Nick’s Riverside Grill boasts a great location right on the Georgetown waterfront, offering beautiful views of the Potomac River. The atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant—perfect for a casual lunch or evening out. Prices are reasonable, and the staff is exceptionally friendly and attentive, especially our server who went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. We opted for healthier main dishes so we could indulge in their famous nachos guilt-free—and they were definitely worth it! While the food overall was decent, it’s really the setting and service that make this place stand out. It’s also a great spot to grab a drink after a walk along the waterfront. We’ll definitely be back.

Stopped in to get a drink and kill some time, and ended up having a great experience! The bartender was absolutely wonderful! She was attentive, prompt, super friendly, knowledgeable, and made the experience what it was! Her recommendations were spot on and delicious. The mini-corn dogs will forever be my go to as they are delicious!! The drinks and well made, and they have a good beer selection. The prices are also quite reasonable. Nicks Riverside Grill in Georgetown is a must visit!

This was a highlight of Georgetown. Service for a group of 54 was fast and efficient. My beer by Great Lakes brewery was very amazing. Did a untapped brewery review. The glazed salmon, garlic roasted potatoes, and perfectly made brocoli seasoned. What a fun exciting place. Must come here again.

It was a warm Monday afternoon. We wanted to eat outdoors and knew Nicks was the spot. They have a prime location on gtown waterfront and have a huge space both inside and out, along with a nice bar area outside with sofa seating. Was able to get seats outside facing the waterfront. Service was great, had someone come to us often. The food is good but very expensive. It was $150 for both of us without any alcohol. You pay for being in Georgetown, waterfront, and post pandemic prices.

Beautiful view unfortunately it was raining when we went. The food was good. Shrimp tacos were big and had plenty of shrimp on them. The double cheeseburger and wings were okay, nothing special. Overall good and our server was very attentive.

It was my birthday weekend and a friend tteated me. We got seated right away. It was a beautiful day so we sat outside. Our waitress was gery busy but took excellent care of us. The atmosphere was nice. We were right next to the water but protected with awning to block the sun. The food was very good. I had shrimp cocktail with a side caesar salad. My friend had the sangria and said it was really good. She never finishes her drinks but finshed the sangria in record time! She liked her old bay wings and said french fries were tasty!

We enjoyed this place. We had drinks outside. They have a nice bar. Service was good. I would recommend this place. UPDATE: We went back and had the crab cake and the fried chicken sandwich. Both were good. Service was great.

What a surprise! I wasn’t expecting this wouldn’t be good food but I also wasn’t expecting it to be AMAZING FOOD! Simple food done deliciously. Well cooked, seasoned well. It tasted fresh like they just prepared it and it wasn’t sitting around waiting to be picked up. Note: it wasn’t a busy day. Late afternoon on a Thursday in October. The weather just happened to be AMAZING. 70 degrees in late Oct. not typical. We got crazy lucky. No crowds, great weather, beautiful view, and DE-LIC-OUS FOOD. I ate everything on my plate.

I went to the DC Drag Brunch on Saturday and it was a lot of fun. This location had good food and it was easy to navigate through tables to get to the buffet. The restaurant and bar area had plenty of space and was clean. The restrooms were also very clean. The staff were well organized and very friendly. The location is in a great place too - beautiful views and lots of other stores close by. I am very happy that this is the new location of the DC Drag Brunch!

Was a nice spot to have lunch on the water. Tried the Turkey burger with a house salade and was delicious. Great menu selection and drink selection. Calamari was a good starter. Service is friendly and quick.

It’s a Georgetown classic!! Gotta go and sit at the waterfront bar and enjoy the view and the amazing people watching. Something about the waterfront that attracts people from all over and that makes it great. The bartenders, the drinks and the nachos are wonderful. The outdoor bar even has TVs so you can still catch a game and be outside having fun. Love this place :))

Saturday afternoon live DJ in the bar area from 11AM to 2PM. The food selection is pretty good and definitely about average. Our food was delayed by over 30 but the manager and bartender took care of us. There are lots of water and biking activities nearby, which makes for a great spot afterwards. Also, Nick's participates in Chesapeake Bay restoration efforts.

I discovered a fantastic bar with a blend of indoor and outdoor seating, friendly bartenders, and a delectable menu. I usually go there for food, but today I went only for the drinks. I ordered a margarita with wine that was delicious. This place is a definite go-to for me.

Right on the Potomac. Full bar. Excellent mahi fish tacos and turkey burger. Indoor and outdoor seating.

