Popped in here on impulse. Good menu selection, impeccable service from waitress and bar staff. Food was excellent! What more can I say? All my taste buds were tingling over the food and the drinks. Well done and will come again.
Another great visit to The Cricketers tonight! The food was amazing (as usual) and notable mentions must also go to the fantastic staff: the very polite young man who greeted us and showed us to our table, our friendly & helpful waitress with the nose ring who took our order and helped with my wife’s allergen requirements and finally to big beardy guy who served our food and also to extra care to double check allergens before serving our deserts. Wonderful experience. Thank you!
My friends and I went for a meal at the weekend. The pub is lovely. Full of Knick knacks and historical pictures. The landlord is a lovely man, very attentive and cheerful. Made you feel at home immediately. We had a bit of a wait so had some olives and hummus, to tide us over. When it arrived it was definitely worth the wait. The food was out of this world. We all had the chicken and were not disappointed. The spinach sauce was sublime. I finished off with a crème brûlée. Again it was delicious. Will definitely be back. I didn’t take a photo of the food but took one of the view of the windmill, from out the back.
I attended a 60th birthday celebrations with a large group of people yesterday. We had our own room which was perfect and the quality of food and service was spot on. The chicken breast was really tasty as well as the nachos plus the staff were happy to bring out the birthday cake. Great day.
The Cricketers Inn in Meopham is a charming village pub that blends character, comfort, and quality in all the right ways. From the moment you step inside, the warm, rustic atmosphere sets the tone—wood beams, a cosy layout, and a friendly welcome from staff who make you feel like a regular. The menu offers a strong mix of pub favourites and refined dishes, all clearly made with care. Food arrives well-presented and flavourful, with generous portions that still feel thoughtfully prepared. The drinks selection is impressive, with well-kept ales and a solid range of wines and spirits. Service is attentive without being intrusive, and the pacing of the meal is just right, even during busy times. Whether you’re stopping in for a casual pint, a family meal, or a Sunday roast, the pub has a relaxed charm that makes it easy to settle in. Overall, The Cricketers Inn delivers a consistently enjoyable experience—warm, polished, and reliably satisfying.
If I could give ten stars for food and service I would! The pub was busy but service was incredibly good and fast. The food was incredibly good. Plenty of choice on a Sunday and not just roasts. Landlord was present and so hospitable. Elysia served us and and brilliant - no idea why we’ve never been before but will be back in a heartbeat! Thank you so great food, amazing service and a lovely atmosphere for lunch ❤️
Visited for the first time this weekend with 5 friends and my 2 year old daughter, and left feeling very impressed with the food, the staff and the atmosphere. The pub is warm and inviting, the food was superb and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. There is a large car park for our convenience and the surroundings are charming. Thank you for a wonderful time, see you again soon.
We visited for my mum’s birthday, from the moment we stepped in the pub the service was excellent and that continued through to the moment we left. The landlord is so warm and friendly he gave my mum a gift when hearing it was her birthday. All of the team were excellent and I would 100% recommend a visit. Food was delicious. Thank you again for such a lovely visit, we will be back!!
Rang up at the last minute 1.30 on Friday lunchtime without much hope that they could fit 8 people in 2 weeks before Christmas - they couldn't have been more helpful. We had a lovely lunch, the landlord and all the staff were amazing and the food was excellent.
Our first visit to this lovely inn, we were very impressed with the service, relaxed in the spacious dining area & the food was absolutely superb. We were also very pleasantly surprised with the very reasonable prices. The big bonus was that our dogs are welcomed too. We will definitely be back!
Came here with the Husband and Dog on a Sunny Sunday afternoon. We were booked in to the dog friendly library area but opted to sit outside since the sun was out. We shared nachos for starters. He had cod and chips and I had the beef ciabatta. Can't fault the food. The staff were all very attentive. In particular what I can only assume was either the manager or owner (South African accent I think??) was going around interacting with everybody and made it feel really welcoming and friendly. He was super friendly and funny and certainly stood out to us. Thank you, we'll be back!
Great pub for food (and drinks of course). Very well presented and decorated. We couldn't make a booking over the phone, but tried our luck after a walk in the area. Fortunately they managed to accommodate us. It was absolutely packed. All four of us loved the food ordered. There's a nice wine cellar upstairs opposite the toilets, that can be seen by visitors. Also super well made framed caricatures on wine drinking, all over the walls of male toilets. I guess in the ladies too. Anyway, nice and friendly place, great food and atmosphere.
