Stepping into the Beanery of Alameda is always a delight. From the moment you walk in, the aroma of superior coffee fills the air, promising a perfect cup every time. What truly sets this place apart, however, is not just the exceptional coffee. The service here is impressively fast, ensuring that even during the busiest hours, you're not kept waiting. The staff are genuinely friendly, making each visit feel personal and welcoming. It's the kind of place where the baristas remember your order after a few visits, which adds a lovely personal touch. The environment is another highlight – clean, cozy, and perfectly conducive to either a quick coffee stop or a longer, leisurely visit with friends or a good book. It's this combination of superb coffee, swift service, warm hospitality, and a spotless setting that makes the Beanery of Alameda a standout. A well-deserved five-star experience that I can't recommend highly enough!

There are several excellent coffee shops in Alameda, and the Beanery is certainly high up on the list! Their espresso drinks are great and consistent, food & pastry selections are varied, and the staff are some of the most sincere folks around. They are my go-to spot for a nice morning brew and occasional fresh beans ☕️

Coleyworld approved! 💜 Best coffee in Alameda for sure! Been coming here for years for the Raspberry White Chocolate Mocha! They also have delicious and freshly made sandwiches! Love walking around the market to pick up a few things after a quick coffee and snack break!

My first time at Beanery of Alameda. Enjoyed a ham and cheese croissant with a caramel frappe! The food was beyond delicious and the frappe was so smooth👏🏼 Last but definitely not least, kuddos to the hospitality. It was so warm and inviting. I can’t wait to visit again all the way from FL.

One of my favorite cafes to go to. Quality large Vietnamese coffee is $5- can’t really beat that.

The Beanery is one of my go-to spots for coffee! The coffee here is always smooth and delicious. I really enjoy their iced and hot oatmilk lattes. Great value for the quality and staff are friendly and efficient.

This is a popular place and it’s no wonder! I have been buy their medium roast house blend coffee by the pound for years. It robust, smooth and delicious. I make my coffee in a percolator and it’s the best. Everything I’ve tried from their baked goods sandwiches has been very good. I mostly go there just for the coffee, however. The staff and service has always been consistent and courteous. I always recommend The Beanery coffee to all my friends.

There's no surprise as to why this place is always busy. I have always said that half of the experience of a food establishment is how you are treated. At this place, the people behind the counter are always friendly and they work fast! I also give them huge kudos for the vast selection of food that they offer. Everything I've tried has been very good. The only thing I have yet to order is coffee to make at home which I can almost bet I am missing out on. We've been coming to this place since forever, and we hope to continue to come here for many more years to come.

Loved this place! I got the mini egg sandwich with spinach and added turkey. It was delicious and nicely presented. The latte I got was also very tasted. Great atmosphere, really nice service. Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a place with good food, coffee, and vibes

The hot and cold beverage options are all fantastic here. The sandwiches and pastry selection is varied and there are specials based on season as well. My current favorite hot beverage is the peppermint bark mocha and cold beverage the Vietnamese coffee. I love the Thai iced tea in the warmer months and that they will make the Vietnamese coffee hot if you request it. The syrup flavor selection is unbelievable and I have enjoyed many different lattea and London fog options as well. The jambon and buerre or brie (ham and butter or brie) sandwich warmed makes for a great breakfast that tides me through the busy work days.

Beanery of Alameda ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4 stars) We stopped in for coffee and really enjoyed our experience. We ordered the Mayan Mocha and the Raspberry White Chocolate Mocha. The Mayan Mocha was excellent—the spice added real depth and made it stand out. The Raspberry White Chocolate Mocha was definitely sweet (as expected), but very good if that’s what you’re in the mood for. I also really appreciate that they offer organic, fair-trade coffee and plenty of milk alternatives. My husband had oat milk, I had coconut milk—both worked well. We split a lox bagel, and even later in the day—when only a few bagel options were left—it was still very fresh and satisfying, especially compared to some other food we’d had elsewhere recently. That was a pleasant surprise. We’ve seen this place quite crowded before (it’s attached to a grocery store we shop at), but it wasn’t busy when we were there. There was plenty of seating. The table we chose was fine, though we did notice several other tables that looked like they hadn’t been wiped down yet—likely just an end-of-day cleanup gap, but worth noting. The vibe was relaxed and comfortable. Customer service wasn’t over-the-top friendly, but it was polite and welcoming—we were greeted when we walked in, which matters to me. If I’m going to spend money on something I could technically make at home, that basic human acknowledgment makes a difference. Overall, it was a really nice date-style stop: good drinks, solid food, a relaxed atmosphere, and a sunny January day to enjoy afterward. This feels like a place we’d come back to.

Breakfast panini is made to order and hot, not always the case so appreciated. The order taker was slightly impatient as this is my first time here and I don’t know this is customizable and didn’t see the options posted. I just said yea to the first 3 things she listed to make it easy: egg, bacon, spinach. It came with provolone cheese.bread was fresh and crusty but no taste and sandwich is fine. Large drip coffee is $3.25 for 20oz and I got dark toast - good. Fine option if you are in the area. Lots of locals here.

One of the best coffe places in Alameda. The coffee is roasted on the premises. Also features a very good selection of pastries and made on the premises sandwiches. Try the Mediterranean sampler featuring house made hummus. Big enough to share.

This an excellent place to hang out, drink a slow cup of coffee, enjoy a snack and enjoy the social milieu for people watching and lots of varied conversations. This is not a place to go to if you are expecting to have table side service. When you order - you need to keep an ear out for your number to be called. On occasion - mistakes have been made with my order (not recently). The menu is simple. The coffee decent.

I've been coming here semi-regularly for about the 6-7 years. Good selections of espresso drinks, fresh pastries, ready made and prepared sandwiches. I've never had any issues with service, either from order-takers or food / drink preparers. Always quick, congenial and ready to step and help if I have any questions. A bit of an average marking on the atmosphere which is not the fault of the good folks that run the place but rather of cliques of regulars who behave as if they are the show.

I ordered an iced matcha latte, and it was too sweet for me to drink, even though I didn't ask for any sugar. And I was sitting there at 3pm when they closed, and one of the workers kicked me out rudely.

Long, loyal customer of the Beanery. Enter today a few minutes after 7am, order 2+ lbs of coffee. It started to get busy, 20 minutes later I asked the status of my order, was told they knew. 20 more minutes later, my order was still not filled as other customer orders were filled. A few minutes later my order was filled but with no apology or acknowledgement. Overall, I spent 50 minutes there, was late for work, my boss was angry with me. I am upset! If local independent business want support, they need to support the people who support them. So, if you go the Beanery be aware it may take forever to get your order. I hope you have that much time.

My second time there. I ordered a simple black coffee and Ham and Brie sandwich. Pretty basic order I suppose. - They made me wait a long time because apparently they understood "Latte coffee" which is impossible I said that because I hate milk in my coffee. They changed my coffee and said they will refund me the difference (Still waiting for the refund). - On my way back home I started eating the sandwich. Some thin paper got incorporated to the melted brie. Brie and paper don't go well together. =) In conclusion, $12.50 for a black coffee + a Ham, paper and brie sandwich is definitely not worth it. I would not recommend that place to anyone.