A Pleasant Surprise on the Georgetown Waterfront We don’t usually head to the Georgetown waterfront for meals — our early experiences in DC matched the typical “tourist spot” formula: great view, but only so-so food. This weekend, though, our son picked the spot, so we went in with low expectations. To our surprise, it was excellent. The restaurant has sweeping views of the waterfront, a diverse menu with fresh flavors, and the service from Dayana was outstanding. I tried the Jerk Bowl, which was full of flavor and much better than I expected from a place on the river. A reminder not to judge every place by past experiences — sometimes the tourist spot really does deliver.

Good variety of food. We had a work dinner, and we were all well taken care of. Some drinks were stronger than others, no complaints. It's definitely a good place to drink with nice weather.

Service was great, view of the river superb and the food.....share between two! The serving sizes were pretty big and of course....rookie error...we got a nachos each. Way too much! Recommend Nicks for lunch after walking around Georgetown.

A nice bar, great location, the small food choices we had, were all solid good and tasty. Happy Hour I drinks was a bonus

Date of visit: Thursday, Aug 24th, 2023 Waterfront restaurant with a huge patio along the Potomac and a casual bar. In the Washington Harbour square. The patio curves along the recreational trail where you can enjoy your meal as you watch people run, and walk along the river. The service is a little weird – it is not bad service – it was just hard to know who to speak to and it seemed very confusing – at first. Once we were seated, we had a dedicated waiter and the confusion went away. We ordered the roasted jerk chicken dinner special and the burger with gouda. The Chicken was fantastic and very enjoyable – paired with lovely roasted vegetables, fingerling potatoes. The burger was nice – not terribly exciiting but certainly very good. The atmosphere of being on the patio was very nice – very casual and relaxed atmosphere. We got lucky and found very convenient street parking – but it looks like it might be a challenge to park in the area.

A wonderful seafood restaurant overlooking the river. Ample outdoor seating tables apart from the indoor dining that boasts 50' TV screens all over. Nice menu with plenty of options to choose from. We ordered a tomato and mozzarella cheese salad that had a nice balsamic dressing and Atlantic salmon fillet. Made to perfection. Great service, great portion size, fantastic ambiance. On a good day in DC, this is the spot to be!

The view was the best part!! Right by the water and the day was beautiful. Waa a little disappointed in the food though. After going through traffic. Of course not great parking. But location is worth it. Had to find a table for the waiters to even come to you. That took 15 mins. Had to move closer to the crowd. Not sure if that day they were short handed. But server was nice. I wouldn't so much go back but it was good for what it was worth.

We have always seen mixed reviews, so we weren't certain about eating here. But when every other restaurant on the waterfront on a beautiful Saturday was busy with over an hour wait, this place seated us almost immediately. We took a chance and overall were quite happy with it. This is more a 3.5 star restaurant, but we try to be generous and round up in cases such as this. The seating there is as pleasant as any of the other restaurants in terms of looking over the water. They also have another outdoor section on the side of the restaurant, so there's a little extra room for outdoir seating, but you don't have a view of the water. However there is a view of the fountain. The shrimp cocktail was actually very good. The shrimp were large, perfectly cooked, and very tasty. They put Old Bay on them which was a little surprising, but once you dipped into the cocktail sauce the seasoning didn't make a huge difference. The crab cakes were actually very good- just as good as some of the best crab cakes we've had in this area - large chunks of crab with very little breading and seasoned very nicely. The green beans on the side of the crab cake platter were done very simply but nicely and cooked al dente, which is always a plus. The potatoes were a little bland, but that's not the reason anyone's eating a crab cake anyway. The only real disappointment was the nacho platter. It would have been good except they felt the need to add fake cheese. They actually use real cheese too. Not sure why they also feel the need to use the runny thin stuff because it really detracted from dish. Otherwise it would have been pretty good. Overall a nice experience, and the wait staff was very nice and got our meal to us quickly. A nice place to sit and linger. It is however pricey. We spent $80 for two Iced teas, one appetizer, and three entrees. But if you're going to eat at a sit-down restaurant on the Georgetown waterfront you really can't expect to pay much less.

The pictures do not do it justice. Food was very good and well plated. Must try the crab cakes. Beautiful waterfront vibes with music. Excellent place to have a sunset dinner.

The restaurants interior is pretty decent. Ambiance ok. The waiter was quick to seat us. Our server was great and suggested since options for us based on the type of seafood preferences we had. The outdoor seating is wonderful. I love the views of the water and the bridge. I would definitely come here again.

