Everything was incredible! The torta was the best I've ever had. The poblano soup was the best I've ever had. The pepino margarita was phenomenal. Martin was such a thoughtful and wonderful server. I CANNOT wait to go again.
Absolutely fantastic restaurant. The atmosphere is cozy, colorful, and welcoming. The food is absolutely delicious. We had the elotito and papa brava and they were both amazing, and we could've had just more of that and been satisfied. we then ordered the veggie tacos and the carnitas tacos. The veggie tacos were flavorful and colorful, and the carnitas were done well and flavorful as well. The food presentation and the flavors matches 10/10. I will be back and will recommend this to friends and family.
We had an awesome experience here. It was our first time and we wanted to try everything. Our waiter recommended some entrees and they did not disappoint. We shared two appetizers among 3 of us and we had two entrees. The mesh of different flavors is what makes their food delicious. The restaurant was decorated nicely and located in downtown Wheaton. We can't wait to go back.
FOOD AND SERVICE ARE WONDERFUL! I brought my mom and grandmother to downtown Wheaton for dinner and the manager was at the door greeting people so we decided, let’s give this place a try! I am so glad we did, the food was incredible, the drinks were delicious and the staff and service is what really did it for us. The manager, the owner and the whole crew were attentive to every single table. They were happy and just in their groove tending tables. It was a very pleasant atmosphere. I can’t wait to go back!
Started out with the seasonal guac, amazing! We had some tacos which were so awesome! Ill let the pictures say the rest. Everything is amazing here and I highly highly recommend. The outdoor seating is under a huge tent with music. Absolutely perfect 🤩
Loved the food! The best of our order was the Al Alambre with skirt steak and chorizo, so good! The papa brava was good but a lot of mayo. We also got garlic shrimp tacos and salmon tacos (not pictured). Both were good but we liked the shrimp tacos better.
Excellent atmosphere and very clean. The food presentation was beautiful. Staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. Tacos and tapas came in sets of 4. For 2 people I recommend 3 dishes (app+two dishes or 3 dishes). Eating these were very messy but delicious. Al Vegetal had a great spice to it and the Al Pablano was a great smooth chaser. Tapas are served with the tortillas on the side. Slightly more on the pricey side but very nice experience.
Great service, drinks were delicious. We shared a side, 1 taco plate and 1 tapas and it was perfect for 2 people. Food had great flavor, slightly bougie (ha) but I'd definitely go back and recommend to others! Fun date night or girls night!
You can tell they pay attention to detail and the food is delicious! I loved their guacamole and the Tacos, let's just say, FLAVOR! And their AL Tiro beer, wow! The best! Next date, night is here!
Wonderful spot — great guacamole, tilapia tacos, service! Everything was so fresh!
This place rocks. Food, atmosphere and service are top notch. Glad we have it in our hometown. They have events going on, like salsa dance classes and other fun activities. This is a place the wife and I will be visiting regularly. Highly recommended.
Best fusion tacos in the Chicago land area. The service was 10/10. The people were nice and friendly, and the tacos tasted super fresh and delicious. Over all 5 stars!!
Absolutely delicious food! The cocktails were amazing! I had the mojito with coconut and shared the elotito, al tostada, and few other tapas which were perfect to split amongst 4 people.
Very nice clean place with delicious food
Everything we had here was fantastic. The food was delicious. The service beyond reproach. Very attentive to our needs without being intrusive or pushy. Love the atmosphere. Would definitely return.
I loved everything about this place. Food, atmosphere, music, seats and drinks! Wait staff was attentive and fast. Couldn't have been a better first impression for me.
Great food and presentation. Creative drink menu and contemporary Latin atmosphere.
Great friendly staff , Gabriel and Rafael made us feel very welcome. Good service and great food. I had the ravoli which was wonderful and the drinks were delish. Different flare on the drinks. Will frequent this place again.
This is a cute, swanky, modern-latin themed restaurant with great options. I absolutely love the 2 spicy drinks they have on the menu, Al Verde and Al Chulo. There is a server there who is ALWAYS working and he is always smiling, always so kind, and super knowledgeable of the food, the drinks, and the spirits. Altiro is my favorite spot in downtown Wheaton to grab a bite with friends and and family.
Upscale, low key. Love the delicious food, amazing drinks and chill atmosphere. You have to come and check this place out.
This establishment represents an exemplary Latin Fusion restaurant located in the suburbs. The culinary offerings are of exceptional quality, complemented by impeccable service. Additionally, the ambiance of the restaurant is both inviting and charming.
Best tacos around. Best margaritas around. Incredible service by Martin - great recommendation on the Cameleon Tacos.
My all time favorite restaurant! Food is always outstanding, consistent, and delicious. Will recommend this restaurant to everyone I know. If you are trying to impress out of town visitors, take them here and they will not be disappointed. 10/10!!!
Delicious food & comfy atmosphere! Definitely try the Ala Poblana Soup and the Ala Paella!
