Food is very delicious but they need to work on their communication skills if they want to retain their customers. On Google they said they’re open till 4pm. I arrived by 2:45pm and people were sat eating. instead of saying sorry, we have decided to close earlier, they said sorry we don’t have a table! And I look, many tables are available. Then I start walking out, they say you can order takeout which I ended up doing after realizing every other place nearby is closed. Then they said sorry kitchen is closed unless you know right now what do you want. Yes, thankfully I knew 🤭 Funny Christmas tale… Just say hey, we decided to close earlier. They saw my shock so by the time the fifth customer came after me, they learned to apologize and tell them what’s happening! Update: I’m upgrading from 4 to 5 stars because they have been very kind to me adding extra portions into my takeaway boxes as a courtesy for being an older customer.

It was one of the best Chow Mein I ever had. Good portion, generous amount of shrimp too. Highly recommended

Got the Tom Yum XiaoLongBao, DanDan Noodles, Shrimp Toast and cucumber salad. The Tom YUMMY XLB very much resembled classic XLB, but with a subtle twist which was quite nice. Dan Dan Noodles gad a good szechuan peppercorn kick that wasn’t too intense - but really the texture of the noodles were superb. Cucumber salad has a really good sesame oil taste, and was made even better with some chili crisps on top. Shrimp youtiao was also really good, the mayo on top i could take it or leave it, but also goes good with chili oil.

We tried around a dozen dishes and enjoyed them all. Highly recommend the green beans, scallion pancake and beef noodle. Legimitate tastes of Taiwan!

We had a great dinner! Walked in with no reservation and the food came extremely fast. We had the Dan Dan Noodles, the chicken and three favor dumpling, the siu mai and the Xiao Long Bao. Everything was extremely good (I really enjoyed the noodles, they’re very spicy but so tasty). I will definitely come back. Edit: Also forgot to add that the staff was very friendly and welcoming

Such a fun place! We ordered a bunch of different things including pork soup dumplings, Thai soup dumplings, waygu dumplings, shrimp dumplings, green beans, edamame, and pork dan dan. Everything was amazing!! Our favorites were the green beans and Thai soup dumplings. After the meal ended I just wanted more of those!! Service was quick. You order on an app, they bring the dishes out as they are ready and you pay at the end. It is a hustle and bustle place when we went so if you are looking for a calm place, I wouldn't say this is it. If you are in the mood for a feast of the eyes and taste buds, go and enjoy!

A delicious spot for dumplings (and more!) in cow hollow . Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs, but the dumplings were all delicious. We also ordered the dan dan noodles, 3 flavor dumplings, spicy xlb, along with the wonton soup and steamed pork buns (not pictured) - all of which were scrumptious. The dough used for the dumplings is really tasty and the chili oil on the table is a great compliment to everything! Nice sake selection and friendly service. They are brand new and well worth the visit. Be patient (read:kind) with them being new. So happy to have a quality dumpling spot (with reasonable prices) in the neighborhood!

Really yummy dishes! I highly recommend this restaurant if you like dishes like Dan Dan Noodles and dumplings. We sat at the table close to the restroom and kitchen, maybe that's why the atmosphere wasn't too great.

Food was delicious. XLB were flavorful and juicy, skins not too thick. Staff was overly kind as they are still getting in the groove of operations.

Two of us went here for dinner and had a really nice time, tasting some of the tasty Chinese dishes. The food order process is very neat. You scan the QR code on the table and order food through your mobile phone. Then, the waiter will bring food to your table. You pay at the end. We ordered a pot of jasmine tea, beef fried rice, shrimp chow mein, combination bao buns and spicy shrimp dumplings. Everything was very tasty and good portion sizes. If you are in San Francisco looking for great Chinese food, I have no hesitations recommending Dumpling Union. Thank you 😊

January 1st 2023: Craved noodles and dumplings on New Year's Day. Glad that dumpling union was open! Started with the fish dumplings. Tasted very good 👍. Used the sesame oil as the dipping sauce. Ordered the green beans that was nicely cooked. Also tried the pork soup dumplings. They were really good. The dipping sauce was a little skimpy on the ginger... But just a minor negative. Lastly, we tried the Dan Dan noodles. The noodles were tasty. Nice texture. Sauce was pretty good. Overall, I enjoyed my lunch and would come back again.

