I’ve been coming here a long time, my fave place to get a latte when I am not making them at home. Today the latte art delivered an unexpected and delightful heart-headed swan so I had to take a photo, which in return reminded me I was overdue leaving a 5 star review. I understand the safety reason behind them no longer offering the toasted Boichik bagels, but as a savory not a sweet person I really do miss being able to get a snack here to go with my coffee.

This small little coffee shop has excellent service and a delicious latte. It was just right for a stopover on our bike trip along the beach. There is some space to sit outside to enjoy your coffee and the neighborhood. Inside they are having a fun little Polaroid photo exhibition.

Highwire Coffee Roasters in Alameda delivers excellent crafted coffee. Whether you have it to stay or to go it’s delicious every time. Cappuccino are immaculate!

Searching for a quick coffee spot, I came upon this rather innocuous yet quaint coffee shop, not expecting much. But two things stood out to me as I ordered. The service and the drink itself. The man who took my order, Curt (who dawned some very cool apron pins), was patient, kind, and swiftly prepared my beverage. As for the latte I ordered, it was milky and not overly sweet, and the beans are incredibly delicious, and the caffeine boost is noticeably present. The focus on the drink and service made my first visit quick and pleasant. I would absolutely recommend a drink from here for anyone who is looking for coffee. 10/10

Best coffee I've had in a long while. Pastries are excellent too, and you can opt to enjoy them at one of the tables out front--coffee tastes better when it's not in a paper cup.

We stumbled upon this hidden gem in Alameda and were absolutely blown away! The smooth cortado and almond latte were some of the best we’ve ever had—rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. Pairing them with a vegan cream bagel and croissant was a delight, but honestly, the coffee was the true star. The barista was professional and clearly passionate about their craft, adding an extra layer of care to every cup. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with kind people all around. This spot is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates exceptional coffee and great vibes. We’ll definitely be back!

One of my favorite coffee spots in Alameda. My test is always, do I need to add sweetner to this drink? At Highwire, the coffee is so smooth and they froth the milk just right to bring out the natural sweetness, you don't need to add a thing. Very friendly staff also.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hidden Gem in Alameda! This small coffee spot is a true hidden gem! I had the best almond latte—smooth, flavorful, and simply perfect. The barista is a pro and clearly the star of the show, using top-quality beans that I couldn’t resist buying to take home. If you’re in Alameda, don’t miss this place!

My favorite coffee chain in the bay. This is just top notch coffee. The staff is extremely friendly in this location. Considerations: Nowhere to sit really except for a small bench as you wait for you coffee, and usually no place to park right in front.

Very friendly staff, great rotating seasonal offerings, scrumptious baked goods, garland of Polaroids of peoples cute pets. This place is 10/10. Always consistent and I’m never disappointed walking out with my coffee.

My favorite coffee on the island and where I go when I want a special treat. The lattes are incredible. Staff are rad. They also have gluten free snacks pretty often.

My condolences, Mrs. Sharpie was a hard working and valued member of the crew. She may be gone but she'll never be forgotten.

My daughter's preschool was on Park St, which made it easy to pick up breakfast at Highwire on the walk back after dropping her off. Now that she's in kindergarten I don't have the easy excuse to drop by as often, but still try to make it when I can. Even with coming by much less frequently the staff still remember my name, which I find amazing given how bad I am at names, and the service is always friendly and prompt even when they're busy. I especially like the seasonal drinks, and my daughter loves the apple juice. My go-to is usually one of the seasonal drinks and a bagel and cream cheese or these muffins they have that have an egg inside (did I mention I'm bad with names?).

Really enjoying going to this local coffee shop in Alameda. The staff are the main factor as to why I choose Highwire Coffee. They are super friendly and welcoming. The only down side is I tend to always show up for a bag of coffee when they are out. I personally prefer light roast coffee which they have and recently learned that they get their shipment of coffee bags on Tuesday around 1pm (fyi). Can’t say anything about their espresso drink as I have yet to order one but worth stopping by and trying and experiencing such friendly coffee staff.

Great spot for a mocha! No real internal seating but there are a few chairs outside.

I'm pretty bummed to be writing this but something's changed in the last few months. Every oat milk espresso based drink I've ordered (and I've tried three different ones) has been mediocre to undrinkable. Something changed, clearly. Service, atmosphere, beans, non oatmilk stuff is still solid but something has really deteriorated in the oatmilk space here. I'm so sad cause for YEARS this was THE spot for an iced oatmilk mocha on a hot day and a hot one on cold days. I thought it was just the mochas, but alas even lattes with oatmilk just taste...off. I hope there's improvement but probably can't keep trying over and over or that'll just lead to insanity for me. BY THE WAY, THIS DOESN'T APPLY TO MONTCLAIR OR ROCKRIDGE. WHICH IS WHY I'M EVEN MORE CONFUSED. Edit 2/11/26: Never mind, regular mocha sucked too. Unsure what's going on, just has no oomph and pretty much no depth to the pull. Maybe it's the machine itself, maybe it's me. Sigh.

This review is ONLY for Alameda. Do not, I repeat, do not order a matcha latte from here. The quality has gone down considerably. The matcha used to be whisked perfectly and when combined with milk, the drink used to be decadent and smooth. The pictures are posted with this review However, the drink I received today was watery, as if the milk was simply heated up and the matcha was dumped in without any whisking. I also tasted TOO MUCH matcha, as if I was drinking a tall, cold glass of grass. Their customer service has also lacked. They take no phone calls and when I called to inform them their online ordering system did not work and asked when it would be fixed, two people said “Oh, we know it’s down, we don’t know what to do about it”. I’ll continue supporting Coffee and Tea Traders with better customer service and certainly, A MORE DELICIOUS MATCHA LATTE.
