Qué Chulada Alameda Reviews
Spent 5 years living in SoCal (1 year in SD) and have spent the rest of my life living in the bay area. This is by far my favorite Mexican restaurant I’ve eaten at in the bay area, and is even really good for San Diego Mexican food. Que Chulada has the best quesabirria I have had, and the street tacos, burritos, and Posole (only on weekends!) are incredible. Great service and friendliness by the family who runs it, and even better food! Must try place in the Richmond district.
Simple, yet delicious Mexican food. Veggie burrito and enchiladas were super flavorful. The beans and rice are great as well. Very friendly staff.
Absolutely delicious. We were feeling really hungry and wanted to have a quick bite on the way to the Presidio. Ordered Carne Asada tacos and Birria tacos, both street style, and devoured them in an instant. Super warm, flexible tortillas. Right amount of spice and the meat was tender and moist. Food came out super quick, although we were the only ones there. More lowkey athmosphere, which we enjoyed.
Better and cheaper than Gordo around the corner! Have passed this a thousand times on the bus and finally decided to try it. Super quesadilla with al Pastor was very good. Will definitely be returning for more.
Went in for lunch today, had been in a few times previously, and there was some confusion with my order that caused it to take longer than normal. Despite the stress of their lunch rush, the staff offered me drinks and were extremely nice about the confusion. They really care about their customers, and the food is GREAT. I've had tacos, quesadillas, tortas and burritos and all were fantastic. A gem of a mom & pop shop with great food and amazing staff. The woman who works the front is always so kind, and the lunch time chef knows how to make some damn good food. Will definitely be back!
My favorite Mexican spot in the Richmond District. Meat is cooked to order instead of stored on a steam table and Burritos are grilled after assembly.
Amazing fooood!! Quality, service taste everything is soooo goood!! You definitely have to try the chilaquiles!!!
I got the Birria burrito supreme it was a good size burrito, on the bigger side of burritos. It was soo amazing!!! You have to try it. I sat down waiting for the food and the daughter brought me the food to the table she was so sweet and adorable!10/10 recommend 💯
I give them all five stars, although it's not a fancy schmancy place, I felt comfortable waiting for my order. The guy at the counter and the cook were both nice and friendly. When I took a first bite of the super al pastor burrito, I knew it was special. Even though the first bite was mostly the top of the tortilla, some rice and salsa, I could smell the smokiness coming right through. The meat was flavorful, the beans as well, and rice was perfectly cooked. Through every bite I enjoyed how flavorful and smoky this burrito tasted. This is is the best neighborhood burrito place, hands down, and I've tried every single one in the Richmond district. Next time , I'm trying the birria burrito. Yum!
Solid burrito, amazing quesabirria tacos. Really nice people.
I keep going here for their deluxe breakfast burrito with accompanying house hot sauce. Dios mio it's friggin good. I feel bad for not getting other items on the menu because I keep going back for that but I promise I'm going to branch off someday.
One of my favorite places to eat on the west side, and more broadly in San Francisco. Consistently outstanding tasting food, and the family that runs the business provides excellent service. I usually get the super chicken quesadilla, and my wife usually gets the carnitas street tacos. I would recommend getting the house hot sauce as well!
Very nice and friendly. Love the veggie breakfast burrito and salsas. Will totally come back for the tacos. They have quesabirria too. And vegan options. Reasonable prices. Possibly the best Mexican go to for the Outer Richmind area.
We got some Al Pastor burritos from Que Chulada, and let me say that the food was out of this world. It starts with the salsa, it was spicy, and flavorful! I had an all around great experience highly recommend recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for authentic Mexican food!
16$ for a super burrito is reasonable especially in the city. Flavor was great. Service was awesome, ordered from the mom as the son was cooking the food. Mexican food in the city is usually over hyped and expensive, but this place has a nice family vibe. Parking kinda sucks but worth the walk. I'll definitely be stopping by again if I'm in the area
Visiting from Chicago and tried this spot, authentic mexican food and very friendly owners !! Would definitely stop by if in SF again!!
Awesome food that hits the spot and it is run by a very nice family. Highly recommend this spot especially the tacos and the breakfast burritos (only available till 2 pm). Their chorizo, egg and cheese burrito will make getting out of bed during the weekend worth it. The tacos were everything we expected and more. Be sure to try the salsa, orange has a spicy kick while the green is full of flavor.
Decided to try this place since it just opened near by, and I was very happy I did. The food is authentic, delicious, and portions are plentiful. Staff was friendly and the food came super quick. Just eating here reminded me of being back home. Definitely give this place a try and the recognition it deserves.
Customer service was spectacular! Felt like home! You are able to seat yourself. We went early afternoon on Friday before the crowd! We had the Quesobirria tacos. It came with 4 tacos for $23 (which is a bit steep), but this was the BEST birria tacos I’ve had to date! Lots of meat and very flavorful! The fajitas were delicious! Steak and veggies had great flavor and delivered steaming hot! Beans were a bit runny, rice was fluffy but bland. We also ordered a side of guac & chips. Guac was a bit bland for my liking. However, we will definitely be back!
This place is so quaint and personable. I love the genuine family experience. The food is delicious and fresh! I went super simple but next time I am definitely going to need to try both the regular and vegan enchiladas! I used their restroom while waiting and not only was it spotless but the mirror added even more joy to the place:) Definitely a great spot to try! 🥰🌎🕊️
ABSOLUTELY the B E S T al pastor tacos I’ve ever eaten! Good quality meat that isn’t fat and grizzle. Lots of meat on tacos. Delicious homemade green and red hot sauce. And the friendliest family owns it.
If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, this is the spot. Food was extremely delicious, made fresh and portions are generous.
Excellent food, we had the bierra tacos and the Al pastor super burrito. Both were excellent and the spicy orange salsa is the bomb! The Al pastor was seared perfectly. We’ll be back!
Tasty carne asada burrito, EXCELLENT (friendly & attentive) service, and really cute decor! This place is a very welcome addition to the Richmond. The lady at the desk was super nice. I love how they decorated the space, and my burrito was very tasty for $12.99. I will definitely be back!
So happy to have a new Mexican food option in the Richmond. The Mission district is so rich with options, it has always made me envious. This is as cool as it gets, a small family starting their own business, trying to make their way...and their food is DELICIOUS! This isn't a crank 500 people through in an hour, robot line, you get personalized service at the register and in the kitchen. Everything I've tried has been outstanding and tastes like going to a friend's house for a meal. For me, I am so excited to finally have a place to get a breakfast burrito (or chilaquiles or huevos rancheros)! Look forward to spending many meals, for many years at our new neighborhood restaurant!!
Been wanting to try this spot since the same location used to be one of my favorite Korean spots on Geary. Staff is super friendly and helpful, and had a chance to try their quesabirria which was packed with flavor and piping hot! Would love to try their other offerings next time since their menu looks great!
Excellent food and fast service. Quiet place, great for conversation. Highly recommend.
The food was delicious. They have a vegan option. The Coke in the bottle was nice and cold. Will definitely go again.

