Food was better than expected. The loaded fries with tater tots, highly recommend. Drinks and atmosphere were great. Nice location with some balcony's on the water.

My friend and I were staying in York for a few nights and visited the Tank & Paddle for snacks, tea and breakfast as it was handy to where we were staying. The balcony has a lovely view over the river and the pub and staff are very nice. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Visiting our favourite place and pub!! Second day spent here and decided to do the bottomless brunch!!! Amazing service again from Kerry 😁 so friendly, personable and nothing is too much trouble after working a long shift. The food is outstanding and so fresh, drinks flowing for my special birthday celebration 🥳 see you soon guys and thank you for being amazing as always.

The staff were all so friendly and welcoming! The food was absolutely amazing and all the cocktails were brilliant. We had a very great experience and I will definitely recommended to everyone I know who is planning a trip to York

Fantastic dog friendly pub in york, the food was excellent at a very reasonable price. The staff were very attentive and accommodating. The wings and chilli chips were superb. They also have a smart phone pub quiz on the sunday which was great fun. Good view over the river and great beer, Well worth a visit.

Great spot with great views of the river. Great for sports with each booth having it own tv. Had a sharing platter which I enjoyed immensely. Great staff and choice of drinks.

Good vibes only in this delightful bar. Very clean and great balcony views over York. Decent selection of beers and the food was fresh & tasty. Absolutely huge inside.

This place is a regular for us over the years. The food is OK apart from the over priced mac and cheese which is definitely heinze with cheese on top. But you can't fault the nachos and burgers. This place is a joy to sit in . And the views of the river are amazing, specially in summer. We will definitely be back,

This place always gets full marks every time we visit York. Drinks range is great, food amazing and all at great prices. Order at the bar or with the very easy to use app. Plenty of space inside, lots of various places to sit from booths to tables for 2 and a great outdoor balcony overlooking the river. Staff always happy and polite. Simply can’t fault this place!!

We went to Tank & Paddle in York, on our way back from the beautiful Lake District. ✔️ The Pub/restaurant was amazingly pretty and vibrant. ✔️ The food was really tasty and decent portion sizes as well. Well worth the money. ✔️ The staff were really helpful, friendly and polite. ✔️ Fantastic views overlooking the beautiful River Ouse. I highly recommend Tank & Paddle in York, if you want to taste tasty Pub food with great views. Thank you.

Had Bottomless brunch with Kerry. She was very friendly and provided excellent service. GIVE THE GIRL A RAISE! Food was good. Drinks were good. View was fantastic. Coming back again

No BBQ sauce with the food despite ordering a BBQ burger. Other than this, the experience was great, never left without a drink. The drink choices were the best we’ve had at a bottomless brunch. Olivia was really nice and helpful!

Traditional bar, food is amazing. I love the avo & pesto Salad + extra chicken breast. 5 start taste. Also sweet corn is tasty as well. Real charcoal flavor. The bar have live sports. Located Main Street. Summer time would have opened riverside balcony. Will defo come back!

A very lively atmosphere with a lot of folks dancing to the great music. Good selection of beers and no problems to try before you buy. Someone had dropped a glass and no one was doing anything about it so I brought it to the attention of a member of staff. Would go back

I visited here on 16 January with my husband, daughter and 21 year old grandson. We had the Bottomless Brunch and we were served by Jodie and Maddie - they were exceptional. We are coming again on the 6th February for my daughter Sam's birthday. I am hoping for the same experience. For atmosphere I gave 4 stars out of 5 - it was cold in there, we kept our coats on throughout.

Lovely find, had a great breakfast this Sunday filled me up for most of the day, good quality sausages as well. Enjoyed the views sat on the balcony as well, and lovely decor inside. Food came quite quickly, overall fab place.

Had a lovely time here with a bottomless brunch celebrating my birthday! Service was speedy, we got so many drinks in and the food was lovely. Our server Olivia was lovely and very attentive!

