What an amazing experience. My friend and I wanted to try a lot of the menu, so we over ordered. The daily menu was a little gem citrus salad, beef stroganoff, and a lemon bar. We added the cheese board and the fried chicken. Everything was amazing and so was the wine. Service was fantastic.
Everything was absolutely delectable, no notes! My pictures do not do it justice. We had someone in the group with Celiac and they take it very seriously. My only note is where we were sitting was very loud due to the music levels and how many people were there. I would suggest keeping an ear out for loud pockets and turning the music down accordingly. Still a great experience and I wish I lived in the area to come back more often. Not important to the food, but I loved the paper towels in the bathroom with the logo. :)
It's wonderful to splurge occasionally at this Thomas Keller restaurant. The food is always delicious and the staff is incredibly friendly and very well trained. I've only been a handful of times but it always makes me want to go back again soon. The menu is always a three course meal with additional add-on options. It goes without saying that the wine and alcohol list is impressive. Worth the drive to Yountville for a special dining experience.
We heard a lot of good things about this place and finally had a chance to try this place. Coming all the way from Singapore, we are lucky to manage to make a reservation and get a chance to try this restaurant. It didn't disappoint us. The food was fantastic. It was certainly worth the drive all the way from San Francisco. Highly recommend this place if you are in the vicinity and do make a reservation ahead of time. It was busy when we were there and saw someone got turned away because they do not have a reservation. We ordered the meals for 4 adults, and since we had two young kids, the restaurant had prepared some kids' meals for them.
Very pleasant evening at this comfortable and relaxed location. Chicory salary started our meal, fresh and vibrant, then I was able to substitute the pork for salmon, with roasted potatoes and yummy brussel sprouts. The highlight was the dessert, a sundae with a selection of sauces. Overall a lovely experience, and a very pleasant and attentive server.
The quality of French Laundry, but family style and naturally less formal. A reservation was made for my birthday, and when I was seated there was a happy birthday card signed by the entire team. Menu changes daily based on accessibility of seasonl ingredients, which is rather special. During the fall, Adhoc sells lobster rolls paired with house made chips (Think lays on steroids) from their rear garden area. Simply the best I've ever had.
You know this review will be positive especially the chicken which is why you're reading this! This chicken has more than 11 herbs and spices or maybe less but either way if it's not the best fried chicken you've ever had, it'll for sure be a top 3 in the world! We were lucky enough to be able to sit outside on 12/07/25 when we went. Our puppy was thrilled as well! The entire meal was spectacular, as well as the drink pairing. Not sure how the team does it but I have to imagine they are all geniuses!
December 2025 Thomas Keller's informally styled thus "ad hoc" American restaurant serves up a pretty hefty combination of mainly Southern style cooking especially with their renowned fried chicken 🍗 🐔 and biscuits dishes. It's a daily changing affair with a one set course of 4 servings which, did I mention, are served in generous portions and in shareable formats. Don't expect traditional fine dining protocols as the ambiance sets a fast paced and quirky decorative style in the motif of porcine figures and emblems. The meals are arguably basic but the execution leaves one to wonder the technical aspects of how the dishes were made. The wine 🍷 selection and course amply partners the food while barely fits in your digestive tank as the meal progresses. Servers know only too well how it is and are friendly, attentive and gracious to help especially in preparing the inevitable takeaways. A special list of varied side orders are also available beyond the basic menu which can a respite for the frequent diner of the establishment. The place is well laid out with a non imposing bar and nooks that give enough privacy for you to work on your plates. Definitely a must for the Yountville visitor Reservations are highly recommended
If you can get a reservation here, don’t skip this place!! Everything is fantastic and the flavors are masterfully put together. They use fresh ingredients from their shared garden with the French Laundry, and you can taste the excellence in each bite. A small but mighty family-style rotating menu that meant to match what’s fresh and in season. It’s a relaxed and chill ambiance, which is a nice change of pace from its neighboring fancy restaurants. An absolute must visit for a fraction of the price of the French Laundry.
