Yellow Door Alameda Reviews
I am quite literally obsessed with Yellow Door. If I could eat it every day, I would. My favorite things to get are the breakfast burrito, the summer veggie sandwich (with pesto, tomato, mozzarella, balsamic, etc), and the chicken salad sandwich. I used to get this every weekend for breakfast/lunch and I never got tired of it. I love it so much. Their pastries are also good, I really like their chocolate chip cookies. I love yellow door!
Stopped by for a bite after a facial in the area. It was pretty busy with limited seating available around 10.30am. I had a cortado and breakfast sandwich. They have a ton of pastries and I picked up some banana bread for later. Food and service was solid. I will definitely stop by again when I’m back in the area.
Great to go breakfast spot. Perfect breakfast sandwiches and a deep list of caffeinated beverages. A few seats inside and out front
Delicious! Had the egg breakfast sandwich and the PBJ thumbprint cookie. Make sure to get there early because they will run out of breakfast sandwiches! They go real fast and it is a cheesy warm steal at $5. The thumbprint cookie is a peanut butter cookie with strawberry jelly filling. Very warm and rich like a good peanut butter cookie should be. Shout out to East Bay Express for showing me this place.

This place is a gem. Good coffee, delicious baked goods, and very tasty sandwiches. I've tried everything on the menu at this point and the breakfast burrito and sandwiches are amazing, and the turkey lunch sandwich and salads are wonderful too. The atmosphere and shop itself is beautiful with quiet outdoor seating in the sunshine or nice indoor counter space if you want to work. They are limited in terms of days and hours which is the saddest part. I also worry they will go out of business as everything seems underpriced on their menu. Thank you Yellow Door! You are our weekly go-to for the whole family.
My new favorite local coffee shop. The breakfast burrito is the best breakfast burrito I've ever had and I'm addicted! There's lots of healthy and delicious food options. The coffee is great as well. I highly recommend trying this place out and support your local small business.
Great food and coffee. I wish it it was open on additional days like Monday and Tuesday. Also, would be nice if the owner expanded. The cafe is a bit too small and so far it is the best breakfast/pastry place in Montclair. We need more places like this!
Very easy way to spend $50 on breakfast for 2. Happily.
Finally a wonderful new spot in Montclair! The food is excellent, the staff are lovely and the space is adorable and clean. I appreciate the simple menu that has plenty of options but isn't overwhelming (breakfast sandwiches, salads w/ protein options, sandwiches, Buddha bowl, pastries). I'm sure this place will get very busy as more people discover it.
Love this place! Perfect for a weekend coffee and pastry or quick lunch. The only thing I would change be if they had more hours!
Love the pricing and their baked goods are yummy! I've tried the scones and bread pudding.
The coffee is wonderful (I like the iced latte), the turkey sandwiches are to die for (they roast the turkey in-house!), and delicious pastries. So happy they moved into our neighborhood! Visiting this coffee shop perks up my otherwise long at-home workdays.
Love this place. Turkey sandwich with cranberry on acme green onion slab bread is on point. Quality is outstanding, especially for a coffee shop. The coffee is st frank, which I remembered from SF. Love the decor as well as the outside tables and chairs. Great addition to the neighborhood.
Favorite spot for lunch in this area! The food is so thoughtfully put together, is so fresh, healthy and extremely delicious! They do a seasonal salmon bowl to at shifts depending on the season…it’s my go-to order! Also…THE COOKIES. They are magical, and that’s an understatement!
Thank goodness amazing Yellow Door came on the scene in Montclair. Efficient, healthy & delicious are just a few ways to describe this delicious eatery. Kale Chicken Caesar, Miso Chicken Bowl, the Breakfast Sandwich are just a few of our families faves. Don’t miss this local gem!
Hardest working cafe in Oakland! Lines can be long on weekends but the efficient staff churns along and smiles are everywhere. "E" for effort...and "P" for pastries! Terrific array of freshly baked goodies, including killer coffee cake. Don't forget takeaway - an impressive selection of daily salads, sandwiches, and soups.
Breakfast burrito is the best I’ve ever had! To be fair, I don’t normally like them. But this one was grilled, had turkey chorizo, and lots of cheese.

I can definitely see Yellow Door in our morning coffee/breakfast rotation in the near future. Just outside the congested parking zones in the middle of the village, this coffee shop provides solid espresso drinks and good breakfast options (including sandwiches, burritos, pastries, and more). But, despite the fact that this place offers breakfast, they open rather late at 8am and don’t offer vegetarian substitutions to classics like the breakfast burrito. We’re always on the hunt for great vegetarian breakfast options, so this takes it down a notch. Otherwise, the service staff was quick, attentive, and helpful. I’m a vocal advocate for better breakfast options in Montclair and I think Yellow Door delivers.

I'd agree with other reviews that say the menu is simple and basic. The food is extremely basic, but good. It tastes like they use real ingredients. There are very few choices. I like the coffee and tea. It's just a beautiful, extremely clean coffeehouse. It closes early and is only open some days of the week. It's on the main street so it's easy to find. Parking isn't great, but everyone parks at their usual spot in Montclair village and walks around to get to their destination. I do like the local, private owned, family feel the place has. The shop is also gorgeous.

I moved to Monclair recently. And was excited to try out Yellow Door. I’m not impressed. The breakfast sandwich I ordered reminded me of a McDonald’s McMuffin. Too much cheese. Yes the eggs were fresh. But the taste was nowhere close to what I expected. And there was no offering on types of bread. I do not care for english muffins. I was looking for fresh juices. And there was none. Did not try the coffee drinks.
