Best Italian food I've had. The experience to watch them make your dish in front of you was cool. The staff was nice, knowledgeable of the items..

This is my favorite Italian restaurant! I’m a Seattle resident and I’m not kidding when I say I’ve travelled down to SF solely for this restaurant. This place truly warms the soul.

The gluten free pizza crust was top 3 I’ve ever had! Salads are also GF friendly. Great salads, pastas, and pizzas for the whole group.

We came for the cheese wheel pasta and we were not disappointed. This was fun and delicious and would happily eat here again. The pizza was also very tasty. It was a bit pricy but was a lovely experience. The service was also great.

Nothing beats a relaxing visit to Acquolina with friends to enjoy great authentic Tuscan cuisine, wine, and North Beach vibe. With windows reaching the ceiling you can take in Washington Square Park and the busy pedestrian corner scene. With favorable weather take it all in from an outside table. Favs: cheese wheel pastas, amazing Panini, Calamari, and the many pizza offerings. Grab a bottle of Italian wine or a cocktail and get ready for a classic European experience.

My husband & I are visiting from Melbourne Australia & had dinner in here. We ordered the Bufalina pizza. The dough on this pizza was so light and the flavors were simple and delicious - we had to order another one. Our waiter was super friendly & attentive. We will be back when visiting again.

I had a great time at Acquolina. The food and the vibe were excellent. I had an outdoor seat, but it was kept warm by a heater. I highly recommend the burrata and the spaghetti ai frutti di mare. They are both incredibly fresh and flavorful, and worth every penny.

I HAD to review this place. To be honest, came here because there was a crazy long wait on the other spots in the area, but I am so glad I came!! First of all, NO SEED OILS!! we had a pepperoni pizza, a cheese pizza, meatball appetizer, salad, and a perfectly cooked lamb chop, medium rare. Vegetable 🥕side dishes. Start to finish, amazing. Service, drinks, food. Across the board. So yummy. We even ordered another pizza to take home! The sauce to cheese ratio was so perfect 🤤 I wasn’t prepared for this level of delicious so apologies for the lack of pics 😆 Two ten year olds, two adults very happy 🙏 From the kids: “ best food I have ever had, I will definitely come back!!”

This underrated gem should not be missed. Initially we were planning on going to Tony's, but as we approached it was obvious there was a long wait time. We stopped in front of Acquolina. We looked inside, there was plenty of seating inside and outside. The smell was fantastic. Our server was from Naples and having just returned from vacationing in Italy, it was nice to have a relaxed dining experience. He didn't rush us. He kept saying stay, no rushing necessary. He gave a us a small dessert gratis to say thank you to us! Loved it and highly recommend.

We had tried to get to the pizza place across the street, but why? This place is amazing. Low wait time with great food and service. However, the bathroom door sticks so push hard. I would recommend this location to anyone who wants a great pizza to share.

Excellent place to eat real Italian food, had a delicious Parmigiana and Ravioli, so similar to my (Italian) grandma’s recipe! Also very tasty dessert, and the staff was kind and quick, will surely eat here again!

Excellent food from a good selection of dishes. Service was efficient but no one checked back with us after we were served to see if everything was satisfactory. Also quite loud.

My husband and I popped in her for lunch on a busy Sunday afternoon. We were able to get a seat right away despite the restaurant being almost completely full. The waitstaff were attentive and friendly. I did feel slightly rushed, it didn’t feel like the kind of place where we could truly hang out and have a leisurely meal. It is also pretty loud inside. They do offer outdoor seating and I imagine on a beautiful day it would be a great option as it overlooks the park. All of our dishes were good. Well prepared and great flavor combinations. The house made chili oil on the table was better than other places I have tried. Food is definitely more expensive than some other places, especially for lunch but fingers crossed it is because they are buying better ingredients and paying their staff well. We had the focaccia bread with olive oil started, a spaghetti with meatballs, a margarita pizza, and a Mediterranean salad, plus a lemonade and it came out to $98 with a 22% tip. All in all my husband and I were happy with our meal and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this restaurant if someone is in the area looking for solid Italian food!

Great experience in little Italy!! Parm wheel is the reason we chose Acquolina and it didn’t disappoint. Food was good, only issue one might have would be that it didn’t come out together & by the time it all came out some plates were cold. So that’s definitely an opportunity. Service was good, atmosphere good, limited cocktail menu, good wine, overall great experience.

