Florio Bar & Café Alameda Reviews
Florio is a grounded, Italian-leaning San Francisco bistro that sticks to fundamentals done well. The Steak au Poivre was our anchor dish and comes with a brandy peppercorn sauce that delivers on pepper and depth not cream. The olive oil cake was excellent and closed out the meal without any heaviness. The room is warm, service is steady. Reliable, classic, and worth returning.
My friend and I felt immediately comfortable in Florio Bar & Cafe. This welcoming restaurant is nicely appointed. The Brussel Sprouts were exceptional. The Fresh Roasted Eggplant and Goat Cheese Ravioli boasted complex flavors that scintillated the palate. The service and presentation of each dish was perfect. Oh, and the dessert we shared, an Olive Oil cake, (not pictured) was delicious. I look forward to returning to this restaurant. Update from recent visit on a Saturday night: The food and service is still top notch, but wow, the restaurant ambient noise sure is loud on a Saturday night!
5 stars for everything. We booked a reservation online for a group of 7 night before Saturday dinner. We were pleasantly surprised to be seated in a private dining area, which made the dinner special. The food tasted like it was made with care. The service was wonderful too.
Excellent food, attentive service and great atmosphere, can’t wait to go back!
Nice little cocktail bar. Killer drinks and vibes. Really cool, beautiful from the curb appeal alone!
Food was great, service was superb. Romantic ambiance even with outdoor dinning.
Fast, fresh and delicious! Relaxed and warm ambiance. Lovely jazz, kind staff. Love this place!

Nice, relaxed friendly restaurant with beautiful bar. Excellent food (some of the best Moules I've eaten) and absolutely outstanding service. Good drink selection (although maybe could use some more beer options) - extensive wine list and very good cocktails.
Florio feels like a franco-italian brasserie was plucked out of a Paris neighborhood and dropped onto Fillmore. The bouillabaisse is a standout, and if there's a dud on the menu, we never found it.
We stopped in for drinks at Florio and were charmed by the neighborhood friendliness. Everyone was nice and down to earth, not like the usual San Fran smugness. The menu looked wonderful, and I wished we dined here rather than the fancy place up the street where our reservation was. I wish Florio was opened for lunch, but we’ll go back for apps tonight before we meet friends for dinner.
This neighborhood gem offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it the ideal spot to unwind. With a diverse selection of delicious food options and an impressive wine list, it’s a place you’ll want to return to again and again.
My husband and I dine out alot in the city, and frequently at Florio and we find the restaurant to be one of our favorites. First, the food, be it steak, pasta or fish is always superb. The wait staff are experienced and very friendly. The bartender is skilled with traditional drinks and the exotic. It is a great venue for celebrations. Nick
I frequently visited this local restaurant, then moved to Marin for 9 years and just returned. The adept host, John, remembered me as well as Tara, one of the bartenders and several of the staff. They all welcomed me back. The fact that many of the staff members have stayed for years tells you that customers are happy because the staff is as well and always welcomes new and regular guests (and tourists) with the same warm and polite greetings. The food now is even better. Try the mushroom/celery salad. Fabulous. The chicken is expertly prepared, as are all the steak options. The tempting wine options and perfect cocktails are always available in a friendly bar scene, even if you’re alone.

There are several restaurants in SF that make “simple” dishes extremely well. Florio is one of them. Both trout and steak frittes were excellent. The atmosphere is not as warm as I like it.

Everything was pretty good. Particularly the arancini appetizer and the Fillmore East cocktail. Service was fantastic and a nice date vibe. Only slight gripe is entree price was a bit high for quality and portion size, but overall very good.
I have visited Florio Bar and Cafe in San Francisco many times. The cozy atmosphere is inviting, and the food is delicious, even when they're out of brussels sprout. The service is attentive and friendly, though the noise level can be high on busy nights. Prices are a bit steep, and occasional discrepancies on the final bill can occur. Despite this, the overall quality makes it worthwhile. While many reviews mention issues with the service and the bartender, I have never had any problems.

Nice atmosphere and attentive server, somewhat surly host. Had wanted to stop in for months. Chicken Milanese special was decent not great somewhat dry breaded and reasonable in size and quantity but average in taste quality. The killer was the Romain salad, which was probably 2 ounces of Romain lettuce with some cheese, sprinkled on top and three croutons for $16. That felt like we were being taken to the bank. Wines by the glass were of decent quality, and we own a wine bar so we’re very much aware but small in size probably around 4 ounces a pour though there were at least a few selections to choose from by the Glass, which was a nice plus.

They didn’t want my money, I guess. I showed up hoping to get drinks and food at the bar. The bar was full (except for maybe one stray seat—we needed two). We stood at the bar, wanting to order drinks to sip while waiting for seats to open up—we saw one group paying a check. The bartender told us harshly that no one was leaving any time soon and there “really isn’t any standing room.” Another fellow seated at the bar said he’d be done in 5 or 10 but we said no need. TBH I’d rather just be told directly and politely that they’re full instead of the passive aggression we got. We went to the Tailor’s Son instead and got better treatment. 🤷🏻♀️
We left before even sitting at the bar when the barman welcomed us by saying we were not welcomed where we got seated. He didn't even bother giving us a menu and made a face when we asked for one. We prefer to spend our money where we are welcome. We went to SPQR next door and had the best time!!!
