Equator Coffee Alameda Reviews
Great spot. Great coffee. That lavender 🪻 latte is quite delicious and they do serve the famous Boichik Bagels 🥯 here which was a nice treat. Outdoor seating only and can be limited. Regardless, the coffee and the people who work there will brighten your day.
This is a really nice spot for some fun food and coffee or tea. It's outside but covered so I can enjoy the sun without getting burned. You can dine in or take out. I has bacon quiche and a butterfly pea tea with sparkling lemonade. Seems busy but not crowded, fun guests! I felt very welcomed here. Will definitely be back to try more stuff.
Omg this special today the almond latte with coconut gold foam was amazing!!!!
Gorgeous spot and a great iced americano. There are heat lamps so you can enjoy sitting outdoors (among their succulents) without getting cold.
The homemade chai is great!
Very nice place to get a coffee. Nice well done brewed the coffee.

Great coffee! We liked the habibi latte!
Great espresso before Fairy Land and the kid ate the whole gooey croissant. Thanks for being there!
I go to a bunch of Equators, but this one is my fave. The staff here are outstanding, for having to work in a modified shipping container. Constantly cheery, they just crank out the outstanding coffee, every morning. You can't do better if you are looking for coffee in Oakland.
Speaking as someone who's extremely picky about their coffee, I had two phenomenal cups of coffee two days in a row. And the barrista remembered my name on the second day. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Oakland.

Cute little booth! Great vibe in this lovely weather!
Ok so. This location is outdoors only. Went here one day wanting to cozy up and get away from the rain with a cup of joe in my hand. Turns out, my first time here I had no idea this is the worst place to do that. On a nice day the outdoor seating is a VIBE, but unfortunately, if the weather is terrible, I don’t enjoy waiting outside for my coffee while the wind chills my bones. So I give the atmosphere a 3/5 because in the Bay Area the weather can be a bit chilly without notice. Also. I really hope they hear me when I say they need more options than just a 10oz and a 16oz. I am a 12oz girlie till I die!! And I hate that the 10oz is too little liquid for me and the 16oz is too much and tastes watered down. Fun fact, it’s the same albur of espresso shots in both sizes, the 16oz just has more milk, unless you pay extra for another shot. So to me the 16oz is a watered down lightweight latte unless I want to spend $10 on my latte and add more shots etc. The milk here is organic though!!! They use Strauss Organic which is a HUGE plus. I’m always looking for places with organic coffee and organic milk and I really appreciate that about Equator.
Tried the Autumn Spice Latte with 2 shots of espresso, steamed milk, and pumpkin syrup made from real pumpkin puree and spices. The taste was alright, giving off those festive holiday vibes. However, I'll likely stick to my favorite Habibi Latte next time.

Solid place for pastries and coffees! The staff is really friendly. Only downside is there is often a wait. Sometimes its only 5 mins and sometimes it’s 10+ minutes, but I rarely (if ever) have just walked up and ordered a drink and got it made right away. It clearly shows they make great coffee but I also wish they had a way to increase production. I never thought of 11:30 AM as peak hours but I guess it is here. I also wish they offered punch cards, I come A LOT! Update re: wait time. Its often 15 minutes these days which I dont understand because they have so many people back there. :/

I come here for drip coffee and the FIREBRAND baked goods :) I nearly never get an espresso drink because the service is so slow. I think they should prioritize in-person orders before online orders, because you end up waiting around for a very long time if you place your order in person. For drip coffee, though, very speedy and good quality stuff! Nice little outdoor seating area, good vibes. In the winter you can ask them to turn on the heater too.

Delicious tasting vegan coffee lattes, iced or hot. Friendly staff and great pick up service. Edit: recently came here in July 2025, and stood at the window to try to make an order, and all 3 staff inside ignored me. Left pretty disappointed. Not going to go back when there's plenty of other coffee shops in the area.
This review is specifically for this location only. There is no consistency in the way they make my favorite drink, which is the lavender oat milk latte. I am never disappointed at the locations in Sausalito, Marina, and downtown San Francisco. I even wish they opened in Berkeley. There’s homeless people feeding cats here in this location and there’s dog poop everywhere. The baristas are constantly talking, so the line to get my coffee is more than 15 to 20 minutes and when I get my coffee, it’s a hit and miss. Emphasis on inconsistency, poor time management, and the environment is lacking upkeep and cleanliness. The wash station barely has them walking through to wash their hands after touching money or picking up some thing that dropped on the floor. So buyer beware, this location disappointed..
I really wanted to like this place, but after multiple visits, I just can't recommend it. I order an iced oat cappuccino – 2 oz of espresso, 6 oz of oat milk, and iced (aka short iced oat latte). Unfortunately, they don't add ice and lightly steam the drink, which ruins the taste. It ends up lukewarm and undrinkable. As a barista with 10 years of experience, I know it’s not a difficult drink to execute, and shops like Red Bay and Mother Tongue consistently get it right. I tried giving this place another chance, but the drink came out wrong again. The staff often act like I'm being difficult for asking for what should be a fairly basic order. I hope they can improve, but for now, I won't be returning.
Firebrand pastries, yum! Great atmosphere but the subpar service detracts from it. Wait staff can be rude and unwelcoming, they're slow yet rush to throw out orders; check yours for accuracy before you leave. Even the convenience of their location does not encourage return visits.
I love this place and come here most days. The staff is wonderful. However, I wonder if the owner pays them enough because they have a hard time keeping staff. They’re great people and deserve to be paid well. Update: So not coming back. There is one individual who has not made an order for me, made a latte with very little liquid in it, and given me a remake with dairy instead of oat milk, which can make me very sick. Used to love this place and now it’s not worth the price. I don’t want to pay to be disappointed.

FOOD SAFETY CONCERN!! I had been going to the OAKLAND BAY STREET location about 3x times every week for the past 4 years (tipping every single time), BUT I will never go back. I reported this concern to Equator Coffees (Tina Malouf) but she ghosted me and as far as I know did not take ANY action as she had promised. Here's what happened: I saw a male supervisor SPIT into my bagel. No joke! Then, when he gave me the bagel he said with a smirk, the cream cheese is runny today. Instead of dealing with the employee. I contacted Tina to resolve this matter without the intention of not going public and as I mentioned, NOTHING WAS DONE. Be warned, FOOD SAFETY and CUSTOMER SERVICE is of no concern to this company.
