King Wah Restaurant Albans Reviews
Not your typical standard Chinese restaurant. Looks and tastes fresher and better, not sure if it’s because it’s halal or if they change the oil more frequently. But overall excellent for the price.
Great food great price and great portion. It’s flavorful it has big portion worth every penny. I loved it.
First time here. Person at counter very helpful, friendly. They have free ginger spicy tea which is really good.
My brother and I tried this spot for the first time since we were in the neighborhood (we’re from Brooklyn), and I have to say, this was hands down the best halal Chinese food we’ve ever had. Everything we ordered was excellent; the fried chicken dumplings, chicken wings, General Tso’s chicken, egg fried rice, and flat noodles. The atmosphere was great, and the waiter was super friendly and welcoming. We’ll definitely be coming back whenever we’re in the area again!
This restaurant, with its Chinese Muslim-style decorations, offers a variety of Chinese dishes. The only problem with the extensive menu is that when we ordered Hunan Beef and Szechuan Shrimp and Chicken, the two dishes tasted almost the same, except for the different meats. The fried dumplings are good, but the Mei Fun could be better.
I came to this halal Chinese spot for the first time. You wouldn't know it from looking at the outside but it looks quite nice inside. There are nice lighting fixtures and decor. The staff were very nice and the menu had a lot of variety. I got the szechuan shrimp and chicken, along with the Singapore noodles and fried chicken teriyaki sticks. All the food was cooked well and seasoned okay, could be better. Serving sizes were generous. Prices were good.
If you're in the mood for a Chinese feast, look no further than King Wah! This little restaurant is conveniently located in an area where options can be scarce, but they more than make up for it with their dishes. I tried the General Tso's chicken lunch special with egg drop soup and white rice, and it was absolutely delectable. While some dishes may have more flavor than others, the overall taste and quality of the food at King Wah is top-notch. In addition to the tasty food, I was also really impressed by the newly refurbished interior giving the restaurant a fresh feel. And let's not forget about the generous portions and cheap prices - it's hard to beat a meal like this at such a great value. All in all, King Wah is a solid choice for a tasty and affordable Chinese meal. Highly recommend giving it a try!
I visited this restaurant a couple of days ago and had mixed experiences with their dishes. The highlight of the meal was definitely the Singapore mei fun. It had a fantastic flavor and just the right amount of light oiliness, making it both delicious and satisfying without feeling heavy. Unfortunately, the hot and sour soup was extremely underwhelming. It lacked flavor entirely, which was disappointing. Adding to that, the chicken soup was a letdown as well, despite the menu suggesting that it comes with noodles, there were none in the bowl. The restaurant no longer feels like authentic Chinese cuisine, especially since the change in management. The menu now leans more toward South Asian fusion, and I miss the quality and flavors of the previous ownership.
It's Halal American Chinese. Really good and generous portions for what it is. My only complaint is that they don't have all the Chinese sauce packets you find in non halal American Chinese spots. Also don't expect this to taste as good as the non halal Chinese spots in the city.
Been back here a few times since my first visit and each time the service has been lacking. Flavor of food hasn't been as good either. The workers DEFINITELY need some customer service training, they lack the BASICS... Hence why every time I go here it's EMPTY. I understand with the prices we can't expect a high end 5 star restaurant service, but I'm talking about regular restaurant 101. Also stopped by for lunch yesterday and couldn't stay for 15 mins because it was a "Sauna" in there. Ordered the chicken & broccoli lunch special which is NOT on the menu they gave me, and when I asked for the lunch special menu waiter looked angry. The lunch special is 8.95 and on my bill it was 10.95, which I paid without mentioning anything about it but I hate shady practices by restaurants. Ordered a soda (can) and added chicken to my fried rice which says $1 extra and my bill came out to $20. Not sure how that math works but again I paid it without mentioning anything. But probably won't be coming back here again. HALAL CHINESE FOOD that is actually really good and at affordable prices. This is definitely a hidden gem. Will be adding this to the regular rotation for sure. We got the family meal for 3 $48.95. You choose 3 main dishes, 1 soup0, 1 fried rice, 1 lo mein & 3 egg rolls. We got hot & sour soup, chicken fried rice, beef lo mein, chicken with broccoli, general tso's chicken & kung po beef. EVERYTHING was good. Service was really good too. Highly recommend King Wah. On the 2nd visit we tried the special lo mein, seafood hot & sour soup, chicken egg roll & shrimp egg roll. The regular hot & sour was better & spicier than the seafood one & regular egg roll was better as well.
