Popped by randomly and didn’t disappoint. Food was more small bites, but it was perfect to order a variety of items
Definitely want to come back! So much to try. Everything we had was great. Food was delivered fast and everything was tasty. Duck 👍 Papaya Salad 👍 Fish Tacos 💯 Tuna carpaccio 👍
Best French-Vietnamese Tapas around. Service, Food, Wine Selection and Drinks are amazing. The atmosphere since the freshen-up/interior botox facelift gave the place a much more mature and finished feel. Swanky Lounge area is comfy and nice for larger casual groups. The upstairs is great for Private Parties and gatherings!!
Vanessa's Bistro honors the classics with subtle elevated twists. For example, the notion of tuna carpaccio sounded odd to me but it was absolutely one of the best preparations of tuna I've had in a while - bold and amazing. The poke was well balanced by the addition of diced sweet peaches against the classic umami of poke. I ordered an old-fashioned that was prepared with just a touch of coconut and banana liqueur, which sounds like a food crime, but was a beautiful tropical note to the strong whiskey flavor. Vibe was a relaxed chic feel. I recommend.
The people here are so family-friendly Everything on the menu 😋 👌 They also do gluten-free dishes
Must try: chicken wings, tuna carpaccio and the beef noodles....And of course the banana fosters dessert, skip the tacos.. their just "ok"... yum!!
My favorite part of Tuesday is Tapas Tuesdays at Vanessa's Bistro 2 in Walnut Creek!! $6 Avion Silver Margaritas 50% all tapas all day!! And the service is phenomenal!! The bartenders and servers are excellent!! #boom
One of my favorite spots in downtown Walnut Creek. Excellent happy hour.
We stumbled upon this spot on our way to another one and it did not disappoint! We were lured by their Taco Tuesday happy hour - 2 tacos+margarita- and let’s just say that both the tacos and the margarita were GOOD! I will definitely be back and sharing with my sphere! -Courtney Bolger, REALTOR® eXp Realty
Food was yummy and just the right portion. The service was fast and friendly. Highly recommend for getting together with friends or shopping break.
Delicious food! Portions are smaller but I enjoy them, and they are great to get several and mix and match. Delicious flavors, fast and friendly service and a pretty extensive menu (especially seafood options). Drinks are great too - absolutely recommend this place for gathering with friends.
Unique dishes, jumbo prawns with garlic noodles were little too salty for my taste but it was delicious. The Ahi tuna was fantastic, nicely presented, atmosphere is very cozy and nice. The staffs were very friendly and helpful. The price is little bit high but it was worth it.
My first time having dinner here at Vanessa Bistro with a French Twist. The food were delicious. We ordered a slow oven roasted pork, fresh prawns spring rolls, vermicelli noodle salad & Lychees martinis. Yum! In addition to the delish food. The staff were very pleasant, attentive and provided us an excellent service! I highly recommend this place. 💕
Came here with a friend and had a legit dinner. The lemongrass chicken was unreal. It had a peanut sauce that was delicious. The chicken wings were a close second. I know what you’re thinking, “If I wanted wings, I’d go to BWW.” These are not those wings. These wings have a flavor touched by the food gods. While the prawns and the tacos were good, they were missing a little something, so I added the sauce from the lemongrass chicken and that did the trick. Overall atmosphere was legit. I’ll def go back.
This place gets popping on the weekends! We came for some great Vietnamese food and definitely got that and then some! There was parties of people coming in and the place got very lively! The food here is great, Service was great and the energy was wonderful!
The food here is always amazing and it has been for years. I just ordered some take out yesterday and it was fantastic! I highly recommend the fried prawns, the pulled pork sandwich, and the shaking filet salad (which was one of the best salads I ever had. The meat was perfectly cooked and super tender.) Thank you VANESSA’s for keeping it up :)
The service was friendly and speedy! Food and cocktails were all delicious, and they have an extensive wine selection to boot! I'll definitely be back for Tapas Tuesdays (half-off all tapas all day), especially for their special $6 Avion Silver tequila Margaritas- all day Tuesday! Great staff, great decor, late night Happy Hour is the best deal in town!
Good portions & quality of food. The customer service was on point. One of the best mojitos I've had in a loooong time. We had multiple dishes and they all were delicious. Everything tasted so fresh.
I love Vanessa's Bistro and go there usually once a week for lunch. Their food is fresh and tasty. Everything I've had has been great, in particular the lemongrass chicken. Their waitstaff is awesome, knows exactly what we want when we walk in, and deliver a great meal quickly.
We were pressed for time, and they put every minute to good use. Good recommendations for food and wine, the drinks and appetizers arrived super quickly and the rest was paced nicely. Everything was delicious, especially the coconut curry chicken. We'll be back for a less rushed meal!
