Đồng Khánh is highly praised for its authentic Northern Vietnamese pho, especially the rich and flavorful broth. Customers appreciate the clean environment and friendly service. The garlic beef and generous portions are also frequently mentioned.
Tip: Check in on Yelp or Google to get a free drink. Also, don’t forget to order a side of bagel twists to dip.
The pho here is Northern Style so flat noodles, numerous green onions, and simple broth is to be expected. I had the #2, which was the traditional option and was very happy with what I ate. Like most pho spots, the service here is extremely quick and I ordered and received my food within 2 minutes. The noodles were soft and the beef was savory. The parking lot had ample parking spots as well which is always a plus!
I don't like this place I LOVE IT. Hearing mixed reviews from my friends and family, I deciced to come and try it, and this place did not disappoint. It's been years since I had a chance to slurp a great great broth like this. I love both ways of southern and northern people making pho, though. Will come back to try more dishes here but I would love to recommend stirfried beef traditional pho with an egg. Mungbean milk is also a must here. ❤ ❤❤❤💖
🇻🇳 VIETNAM (via Eat the World Los Angeles) - Chef Thìn's signature bowl in Hanoi is the simple phở tái lăn truyền thống ($13.99), which does a quick stir-fry of beef, leaving it rare before adding it to the bowl. These thin cuts of meat soak in the garlic they are stir-fried with, and that all transfers to the broth, which is probably more pungent than usual northern bowls with garlic and a bit of ginger.
Update- they have improved the quality of the broth and is now much tastier. Wish they put more veggies in their phở truyền thống. But overall it's a great improvement. Phở broth was tasteless, lacks of flavor, the meat is not tender at all. They need to fly the original owner over to teach the right way to make the broth. Very disappointed ☹️
This place takes me back to my travels in Vietnam. This is northern style Pho restaurant which originated in Hanoi at the 13 Lo Duc location. Everything down to the utensils looks like it was brought over from Vietnam. The portions are a smaller than most southern style Little Saigon Pho restaurants but it was surprisingly filling. Northern style Pho comes with a lot of green onions so if you are not an onion fan, you should tell them to reduce the amount. If you are used to bean sprouts and the usual accompaniments that comes with southern style Pho, you won't get it here unless you request it. If you are adventurous, try it northern style with their homemade chili sauce and pickled garlic slices. It is still their soft opening so a lot of the menu is not available. You won't find any appetizers here either (cha gio, goi cuon, etc). Their only focus is Pho.
I decided to try this with my gf who just recently came back from Vietnam (within a month) and she says it’s the closest tasting pho to the one back home. It tastes different than the usual pho found in the US. Super light broth with pronounced beef broth taste with tons of green veggies and the quality of the meat is tender and fresh in every bite.
**There was a sign by the register that said to check in on Yelp or Google to get a free drink. I didn’t see that until we walked out. Don’t forget to order a side of bagel twists to dip.** This is a well known restaurant in Hanoi. The menu is very simple with one page of 9 choices of pho , 7 sides and 7 drink options. The servers are very quick when they come to your table so study the menu ahead of time and know what to order when you sit down. This place was busy with a clip board outside to put your name. What makes it different? For one, it’s simple and served with wide vermicelli noodles. The broth is beefy with tons of green onions as they’re garnish. For two, you add pickled garlic. They do give you a plate of basal and boiled bean sprouts even though that’s southern style. But honestly, combining the two with the pickled garlic, basil and lime was the best of both worlds. My only complaint would be the small bowl and small portion for the same price that you would get at other pho restaurants. Literally, you finish in like 7 bites. I got the #3 filet mignon which was nothing special. The cut was super thin sliced which is how it should be. My fiancé got the #4 which was stir-fry. They stir fry the meats and put it in the broth after versus putting rare meat in first and pouring the broth over. Overall, it was just how I was first introduced to it at home by my northern friend.
My wife is from northern Vietnam so we are always looking for Northern style pho. Pho Thin delivered, we both thought this was the absolute best pho we have ever had in the USA, and we live in the SF bay area. Highly highly recommend!