Beautifully decorated restaurant with good ambience, excellent service, and delicious food and drinks
Local resident, and I have sampled lots of downtown spots. This was one of THE BEST meals I’ve ever had. Everything we had was sooooo good. All the different flavors and combos. I wanted to order the whole menu after we ate what we ordered. (I ordered some tacos to go they were that good!). It was so good we went back for another date night two weeks later!! Cocktails are great. The food is amazing. Don’t think twice and come here!!!
Our server was wonderful, and the food was incredible!!
Excellent Latin fusion food with delicious options to choose from. Loved the vibe inside and music which definitely makes you feel like you transformed into a Latin location across the world if you can fully immerse yourself in the experience. Service is exceptional and meaningful. Desserts are delicious and drinks are well made. So many different options of tacos that are freshly made and so tasty. We keep coming back as it’s so good.
It’s 60 degrees in February so decided to take a bike ride for a late lunch. Stopped here and it was amazing. Martin was so kind and made our experience more enjoyable. You will not be disappointed. You have to try this place. P.S. try the spicy margaritas! Yum!
Everything was fantastic! Highly recommend a margarita (or two) - they are so fresh you’ll be looking around the restaurant for a citrus tree! Martin provided great menu recommendations and excellent service. It definitely felt like a tropical escape in the middle of winter. Go and enjoy! You’ll be happy you did!
This place is excellent! The drinks are fresh and perfectly balanced. The papas bravas are incredible. And we LOVED the poblano chicken. Atmosphere is great too.
Each dish we had was enjoyed. The tapas our waiter suggested were great (trio guacamole, elote and potatoes). Next time I will try the tortilla soup. The churros dessert was definitely special.
Love Altiro! Been here for brunch, lunch, and date night. Each time was delicious, and there’s always great music. The poblano soup is delicious and their tacos are my favorite of all the local places.
Excellent food here. The Al Cuaresmeño soup is truly excellent. Love the cocktails, they use fresh squeezed juice so that makes everything 100% better. Good staff, good atmosphere. We go to Altiro regularly to sit at the bar, have a cocktail and eat small plates.
Absolutely phenomenal experience. The food was bursting with rich, layered flavors—and to my delight, everything I had was completely gluten-free and lactose-free without compromising taste in the slightest. The ambiance was warm, elegant, and thoughtfully curated, making the entire meal feel like an occasion. The staff was equally impressive—respectful, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. A perfect balance of taste, atmosphere, and service. Can’t wait to return.
Altiro, this place has the a great atmosphere and incredible service. We got the trio salsa and every salsa tasted great. The soup that we got with our tacos tasted amazing.
Overall we had a great dinner. Some things were really good, some things were just okay, and some dishes were not so good. I would say to pass on the chicken tapas dish. The elotes and papas bravas were delicious!
This is a solid place. The potatoes are really tasty. We also got the salmon tacos which were very good. The tilapia tacos were not quite as good but I would get them again. We ended with the churros which were good but not great. Can't wait to return to try some if the other dishes!
Outstanding ambience. Great food. Wasn't too crazy about the drinks.
Altiro Latin Fusion in Wheaton offered a memorable experience with its bold flavors and lively ambiance, perfect for a special occasion. I ordered the red chilaquiles, and my wife opted for the green version, both brimming with potential. My in-laws indulged in the signature Aurora Wheaton and Geneva breakfast plates, and while they were satisfied with the flavors, our experience was somewhat tempered by a few missed details. Despite our explicit requests, none of our customizations were honored. My red chilaquiles arrived without the requested beef, my father-in-law’s extra chorizo was MIA yet still charged, and my mother-in-law—who requested no chorizo due to health concerns—found hers unexpectedly laden with it. Our server could certainly benefit from a sharper ear for details, especially with requests as specific as ours. On the positive side, the atmosphere shone; the restaurant radiates a sophisticated blend of modern and traditional Latin decor that really captures the essence of the experience. The coffee, crafted à la olla, was exceptional and showcased their commitment to authenticity. We’re open to giving Altiro another shot, especially for its unique vibe and quality ingredients. But next time, we’ll keep a closer eye on those specialty requests.
It's a spacious restaurant with a second floor. Nice atmosphere with awsome drinks and good food. It's worth trying it.
Delicious foods but you need to order more than you think as the shareable plates are quite light. Mocktails were fantastic!
My first time at the Wheaton location but second time visiting Altiro Latin Fusion! The inside is just gorgeous. It’s bright, vibrant, and filled with plants and greenery. I love that they can make any of their cocktails N/A. The variety of tacos is robust and contain lots of fresh flavors. My personal favorite is the ala barbocoa. Great option for dinner!
Loved the trio guacamole's. Chips are home made and tacos are good. Service challenges -was a very busy night with a festival - service took quite a while and we had to go find someone to get drinks..then a manager stepped in and more than made up for it. Apologized - free drinks and new server fixed it quickly. Then good service and good food. Greet location with the street closed and several restaurants open. Will repeat. Authentic taste and feel.
