Scolari's Alameda Reviews
DELICIOUS! Will definitely be back. Good portions, the garlic fries were on point - if you love buffalo flavor you will love their fries too but it was a little too hot for me. The blueberry burger was amazingly good, as well as the regular burger.
Unreal food with the most satisfying taste. You gotta try the French fries and the blueberry burger! Chef's kiss.
Scolari’s is a great burger joint. I wish the place was bigger, but I know that there is outside seating around the area. I also miss the old buns they used but the burger is overrrall delicious .
Delicious creative takes on classic bar food. Their buffalo fries are not too be missed. Great burgers and their pizza is low key their best menu item. Great spot!
The food is phenomenal and they have both vegetarian and vegan options available. Super small space with a couple counter seats inside, but otherwise tables available out front at the parklets. I had a vegetarian "Good Ol' Boy" and a half-order of Buffalo Fries, both of which were super tasty and extremely satisfying.
We love Scolari's! Been back dozens of times. The people here just love food; everything they make is tasty, even when it seems a little unconventional. I have many burger lovers in my family and Scolari's has the best burger in the East Bay in their opinion (the wimpy burger for simple and their novelty burgers when they want to spice things up). I'm a big fan of the lettuce cups and the falafel wrap, but no matter what I get, I know it will be delicious 😋
Turned onto this place via a Tik Tok search for hidden gems in Alameda. It lived up to it’s name. The owner was extremely friendly offering up advice on ordering, specials, and even offering indoor seating at their sister restaurant across the street, since it was raining. Scolari’s doesn’t have indoor seating, but does have covered tables outside along the sidewalk. My wife and I both ordered burgers and some fries for our boy. The fries were bomb. My blueberry burger was $21, expensive for a burger, but well worth it. Truly a gourmet burger.
Each time I’m in town I’ve gotta stop here. Get my burger and garlic fries 💜💜💜 We’ve tried the Classic Cheese 🧀 burger with bacon 🥓 and egg 🍳 Amazing. There’s street parking. We get lucky every single time and park on the side street. You can either eat outside or next door at the bar. The bar is right next door on the corner.
My friend had their well-loved blueberry bacon blue cheese au poivre burger, which she can never say no to when she eats there. I opted for the classic cheeseburger that comes with all the usual toppings and their house sauce. It was super good, but too large for me! Definitely could have made two meals out of it. I also went for a half order of their buffalo fries, which were quite delicious. Plenty of flavor, for sure! I'm eyeing one of their chicken sandwiches, or lettuce cups, or street dog for the next time...
Food is great. These are the best fries in Alameda and the burgers are delicious. I most recently got the Nashville hot and really enjoyed the food. This rating is for takeout specifically: you can’t order takeout online without a $1.50 service fee, which one could avoid if they pick up their phone (hasn’t happened past few times). I understand that not charging the service fee means the business has to pay that, but that is the cost of online takeout these days that most other restaurants in Alameda cover. Picking up food there is frustrating: it’s unclear where to wait if you don’t want to pay for a drink next-door as the person behind the counter generally passive aggressively pushes you out the door awkwardly to wait for your food to be bagged. That said, you don’t know when it’s bagged because you’re outside the door so you can’t hear them. Look, I’ll absolutely be back to Scolari’s. The food is too good, but it just feels like management isn’t doing enough to actually compete with other takeout spots nearby on cost (service fee) and the staff seems to have minimal incentive to be reasonably friendly for pickup orders.
The burger was decent and the tenders came in 3s but were packed with real chicken breasts. The fries had too much oil unfortunately and some of them were crispy and others were soggy. Thing to note there is only outside seating next to the road so it was pretty loud. You can take the food next door to the bar if you'd like. That was pretty cool.
Might be the best burger in Alameda—juicy, flavorful, and nicely presented. The fries were crisp and tasty, too. My only complaint is that the fountain soda, which was not Coke or Pepsi but some independent brand I'd never heard of, didn't have much flavor—but, never having tasted it before, I don't know if that was the fault of the soda itself or if it needed more syrup.
Had the spicy fried chicken sandwich and buffalo and bleu cheese fries. Sandwich was crispy (most importantly), bun was moist and soft. Not very spicy, though everyone's tolerance is different. The employees were friendly and I only had to wait about 10 minutes for food. There is a lot of seating during covid at the picnic benches on the sidewalk. Would recommend! Only minus one star due to somewhat high prices (no doubt attributable to expensive rent at this location + DDD exposure).
It's a very casual hole on the wall type of place. They team up with next door bar since there is no out very limited seating. You can order food and take to the next door bar and have drink there. Or can you go to the bar for drink but order food next door ;) Burgers and sandwiches are delicious however very greasy oily, specially fried! You need to rely on free or paid street parking.
Update: I tried this place again and was disappointed that I was told I couldn't add tomatoes even if I paid for them. The answer was just no They have them there so what is the deal? I didn't like that and I hope the owner reads these reviews. Warning; The pizza slice is different and just a sprinkle of cheese. I didn't care for it. If you're looking for very lite cheese then you may like it. Just not what I am use to. Same thing at Marley g across the street. I didn't realize they were same company. I had the specials today..shrimp Louie salad and hush puppies. It was delicious! The shrimps were big and plenty in the order. Shrimp were prepared excellent and all ingredients were fresh! Better than and cheaper than a restaurant version. The hush puppies were yummy! They had just a few corn kennels inside but not a lot which added a nice texture To the mix. The honey drizzled on top was really good And nice touch! The cayenne butter was not hot but the perfect balance. The menu is a good mix lots of items you would want to try. This is a gem. Great for takeout! The staff is very friendly and plenty seating outside or you can get food delivered at the bar next door. Delivery can be done through an app called slice.
First time here and not impressed. Wanted to try it from the reviews and it being on triple D's. I'll stick with the facts. Pros: outdoor seating Wide range of food options Little to no wait Hush puppies were the best item I had here.. Cons: No parking, only street parking and it will be difficult to find. The food will/might disappoint you. The water had hairs in it which made me think of a safety code when preparing food and prep. Lastly, cheeseburgers are better than chicken sandwiches.
I went here on a Sunday morning. The 1st time I came here, the food was phenomenal. But recently I came to order to-go, and my food was horrible. The burger was somewhat edible, but extremely dry, almost like it was left sitting out. The fries were completley inedible, they were burnt to a crisp. I spent $45 for 2 burgers and a large fry, which is already on the more expensive side. For that price, i would expect a lot better quality. I don't know why this time was so bad, but I don't think I will be back. Would I suggest others to eat here? No, because it is a gamble on the food you will get. Just go to In & Out instead..
I am beyond disappointed. We spent $52 on two burgers and an order of fries for pick up. The woman at the register showed me that my food was ready but said she would be “right back” for me to pay. I waited over five minutes. She then came back and picked up a phone call and proceeded talking to the customer for another couple of minutes. The whole time I was thinking that we are creeping up on almost 10 minutes and I’m afraid that my food will get cold. Unfortunately, I was right. The meal was ice cold. We didn’t even eat it. I’ve reached out to management and will report back if I get a response.
