Mikawa Alameda Reviews
I think mikawa may be the best sushi place in the neighborhood. I have also eaten at Sapporo and Momo's test kitchen, but I think Mikawa, for a late night dinner that is slightly more upscale, is the best bang for your buck and has the best sushi rolls. Me and my wife have come here for a number of years now, and they never dissapoint. I also think the 7407 roll is the best sushi rolls I've had. It's a roll with avocado, shrimp, Sriracha on top!, and some fish (can't remember what, but its good). They also do a great set of desserts, like key lime pie and fried ice cream. For appetizers, the edamame and steamed veggies gyoza are always a hit with my family and our plates are always clean after eating here. I think the special rolls are slightly pricey, but worth it (like the 7407). The normal rolls, like Boston Rolls, are priced at great value of around 6-7 bucks, while the special rolls can vary from 13 - 17. Finally, they offer $2.50 beer like Sapporo, which is a crazy price. A normal size bottle as well! Come here for sushi, they do a fantastic job!
This is my GO TO sushi spot!!! I really enjoy the food and the quality they serve. I've sat down multiple times and ordered a few times as well, it never disappoints! The service is amazing and this place definitely doesn't get enough attention it deserves. The restaurant is usually empty with a lot of orders but I enjoy dining in and showing my support for small businesses and tipping the waitresses (because they are so sweet) I would be so sad if this place was gone. The price is affordable, especially with today's economy. You're not budgeting your tastebuds here. It is worth trying and supporting :)
I had hoped for a more traditional omakase experience at the counter, but they served all the sushi at once, which was a bit disappointing. If you're seeking a more authentic omakase, I wouldn't recommend this place. However, aside from that, I have no complaints. The price and the quality of the food are the best in the area. While there are many sushi restaurants nearby that are quite similar, this one stands out for its freshness, variety of ingredients, and value. If you're not specifically looking for an omakase experience, this restaurant is your best choice.
I really enjoyed my dinner here! What a great addition to the neighborhood. The waitress was super attentive. Highly recommend the Mikawa roll. The top portion it toro. And prices are reasonable too.
I ordered the chicken teriyaki poke bowl and a peanut avocado sushi roll. My friends got the spicy poke bowl and chicken teriyaki and rice, as well as some bubble tea. We all really liked our food. There was great service, the pricing was good, and the restaurant decor was nice.
Really fresh sushi and sashimi. Great lunch deals. Fast and friendly service. Nice alcoholic drink choices. Would visit again.
Due to work commitments, I frequently order takeout from Mikawa. Their food never fails to delight, and my top choice is the Bento Box. You can select your preferred sushi roll along with Healthy Brown Rice. Initially, it includes sautéed onions, but since I'm not a fan, they have always accommodated my requests.
Great new sushi spot! Everything was really fresh and everyone was friendly. Best sushi in bay ridge

Absolutely amazing place! Sushi is fresh and the employees are very sweet and friendly. Best sushi in Bay Ridge!!
Was very pleasantly surprised with this place. It’s a family run business and it shows in the best ways. The rice on the rolls alone tasted excellent. The spicy tuna was one of the best I had in a while - certainly so for a take out spot. Can’t wait to come back and try the other rolls.
We love this place. Everyday I wake up I say I want to go to Mikawa. Their lunch special is perfect for three rolls and a soup or salad, or you can try their bigger rolls. The bomb roll is a fan favorite, and the salmon flight is a classic. Pair them with cutwaters for a night out. We love conversing over quality meals in an establishment with kind service and a great atmosphere. We can’t wait to come back!
A very calm and quiet atmosphere with a great selection of sushi. I highly recommend the sushi platters that eliminate the pressure of choosing your own sushi arrangement and put the burden of choice on the chef. It's very rare to find real wasabi in an NYC restaurant so it's inclusion was a pleasant surprise!!! Highly recommend as a date night location.
Sushi was amazing and so fresh!! Staff are kind as well.
My husband and I have eaten in mikawa twice before, the food is delicious, the vegetables are very fresh so is the sushi , I had the soup with noodles with plenty chicken and vegetables in a big bowl. The service is very attentive and cordial. We are planing to go back this coming Wednesday with a group of four, they are looking forward to. We’re very surprised of their prices not expected to be so competitive you would not break the bank. We’re very thankful to have this restaurant in our neighborhood. Respectfully, Lawrence and Laura stelter
The best Japanese restaurant in Bay Ridge! <3 My family and I come here all the time for lunch. The food is always fresh and very healthy; my favorites are the salmon and chicken teriyaki, the shrimp tempura and mango avocado rolls. I always ask for it with their delicious brown wild rice and organic miso soup. Their poke bowls are some of the best I've ever had as well! Prices are very reasonable as well, their lunch special is the best value I've found in the neighborhood. 10/10 :)

I've been ordering from here at least once a month lately. Everything is enjoyable. Their chicken katsu keeps me coming back for more. My favorite is their poke bowls, especially with spicy salmon!
We arrived around 6:00 pm and the restaurant was alone - which seemed great as in theory the service would be faster. We had: Fantastic island: I liked it, fresh fish even though I am a little hesitant about the rice. I would order it again. We also ordered a Fancy dragon roll, krispy california roll (needs to be crunchier), lobster roll (love it), kani salad (did not impress me), christmas roll, rainbow roll, crispy CA roll and Alaska. We had a chocolate soufflé (could be improved a little as the center was not melting. It was a little too sweet). We also had complimentary mochi (green tea and strawberry) - it was really good, it had chocolate syrup on top (I think a little unnecessary but my friends liked the contrast). The service took longer than expected but the food was very good. It was a good experience :)
The restaurant is located in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn. They prepare Japanese cuisine. The sushi combo was very good. Nice quality fish. With the sushi combo the customer chooses from a list of options what they want in the order. Additionally, the customer also chooses from a variety of sushi rolls. Customers have a choice of soup or salad. Each individual piece of sushi was on the smaller side including the sushi roll and salad. Restaurant has nice decor.