Family style dishes done right. Menu changes daily. We started with Creamy Tomato Soup with creme fraiche, brioche croutons, chives. ThenYankee Pot Roast snake river farms eye of chuck roasted root vegetables, buttermilk whipped potatoes creamy horseradish. Then Brie Donge w/ marshall's farm honey, looney bin crackers. Finished with a Ice Cream Sundae chocolate, strawberry & bourbon caramel sauces, toasted pearson farms pecans, whipped cream. Amazing meal!
Amazing fried chicken... juicy and crispy. I can finally say that I have been to The French Laundry fried chicken restaurant. I am no longer a basic KFC girl. I would highly recommend to try their fried chicken if you are visiting the wine valley. They have dine in and patio area for outdoor dinning. They do follow the covid protocols very well, all employees are masked and space was spread out in between tables. If I am in the area again, I will definitely get their boujee bucket of fried chicken to-go again!
I've dined here twice now and both times were superb. I love how the food is served family style and has a casual yet elevated feel. Their fried chicken is by far the best i've ever had. This recent time we also had a cut of iberico for the main dish and it was incredible. I'm also still thinking about their lobster mac and cheese almost 2 years later! Ad Hoc is a staple of Northern California for me, i can't recommend it enough!
Dinner was amazing. We enjoyed 4 courses. We started with a Heirloom Tomato salad. The flavors were all went together perfectly! Our next course was a NY Steak that melted in my mouth. We added the Buttermilk Fried Chicken and it was the BEST I’ve ever tasted! Our sides were Broccolini and mashed potato’s. We next had an aged cheese board with and incredible jellied sweet accompaniment. Our final course was Tiramisu. We will definitely return when in Napa Valley!
My wife and I had a fantastic Sunday at Silverado Resort for the Procore PGA tournament, and we ended the night with a delicious meal at Ad Hoc. We made a reservation in advance and were seated in about 10 minutes. The server was super friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The food was absolutely incredible! We started with the grilled ribeye, mashed potatoes, and broccolini. The ribeye was perfectly seasoned and cooked to our liking, and the mashed potatoes were our personal favorite - fluffy, rich in flavor, and just so tasty. The broccolini was okay, but it had a bit too much pepper for our taste. My wife added on the buttermilk fried chicken, and it was crispy, juicy, and just perfect. The dessert was ice cream, and it was a bit of a novelty, but we had a great time trying the different flavored syrups they provided. My wife got the Flor d’ Luna drink, and it was fine, but it wasn’t her favorite. I got the old-fashioned, and it’s exactly the way I like it. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend making a trip to Ad Hoc. It’s a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for!
Finally got to eat here and enjoy some of the tastes we'd previously had from Addendum. The excellent service makes this a step up from the brilliant takeout. Our three course was salad, pork steak, and soft serve sundaes, and of course we had to add on the famous fried chicken. Note that this is a lot of food for two, but they were happy to package it up While everything was perfectly prepared, the soft serve was sublime, especially with all-you-desire caramel!
My first Thomas Keller experience and a big personal moment. Chef Keller has long been my favorite American chef. I’ve read two of his cookbooks cover to cover, and his philosophy around precision, produce, and the farm-to-table ethos has shaped how I think about food. Ad Hoc, in particular, felt like the perfect entry point. Casual but rooted in the same ethos as The French Laundry, with ingredients sourced from their farm next door. Apart from the iconic buttermilk fried chicken and maybe the French onion dip, everything else on the menu changes daily. The brunch was a three-course meal with two optional add-ons. Since there were five of us, we decided to try everything, and just as I’d hoped, every dish was delicious. French Onion Dip + Kettle Chips – A staple for a reason. The house-made chips had that rustic crunch with a slight (and pleasant) bitterness. But the real highlight was the French onion dip. Ultra-savory, creamy without being heavy, and topped with an unapologetically generous layer of chopped scallions. Possibly the best version I’ve had. Garden Salad – Most of my friends thought it was plain. But knowing the backstory made me appreciate the details. The strawberries, for example, were unbelievably sweet (never had one this sweet in the US). Chef Keller writes about harvesting before sunrise to preserve natural sugars. It’s one of those dishes where simplicity is elevated through sourcing and intention. Çılbır – Poached eggs over yogurt with chili oil. Probably the most subdued dish of the meal. But the sourdough that came with it was phenomenal. Buttermilk Fried Chicken – Hands down the best “American-style” fried chicken I’ve had. At first glance, it looked ordinary, something between Popeyes and KFC. But the brining made all the difference. Moist, tender, and evenly seasoned throughout. Even the breast pieces, which I usually leave behind, were perfectly juicy. I’d come back to Yountville just to take home a box of this. Vanilla Soft Serve – Texturally flawless. So smooth it almost looked like shaving cream (in a good way). The hot chocolate sauce hardened on top just slightly, and flavor-wise, it felt like an elevated version of the nostalgic McD’s dipped cones.