The food (4/5): I ordered the sausage pizza for $20. As you can see I accidentally finished the first slice before taking the picture. I am very sorry and feel super ashamed for my unprofessionalism.. The pizza was pretty ight though. The service (4/5): My sister found the waiter very cute. He seemed chill and often came to our table to serve us. Shoutout to his mother for raising lil boy right. The restroom (3/5): 1. the room in general: The “MEN room” consists of 2 urinals in green and pink urinal block colors. The urinals have no wall in between. BIG REDFLAG! Then the restroom also has 2 cabins, but since they are separate from the main room I’d like to call them the VSBRs (Very Secret Business Rooms). The main room also has a fire alarm and an EMWH-Notice (Employees Must Wash Hands-Notice). You LOVE to see it. The sink worked pretty fine. The water had some good pressure and you were able to turn on the faucet by only holding your hands under the tap. I LOVE technology. However the soap dispenser had no sensors and the soap didn’t really have that much of a scent. I LOVE sand. You are given 2 choices to dry your hands. Option 1 is using basic old-school paper towels put in a small bascet. A save, but boring option. The second option is using air blower machines. However, as you might know as an active reader of my reviews, I’m not a big fan of air blowers. They are known for blowing germs on your clean hands. I DO NOT LOVE germans. 2. the VSBR (check above for meaning): Pardon my french, but the VSBR was pretty ‘Camion’. My dad is french ;) The room is very tiny, doesn’t get much light, and also doesn’t have a BCS (Baby Changing Station). But they were playing music. I LOVE music. I was in a hurry so I couldn’t figure out the model and year of the toilet. But I did find some tiles missing in the wall and a hole in the ceiling. Maybe someone was angry? Someone get your kid! I LOVE uuuh ummm uuh thick toiletpaper. Unfortunately they were only serving us with the thinest of the thinest toilet paper known to (men) and women. It was crazy!!!

Food: I had the jerk chicken bowl. The food tasted good, but the chicken was obviously frozen chicken breast that was microwaved/reheated and barely any cooking went into the making of my food. Drinks: outside bar on a hot summer day beers were not ICE cold. They were okay temperature. Not the way you want to cool off on a hot day. Service/atmosphere: staff was great. Atmosphere is also lovely for a sunny day.

The salad I had was pretty good, but I'm a little upset that I paid $11 for the world's smallest salmon filet on top. Also, the aperol spritz I had was one of the smallest spritzes I've ever had, but the price did not reflect its demure stature.

Stopped in for drinks after a hot day walking around DC. We sat at the bar inside to enjoy the AC on a hot muggy day. The service was kind of slow and we had to ask for things several times. The prices were on the high side. There is also outdoor seating right on the Potomac River.

J
Jeffrey Brooks-Holliday

Service was not so great. Definitely room for improvement. Management should know that they have tours coming and going from that area and should have a system to reflect that. Food and drinks were decent, filling and fulfilled its purpose. Will try again on next trip here and revise review if service standards improve.

Went for a hike and was in the area of george town and remembered I had a groupon for this place. So got my friends to go with me. The location is nice and I guess thats the reason they still in business charging these prices for this food. We went on a saturday around 2 so the place and area was pretty crowded. We got seated immediately however. The table was kind of weird like and outdoor fireplace table, but can't complain we didn't have to wait. Then we went to order. Got a calamari appetizer and it was just average. To soft for me. This came out relatively fast. We also ordered a pesto pasta and a smash burger. This part for a pasta and burger took about 1hr 15 mins to hit our table. During our wait I asked the waiter if we could just also put in an order of onion rings. He said no can't do that they only come with the burger. Kinda weird especially since we ordered a burger and we wanted something to eat while waiting over an hour for our food. Finally the food arrived. The smash burger wasn't impressive. The fries had no salt. The pesto pasta was just bland and for about 22 dollars that pesto pasta was super disappointing. Luckily our waiter did one right thing that day and gave us our meal free. For having to wait so long and not being able to get us onion rings. Overall wouldn't return especially for these prices. I guess since its right on the water near georgetown the foot traffic enough to bring people in. I still do have the groupon and will need to return to use it. So they have a second chance to amaze me. Second review: I bumped Nicks Grill to a 3 star now. The experience this time was much better and we got to use our groupon. We both ordered the New York Strip steaks. This tasted so much better than our food last time. However they were definitely over cooked for our request of medium. Also it was better than last times food, but still not amazing for 30 dollars. Luckily we had a groupon. We got seated fast again. Our waiter was more attentive at the start then slowly became less attentive. We needed more water. Overall after to visits I think the place is pretty average and its pricey. I won't return unless I had another groupon. Or they start a happy hour maybe.