Vanessa's Bistro is one of my favorite restaurants in Walnut Creek! They have amazing tapas, great portions, a great bar with a very nice wine selection. Everything on the menu is worth a try! Check out their Tapas Tuesdays where tapas are 1/2 price and you can get an Avion Margarita for $6!! The service here is great and the take pride in being a family run business. 5 Stars!
The 4 of us enjoyed everything. The calamari was the best I've had in California since I moved here 11 years ago. Fairly expensive for the quantity of food. Waitress was very nice and good.
Excellent! Wife and I went out for date here on Saturday night at my brother's suggestion. We weren't disappointed. I ordered a couple tapas, Salmon & Tuna poke & a Slow Oven Roasted Pork, which we both shared. Wife ordered Sesame Seared Rare Ahi Tuna w/Soba Noodles. All food was excellent and paired well with the Jolivet, Sancerre(France) Sauvignon Blanc. Service was great, too. We showed up 30 mins early per our reservation, were seated in a side area and enjoyed a couple delicious cocktails. Prices aren't killers, we'll be back.
Chic bistro with selections of French-Vietnamese tapas and main dishes. Great for date night or a night out with friends. They have half off tapas all day Tuesdays and half off bottles of wine on Wednesdays as part of their happy hour offerings. Service is very attentive, would definitely recommend.
Attended a private event at Vanessa's Bisteo 2, and I loved the ambience! Service was excellent, and appetizers and drinks were fabulous. The space inside is intimate, and there is also seating available outside.
OMG! Fabulous food and service. The food was so flavorful and delicious. Our server Dallas was great. We loved everything. We got the sauteed chicken breast salad, stir fried filet mignon and chicken with garlic noodles and the clay pot rice. Yumm. You must try out this place.
The good is very enjoyable. Everything is full of flavor and it dances on your tongue, everything blending together to create magic. The water is 10/10, it's so refreshing. The man named Mike is a huge fan of Ninja Turtles and is 'lit', don't mention Carl's or Glenn's death because it's a sensitive subject to him.
Love their Tapas! Garlic noodles are my favorite! The salt and pepper tofu is great too. If you have room the bananas foster is great to share or not share sometimes. We have been going here for years!
Finally tried this place after working in Walnut Creek for five years and wish I came sooner! The ingredients are FRESH, the flavors mesh well together- the Filet Mignon was cooked perfectly and marinated well. The fish sauce has a tang that leaves an impression. The decor lifts your whole experience- great for date night, dinner with friends, or even taking yourself on a date here as they have a full bar with seating. Staff was super friendly too! Will definitely be going back.. highly recommend!
I recommend the filet mignon and chicken stir fry. Wow! The meat was so soft, perfectly cooked. The texture of the noodles will blow you away! Also the chicken wing appetizer was bursting with fresh flavor from onions, cilantro and garlic. My wife had the spicy jalapeno mescal paloma. Talked about it the rest of the night. 😁
Got the garlic noodles with beef cubes and chicken along with a Buddha beer. Very tasty. The server and bartender Mike is a great guy. Excellent food and service. Will be back again soon.
Five stars for flavor and value! Vanessa’s Bistro 2 is a hidden gem for affordable, delicious Vietnamese food in a beautiful setting. The food tasted amazing and the bill was a pleasant surprise. Highly recommend their specials.
I’ve only been for their weekend late night happy hour but I’ve always enjoyed myself, the food, drinks, and staff
Went with a colleague and really enjoyed it. We were seated on the first floor, had a waitress who did not mind answering questions and enjoyed a bit of humor. The food was quite tasty and not overpriced. They were featuring half-priced bottles of wine from their already reasonable prices, but since i was the only wine drinker, i passed. Definitely worth a return visit to try more things. Only negative was that our waitress offered us both a choice of rice with our dishes, but neglected to tell us there was a charge for it.
I went to this restaurant for after the Frida Kahlo exhibit at the Bedford Gallery as they advertised they had a happy hour. They did have a happy hour menu but it was still expensive. I had a Lychee martini, their Petrale Sole fish tacos & tuna carpaccio & spent $10 more than our favorite dim sum restaurant feeding 2 hungry people & taking home leftovers. However, the Martino and food was delicious, presented beautifully and restaurant was located within a block of the Bedford Gallery. So not a bargain but a nice place.
Vanessa's Bistro 2 is a Vietnamese restaurant conveniently located on the popular Locust Street in Walnut Creek, an area known for its many great dining options. A couple of days ago, we decided to give it a try. We ordered two drinks and several recommended tapas-style dishes, including chicken wings, chicken spring rolls, salt and pepper shrimp, and carpaccio. The food was decent, and the service was friendly and attentive. Overall, it's a solid spot, and I’d recommend it to anyone in the area looking for a casual Vietnamese fusion experience.