1. The broth of the pho was good, and I love the garlic beef! The Vietnamese iced coffee was strong! 2. The spot has fun casual vibes! The interior is big! 3. The staff was friendly and timely with our order! The food was ready within 10 mins! Note: They do accept card transactions! Photo: Pho Thin Special and Vietnamese Iced Coffee
Pho Thin served the best Pho I have had so far in the US. Our friend took us here for breakfast before our early flight. They open really early in the morning (8am) which is similar to many restaurants in Vietnam. There is a parking lot in front of the restaurant and it was almost empty the day we went but it could get crowded during the day. The space inside is not very big but there are still many tables, maybe because it’s early morning. Everything is clean and decorated nicely to give the Vietnamese vibe. This restaurant serves the northern Vietnamese style pho which I normally am not a fan of. However, the way they made the pho noodles, the broth, and the stir-fried beef was so authentic that it tasted better than all other pho places I have tried so far in the US. In overall, it is one of the best restaurants I have tried in CA. Location, hours, price, and food quality are all top-notch that I will definitely come back for more.
Northern Pho style. Broth not sweet definitely my taste. Service was quick and friendly staffs. Wish they had chili oil.
Level up your PHO game in Westminster with PHO THIN. It is a Northern Style Pho that is rich in flavor. DO NOT FORGET their fresh garlic slices.
Absolutely best pho in town. Their pho has more flavor from the North Vietnam which I love. The meat is so tender and it serves with rau ngổ which is rare but it’s authentic. Highly recommended when you’re in town.
This must be the best pho I have ever had. The noddles were fresh and just melt in your mouth. I got the special with the ribs and meatballs and the broth was delicious. 9.5/10 for me.
Great tasting Pho! One of the best Pho place in Bolsa area. Will be back for more.
Have you ever tried Northern style phở before? Well you should because it hits different 😮💨 Phở Thin is a Westminster staple for its delicious, clear but rich Northern beef broth 🍜 This was my first time trying Northern style phở and I actually loved it so much! Usually Southern style (more popular) is very sweet, but I can appreciate being able to eat the entire bowl without feeling heavy after. Broth was soooo clear and light, but you can still smell and taste how fragrant it is. And the noodles, meat, and thinly sliced green onions were perfection 👏 Highly recommend Phở Thin to any phở lovers out there 💛 What we ordered: 1️⃣ Phở Đặc Biệt: garlic beef stir fry, brisket, flank, fatty flank, tendon, meatballs 2️⃣ Phở Sườn Bò Đặc Biệt: big beef rib bone, steak, meatballs
The pho is delicious, and the service is excellent. While the to-go order took a bit of time, it was understandable given how busy they were. The restaurant is clean and offers plenty of parking. Definitely worth a try!
If you like “phở thìn” from Lò Đúc in Hà Nội, then this is the place to go. The stirfry beef flavor is literally identical. The broth is slightly sweeter than the original one from Hà Nội but it’s still 90% the same!!
By far it’s the best pho shop in OC in my opinion due to a couple of things 1. The place is nice and clean 2. The table is not sticky like most other places 3. They have the pickle garlic and jalapeño 4. Surprisingly it’s quite so you can enjoy your food and have a conversation without having to raise your talk to each other 5. Plenty of parking spaces

If you’re looking for real Hanoi-style phở, this is the spot. The broth is rich and savory, with that signature northern flavor — less sweet, more depth. The stir-fried beef gives it a smoky aroma that makes it different from typical phở. Simple but done right. And surprisingly, the milk tea here is very good — smooth, balanced sweetness, not watered down. If you like northern phở, you’ll appreciate this place.
Authentic northern-style pho done right — deep, savory broth, generous cuts of meat, and a cozy, no-frills vibe. I enjoyed my #8 Pho Tai (steak), which had generous portion of meet in my opinion. If you like something more traditional, go for the #2 Pho Suon Bo Dac Biet (rib bones, steak, meatballs). The drinks were just as thoughtful (that smoky milk tea was delish and not too sweet. Phở Thìn in Little Saigon is a must-try when you want real-deal Vietnamese comfort food.

