So good. They roast I don't know how many turkeys every morning. If you want the best turkey sandwich ever this is the place

K

They make, by far, the best Turkey (baked on site every morning!) Sandwich on the Island, the country, the world! Ok maybe that's a little overboard lol. Trust me, they make a darn good sandwich!

T

Yum and quick and you get what you pay for in the best way. If I lived here, I'd definitely be a regular at this place. Two weeks in the area for work and I came here twice, which is saying a lot. Dependable and friendly customer service.

They always do such a great job. Ordered for my job and they had all 8 sandwiches correct and picture perfect.

This place is a gem! Great sandwich. Quick service. Clean. Value for your money. Will be returning sure.

Best turkey sammy! Even better than homemade the morning after Thanksgiving.

The best sandwiches hand down, well worth their price. Great customer service especially Carlos. Who is not always in the forefront, but is in the back cooking extremely tasty turkeys.

Fresh baked turkey every day makes for a great sandwich. If you're in Alameda you must go get a sandwich.

Roast turkey sandwiches are what you go here for! They roast whole turkeys every day they're open and it makes for a tasty sandwich. There are other choices available, but I always go for a turkey based sandwich, Jeff's special is my personal fave. Limited hours, so it's a day time food choice.

Owe my goodness the sandwiches there are the best sandwich. Fresh and yummy the soup is great! I have been going there for the past 30 or may 40 years...Damn that's a long time The owner is an incredibly awesome man! The WORLD need more business owners like him!!!👍🦋✌💜

The Sandwich Board serves the absolute best BLT I have ever had, and it's why I always go back there. Their turkey and pastrami sandwiches are also great, but I go back because their bacon is amazing.

It the greaest place to have a sandwich from the eviorment to service to menue. Also, its rate aa one best sandwich shops in Alameda with great owner, treats his staff and customers with famile value as suppose just as a employ or patren!☆

I'm a turkey sandwich girl so this off-Park place that roasts their own turkey daily is the best around. Want that Thanksgiving-leftover-sandwich in April? Look no further. So good!

Probably one of my favorite sandwich shops to date right there with Genova's in Oakland. The edge is that the Board has the best turkey in town and the staff is incredibly nice and consistant with making the sandwiches the same each time. Not once throughout my high school years up to now have I had a messy constructed sandwich. Rich's Special all the way!!!

Kind of a small, funky looking from the outside, but the sandwiches are actually great! Plan on getting it to go, because there's not really much seating. Good selection of drinks and chips as well.

The best turkey sandwiches anywhere! Turkey is cooked fresh every day and they even offer cranberry sauce.

I'm still going here since the 80's bc you won't find a fresher, more packed with all white turkey meat at $7 anywhere....family owned, Michael is a great guy, they cool off their turkeys right inside the screen door of the kitchen it's baked.....only a couple tables but it is known as takeout..can't be beat !!!

If you want a real sandwich this place will take care of you. Always fast and friendly service. The meat cuts are solid, veggies fresh and crisp and the bread soft and fresh

Is there like more stars to give this place. I've had several different sandwiches with different breads and cheese combo's. Very savory sandwiches. Been coming here for over 30 years. True.

My favorite sandwich place. This is the only place using freshly roasted turkey meat, NOT processed meat to make the sandwich. So fresh and delicious.

This family-owned sandwich shop has been a neighborhood staple for over thirty years. The owner and staff are consistently kind, helpful, and efficient. While the menu is simple, it features a standout turkey salad sandwich, in addition to other classics like pastrami, roast beef, vegetarian, and egg salad sandwiches. Although parking can be a challenge, the food is well worth the trip.

Found this place on Google and got their specials ! We enjoyed it . The Dutch crunch bread was soft and all the ingredients seem fresh! You can choose which kind of turkey meat you want , dark or white . Will go there again! 2 sandwiches 2 chips , 2 drinks around $32 .

Webster street sure has changed since Alameda was a Navy town! Places like the Sandwich Board have replaced Navy bars, girly joints and tattoo shops that fronted for other things that go bump-bump! So, I whipped into the Sandwich Board to see if anything looked the same...it doesn't, but I'll tell you what..The Sandwich Board kicks out a screaming good sandwich! ☆☆☆☆☆

I got a smoked turkey sandwich on Dutch crunch and *typically* they can’t toast the Dutch crunch bread but they said they would try for me and it came out soooo good. This was perfect for a post-gym meal.

Quite possibly the best sandwich place in Alameda. The turkey is roasted in house, not processed! Get the Jeff's special!

This place is a true sandwich paradise! The staff was incredibly kind and efficient, making sure my order was exactly as I wanted. I went for their grilled chicken pesto sandwich, and it was beyond delicious! The chicken was juicy, the pesto fresh and flavorful, and the bread had that perfect crispiness. Every bite was a delight. The ambiance was modern and clean, with a laid-back atmosphere that made me want to stay longer. Whether you're here for a quick lunch or a casual dinner, the experience is top-tier. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates a well-made sandwich!