While giving a food review i look into every details. The experience was not as good as i had with Halal Kitchen. I ordered fried half chickens, Chicken with broccoli,General Tsao chicken and fried chicken rice. The rice was ok. I felt it better than the chicken fried rice of halal kitchen. Chicken with broccoli...i will say it felt rubbery..it felt kinda hard to chew. And definitely full of broccoli than chicken.. and the gravy was hard to found..it was very less.. same goes with the General Tsao.......the fried half chicken smells...and feels like the chicken was very old. Overall experience was not good..
Let the picture talk for itself. $12 for this meal no drinks included. Still hungry after this.
I ordered from this place by accident. But I figured chicken and broccoli can’t go wrong. The quality of food is good, but there was no taste. Usually the brown sauce makes it, but this one is tasteless. I asked for soy sauce and they didn’t give it to me, but thankfully I found some at home. I had to pour it all over the meal for it to be enjoyable. Update: not even 30 min after eating, my stomach is messed up.
this place definitely has tasty and good food.Their service was very good.reasonable!before last week i used to order 3/4 times our office lunch from this place. But i stopped ordering since the nepali lady started taking the order.my experience was so horrible!first she didn't even take my order she just hang up the phone.then i called again placed my order for delivery.i called after an hour for food and she said there was no order for delivery.I asked for the manager and she was arguing and since that day i stopped calling there.so if you want food do not call there just do uber eats!
I dislike giving low reviews, and the experience wasn't entirely negative, but there were some major issues we had when dining here recently. When our group of 4 arrived, we were greeted and each handed cold water bottles, which we accepted. At the end of the meal when we received our bill, we were charged for the 4 water bottles ($1.50 each). We were not asked if we wanted the water, nor that we would be charged for it; I assumed that they were being given to us as a courtesy due to the weather that day (very hot, humid, and poor air quality). We would have appreciated being asked if we would like the water, and the cost, before giving them to us. Our group ordered chicken dumplings, chicken and broccoli, beef and broccoli, beef mei fun, and chicken with eggplant. There were 8 dumplings in our order, and at least 3 of them were still uncooked in the center. Thankfully none of us became ill from this, but food safety needs to be taken seriously by any restaurant. The rest of the dishes were cooked properly, but nothing wowed us; the beef in particular was chewy and of poor quality. We also saw egg rolls and crab rangoons sitting out in a warming case, rather than being fried fresh. There was a bathroom for customers, but the toilet seat and the lock on the door were missing. Unfortunately King Wah isn't a place we would return; there are quite a few other halal Chinese restaurants in Queens and the rest of NYC that are tastier and better quality.
I ordered for chicken fried rice but there was no chicken in the rice only onion fried rice. Broccoli and chicken and more broccoli and less chicken and chicken wings. Before they have very good service and now they don’t care. Before the chicken wings were big and now small chicken wings. You spend more money and get the food less as per your money. I will advise the owner to look into it and improve the quality of food.
Shrimp roll was salty. Chicken wings were cold and big will never order from there again
I ordered lunch special. Walk in while there are no others customers. There is only one staff working with orders and phone. I’ve been waiting for 30 min to get my orders. And others customers came in like 5-6 people. I just don’t get it. This is a fast food restaurant which has no dine in customers and the staff are very slow and don’t really care about the customers service at all. I myself work at the Chinese restaurant. Never experience such delay and poor customer service. Not recommended at all. Very bad experience
the restaurant was hot when my friend came in and it was still hot when we arrived after 15 minutes because the air conditioner wasn't turned on in spite of informing them. Although the AC was turned on later, it was not functioning well. The food was below average. We ordered chicken, beef, vegetable and all of them tasted just the same, and I am not kidding when I say this, it was the same sauce and spice covering different protein and veggies. Not gonna recommend coming here. The place has a good interior not gonna lie, should be comfortable on a winter noon/after sunset. The rolls on the appetizer was really good. The service staff was well behaved.
We went here for Iftar after making reservation a day before. What a disappointment, we came in at 6:55pm ordered and iftar time was at 7:14pm, as per their iftar box we were suppose to get dates, fruits and rooh hafza, along with some chicken lollipops and spring roll. All we got as a rozedar was some rooh hafza and waited for everything else till 7:50pm. No water nothing was provided. Management was not compassionate about the customers who were all fasting, making the entire resturant wait for sooo long was not ok. How can you not keep food ready even after making reservation a fay in advance ? They did apologize for the miss due to short staff which I understand can happen, however giving some dates and water as promised on the menu shouldn't take more than 5mins. They kept asking everyone, what is your order ? Atleast 3times. It was a total chaos. Food arrived finally after more than an hour, it tasted ok. The soup had a beefy smell to it, just broth no shrimps or anything was added, we had to share the shrimp from each others soup. Will not go again or suggest anyone to go.