Lovely, friendly service. Bottomless brunch was incredible value at £28 per person (June 2023) and included a meal - I had The Big Breakfast (pictured). On a nice summer day there is also the choice of eating outside on a large balcony overlooking the River Ouse, and watching the boats go by. The vibe is geared towards those in their 20s and 30s with banter and loud music. Looking forward to visiting again!

This is a good place to eat with nice Riverside views and a terrace with tables. Food is decent and not too expensive. It was not noisy when we were there, but also one can watch sports (close side to the entrance). Service is good and quick. There are lots of craft beers available. It was 10! Guest ones plus 2 or 3 regulars.

M
Mark Grey

Lovely place for a first time visit. We had a decent lunch and pint here. Plenty of TVs to watch h the sport and if you can get a booth seat you have your own TV in the wall. Perfect to watch the match. Plenty of choice on the food menu as well. Could stay here for a good session for sure.

There is the most amazing lift which circumvents just four steps, doesn't seem much? It is to a wheelchair user! Well done Tank and Paddle X

Had a lovely time at the Tank and paddle. Me and my husband had a festive bottomless brunch, I had a big breakfast and mu husband had the festive pizza which were both delicious *wish I had taken pictures). I have to say, Jodi, our host was the most efficient member of staff I have had wait on me. She was so attentative, she knew exactly what you wanted when you wanted it. She was there before your drink was finished to offer you another. Great service in a lovely location, over looking the river. Jodi, thank you for waiting on us today, you deserve some recognition 👏 . Job well done. Highly recommended.

We were looking for somewhere to escape from the heat during a visit to York and spotted Tank and Paddle as we walked from the hotel toward the river. From outside it looked small and unassuming, but once you walk through the doors, it's a different world. Spacious and airy, with the bonus of sitting at the riverside, we were completely taken aback. The decor is quirky and bright, the choice of drinks is extensive and the gentleman that served me was extremely welcoming and friendly. We sat outside on the terrace and it was just beautiful. We spent an hour watching the riverboats pass and felt completely relaxed and refreshed. I very welcome resting place on one of the hottest days in history! Highly recommend.

Came for bottomless brunch, slightly limited food options but fab option of different beers and cocktails and spirits. Drinks were not very strong alcohol with lots of mixer but still was lovely. Pizzas were spot on and fab. Staff were very attentive and no time wasted to get as many drinks as possible! Great vibes of the bar and good TVs for sport and cool atmosphere overall

Came here for lunch with some work colleagues. Nice pub with lots of space, and good views of the river. Standard pub food menu where you can order from QR codes at the table, or at the bar. We went up to the bar to order, and after ordering a burger was told that they do a lunchtime deal (burger for £8 when you buy a drink). Didn't see this advertised anywhere, but was a good deal so a few of us chose burgers. The burger was perfectly acceptable, better than a standard pub burger, and had a nice flavour and texture. Came in a nice soft bun with plenty of fries. Would happily eat here again.

M
Mark Nicholson

Top class city centre pub if you want sport on TV and drink decent craft ale. The service is excellent for such a busy place and if you’re lucky enough to get a booth - you have your own dedicated TV 👍🏻

Wing night! Food was excellent. We had pizza, wings, and burgers (yes I know, not very English). Drinks and dinner came out from kitchen promptly and server was very courteous. Only ding we give is on atmosphere. Not the views, the location is amazing and it was great to see the river traffic. The issue was there were a group of locals, one of which was clearly over served and he was yelling at full volume across the river to his mates on the other side. This was ok for a bit, but then he got into it with a few young boys fishing below us and at some point he threw his beer at them and his glass shattered below. Management was nowhere to be found. It took the glow off an otherwise perfect evening.

The Tank & Paddle is a very large pub in a great location by the river. There is a wide choice of draught beers locker and cider, including for hand pulled cask conditioned real ales and a wide choice of craft beers. The food menu looked very tempting. Although we didn't have time to eat, we will definitely be trying it on our return visit. There is a nice outside seating area overlooking the river, the staff are very friendly and welcoming its a nice pub worth visiting. Dog friendly.