I love this place so much that I drive from Cherry Hill NJ to come. But this visit wasn't the best. Whatever seasoning they put in their roasted potatoes should also be put on the broccoli blend. Also the broccoli was borderline raw. I asked for melted butter to think it would help with the flavor....nope it didn't. I had the half jerk chicken. That jawn must've been a Cornish hen because she was mighty small. But the flavor was good. The server barely came back to check on me. In her defense I don't know if she was handling inside and outside guests. But I was inside. Because outside was packed. Also, there was a MAN (not trans) using the ladies restroom. Standing at the toilet using it with the door open (VERY UNACCEPTABLE) he could've at least closed the door

I love this place so it pains me to write this. They have some seriously shady bill practices going on. Came for happy hour which you’ll notice on the menu the drinks are $5. But when the happy hour bill came the prices were not anywhere near accurate. Be careful and make sure you really look at your tab cause WTH

With the exception of the person who escorted us to our table, the rest were very blunt, grumpy, and quite rude. The food was quite bad, tasteless, and overpriced. Plus, they don't offer tips; they just add 20% extra.

N
N&N D

Good food but overpriced. I should have reviewed on Google more. My daughter just wanted salmon and chips so asked if they could do this. Got charged $28 just for this which seemed a little steep. Service was a little rushed and tried to clear up plates before my wife had finished. We asked if the parasol could be put up but weren't allowed as it was too windy, even though other ones were up. In short - if you want to pay over the odds and have a view of the river go here. Food is good, but I think I would go elsewhere next time.

Stopped in on Valentines Day around 6:00 pm. The restaurant was a low level of busy. We just came in for soda and dessert. Our order wasn’t placed by the server until nearly 45 minutes after we arrived, then we waited another 10 for the brownie to arrive. Food was good, but not worth the wait. The server never came to check on us. When they delivered food, we asked for the check. He came to bring that, but we didn’t see him again. I’d recommend anywhere else.

Nick’s Riverside Grill: come for the view, stay because your server has forgotten you exist. Our waiter seemed confused from the start, dropped off our food, and then pulled a full-on disappearing act. Hope you don’t need a refill—hydration apparently isn’t part of the service. I ordered a turkey burger. Was it edible? Yes. Memorable? Not at all. It was the kind of meal you eat just because you’re hungry and it’s 95 degrees outside, not because you actually want it. The only thing saving this place is the gorgeous riverside view, which honestly does all the heavy lifting. If Nick’s could match even half the effort nature puts into the scenery, this might actually be a great spot. Until then, it’s a one-and-done for me.

Food was edible but bland and cold. Server was really busy so I understand but we never got any water refills or anything. Won’t be back.

Went to nicks to meet family by the water jn GT. The food was good, not great. But the service and atmosphere was not so good. They sat us in the sunroom section, it was a 75 degree day, but the sunroom was 100 degrees. I asked for a window to be open, they open one, it was not enough. It was hot. Hotter than the gates of hell. I was thirsty and it took 20 minutes to get a drink. Took over 45 for the food. It was not a great lunch experience.

Please change the speakers on top of the bar, there is 3 speakers seen and 2 of them is dead on the left. Only one speaker providing music and that one is on far right. Please update this speakers with Genelec G3. This update will enhance the whole vibe. Please consider. Music quality is very important for the ambiance and currently it’ not good guys. I recommend,3 Genelec g3, one DAC, one streamer and Quboz account to provide best quality music. Reach me out for consultant.

The service at this establishment, especially on a Sunday, is truly disappointing. We came for crabs, which as a seafood restaurant, they should specialize in. We were met with "we only have small crabs leftover from yesterday and those are $100 for a dozen." What a SCAM. Once we began ordering, someone in our party decided to get crab legs upon the praise of the waitress just for half the meal (the potatoes, butter, and a scrap bucket) to be forgotten and not brought out until 3 servers and 30 minutes later. Who eats dry crab here? The food was cold by then and the other people in my party barely got to enjoy theirs either. We expected better, especially for the price, and was met with worse than the bare minimum.

A
Alex Bernstein

Was sitting at one of the 20 empty tables outside because my 80 year old mother had low blood sugar. Manager wanted us to get up because it was for “patrons only.” Good restaurants start from the top. If you can’t be good people, you won’t attract customers.

S
Shamim Jaber

I had dinner at Nick Riversie Grill in D.C., and when I checked my receipt later, I saw that the waiter had added an extra $10 tip on top of what I had already written. That’s completely unacceptable. I immediately contacted my bank to dispute the charge. Restaurants should verify all tips honestly and respect what the customer writes — not alter them afterward. Check your receipts carefully if you eat here. This kind of behavior ruins trust fast.