Went on a Saturday night. Great food, quick service, but very small portions for the price. The calamari was delicious, but several other restaurants within a few blocks offer calamari at a lower price or much larger amount. The menu on the website has outdated pricing, but I attached the menu from when I went in Aug 2022. Many of the restaurants in downtown Walnut Creek, including Vanessa’s, offer great happy hour menus/prices though. I’d recommend this place for happy hour. The Moscow mule was good, had the perfect amount of “kick”. Spring rolls were also good and the bean sauce was also a bit spicy but delicious with or without it.
What a surprise great food and service. Got here during happy hour had some appetizers then dinner. The food outstanding (see photos).
Love the tapas style without the need for it to be Spanish food! The pork and spring rolls were so good. Late night happy hour drink specials were surprisingly tasty and refined cocktails. Will definitely be back.
I like the ambiance of the restaurant; the staff is friendly, helpful and experienced - they come by when you need them to. Ordered potstickers (surprisingly great - I'm Chinese), Manhattan (great!) and crab salad (pretty good but kind of small.) My dining partner said the the pulled pork sandwich was good. Yay to indoor dining (and good Covid spacing between tables)!
Ordered several tapas and the gluten free were delicious. The non gf tapas, I was told were delicious too. Interesting cocktails, service was wonderful. I highly recommend Vanessa's.
I like the food but many times the dishes are just over salty & the chicken was really tough & poor quality. The beef was tender so I was happy with that.
The service was great. We sat close to the door and I was especially thankful for how the host handled the door (making sure it closed fully as new folks arrived). Considering the price, I think the food was good but not quite as good as I was expecting. We ordered entrees, but perhaps we should've ordered from the tapas section of the menu.
Stopped by for a quick, light dinner, tried the chicken sandwich with Garlic fries, and Pulled pork tacos. The chicken sandwich was OK, the pulled pork tacos was below average and full of fat. Service was good, pricing average. No plans for going back. There are much better Vietnamese restaurants in the area.
Stopped by for the Tuesday 1/2 Tapas and $6 margaritas. The wife had a $16 glass of wine. We were surprised when we didn’t get the Tuesday pricing and the waitress said the computer came up on the wrong page. Other than having to ask for the adjustment the Tapas was good.
We came here for dinner this past weekend and enjoyed our time. The service was good and despite them being busy they got us a table. Drinks were refreshing and plenty strong. Our main issue stemmed from the food. We ordered the oven roasted pork tapas and were not impressed. The pork had plenty of flavor but was way over cooked. Some pieces were so dry we couldn't chew them well. My wife ordered a raw fish dish with a slight saute and according to her, it tasted like they sauteed in a pan with no seasoning. I had the chicken and steak garlic noodle bowl and was quite pleased. We will definitely try to visit again to give them another shot!
This is one of those restaurants that probably only has a few dishes that are great and the rest are disappointing. Service was nice but the food, not so much. I stopped by here since most of the places around the area had long waiting times but I figured out why after I tried their food. My friend ordered a banh mi and he enjoyed it. I ordered fish tacos and the tortillas were burnt black. There were like one or two small pieces of fish in the tacos. I also ordered some scallop dish I don't remember the name of and it did not taste fresh. They tasted old and had an unbelievably strong stale fishy taste to it. I probably ordered the wrong dishes so if you ever plan on coming here, don't order what I ordered.
This place is bad in too many aspects. I feel I'm pretty generous in my reviews very rarely do I leave a 1 star but this meal for 4 cost me 160 ish and gave me food poisoning. The food itself along side being expensive was bad. I usually like to leave alternatives in my recommendation but I only know one place in sanjose that serves similar food that isn't bad. The bahn mi was about 90% bread and 10% crab. The fried chicken was decent but they clearly cut the chicken so thin to make it seem like it's more than it is and as a result dried out the chicken. The spring rolls were chewy and was more rice than roll. If you see this review GO SOMEWHERE ELSE even if you're looking for Vietnamese food look else where.
Got a chicken Banh Mi sandwich. It was terrible, small, and $16 before tax. Chicken taste frozen and bland. Bread was stale and hard. I will never ever go back to this place again. Don’t recommend it to anybody. Basically ruined my night.
Food was nothing special. I think they try to appeal to American taste buds by making things spicy. I asked the server if the vermicelli bowl was not spicy. It isn't spicy usually, but I always ask. She said it wasn't spicy at all. Turns out it was spicier than anyone else's food. I guess she doesn't know her menu. She was also a bit brash for my liking. I wouldn't come back here for vietnamese food. Too many other good less expensive choices with better service.
