This is the last Arthur Treacher's in the country. I drove an hour to get there. It was fantastic, and the chicken, fries, and hush puppy's were just like I remembered. If you have a chance to go their you won't be sorry.
My son and I were out thrifting in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. We went to several shops in the Akron, Stowe, and the Falls area and worked up an appetite! As I drove, my son asked "what Arthur Treachers was." My ears perked up because I had a sudden blast from the past. No way was there an Arthur Treachers still in existence! However. I turned to see what he was looking at and there it was!! The LAST freestanding store left!!!!!!! I immediately whipped into the drive thru and my son was like what are you doing??? I told him that as a young girl growing up in Chicago Arthur Treachers was hands down the best fish anywhere! We only ordered one 2 piece Dinner with "chips"and hush puppies at this place so my son could experience it. OMG. Christian and Cameron served us and I was impressed with these two men before even talking to them. 2 very well kept gentlemen who obviously took great pride in what they do!!!! We got our food...... Let me just say it took me back to the 70's . We were so impressed with our food that my son insisted on going through the line again for some more food and to let the guys working there know about our 5 star experience!!!! They were so happy for the compliments and actually asked to film us on his phone to show the powers that be. They were the most polite and well mannered young men! Unfortunately in this crazy world I don't experience that very often as a 62 year old female. Sorry about the length of my review but the thought of this going away forever breaks my heart Please go try this establishment and maybe we can ensure we don't lose this hidden gem!!!!!
Just like I remeber from the late 70s and 80s when my parents took me there as a kid, and later in life when the one in south Akron on Arlington was still there. Everything was fresh and cooked just right, the fish was flakey and crispy, the hushpuppies and fries both crispy on the outside soft inside. The service was also quick. If you v forced me to find fault with anything perhaps the batter has a little less flavor then i remeber. And the parking lot pavement is a little rough. Glad this Cuy Falls location is still here!
Food was a little overcooked, but good and really crunchy, as a walk in customer with no one in front of me,and only 3 other couples seated in the dining area, I figured on faster service....for 1 pm on a Sunday. But apparently they had several "to go" orders ahead of me......so, I patiently waited instead of getting upset...(15-20 minutes at the counter.....
It was busy but the line moved fast and the food was piping hot . The bathroom was very clean. The building could be remodeled but it's kept clean.
The fish is as good as you remember it. The hushpuppies melt in your mouth and the shrimp and clams can't be beat. This location is being remodeled so some of the nostalgia is gone but I am excited to see the finished product when jt has been completed
The Bad: The chicken was very meh. But go across the street to KFC if you want chicken. The Good: The cole slaw was tasty with a touch of horseradish bite. The fish and chips were hot and fresh. Very meaty, yet flaky fish. Large, thick cut chips. Great for sopping up the malt vinegar. The staff was friendly and the facilities were clean. Well worth the stop while in town from Texas.
Came the other day but Man.. I've been thinking about those fish n chips ever since.. This place is criminally underrated... I'm mind blown that this place doesn't have a line around the block every single day... Perfectly light and fried and crisp on every corner.. Better than Long Johns and better fish than Red Lobster! And even taste FRESHER! Wonderful Job! Will be back! You guys gotta try this place!! Seriously!!
Fish was excellent! As good as I had when I was visiting London. I also recommend the shrimp and chicken sandwich. Service was efficient and friendly. Definitely would go back again!
Wow, just like I remember. Portion size, high quality and taste like no other. French fries are amazing and prices are reasonable. Not the greasy taste like other QSR's.
Great deep-fried fish. The best I have had in Akron period. Helpful staff, and a good clean area to eat. Five stars for theses hard working folks. Well done all.
One of the last remnants of this fast food chain. Their 2 piece cod with 2 hush puppies and chips (thick cut fries) is a great value option at $9.99. Drinks are extra but not by much. My fish was a tad bit try but still worth it. Hope this location holds out.
Was really disappointed when we got home to say the least. We haven't been here for about about 8 months, but this definitely did NOT look like it did the last time. The fish was good, and tasted fine but I have zero clue what they did to the fries. Did they change product or does someone just not care what they're serving?? Definitely doesn't look like their fries, and was basically a pile of soggy greasy mess. These meals aren't cheap, so to get home and see this...was not happy. I've always been a fan of this restaurant but this has me second guessing spending $$$ here. UPDATE: Visited again today 5/11 and it was really good. Everything was fresh and the fries looked nothing like they did the last time we were there! Fish was excellent and the hush puppies were on point, soo happy!
This location is one of only 2 left in the entire United States. I cannot believe because the food was absolutely spectacular. The fish was fresh, hot and crispy. Unlike other places, I will drive back, you're in a heartbeat. I drove over an hour out of my way to eat here and it was worth every minute.
45 years ago. At the age of 15 I got my first job at Arthur Treachers fish and chips. Here it is 45 years later and I am eating at the last original Arthur teacher's fish and chips in the United States. I drove from Delaware just to eat here and was thoroughly exuberant with my experience. It was like stepping back in time to my childhood. The food was exactly as I remembered except for a couple of small items but close enough for government work. The owner came to my table and we had a long discussion about the glory days of Arthur Treachers. He was so nice and I felt right at home. I recommend anyone who has memories of Arthur Treachers to come here and eat. I also recommend that anyone who has never tried their fish to stop by and give it a shot. I also highly recommend the chicken sandwich with coleslaw and Russian dressing. I could not have been more pleased with my trip.
This is my first time at this location. For those who are interested, you should know that this location is the last free-standing Arthur Treacher's in America! If you're like me and you grew up with Arthur Treacher's then you must check this place out. The restaurant is clean and the food was great! I even had the chance to speak with the owner and learn a little history about the restaurant. He's wondering when it if he's going to retire but I hope he stays around. If you're looking for Nostalgia and some good ol fashioned tasty fish and chips then you have to go here.
The best thing I ever got at a Wendy’s location was Arthur Treacher ‘s. Over a decade ago Arthur Treacher‘s moved into an old Wendy’s location in Cuyahoga Falls Ohio and they’re still going strong. One of only two locations that I know of locally walking into the restaurants like going back in time. Their fish taste like it’s 1972 but fresh their french fries are perfectly crispy And their hush puppies are “hush puppies” In all their breaded goodness.

One of the very last Arthur Treacher's in the world, this place is a kind of nostalgic throwback to better times when fish and chips places were just about everywhere. Pretty decent, although kind of small pieces, freshly fried with chips and hush puppies. The fish was good, the fries were good and the hush puppies were good. No table service and it took a while to get my meal, but it was worth it in the end. Prices are about in line with other fish places, although the pieces seem a little smaller than others.
Food was better than we remembered. Will purchase again. One problem, I ordered Cole slaw but did not get it. Oh Well

I am from Michigan and use to love Arthur Treachers. There are none left in our state. When I found out that there was 8n the area I was in I had to try it. The service was good but the food was not like I remembered. I told my Brother who use to love it as well so I will return with him to see what he thinks.

I got shorted my hush puppies with my order my wife went back to get them with receipts the manager was very rude and threw them at her and told her to leave 11/1/24 6pm
I KNEW It was too good to be true and I went there anyway. thinking that It would taste like it did Way back in the day. Maybe if I had went in I would have gotten hot freshly cooked food but I went through the drive-thru, ordered a combo of Fish and Chicken. Chicken was dry and chewy and fish was called and greasy. The only thing good was the hush puppies