Came here with friends for lunch. You need to book a table, it's busy. Food was hot, tasty and plenty of it, you certainly get value for money. We didn't have to wait too long for food to arrive after ordering. Customer service was reasonable, but we were left waiting for service a couple of times, although they were busy. Arrived early to find carpark already full. Manager came to see we were satisfied and to make recommendations. Service charge was added to bill automatically.
We always enjoy meeting our friends here who live locally. Never been disappointed. Food perfectly cooked and well presented. Service excellent. Also enjoyed a beautiful bottle of their French red wine.
Good level of parking at the restaurant with good access. We were greeted by good atmosphere as soon as we walked in. There was a nice clean feel when looking around and was sat down to our table quickly, we did book ahead as it was a Saturday night but there was still enough seating available. There was lots of seating indoors as well as outdoors. Food portions were good and tasted nice, it looked like the menu had been updated and printed daily which was different to what I had seen before. Overall nice experience and wasn’t a bad price for the two of us having three courses. I would highly recommend the chilli nachos as starter!
Polite staff, very clean inside. Wine was lush and the food was amazing! Very generous portions. Definitely coming back!
Fantastic pub.... beautiful atmosphere, amazing food, brilliant service, really lovely attentive, friendly staff....vegan fish and chips a must....stand out home cooked food....very impressive overall...will be back for sure and highly recommend!!!
Highly recommended. Lovely Sunday afternoon experience. The Big Mixed Roast was no lie. Absolutely chuffed.
We all enjoyed the Christmas menu and it great with exceptional service.
Had a super father's day meal out here in the Cricketers Inn today - excellent choice of food from a special set menu for the day and great service - Would highly recommend!!
Great food, great beer, great staff. I would recommend.
Cosy pub overlooking the green. You can watch cricket being played in the summer. Food is amazing and large portions. Dogs allowed in the bar area. Service can be slightly slow but I am comparing that to London life! Pictured here is the Chorizo Scotch Egg and Bangers & Mash. Didn't have room for desert!
Had an absolutely wonderful meal out here. The food was delicious, a massive thank you to Grace for providing amazing service !
Well with a visit. Very clean and tidy, real fires in the cooler months. Food was great. Felt like the place was very well cared for. One of the best views from the gents I've ever experienced.
Came for the Thursday curry night, food was tasty and the kingfisher was great. Service really good as well
Really bustling village pub. Nut roast was great. Staff are friendly and know what they're doing. A nice little find, we'll be back.
Fantastic staff and amazing food. Really lovely atmosphere and the tables are at a comfortable distance.
A hidden gem ! Great historical place, classic pub with great interior features. Has a impresive beer garden with lots of nooks and crannies for privacy. Well worth visit !
One of the best Sunday Roasts we've had in the last few years. Everything about the whole experience was great, the food, the service and the restaurant were all top rate. Thank you, we will be back.
A festive meal with our friends on a busy Friday evening. A lively atmosphere all round. Our table was delayed no doubt due to the popularity of the place - no matter, the bar service was good while we waited. We were in no hurry. The Christmas menu was very good. The food was very good, backed up by pleasant and attentive service. I enjoyed an excellent vegetarian Christmas meal. Cheers.
An excellent establishment , excellent service and food, friendly welcoming staff. Great live music at the weekend's. Check venue for details on live music.
Amazing place come here regularly, lovely food and great staff
I enjoy the food here, it's not pretentious and is a good quality. The venue itself is fine and offers several areas to sit. One of the best things about the place is the staff. They all seem happy to work here and it gives the place a great vibe. Not sure if I mentioned that I love apple crumble. The crumble here is similar to my mother's. As she is no longer with us (aka dead) Then this is my go to Crumble place.
My partner and I visited today at lunchtime and had a fantastic experience. The service was top-notch, with the staff being attentive, friendly, and welcoming. We ordered the chicken and ham toasted sandwich, and it exceeded our expectations. The ham was real, the chicken was tender and delicious, and the fresh salad was abundant. Being used to London-sized sandwiches, we could barely manage to finish it! The portions were generous, and the overall atmosphere of the pub made it a great place for a relaxed meal. We'll definitely be coming back!
Best Sunday roast I've had in a long time - highly recommend!
Went with family and we were all very impressed with the customer service above all but the food and choice of food was also excellent.
A pub on a Sunday is not where l want to be, parking was extremely busy not helped with bad parking, very popular pub on a Sunday at least, beef bourgion was very grisly, not tender at all, even if we sent it back they can't improve the cut of meat. Loads of vegetables more than 4 people could eat. I had the 4 meat roast, wish l had just stuck to one meat but for around £23 not bad value l suppose. Dog friendly meaning we are honoured to be allowed to have a table near the entrance possible the worst seats in the house, very cold and drafty with people coming in and out.