Amazing carne asada burrito! Great salsas too. This is my new go-to for Mexican food
This place is the best Mexican food in the Richmond, maybe the whole city. Food is authentic, ingredients are fresh and delicious. The couple that owns it are so nice, very reasonably priced. I hope they stay open forever!!
Love their wet burrito, enchilada and quesadilla. Best verde sauce in town. Que Chulada is our go to for comfort food on a cold diet weeknight.
This is the best Mexican restaurant in the Richmond District! They actually have spicy salsa, which is hard to find around here for some reason. I highly recommend the super burrito with birria and the super burrito with Carnitas. It tastes homemade, fresh and it is so flavorful. It’s family run and it just feels homey and I love going there almost every week. You’ll love any dish here.
This is my third time coming to this restaurant and it never disappoints. The food is truly authentic Mexican, which is hard to find these days. I’m always hesitant about trying Mexican restaurants because I feel like it won’t taste like home, but this place exceeded my expectations. Everything is delicious and genuinely authentic. I’ve already recommended it to friends and family. It’s really that good!!!

Quesabirria!!!! Fried cheese with beef that is. That's what you really want here, and not the burrito bowl which is the healthier option (according to the doña comida de los diabetocos) , but oh well if you want to be healthy vs. happy, choose happiness 😊!! Small, quaint, no frills place with decent Mexican food. We also ordered tacos dorados (crispy tacos). Definitely saw a lot of locals eat here! And do try the spicy, red salsa.

Update- I came back because I was so happy with the chicken burrito and I got the shrimp burrito and I was so distracted! In the entire $25 super burrito, there was literally LITERALLY 2 shrimp. I just basically ate a soggy burrito with rice only. So disappointed in the taste, texture, and the cost. Absolutely delicious chicken burrito and quick service!
For as much as it pains me to do it, this “authentic” mexican place just didn’t do it for me. The pictures on the menu didn’t match the plate delivered, and could be found even as deceiving. Enchiladas were drenched in oil, taste was a mix between oil nothing much, no salsa, no spice, and beans were room temp. Fried smell was strong The pico de gallo was good tho.

Not that good. Super Burrito was mediocre and cheese was not good. Expensive for a hole in the wall Taqueria. No sauces, napkins, water or anything available without asking up front. Chips and Salsa wasn’t even good.
We ordered grilled chicken tacos and enchilada verdes. Both of them were very disappointing because they were extremely salty. The chicken was so salty that it hurt my tongue after eating it. I do not recommend.
