Finally....got the noodles....they were slimy water wet...no butter...no saute....just boiled noodles not properly even drained. Schnitzel was pounded so thin you couldn't taste or get any texture from the meat...it was just all crust. Cod was dry, salmon was butchered, fried potatoes over cooked and dry. No desserts on buffet. Must be bought separately. It was such a sad bad and embarrassing experience food wise...especially when I had told our guests all about the great German food....but there were a a few good things worth noting: *Large selection of beer including alcohol free beer here *Apple strudel is excellent and they WILL deliver it to your table!! *The red cabbage was delicious Those 3 things won't get me to go back anytime soon, but I will enjoy the outside garden again on a beautiful day.
We took our neighbors for a sandwich but they weren't serving food for 1 1/2 hours. We had to wait for the buffet that had been sitting in the warmers for over an hour as we couldn't get a sandwich…
1. made reservations - they did not tell us that the buffet would be closed. 2. pre-plated, under a heat lamp, 'turkey dinner' served - with standard turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes that tasted lik…

We came in ready to order sandwiches a group of 7. The 3 servers were so rude and looked at our ethnic friend with disgust. Two people asked to look at the menu and they refused. Lots of servers standing around. One guy who arrived 10 min behind us got seated while we still had to wait. So rude and mean. We’ll take our $350 elsewhere. What a bummer.
Well!!!!!!! I will not be returning here! The food was decent BUT.......I came with a wine tour group and we had reservations, there were 11 of us, we were seated quickly, it wasn’t very crowded, we were not given menus, our waitress told us that since we had a large group we couldn’t order off the menu and HAD to get the buffet!!!!!! She said with such a large group we would overload the kitchen!!!!!! I have never herd of something so ridiculous!!! Then when we asked for drinks she said “you’ll get water for now”. Two additional large groups arrived after ours and I noticed that they were all given menus!
The food was really bland. None of it tasted like German food. The kebab gyro was just as the gyro kit I just bought at H‑E‑B. The cakes are store bought. The Sweet and unsweet tea tasted the same. The waiter was nice. She came refilled one drink at the table not the other. I am disappointed so I would not come back and wouldn’t recommend anyone coming here.
Unfortunately our experience was not great. Buffet at 3 PM on Sunday was scarce. Food was not fresh and looked like it had been sitting under lamps for some time. Beer was good and they have wide variety of German beer.
Two of us went there first NYE celebration. Knew the price would be higher because of New Years. 65.00 per person, drinks and desert extra. “Glass” of champagne at midnight was a shot, not a glass. Food was awful. Rib roast so tough I could not cut. Potato soup had a funny taste. Meats just didn’t look good. Atmosphere was fun, bad, The Walburg Boys was good, just horrible food.
Their Sunday buffet was not very good 😕. The Roast Beef was so tuff it was like rocks! It took 30 minutes to bring out the potato soup. I asked to be seated next to the fire place or close to it. I was seated further away from the buffet and fireplace. I had to take the initiative and seat myself and husband next to the dessert display and fireplace. Then the wait staff seemed to be in a hurry to rush us out! Guess they just wanted to keep their regular customers happy.
I’m sharing this due to the comments made by staff. On Thanksgiving we made reservations for 1pm but to our mistake it was actually 1:30, we drove 45 minutes and arrived at 12:40pm. The hostess asked the manager if we could be sat early but she said we would have to wait for our reservation. Over half of the restaurant was empty and had about 6 long tables to seat 20 that were empty. This is our first Thanksgiving without our father so cooking was not something we wanted to do this year, our tab was $160 as the 1 plate meal is $24.99 per person. The hostess said we could get a beer and wait but none of us drink. We walked around the dilapidated Biergarten (looks like a tetanus shot waiting to happen and nothing spectacular about it, I hope they don’t cool and serve food in the kitchen area because it was covered in dirt) Once our reservation time arrived we went in and waited for our table. The hostess wanted to seat us in the walk in section elbow to elbow with strangers (the one we could have been sat in when we arrived an hour early, and didn’t have to wait that hour) When I spoke to the manager she said we could leave or wait for our table, that she was serving 400 people but half of the restaurant was empty, maybe 40/50 occupants. After our reservation time it took another 20 minutes to be sat. After we were sat we got our drinks and then proceeded to wait another 45 minutes for our food as people who came in way after us were served. We told our waitress who then brought our food, I guess bc here we are again complaining. The food is pre-prepared and was semi cold and less than tasty, only 2 drink refills and the waitress never checked on us. They add a 20% gratuity to your ticket for holidays, that would be fine if we would have been waited on more than twice, a $25 tip for subpar service. When we left I asked about the gratuity and the guy mentioned it was standard for holidays, unfortunately the entire experience was less than great, barely mediocre. When I mentioned this he said “oh I heard about you” and proceeded to mumble a few other things about working on Thanksgiving when he could be with his family (if you don’t like working holidays maybe find a more suitable career). Probably why we sat as long as we did and felt ignored the entire time, then sat at our table for 45 minutes waiting for already prepared food that came out cold. Happy for you that you have your family to spend some part of the day with. I have been to this establishment many times, but today was a day we missed a valued family member and was already an emotional one. I will not recommend this place ever again. And guy in the blue plaid shirt I hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving later with your family. The enter place needs a deep clean, it’s one thing to be historic or eclectic but gross doesn’t fall in those categories.
