Hometown Cafe Addison Reviews
Very authentic and homemade quality food. Friendly and very efficient staff. Spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. Definitely family friendly.
Cozy and delicious Taiwanese-style cafe with lots of options to choose from. Self-serve style. You walk in and the available dishes are on display so you pick the dishes you want and then seat yourself. It comes with white rice and free house soup as well. I always stop by when I’m in the area. Highly recommend!
Food and prices are amazing! They upgraded their space and now there better seating option too. I became a regular unintentionally but they know what I’m gonna order before I even say anything lol
excellent traditional Chinese food in a cafeteria style format. good selection of 12 to 15 dishes served in plates of 2, 3 or 4 entrees per plate with rice. free soup with plate. the taste really is home style cooking at family friendly prices. recommended!
This Chinese cafeteria in town is the best Taiwanese style in town. They have a wide variety of common Chinese dishes, two kinds of free soups, and the lowest prices in town. Enjoy it every time!
This place is great. The food is very delicious, and you have a lot of options to choose from. Price is affordable. We ordered 3 dishes with rice and it’s only $12. It also includes soup. The place feels clean, quiet, and comfortable. I recommend trying this place if you like Chinese food.
Home-style cafeteria Chinese food that is honestly one of our favorite spots in the whole metroplex. We have come here countless times and each time has never disappointed. I love the pork rib, lions head, roll wrapped with bean curd, and honestly disliked any dish here. You get to choose 3 dishes and there’s free soup that’s 2 out of the 3: hot and sour, egg drop soup, radish soup. Highly recommend they also accept credit card now!!
The food was good, nice flavor profile and the portions were large. Price was very fair. Just some small issues. I wish there were labels to know what each dish were or whether it’s spicy or not. This way, we didn’t have to constantly ask what each dish was and kind of flavor it is. A lot of chicken and pork options but wish there were more beef options. I would for sure come here again! Also, the address on Yelp is old, we went to the wrong location. Please update that.
ALL YOU CAN DRINK SOUP without additional charge if you dine in. ONLY $10 for three dishes rice platter. We are a family with 2 adults and 1 kid. $20 six dishes feed us pretty well for one meal and have leftover for the next meal! It is such a great place to go when you do not feel like cooking.
The basic concept behind hometown cafe is that you pick 3 dishes and they'll give you some rice, all for $10. Since you queue up for your food, there isn't any service to speak of, but then you also don't need to tip. The ambiance is typical of a Chinese restaurant, but the food is awesome. Furthermore, you get unlimited free soups of your choice. There is usually a spicy soup and a non-spicy soup. As a Chinese, I would personally visit this place everyday if I stay near, as I love the food here.
This is a home cook cafe style restaurant. They have variety of selection of food to pick from. Simple to order, pick 3 dishes and serve with rice and you can get your own soup. This is a CASH ONLY. They also have a menu you can order from. They do have specialty menu on the weekend. Family always enjoy coming here. Every gets to pick what they like. $10 for a meal.
One of the best place for college students and for anyone on a budget. Great quality and quantity Taiwanese food. $7 for a big tray with 3 dishes of your choice + 2 scoops of rice + unlimited soup + water. They have 2 different kind of soups, egg drop soup and radish & mushroom soup. I recommend getting the radish & mushroom soup. Cash only!! Self-service restaurant with excellent customer service from the owners. Tips: come early in the day for better food choice. If you come late, they only have left over food. Cons: Very sticky rice. But in general, everything is great. No complaint.
No frills, pick your dish, get your soup, rest, go. Perfect for people on the go. Food was good, plenty of selections. Will definitely go back, even though we drive half an hour to get there. Dish is $7 each, free soup. Soup was very good. Cash only. Does not look like a lot of food but it's definitely enough to share.
Think of Lubys or some other cafeteria style restaurant where you walk through a line and select what you want except now it’s Taiwanese food. There are chicken, pork, fish, and beef dishes as well as noodles and vegetables. It’s a little different than the classic chinese buffet. I think if you had not been here it will be a little different than expected. Turns out the three selection and rice is lower in price than the two . I got the cold noodles, fish, and a chicken dish. Wasn’t to thrilled about the fish. I guess I expected it to be a little more crispy. The noodles and chicken were good. Also, they have two soups you can chose from and have as much as you want . I had the hot and sour which is really good. The other soup I believe is a vegetable soup of sorts. The ladies working the line are nice. One of them really is talkative and will tell you what everything is if you ask and it’s not too busy.
This is a famous self-serve restaurant. You choose the food that you want from the serving station, and then pay for your food at the checkout counter. Recommend the “Rice and 3 sides” plate to choose 3 sides from the serving station coming with rice. Also recommend the delicious boiled dumplings. December, 2024 The restaurant moved to the new location in the DFW China Town. The address on the Google map has been updated. The new store looked pretty good and clean. The food is still good but the price of “rice with 3 sides” changed from $10 to $12. It’s great that the credit card is accepted now at the new location. There is Karaoke at the dining area for entertainment.
This is a Chinese cafeteria style restaurant. Come as soon as they are open to ensure fresh cooked food. Good value for quick eat food selection. $10 with 3 entrees and unlimited soup. Great value if you are not picky for cleanliness. Cash only but ATM is available. My rating. 5 is very satisfy. Taste 4/5 Temp 3/5 Attentive and courteous 4/5 Cleanliness 1/5. Many outdated posters and fade signs. If the visible is not thought of, the kitchen cleanliness may highly be a concern.
This is a counter service cafeteria style restaurant that specializes in homestyle Chinese food to take home (main business) or eat in. When eating in, rice is provided with 3 dishes for $10. Taking out, the servings are larger but you get two dishes for $12 (without rice) or four for $13 (with or without rice). We got two 3 item combos for dine in and tried red braised pork belly (flavorful but the meat was dry and chewy, the fat and skin were tender), three cup chicken (the chicken was bland but the sauce flavorful; only one piece of chicken was tender, the rest were dry and chewy with small bone shards), spare ribs (good flavor but pretty chewy), Napa cabbage (not to salty, cooked well) with woodear mushrooms, string beans (also cooked okay - not under cooked and just a little over fried - they were greasier than they need to be), and seasoned vermicelli noodles (good flavor). Most of the food tasted okay to good but the texture of the meat was an issue. Most importantly, the temperature was a problem. The three meat dishes were merely warm which made me wonder if they were being held at or above 140°F. The three vegetable dishes were cold (room temperature) but not refrigerator cold (below 40°F). This seems to be a basic food safety issue and I don’t think I’ll return because of this risk. They do provide a couple different soups for free for dine in customers. (These are served hot.) As for the facilities: the tables are sticky and even after I tried to wipe them down with wet paper towels procured from the bathroom, they remained quite tacky. The bathrooms were clean and had soap and paper towels in stock. Also cash only. Free WiFi (ask them for password).
