The food here is honestly a bit overrated, but that’s never really been the point. In the middle of such a remote stretch of desert highway, having a place like this — with character, history, and a sense of nostalgia — is actually a small blessing for travelers. Peggy Sue didn’t build this diner to compete with modern restaurants. She built it to preserve a piece of 1950s American road culture, a place where people could stop, sit down, and take a break from the drive. You don’t come here expecting great food. You come for the atmosphere, the memories, and the simple fact that it’s still here.
I stopped by Peggy Sue's 50's Diner on my way back home from Death Valley National Park, I saw multiple Billboards on the Freeway,I think I might have seen this Billboards over 50 times on my to las vegas, but never ate here, but this time there was no Restaurants from Death Valley National Park and I exited to Peggy Sue's 50's Diner my Friend I ordered, Chicken Fried Steak and New York Steak, both were good and price was affordable. Friendly servers,
Oh wow! SO glad I found this place for our trip, and an absolute must visit especially if you have a taste for American nostalgia and great food! The Diner was full to the brim of things to look at, the staff were very friendly and the food was super yummy, especially the Banana Cream Pie 🥰 Thumbs up all round👍
Came here for the first time after passing it up so many times. It was great from start to finish. I sat at the counter. I had the eggs and hamburger patty with biscuits and gravy. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I walked around after I ate to check out all the sites and gift shop. The woman in the gift shop was super nice and asked if I wanted a shake. Hell yeah I wanted a shake. She was so friendly and professional. The prices were great on everything. I will definitely coming back with friends and family.
Great experience. A must visit on the way from LA to Vegas. 50s styled restaurant with very welcoming staff and beautifully decorated eating hall. We had to wait for a bit before getting seated, they send you to a souvenir shop with a beeper to call you when they are ready to seat you, not for long though. That got us worried about how long we'll have to wait for our food to be served but the food came just a few minutes after we ordered. And the food was great we all had burgers, they came in a bit of a build it yourself manner but tasted great. The lemonades were extremely sweet.
Beautiful diner set at the backdrop of the desert. The whole place has a unique charm. We had a strawberry milkshake and a house made soup. Both were excellent! The shake was the right amount of sweet, thickness and temperature. Rita was wonderful and we had a beautiful conversation which I’m carrying back with me for life! 🤍
Major shout out to April. She is truly setting the bar for excellence when it comes to regards to customer service. Major shout out to Peggy Sue’s 50 diner and all that work here you guys are truly offering a first class experience here anyone passing through Barstow definitely should put this on there to do bucket list. I’ve come here many times traveling from Los Angeles, California to Las Vegas and even when I travel from Los Angeles, California to Chicago Illinois I always make it a point to stop at Peggy Sue’s 50’s diner.
If you’re cruising from California to Vegas, this vintage 1950s roadside diner is an absolute must-stop. The classic retro vibe alone makes it worth pulling over, but the food is what really seals the deal. The eggs are fresh and perfectly fluffy, and the world-famous pancakes live up to the hype — light, delicious, and exactly what you want on a road trip. Service is friendly, the atmosphere feels like stepping back in time, and it’s the perfect break from the drive. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a memorable, old-school diner experience on the way to Vegas! 🥞✨
We've driven by Peggy Sue's Diner numerous times on my way to Las Vegas. We finally decided to stop and give them a try. We were not disappointed! The decor was all 50's related. It's a blast to the past with pictures & figurines of iconic stars such as Elvis, Hepburn, the Lone Ranger, Shirley Temple, the 3 Stooges, Marilyn Monroe, & many more. Their service was excellent and their food was very good! I recommend giving them a try - you won't be disappointed.
My first visit to Peggy's 50s Diner was so cute. The Little Chickadee Salad was fresh and tasty, and Andy’s Tina Turner Tuna Sandwich was pretty good with curly fries. Super friendly service all around — self-seating, neon, checkered floors, retro booths, and a playlist that feels like a time capsule. Loved the attached gift shop—50s souvenirs plus Hello Kitty stuff. Perfect little detour if you’re into retro kitsch.. fun vibe, solid diner bites, super friendly service, cute shop. Worth a stop if you’re nearby.