Great bar overlooking the River that we always try and find time to visit when in York. The cocktails are usually 2for1 and there's something for everyone on the menu. The food is excellent too, its no surprise we usually time our visits around teatime. Pizza cones are something that need to be seen to be believed, just don't attempt one unless you've worked up an appetite. Dessert menu is good too, imaginative, affordable, delicious and calorific treats. The place is usually busy but the staff are good, quick and attentive, and ordering off the app saves time if the bar queues are too busy.

K
Karen Phillips

Lovely place, great food and friendly staff. The only issue is that the app has a section for non alcohol drinks. So I ordered what I thought was an acholic fruit cider from the cider bottles section and got delivered a non alcoholic one. Costly tipple to not drink!

C
Cashmere Cupcake

They have a really good deal where you can get 3 bite size dishes for around £13 or something. But I will warn you the tacos don't have proper chicken. Its just a chicken nugget dumped in a taco shell. Apart from that it was all good 🙂 the food came very fast.

R
Richard Beadnall

Fair range of beers and plenty of room to sit and enjoy them. A decent enough place to stop off for a beer and well located for a lot of other decent pubs too.

G
Graham Radcliffe

Great place to watch live footy. Good location overlooking the river. My only criticism is that they were under staffed at the bar, which is why I dropped a star. But it's a nice place and would vist again.

Stopped for something quick to eat on a Wednesday night trip to York. Plenty of tables available and some nice ones overlooking the River. Issue was they were all full of glasses and lots covered in cigarette ash. I sat down and the glasses were cleared. I ordered via the barcode, lots of things on the menu had run out. I had the cheese stone baked pizza and fries. I had to ask when the drink was brought out to clean the cigarette ash off the table, little bit annoying. It was lovely sat overlooking the river though on a warm day, the food was ok and staff nice enough. Prices reasonable. Worth the h it for the location if you get a table outside but the tables need to be cleared properly and more often. 5 star view 3 star food, 1 star attention to detail.

M
Mark McEntee

Conveniently located in the city and next to the river. There are some nice seats that overlook the river. It’s large and spacious inside with good air-conditioning. There is a large selection of local and international beers. Overall quite good. However, don’t come here for a friendly service. The barmaid was very irritated and to have to serve anyone, and had no patience for anyone asking questions or being unsure of what they wanted to order 😔

o
oslaskid

Cannot comment on food as did not have any. Had one pint of meantime tank beer. Anyone expecting tank beer like pilsner urquell will probably be disappointed. Overpriced and not really any different to normal lager. Barmaid was pleasant. A usable large pub in the wetherspoons vein, but just ok. Nice view of micklegate bridge and kings head pub opposite.

D
Duncan Clarkson

We ordered two blue cheese burgers with fries, which when they arrived were exactly the same size meal as the kids burger & fries - in fact the kids meal was better because they got beans too. Taking the mick for £15 a burger. Staff are indifferent but the place is actually quite pleasant inside with a good view of the river.

What a difference in a year !! Place is mess now empty glasses and food plates everywhere just left no attempt at collection. Seats manky with stains. Bar staff more interested in speaking amongst themselves. Big change in 12 months!!

Myself and my sister came for a couple of drinks in the evening and a male bouncer later approached our table and asked us to “step outside immediately”. Super confused I asked why we were being asked to leave and we were told we had been approached before asking to stop vaping. We had been sat down chatting for a couple of hours with no intervention or issue. We explained this, again super confused on the situation, honestly thinking we had been confused with another table. We were then told to get out again. Realising there was no explaining that would help us, we just got up and walked out, honestly just bewildered at the situation. After leaving when asked to do so, with no hesitation or resistance, we went to go to another venue for a drink and were told that we couldn’t enter anywhere in York as the previous bouncer had taken our photograph (without our knowledge) and posted it to a group chat saying we were rude and aggressive. Such a shame as we were simply sat chatting and would have spent a lot more money there and in other pubs. The bouncer in the second venue was super apologetic and said that our demeanour was both friendly and sober, nothing like the accusations of rude and aggressive. We came for a weekend trip and for no reason had our evening cut short. The Tank and Paddle is a great venue, with lovely bar stuff but please please review your security because this was so upsetting.