Dumpling Union had a cozy fun vibe. I have been enjoying various dishes with friends, family members, or by myself. My favorite dishes here were the Garlic Green Beans, Fried Chicken was yummy and the vegetable dumplings were amazingly yummy. While ordering food was pleasantly effortless through an app by scanning the QR code on the table. We need to call the server for attention to refill the hot water for the teapot as this place gets filled up quickly. For big groups, I would recommend making a reservation to ensure you got the table.

This place is cool, creative takes on dumplings, tom yum xiao long bao and mapo tofu dumplings were really good and fun, crab XLB also good, cool stuff you won’t necessarily find elsewhere!

A

XLB review- pork, spicy pork, and tom yum flavors were all tasty with a good amount of soup in each, however half the skins were broken! They must be using the foil trays to keep the dumping shape and prevent the soup from leaking, which worked. Pretty standard SF pricing at ~1.83/soup dumpling at a tiny local shop vs Ding Tai Fung $2/piece.

Ordered takeout — went with the pork, cabbage, and onion dumplings. They traveled surprisingly well; still soft and juicy when I got home. The flavor was solid — savory filling with a nice balance between pork and cabbage — though nothing that completely blew me away. Overall, a dependable dumpling spot if you’re craving something comforting and straightforward. Nothing fancy or over-the-top, but it definitely hits the spot. I’d order again, especially for a quick and easy meal.

The food came out very fast, it was good. I did find a hair in my green beans which made me not finish my last few bites. The cucumbers were disappointing so maybe skip those. I will say the restaurant itself needs a good cleaning. The walls are filthy and dusty, and the vents are packed shut with dirt/lint.

The server was a superwoman. She was manning most of the restaurant on her own. The food was mixed, not great compared to other dumpling spots. Item by item 1. Prawn chow mein was great 2. Cucumber salad was too saucy 3. Pork dumplings were pretty good 4. Beef dumplings were a little bland 5. Miso soup was fine

Great service! Table was a little crowded with water and sodas… had to scan the QR CODE to place the order. Not pictured I also got the chicken dumplings which were my favorite. The shrimp fried rice was good except it had a lot of lettuce. The dumplings were pretty good and juicy. The mayonnaise shrimp hit a little different because the mayonnaise had wasabi mixed in it so gave it a flavor we were not expecting… only thing we had left over was the mayonnaise shrimp. First time here paid $78 cans of soda were $4 each a little pricey gouging a little on the drinks, that’s why they get a 4 star all around. I would recommend!

Tasty noodles and selection of dumplings. Really liked the wide variety of options on the menu. The shrimp chow mein were delicious. However, the beef fried rice was bland. Bao buns were also more like dumplings. Was pretty chilly in the restaurant as the automatic door keeps opening, but a nice vibe inside. Washroom is pretty clean.

This place is quite affordable so me and my friends tried most of the stuff on the menu in one go. The xiao long bao and dumplings are spectacular, especially the spicy ones. We also tried the potstickers, fried bun and the crab rolls and everything was delicious. I would warn that the food takes a long time to come which was a bit annoying since every portion took about 15-20’ and we ordered almost sequentially. Still, the online ordering system and paying at the end made for an enjoyable experience. Also one of the waiters was annoyed at us for not knowing how to properly eat the xiao long bao and we got angry looks so i guess make sure u know how to eat them.

I had an ok meal here. I ordered dumplings, vegetarian dandan noodles, and green beans. The service was quick, even during dinner time. The dumpling portions were good, but the filling was too watery, which resulted in a bland taste. The veggie version of the dandan noodles was solid. The green beans were well cooked and seasoned. Overall, it's a fine experience at a good value.