First time at Ad Hoc on a Sunday and it was a delightful experience! They offer a unique prix fixe menu served family-style that you’ll be able to ask for seconds if you’re not satisfied. The menu is also updated daily, with day-of-the-week dinner specials (eg fried chicken every Monday and sundaes for dessert every Sunday), so there’s always a reason to return! The appetizer, broccolini with burrata, was stellar, and so was the short rib pappardelle. The short rib was very tender and just absolutely delicious. The dinner ended with a DIY sundae (because it’s Sunday!) which was very cute, but we had expected better quality vanilla ice cream considering that its a Thomas Keller restaurant. The service was also on the slower side, so that can be improved. Special shoutout to the restaurant for being thoughtful in providing separate plates that replaces the carbs with alternatives for my diabetic friend so that was greatly appreciated. Overall, we had a fantastic meal and would love to revisit to try out the other dishes / menus!

Always excellent service and food. Never disappoints ever. Even the butter for the bread was delicious. I don't like lemon desserts but this dessert was so creamy and tasty.

We dined here while visiting Napa. Great menu and drinks. Prix fix as usual. Good service. Great ambience. Steak was cooked perfectly. Highly recommended!!
Set menu. 4 stars because the vibe was a little odd to me (I’m used to how lively SF restaurants are) and the gem salad was really confusing as the prequel to such a good beef stroganoff. It wasn’t super tasty and the lettuce just felt really uninspired. Pretty good service and a nice lunch overall.
We sat outside, which was a bit chilly at first, but our server was kind enough to move a heater over for us, really appreciated that gesture. The outdoor seating felt more relaxed, whereas the indoor area was noticeably louder when I went in to use the restroom. The food overall was good, and we enjoyed hearing the stories behind some of the dishes. That said, since there's no assigned server, the service felt a bit inconsistent. Some servers would have detailed explanations of the dishes (which we really enjoyed), others would just dropped off without a word. The only real letdown was the dessert, it didn’t quite deliver the strong finish we were hoping for. Still, a thoughtful dining experience with a few highs and some room for improvement.
We visited this restaurant because of a friend’s recommendation of their tender fried chicken. We were not disappointed; it was juicy and delicious. However, I believe the price is a bit high for the quality of the meal. The waiters were very kind and professional, but the downside was that there were only two restrooms, and people had to wait in long lines to use them. It felt a bit strange in this nice restaurant.

If you are bold enough to make fried chicken your signature dish it better be mind-blowingly good. Unfortunately the chicken was somewhat overcooked and the crust was underseasoned and quickly became soggy. The day we were there they were also serving a tomato salad (delicious!) and pork chop with fregola (confusingly, this was both overcooked and served lukewarm). There was also a cheeseboard which was quite incongrous with the rest of the menu - both of the tables sitting near us asked also seemed to be at a loss with what to do with it and asked for it to be boxed up rather than sent to the table. If you consider this to be a fine dining restaurant, the menu pricing is reasonable. If you consider it instead to be serving elevated diner food, then it feels a bit pricy. Portions are generous. The service also had some errors - I went for the reserve wine pairing, and for several of the courses the pairing arrived 5 minutes or more after I'd started eating. The wine really needs to be on the table before the corresponding food is. The pairing was only $75, which represents good value - though you don't get any of the usual theatrical description of the tasting notes that you might expect from a fine dining place.
Food was tasty, but portions were skimpy for the high price. Outdoor seating sets a new standard for uncomfortably. Serving staff were inattentive and meal was delivered extremely slow. If you c…