We visited this establishment 11/2/26 , we went for the chicken wings offer that they have on offer quite often. To start with we ordered our drinks, only to find they didn't have any real ale on off at all, only your generic offerings . So I went of a cruzcampo, my with had a standard cider! When we got our wings, they looked great, but they looked better than they tasted, they tasted under cooked and fatty, this was out second visit here for the same deal, six months apart. So a dreadful experience on both times, so we definitely will not return to this establishment

I was booked in for a bottomless brunch with my family and friends and the service we received was appalling.  We got their to find out we couldn't have a bottomless bunch because we had a 1 year old with us. All I was told was he couldn't sit in a high chair I was never told he wouldn't be allowed to be in a pushchair with us. This wasn't made clear at all , baring in mind we had the exact same child with us last year for a bottomless brunch and it was absolutely fine. We ended up drinking more that what we would if done if we had the bottomless brunch so if this policy is real it makes absolutely no sense and you need to make it extremely clear to people. Also there were 12 of us including elderly people and people with injuries. We couldt just walk around for ages trying to find somewhere else The manager who was serving us was very rude basically calling me a liar which i did not appreciate at all. There was no compassion, understanding or Apologies for any possible misunderstanding.  Im a manager in hospitality and retail and this was appalling. My mum went and spoke to a different manager at the bar and the other manager had no idea what the issue was and said they couldn't understand why we couldn't have a bottomless brunch with a 1 year old their. They did not even know themselves that this rule existed and this is coming from another manager.  So being told completely 2 different things here. I requested that we have a low table due to people having knee injuries, this didn't happen and was given no explanation what so ever. For the 5 of that had the santa burger we were meant to have roast potatoes with gravy this didn't happen, were given chips with out any explanation. The service was awful and over all really not a good experience at all. It was meant to be a treat for my birthday and you ruined it. Last year we had such an amazing time and thought everyone was out standing. We dont think that now and will never be coming back. Very disappointed and very angry.

I stopped by this bar recently for breakfast and unfortunately didn’t have a great experience. We arrived at 11:35am, as the sign outside clearly stated breakfast was being served until 12pm. However, when we went in, the lady behind the bar immediately shouted over that they weren’t serving breakfast anymore. There were still menus on the tables and nothing indicated that service had already stopped, so it was quite confusing. The way it was communicated also felt unnecessarily abrupt and unwelcoming. We completely understand that kitchens need time to close, but with 25 minutes still left according to the posted hours, we didn’t expect to be turned away like that. Overall, it just left us feeling like we were a burden rather than customers. A clearer sign about last orders or a more polite explanation would have made a big difference.

D
Dxsm

Extremely cold in temperature, atmosphere and customer service. Burger was hot and tasty. Pizza however, barley warm and no flavour for a mighty meaty. Total of 4 people in the pub drinking. Yet the 2 members of staff, 1 on their phone at the end of the bar and the other sitting eating her lunch, couldn't be bothered to come and check if everything was OK. When ordering, staff admitted that food was pre made and couldn't be adapted. Establishment was cold, radiators turned off despite it being freezing cold outside. Then came the toilets. 2 x urinals and 1 cubicle out of order. Wet floor signs abandoned in the toilet. Stock not put away behind the bar. Cupboard doors not shut. The latter wouldn't have been obvious if the rest had been upto basic standards. Great location, great space. Let down by certain food qualities, general attention to detail and basic customer service standards being met.