Was there last night with family. Nice atmosphere. Food was ok but some were small portions for the price. The lasagne was the size of a granny square with half the plate full of salad and the rest was a couple of slices of garlic bread. The waitress was very abrupt the whole evening, literally shouting over us. The landlord however was really lovely and very attentive, polite and welcoming
Christmas Day lunch exceeded our expectations, firstly the atmosphere was cosy, relaxed and so festive, all of the staff were warm, welcoming, so friendly, polite and attentive, the food was exceptional, very delicious and massive portions, I have to say it possibly the best Christmas Day lunch we have had, the whole experience was truly outstanding
Lovely pub in a nice village. First off the place looks beautiful Chose to sit outside blankets provided on the chairs if needed (Nice touch) We was asked if we was running a tab and if so to give them a card to hold behind the bar .....thought this was a little odd and I'm not sure if it was only because we was two guys that turned up on bikes or maybe it's their policy. Both had non alcoholic beers Guinness 0 spot on . Moretti 0 was in my mates words rough as boots. Had some hummus and bread which was lovely. Both opted for the pie of the day beef . Very nice indeed I would of happily had another slice. It was served with mash and vegetables and all of it was delicious. Our waitress was pleasant and chatty but still attentive a real credit to your pub .
Back in Kent for the weekend, promised my friends that we would get boots on the ground, to check out a suitable venue for us Christmas doo. Had been in before- a few years ago. Had a drink and scoped the place out. As good as I remember it. Nice homely feel, food looked as good as I remember and staff are warm and friendly. They have a sister pub, the Chaser Inn at Shipbourne, which also has the wow factor. We will not doubt book the part of the building called “ The Library”. As you can see from the photo’s, segregated and not a thoroughfare.
Really good food that was beautifully cooked and well presented. The goat's cheese and the ham hock starters were particularly good. The sea bass was cooked just how I like it, with a crispy underside. And they managed to make the humble chicken breast into something especially tasty. I would have given them five stars but some of the waiting staff were quite disengaged and had virtually no knowledge of the menu regarding either food or drinks. But that did not spoil it being a very good meal.
The menu is good however many dishes unavailable/sold out at our reservation time. Service is OK. The roast needs improvement, we experienced thin slabs of meat impossible to chew, dry roasties and bland veggies. Large outdoor seating area large cosy indoor area.
Food adequate although expensive for what it was. Went for a quiet meal, staff continually coming up and asking how everything was. No longer did we have the pudding menu someone was at the table immediately asking for our order! If something's not right the customer will tell you. If you are confident in your product and service you don't need to keep coming to the table to ask if everything is fine.
I’m usually someone who believes “if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say it at all,” but after our experience, I think it’s important to share honest feedback. Firstly, the positives: The service was genuinely excellent. The staff were friendly, attentive, and our meals arrived promptly despite how busy the restaurant was. We all ordered variations of the Sunday Roast and the portions were huge. Everything tasted great, and we left feeling full and very satisfied. However, two issues made the overall experience disappointing. 1. The atmosphere created by another group We were a group of four in our late 30s, simply catching up and sharing a few laughs. Despite being respectful, we noticed a nearby group of six repeatedly turning to stare whenever one of us laughed. This eventually escalated to them openly mocking our laughter. It created an uncomfortable atmosphere, where we left early and it did cast a shadow over an otherwise nice meal. 2. Illness after the meal Unfortunately, 3 out of the 4 of us became unwell afterwards, experiencing stomach issues later in the day. While the food tasted delicious, this is obviously concerning. Overall: The staff were wonderful and the food was enjoyable, but between the uncomfortable behaviour from another table and the fact that most of us fell ill afterwards, we won’t be returning and do not recommend this establishment.
We visited this pub three women with children (one in a wheelchair) and chose to sit outside as it’s wasn’t really convenient to go inside with the wheelchair. Before ordering, the waitress asked me to leave my bank card “as security,” explaining that I could eat and leave without paying 🤨😳. I found this surprising, as in over 20 years of living in the UK I have never come across such a practice. In the end I left my car keys instead. The food and service were good, but this left me a little unsettled and took away from an otherwise pleasant visit.
Awful experience. NOT disabled friendly. Only one entrance for wheelchair users, round the back, past the kitchens & you need help with the locked door on one side. Have to be lifted over small step. NO other emergency access in case of fire. Very discriminatory, Only access to back part of pub. Too many tables and chairs to move around safely. Chairs stacked up by "escape doors" but no ramp. Only ramp was tatty, wooden ramp in 2 pieces. Path leading to door, very uneven and slippery when raining, as is handrail.