What a wonderful place to dine. The atmosphere was great. We were the first people in that night and got to witness the place fill up. We met a wonderful couple who were seated next to us and had one of the best conversations over dinner I have had in a long time. As for the wait staff, they were all amazing. They were welcoming and attentive to not only our table but all who were there. We had the Cacio E Peppe, which you can see in the video. Also got the Shrimp Vesuvio Pasta. Both the pastas we simple and subtle but oh so good. As for dessert, we had Torta Della Nonna (Italian Grandma's Cream-Lemon Cake). The lemon cake was gentle in flavor with the soft hints of lemon made this my favorite dessert thus far. I look forward to making the trip back and trying something new and having that lemon cake again. If you are around this area, I would say this is a place you need to try. You never know which dish will be your next favorite.

It’s one of the spots in North beach you’ll always find a table without wait. Their food is decent but the service could be better (we had our appetizers coming together with the main course). Prices are average and can’t say anything special about the ambience. My recommendation on food would be lasagna.

Honestly this place was a really nice surprise for my day. I ordered the lasagna and it came out quick despite the place being full. Our waiter was very kind. Only issue is there is 1 singular tiny bathroom so the line is super long. It is right in front of the kitchen entrance too so staff have to squeeze there way past back and forth. An enjoyable experience with the only issue being the restroom.

Awesome food and good vibe. Much better than what I expected. Give this place a try. The calzone was fantastic. Thank you.

Delicious food in the heart of little Italy. Fresh food made quickly made even better by a chili oil they source. Now the pizzas did taste good but just wasn’t what I was expecting. I guess I just wanted more of a hand held slice. They were also a bit overpriced for the portion your getting too. That chili oil does go hard tho. Now I’m realizing that I should’ve waited in line for Tony’s.

Acquolina in North Beach is a decent place to grab some good italian food. Being right next to Washington Square lends itself to the “little Italy” vibes of this restaurant. They have all the right things on the menu, but feels less authentic than other nearby places. The prices are an bit high, and the staff is slightly inattentive, but the food is still great quality. This place is always busy, and does get a bit noisy at times. If Tony’s or Golden Boy’s lines are too long then this could be a good alternative. I’d have to say this is more if a tourist restaurant

Came here on thanksgiving day with a reservation since it seemed like it was one of the few places that was open that day. We were seated outside but thankfully they had heating! We got the eggplant parm, the mozzarella pizza, and one of their pastas. I liked the eggplant dish but nothing surprising about the pizza- maybe it wasn’t up to par since it was super busy that day(?) but the pizza was super thin (a little too flimsy) and kind of wet which I wasn’t a fan of. The crust was fluffy and nice but I’ve had better pizza in the area.

FOOD 3 Walked in one night and ordered 3 drinks, fried calamari, pizza with zucchini and mushrooms, Caesar salad and dessert. The overfried calamari and a few overfried prawns came out first before our drinks and is served with a garlic aioli and a tomato sauce. Good volume, but no taste without the aioli. Would have preferred a lemon wedge at least. - 3. Caesar salad is romaine lettuce tossed with croutons, shredded Parmesan cheese and store-bought dressing - 2. Too disappointing. Pizza crust was decent, sauce was sparse, bland toppings sort of distributed haphazardly, and pizza was cut unevenly, not uniformly into 4 large pieces and 2 smallish pieces, very unusual - 3.5. Should have ordered a pizza with sausage instead. SERVICE 4 Service was snappy and efficient and the one bright spot. Dishes were removed when empty. Servers were pleasant and attentive. ATMOSPHERE 3 80’s/90’s classic rock mixed in with Michael Jackson the night. Very strange aesthetic. A bit noisy. OVERALL 3 $180 w/tip for three people for very ordinary food. I would not return because while the portions are generous, the food is plain. This place survives on the overflow of people that don’t want to wait to get into Original Joes or Tony’s.

Date of visit: November 16, 2024 Our server, Marvin, slapped a 20% gratuity onto the bill for a party of 4. Completely unacceptable. Restaurants in California have no right to force tips like this for such a small group. Tips are supposed to be voluntary, not a sneaky add-on shoved into the check. I was ready to leave 20% anyway. but when a place forces it without asking, it feels dishonest and shady. Customers deserve the choice, not to be strong-armed into paying.