If you’re craving for the Pho in Northern Vietnam style, this would be the place for you. The same owner of the Pho Thin in Lo Duc street, Ha Noi, Vietnam, Mr Nguyen Trong Thin, has brought his recipe here (the male elder with white chef jacket in my picture). A Pho bowl full of onions, scallions, not too flavorful, no basil leaves, no coriander leaves, no beansprouts is expected. Minus points: long wait (expect >30mins wait), a bit expensive compared to its small portion $16 for the special bowl, $14 for the normal bowl, $2 for iced/hot tea), missing “gio chao quay” because the owner has not found a place that sells the exact same style he expected, a small, condensed, crispy “quay” instead of the long, puffy “quay” you usually eat with Chao Long.
Solid Vietnamese Fare at Pho Thin Pho Thin in Westminster is a pleasant spot to experience Vietnamese cuisine. The Pho, while not extraordinary, is decent and provides comforting warmth with every spoonful. The broth is adequately flavored, the noodles are well-cooked, and the beef offers a substantial bite. The menu's variety is impressive, featuring a broad array of Vietnamese classics. Their fresh spring rolls stood out, with crisp vegetables, succulent shrimp, and a tangy dipping sauce that proved to be a delightful contrast. The staff at Pho Thin deserves a special mention. Their hospitality was commendable, being attentive and quick to accommodate requests and provide recommendations. In summary, while the Pho at Pho Thin might not be the best in town, the restaurant offers an overall commendable dining experience. It's a welcoming spot for a casual meal, complete with a friendly staff and a diverse menu.
Tried a new pho place in Westminster, CA yesterday. This place advertised that they cook Northern style pho, so I had to try. My experience is fast service, nice little restaurant, but pho was is a bit bland for my taste. I thought Northern style pho supposed to be flavorful enough that you don't have to add extra stuff but it wasn't that case for me. Still fun to try !
Phở Thìn - Northern Vietnamese Flavors Phở Thìn is a distinctive dish from Northern Vietnam, and I recently had the opportunity to taste it. The clear broth, tender rare beef, and Northern Vietnamese flavors create a delightful experience. The pickled garlic and sour chili add a special touch to the dish. For those who appreciate the flavors of Northern Vietnam, I highly recommend trying Phở Thìn. Phở tái lăn: 3.5/5 Phở tái filet mignon: 4.5/5 Phở tái bằm: 4.5/5
This is a brand new placed that had their grand opening some times in Feb 2023. For a new restaurant, it is always crowded and very popular specially in the Little Saigon area where you can find a restaurant at every corner and a Pho restaurant at every other corner. Maybe it's the "brand name" as well as the well-timing drama related to this brand back in Vietnam exactly at the same time the place opened here. Anyway, the Pho is definitely different from any other Pho restaurant here. I didn't have a chance to try the original Pho in VN so I couldn't compare but this definitely fits my taste and for sure unlike other Pho. Plenty of green onion and the meat prepared and cooked differently. You can't get anything else except Pho and drinks. The place is really clean and well organized. The service was decent. This is not a handicap friendly facility with no ramp for wheelchair.
Love the Pho here. Me and my buddy arrived at 8:10am, but didn’t see any employees. Around 7,8 customers showed up 5mins after us. I heard people talking in the kitchen, and gotta yell out loud but seems like they didn’t hear us. A guy from the kitchen walked out and was surprised to see us. He rushed to take the order meanwhile tried to call around “what time you guys will be here…” Shout out to that man since the food came out super quick and hot. Just 2 mins after the order. I assume it wasn’t his task but he performed 10/10. Waitor and receptionist didn’t show up until 8:15 ish. Anyway, I hope the the owner/manager reads this review cuz this should be 2 stars review instead of 4.
I’m in love with the Phở here. The soup base is very tasty. The price is a little higher compared to other Pho places, but I think it’s worth it since the portion is big. They gave us all the veggies that supposed to come with Pho. Free hot/ice tea. Staff was okay. Restroom is clean and new. Will comeback!
I tried the phở đặc biệt at Phở Thìn and it was a different flavor from the rest of the phở places I've been to. It was definitely a North style phở, with a rich and aromatic broth that was cooked with beef bones and a secret family recipe. The beef was stir-fried before being added to the soup, giving it a smoky and tender texture. The noodles were fresh and chewy, and the toppings were generous. I liked the addition of ginger and green onions, which added some freshness and spice to the dish. The restaurant in Westminster is cozy and clean, with friendly staff and fast service. The price was little higher than other for the quality and quantity of the food. It was a good change from the usual phở places in the area, something to stand out from the rest. I would recommend Phở Thìn to anyone who wants to try a different kind of phở that is authentic and delicious.

