I've eaten at Ocha Classic 1 more than a few times not only at this location on Vermont. At their other two other locations. I have yet to encounter an issue with either the food or the service. Plus, I take my orders to go. Everyone’s experience is unique and individualized. Besides, someone will always find something to complain about or find unsatisfying.
Cleave been coming here from ventura California, worth the drive the food is always so Damm good!! Good food and customer service always!! Im 37 years old and been coming here since I was 3 lol yummmmmmm
I had the wonton soup with the shrimp fried rice, crab fried rice, the garlic shrimp with spring rolls. Everything was so delicious seasoned to perfection and the service was amazing. I will definitely go back again.
As someone who visits family in LA often from New York, Ocha is one of the spots I can never miss! Their 7 Seafood Soup is incredible, rich, flavorful, and comforting, and their egg rolls are always delicious. The staff are attentive, and while the wait time can be on the longer side, they manage seating efficiently. Parking is located behind the building, and the valet attendants are always helpful and quick. I love coming back here every time I’m in LA for a warm, satisfying bowl of soup. Definitely recommend!
Still the best. Been coming here with my family since I was still in the womb. I love this place, my wife loves this place, and it will always be family tradition to come here at least once a month if possible. In my opinion, this place has the best shrimp fried rice, the best seafood soup, the best chow mein, and the best Thai tea. No place can replace Ocha classic, and especially this location. Catch me in line, say hi. I'm always here.
A late-night Thai spot that has been reliable every time I’ve gone. The pad see ew is rich and smoky, and their portions are generous. It’s open late, which makes it a lifesaver after a night out. The place isn’t fancy, but the food more than makes up for it. Prices are super affordable, especially for LA
I've been coming to this spot since I was a kid, and the food always tastes just right. They bring out the food swiftly. The seafood soup with white rice is BOMB. Expect to make a line in the evening but it's so worth it. I will say parking has gotten more expensive in the alley behind the restaurant. Ocha is a must try if you're in the area.
One of my FAVORITE places to eat ever since I was a little girl and almost 33 years later it's still open and the taste is the same since the first time I eat here!! 02/04/22 Just a head's up they are asking for your Vaccination card before you can be seated, so make you have it! Enjoy the food is amazing!!
Food is Excellent and Portions are Good size! Family dinning experience. BEWARE: Most meals do not come with soup or salad. They are very famous for their soup, but you will need to order it separately, it does not come with most meals. Best to go with larger groups and everyone get one thing and it should be a good portion and variety for all. Prices are reasonable but again I stress the fact that if you order and entree, that is all you get. If you go alone or with another person, they have some combination options that may be best fit. •Waiters and waitresses wear street clothes. •This place is highly reviewed and highly rated. I have only been 1 time. I imagine the hype is around the quality food, the family dinning experience, and the relatively low cost of total meal for the Downtown LA area. •Positive environment inside the restaurant. Environment outside of the restaurant is not the nicest side of town. •Parking is terrible. If you come on a weekend, save yourself time and find free street parking and walk to the restaurant or get a Lyft from wherever you are coming from.
This place has very good food if you like orange chicken and crispy make sure you request crispy. They are pretty fast and making your food. Love the chow mein with shrimp. And the seafood soup
It was okay. Food is always good here. But the service although fast at times can feel like they are being pushy and trying to rush you out the door.
I haven’t been here in a very long time. I think the last time I was here was before COVID. The other side of the restaurant is being remodeled, so I went to the right side of the restaurant and it was very crowded for a Thursday night. Prices have gone up a lot. $8 for a large Thai tea but it’s the best that I’ve tasted with the right amount of tea, crème, and sugar. I will say that the food is kind of oily this time around. All the customers were Latinos, they must love Thai food! It can be difficult to find parking.
The food is VERY GOOD. Sometimes the rice can be a little dry. They are renovating the other half of the restaurant so there is limited seating for now. The service was very quick. They tend to rush you so they can seat the next customers. Extra fish, served on a small plate, is $6. Extra shrimp, is about $1.08 each shrimp for the seafood soup.
PAD-SEE-EW LA LA! Ocha Classic has to have some of the most tasty Pad see ew ever, the rice noodles are perfect and the tofu is crispy with a hint of fried egg inside! I also recommend getting a tasty Thai iced tea and the glass noodles with a side of beef, they're scrumptious. The establishment has a classic ambiance and is right in the heart of LA so you get to see the hustle and bustle charm of the city as you eat! The restaurant itself is actually pretty laid back, the clientele were easygoing and I'm so glad there wasn't any screaming kids, it's totally my style! I wish I could say the staff are the same, however they're quite blunt, bitter and not very attentive. I walk in and the first thing I see is a notice of a ten percent charge which is applied to final bill just for sitting in-house! Um no! Good thing the food tasted good!
i ordered to go, i paid 83.25 . i used to come here as a kid and enjoyed it very much. I order my regular soup shrimp spicy, and other noodles. Everything was garbage and on top of that the shrimp was straight RAW. i didn’t order ceviche bruh. i immediately threw it away and felt disgusted and disappointed. all i ate was rice sadly with the dry chicken. I learned that this establishment has gone downhill horrendously. Sadly I will never be coming back here… raw seafood is just so bad. Here i thought was ordering top notch food just to get bamboozled. No Thanks!!
Be so serious right now. If you love waiting forever, paying too much, and eating food with zero flavor, this place is for YOU. Because why was the food bland like it was scared of seasoning?? First of all… the location? Jail. Second of all, the staff had an attitude for no reason—like sorry I asked for TWO menus for our table?? My bad?? The restaurant was dirty, loud, packed, and giving cafeteria during a fire drill. No vibe. No ambiance. Just chaos. Anyway… save your coins. This is a never again, a don’t recommend, a hard pass.
If I could give this place a 0 I would . I have came here multiple times always cash tip but today they charged me tip on my card without letting me know they should let people know that tip is already included. Unacceptable to hand me a $160 check and then unexpectedly get charged $196.
I decided to come and try this place out and I was very unsatisfied with the soup because I have rotten shrimp and old cilantro on it. What got me more disgusted was that I didn't realize it was graded a C when they did the inspection for the restaurant. I will not be coming here ever again and the line is so long for some rotten food. I added a review a while ago but it seems like they deleted, so I am writing it again.
⭐ One-Star Review for Ocha Extremely disappointed with my recent visit to Ocha. I was served the wrong entrée and when I politely brought it up, the staff insisted that it was what I ordered—despite it clearly not being the case. Being lied to instead of receiving simple accountability was frustrating enough, but it didn’t stop there. The food quality has noticeably gone downhill—greasy, bland, and nowhere near the freshness it used to have. To make matters worse, prices have become outrageous, with a single dish now costing over $30. For that price, I expect both quality and honesty, and Ocha delivered neither. Won’t be returning.