I’m in love with their mix meat turkey sandwiches like the turkey club or Susan’s special in their Dutch crunch ! The turkey is always so moist and tender and bread is chef’s kiss. I have it at least twice a week!! Mike and the ladies here are also so sweet and efficient 💛

Hand carved turkey and produce that looks like it was picked from the field just minutes ago. Fresh slabs of American cheese, cranberry and generous portions of turkey on their Colonel Jim sandwich is why I keep coming back..the ladies there are hard working and you can tell they take pride in their business and care about their customers. If I'm driving the 880 best Alameda and want a sandwich this is my go to spot.

The very best sandwiches in the bay. Absolutely hooked! No nonsense, no stupid iPad that asks you for a 30% tip, no inflated prices and shrunken food. This little sandwich shop makes delicious sandwiches the same way they have for decades. It feels like a little gem stuck in time. I fell in love at first bite and continue to frequent this place.

My second time visiting Sandwich Board! They are a family owned business and have been around for more than 50 years?! I think it’s more actually. They specialize in “fresh” turkey. No preservatives and they make their own bread. I love all the specials they have and will absolutely go back during my lunch.

Great sandwiches! No frills! Just awesome food. They roast their turkey daily and you can choose light, dark or mixed on your sandwich. I prefer mixed on marbled rye (who has marbled rye?!?!) with everything! 😊 Always satisfied after a sangwich from Sandwich Board 😁😁😁♥️

Order ahead, to go. Their heated Reuben sandwich is wonderful! Parking in area is really horrible! If possible, go 2 to a car so someone can run in and grab the food.

Really good sandwhich, prices have risen a lot though since my last visit. Nowadays they are charging 10 to 11 for their turkey delight. Which is pretty expensive for a sandwhich. However I will stress that it is an excellent sandwhich. Make sure to get mixed meat. (White and dark turkey meat)

M

The pastrami and corned beef is what I go for here. I've had the turkey which they roast in house but it was dry and bland and I had the dark meat. Skip it and get pastrami or corned beef.

We ordered sandwiches over the phone and picked them up. It's a tiny place with no seating inside, so prepare to take your orders to go. Since we were picking up lunch to take to the airport, we were not able to try the sandwiches until much later. They still tasted good, but the time delay didn't give us the freshest experience. We ordered 3 Jeff Specials (Turkey, Bacon, and Cheddar) and a Reuben Sandwich. We asked for Rye bread on the Reuben, but it came with a different kind of bread. Must have been a miscommunication over the phone. The employees were nice when we came for pick-up. Lots of chips and drinks available to choose from inside.

Favorite sandwich in Alameda. Sandwich Board is family owned with fresh roasted Turkey made daily. My favorite sandwiches on the menu are the Roast Turkey Delight and the Susan's Special (Turkey, Bacon, Cranberry, Jack). Mine is cool and the lines get long but he and his team move people through quickly. There’s a few tables outside and parking options include street parking and the lot lot around the corner.

Had hi expectations from all the 5 star reviews. But the first thing I noticed was only metered parking and not much of it. So don't believe reviews that say otherwise. Then the awful smell! Shop smelled intensely of rancid grease. But you can't eat inside so I ordered anyway. Jeff's Special; no mayo. The ingredients were fresh and the sandwich thick. Service was pleasant and quick and they didn't ask for an electronic tip as you order (good old fashioned service!). The Dutch Crunch bread seemed a bit dry but maybe it's suppose to be that way. My first visit. Since I don't work or live near Park St, it was out of my way. I probably won't be back for awhile. Hope they get better ventilation inside. At least some fans.

I went here because of the reviews, and my sandwich was really good. The only thing that grossed me out was seeing while I was paying that they had someone counting out the register money with stacks of dollar bills and coins on the sandwich board! Money is notoriously germy. If I'd seen that before ordering I might not have!

H
Harrison Wahlstrom

Let me start by saying that the sandwiches are real tasty. However, I do have some issues with how the place handles business. The owner put a cutout of an article on the wall about how he was fighting an ADA (American Disabilities Act) lawsuit, which is a weird thing to be proud of. Also, every time I visit there is some sort of organizational issue (i.e. my friend ordered soup, which was promoted on a sign, tasted awful and no employee could find a spoon or even knew where one would be. Many times, something couldn't be wrung up at the register etc). I've worked enough jobs in the service industry to know that those problems stem from leadership, who may want to reconsider their priorities. I might return to see if things improve, but it will be hard to feel good about going back.

“Hot” sandwich just means marginally heating up the cold cut and cheese. Saddest reuben I’ve ever had for a place with such high reviews. Couldn’t even tell it was corned beef it was so sliced thin.

T

It was an hour before closing, so not sure if they just ran out of ingredients, but my cheese sandwich had literally two slices of cheese and the most pathetic shreds of lettuce I’ve ever seen. I felt sad while eating it. Sad for me, sad for the little sandwich that couldn’t, sad for the Sandwich Board.