The large billboards advertising the diner caught my eye on the interstate. Had to stop by and I'm glad I did. There are 3 dining areas so there is more room once you walk through the counter area. Good, hearty food and absolutely excellent pies. Does have the vintage diner decor and the staff were very nice. If it's warmer out I have to try the ice cream next door 😋
Stopped by Peggy Sue’s Diner on the way to Vegas and had a great experience. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was fun and classic diner style. Our server was outstanding, super friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. I unfortunately don’t remember her name, but she truly made the visit even better. Great service all around and I’d definitely stop here again!
This is a quaint little place with nifty 50's theme all around. The women's bathroom is pretty cool, except the mannequin that is leaning up against the wall startled me! LOL! My husband had a salad and it was huge! He really enjoyed it. I had a nice homemade burger and curly fries which were delicious. I loved the staff wearing 50's Diner clothes and they were really friendly. If ever back in Vegas we'll stop by again!
Stepping into this restaurant feels like traveling back in time to the 1950s. From the servers’ outfits to the style of the check, every detail captures the era perfectly. It was such a nice experience to see a place like this in real life, not just in the movies. The food was good, and of course we had to try the pie – definitely worth it. The atmosphere is charming, especially in the original section, which feels authentic and full of character. The newer extension feels a little less natural, but still adds space for the many guests. Be prepared to wait, as it’s very popular and not meant to be fast food – but the overall experience makes it worthwhile. One thing to know: they don’t accept NFC payments, so you’ll need a physical card or cash.
Authentic 50's diner and gift shop. A perfect place to stop for food about halfway on the drive between Las Vegas to Los Angeles. Very fun atmosphere. Food was good. Service was great. You'll be happy you stopped..and if you have kids, they'll love it. They have 4 or 5 separate rooms with varying themes including a pizza parlor. Just go.
We gave in and stopped by to try this place out. Somewhat nostalgic with signed pictures on the walls. A large figure/statue of Elvis with an actual guitar. A rather large gift shop on one side with a ice cream shop attached to it. Most of the staff was wearing nostalgic type outfits. Anyway, the menus had and offered breakfast to dinner choices, and most had you add two sides to them. The staff was friendly, the place was clean, and got very busy quickly after we had ordered.
Doing the drive between Vegas and LA you will pass this place and wonder whats it like? So this time we decided to actually stop and try it out. The interior is very different from most places and its much bigger that you think when you first enter. We went for sandwiches (BLT & Turkey sandwich), fries curls and onion rings as sides. We also had sodas and their strawberry shake. We liked it, proper craftmanship and the shake was great! Next time I urge you to actually stop here - I recommend this place.
Ive Passed by this spot dozens of times on our way to Vegas and had never stopped to try. Im glad I did, as I stepped into the doors it was like being transported back in time. The atmosphere was awesome and the place is a-lot bigger inside than it looks from the 15 freeway. The food was good and plentiful with BIG portions . The service was excellent and the staff super friendly and helpful. Im bummed that I hadn’t tried it sooner. If you are making the trip through Yermo anytime soon, make time for this gem, Well worth the visit.
Was happy to find a place this breakfast place on my way home from Las Vegas. Love the vibe and '50s atmosphere. The food was good, but the prices were a bit high. We paid almost $50 between two breakfasts, coffees, taxes and tip. Those are some high-end prices for a place that's way off the Las Vegas strip. Service was excellent, friendly wait staff, and coffee refills. Definitely worth it.
A bit of a weird experience. The sign at the front says to seat yourself, which we did, and then my group was told we needed to move because there were only 3 of us and it was a table for 5. (There were plenty of empty tables of all sizes, including other tables for 5 or more, I just wanted to sit next to the Elvis statue.) Overall, my hopes of enjoying a cheesy, fun roadside attraction with my friends were stymied by the tired, chilly atmosphere. The food was nothing to write home about. I'm including a photo with my review of a sign in the restaurant that sums up my feelings on this place.