I ordered the beef noodle soup and the 8-piece eggplant & pork boiled dumplings for dinner. The dumplings arrived first about 10 minutes after I sent in the order. The dumplings arrived hot but cool down really fast, so dig in before they get cold and the skin hardens. I couldn’t really taste the eggplant but I did feel the consistency of it with the pork. Flavor is light but I’d like more of the meat flavor to come out. I doused the dumplings in chili oil. The beef noodle soup came out about five minutes after the dumplings arrived. The soup was hot and fresh. The noodles were pretty good and cooked well for the most part, I did find a very small tangle of noodle that was stuck together. There were a handful of greens in the soup, which were good to give some crunch to your chews. Beef stew quality is above average (C+/B-), not too fatty but can still chew pieces of good meat. Soup base flavor is good and what I expected, no surprise spices or herbs added.

So I work around the corner from this place and usually I have a great experience but the last two times I went I encountered a female cashier who was kinda rude and she kind of made me feel like I didn't belong there or they don't want my business when I arrived she was outside pouring water as I entered the restaurant she steps in front of me and asked me what can she do for me with her back turned to me so as she's walking in and I'm walking behind her I explained to her back that I was just coming to pick some food up that I ordered. So she went to get the food and came back to the counter. I just got paid so I only had a $100 bill but my food was $32 so I really didn't think nothing of it. so when I handed her the 100 she starts looking everywhere for the money pin to mark the bill to see if its real even though it has the blue strip on it. It made me feel so uncomfortable and offended because I go there all the time I work right around the corner. And I was thinking why would I go to your restaurant with $100 bill and show my face and pull up in my own car with a fake hundred. So she verified that it was real I asked her if I can have some soy sauce then she says it's already three in the bag how many more do you want? At that point I was ready to take my hundred dollars back and go somewhere else.

We were in town visiting from Atlanta and since we saw this place mentioned on a YouTuber’s page that we follow, we decided to visit. Unfortunately, we were disappointed that we went out of our way to eat here:( We didn’t like the coldness of the employees demeanor. They were very stoic, very, to-the-point and not welcoming at all. We run businesses in Atlanta and were just appalled at how apathetic the one woman was who was yelling out at everyone as they entered. The waitress basically yells out as you enter- asking how many people, then tells you to take a seat and scan the code to view the menu. All hands off. The digital menu viewing was fine- they just lack basic customer service principles and that is at the heart of all successful businesses. So I did not enjoy my experience here. The food was lackluster as well. Water served from tap- no ice. Just BLAH. Everything was BLAH. Decor. Blah. Bathrooms- untidy and needed to be cleaned. BLAH. We were not thanked once we paid the check- she just took the money and turned around and walked off! The audacity! No thank you, no kindness or attempt to show gratitude to the customer- horrible attitude. They were just slightly rude and the vibe was just not good. We Would not recommend or return. I had the shrimp fried rice and the shrimp was undercooked and the rice was just plain- just BLAH. 2 stars is reaching. Wasted an afternoon finding this place. There are much better Asian restaurants in the area and over near Japan Town. Whoever owns this place needs to really put these employees through some serious customer service training in order to teach them the value of connecting with customers and creating community. That really goes a long way.

Worst “grandmas pork” dumplings I’ve ever had. Pork tasted raw and had an awful flavor. You can tell the dough isn’t made in house either. Would not recommend at all

You need to learn to respond not only to customers who come to the restaurant, but also to delivery drivers. They don't even bother to respond to the driver who came to make the delivery.

I just paid over $40 for this food to be delivered to me in my hotel. It’s absolutely inedible. Both the rice and the kung pao chicken taste like chemicals - like someone sprayed Lysol on them or something. I ordered through Uber Eats which does not offer any kind of refund for crap food. Do not order carry out from this place - it’s disgusting. It’s also poorly packaged and arrived dripping greasy oil out of the bottom of the bag which is now on the table in my hotel room and I have no reasonable way to clean it without ruining towels. The potstickers are tasteless and soggy. I couldn’t be more disappointed or grossed out than I am.