I like this spot. North Vietnamese Pho. Good size portion. Place could be cleaned a little better but happy to be going here. Never disappointed with the food
Definitely different flavor and taste than most other Pho places in the Bolsa area. The broth is bold and rich with beef flavor, probably due to the generous amount of fat (Nuoc Beo). Like the original Hanoi branch, they use shredded green onions instead of sliced white onions which is interesting but I do like it. The meat is also very flavorful which is not always the case with many other pho places. Personally, I don't care for Pho broth which is on the sweet side and their broth is a bit on the sweet side. They do use a lot of MSG which also something I don't care for. So I fix this by adding some hot water to the broth to lessen the sweetness and MSG, and then adding back a bit of fish sauce. In any case, I think most people will really like the Pho here.
Great and delicious experience at Pho Thin! Polite and quick service; yummy northern-style pho with garlic beef; cozy ambiance overall. The only flaw is their restroom could be cleaner - its door is really dirty.

Everyone say that Phở Thìn is good. We went for lunch I’ve asked him is it good since his bowl came out first, he said that the broth smelled weird I saw that fat on his bowl and knew why he didn’t like it. I’ve tried to take out all of that fat then it’s just ok. Their phở noodle was fresh and soft, filet mignon I requested to serve aside but the veggies as bean sprouts, basil, jalapeno and specially lemon were not fresh, it’s better to have lime instead of lemon I cooked my own Phở that night and served perfect Phở for my family the next day for lunch I couldn’t add photo of that fatty bowl of Phở, three of us left all the broth and one of us left almost the whole bowl (Just added photo again when editing)
I have been trying to find a good Hanoi style pho and drove by this place. There are a few different types of pho Hanoi. I was interested in more cleared soup based. This was a little on the sweat side for me. They also brought out beansprouts and basil which is not traditionally used in the north VN. We are here in southern Cal so I understand. This tastes similarly to Pho Le in Hanoi which is well known to the locals there. I gave it a 3 because the sweet side, lack of transparency in the soup and didn’t offer Chinese donuts which is part of the northern pho style.

We decided to try this new Pho place out after hearing about it on fb but don't let this new Pho's hype fool you. We came at around 5pm during their soft opening and were lucky to get seated and our food right away because not soon after that there was a surplus of people coming in and the staff was struggling to service them. I noticed the table next to us waited a long time but no one came to take their orders. We even heard yelling and arguing in the kitchen when we started eating and the checkout/payment line grew increasingly long. I understand this is only their soft opening and mistakes happen but it was almost as if they have not done their due diligence in preparing anything at all. Be aware that this is Hanoi's style and not your typical Southern style Pho so you won't find the usual veggies plate (lemon, rau, giá) on your table or a small sauce dish for your dipping sauce. It would be nice if this was clearly stated on their menu or somewhere in the restaurant since I'm sure there might be foreigners or American born Vietnamese who are not aware of the history behind Pho Thin. The Pho itself to me wasn't as great as I thought it would be. The broth isn't bad but not as rich and flavorful as other Pho places in Orange County that I'm used to. Overall we were not impressed with the Pho or the service. I don't think I would visit again until they have their act together.
Coming in, I had high expectations, and while the service was fast, the servers were friendly and the place was clean, I was truly disappointed by the food. For a place that only sells pho, it was very underwhelming. Visually it looks great, but the thick pho noodles were soft and mushy, the meat, filet mignon, was very over-cooked and the broth was flavorless. There’s more places that taste more authentic for cheaper, especially in this area.
I recently had lunch at this restaurant and had a mixed experience. The pho here is undeniably delicious, with a rich and flavorful broth, tender meat, and fresh herbs. However, I was disappointed by the service. The service was lacking. The staff seemed disinterested and inattentive, making us feel neglected.
Coming in, I had a high expectations. This guy is really worse. Bad service. My family have 11 people. He did not serve water. Even though we asked 3 times. He finally brought only 1 glass of water for 11 people. We asked again for the fourth time and he only brought 3 more glasses of water. That is only 4 glasses of water for 11 people. He very rude to us. He glanced at us and looked down on us. I hope his Boss can see my review.