Very eclectic furnishings. Plants (fake) needs a good cleaning. Service slow even though not busy. Pricey. The fish tacos were good, tapas sized. Don’t know if I’ll be back. No bang for the buck.
Disappointing food, drinks, and service. We arrived for afternoon cocktails and a small bite to eat around 2:45pm on a Sunday. The drinks were one-note and disappointing, especially for $15 each. Although we were the only customers in the restaurant, our server was pushy by encouraging us to order before we had time to look over the menu. When we would ask for some more time, we would barely get 3 minutes before being asked if we were ready again. The food was similar to the drinks; uninspired, lacking depth, and poorly presented. The tostadas were sloppily thrown together with worse plating than a mall food-court. When paying these prices in an empty restaurant, I would expect a modicum of care to be put into the preparation and presentation of the food and drinks but that expectation is apparently unrealistic. I’d encourage anyone in the area to visit one of the other restaurants on Hale Street where they will likely spend less money for a better experience.
Unfortunately I had to come leave a review because we had a bittersweet experience. The service was great, our waitress was very attentive and apologetic. Although the food was great, it was strange that we were denied a couple dishes due to not having them available at the time, as the waitress specified. First we asked for the Barbacoa, was not available. We then asked for A la Tostada also not available. It’s bizarre coming to a restaurant and being denied two dishes. They say they craft their own beer but yet it wasn’t available? Very disappointing.
My wife and a have an affinity for Latin food and we enjoy trying new places in our never ending search for great food. We definitely have no problem paying a premium for good food and service..So.. We decided to give this place a try yesterday and though we really wanted to like this place. When we got out to our car we both agreed we wouldn't go back. The service was fast and our server friendly.. Food came out in under 10 minutes. But that's not really saying much as there were only two other tables with patrons. Atmosphere was nice.. Great location... But the food was underwhelming and very pricey for what we were served. Since tacos are pretty much all that's on the menu... Thats what we got. The tacos were tiny...As in the smallest tacos we've ever had. My food had a very distinctive moldy flavor to it. I couldn't convince my wife to try the tacos I had. But they definitely tasted "off". My wife did however enjoy her meal but also felt like the portions were very small for what the cost was. All in all I I don't see this place lasting unless they make changes to their menu, portions and or pricing. Our meal was $60(With $10 tip) for 8 very tiny tacos and a Margarita.
Most bizarre restaurant experience I have ever had. We arrived at 4:15 today. Asked the waiter what margaritas were included in the 1/2 price Happy Hour and he listed them and we ordered them. Then we asked what tacos are included in the Happy Hour 1/2 price and he listed them and we ordered. He then told us at 5 pm that Happy Hour was over. We got the bill and he discounted the margaritas a bit but not 1/2 price and charged us full price for the tacos. I then mentioned that he told us that the drinks and tacos were on happy hour and then he said that they were not. I told him that we specifically asked which drinks and tacos were included on the happy hour menu. He continued to deny it all. I showed him the card on each table which explained the happy hour deal and he said the cards were wrong. I asked to speak to the manager and he said HE WAS THE MANAGER. We then asked the other waitstaff there and she said he was NOT THE MANAGER. The waiter then came over with a cell phone and has me talk to either the manager or the owner. I felt like I was being scolded or trying to pull something over on them when speaking on someone else’s phone. The man on the phone did agree to discount those items but made me feel like it was our fault. Will NEVER return! Wow! The waiter never apologized or took any responsibility. I did send a message to the restaurant via Facebook and they did respond and said the owner would call but he/she never did. My friend who works in the area spoke to a few of her coworkers and they said they had the same experience with the happy hour prices not being honored.
Unfortunately had a subpar experience and food. As a server of 11+yrs, it takes a lot for me to be negative towards any kind of restaurant or food spot. First, we were sat in a crowded corner, when the entire restaurant was open(it’s only 2of us). We ordered the guac and chips appetizer, requested it to be traditional, since the menu offered traditional or with seasonal fruit. Our request was met with “the only way we make it is with the fruit”. That was fine. The guacamole was bland with minimal “seasonal fruit” of pomegranate seeds , pineapple and cojota cheese. We then ordered the carnitas tacos(pork) and Ala Gallina tacos (chicken) . The carnitas were lukewarm and tasted like bad pork. I will be grateful if we don’t get sick from the little we did try. The chicken was cooked through and the only saving grace was the sauce it was tossed in. Mind you our food took 12minutes from ordering to table - which typically would be exciting news, except it came it uncooked/funky food. At the end when we asked for our check, the server sees the uneaten tacos and asked if they were good. We said no and went our way. We were hopeful for this spot, but I believe it to be an overpriced and low low quality … if anyone is looking for good tacos go to Los Comales in Lombard!
