Le Petit Pêcheur Albans Reviews
Great staff, very kind and welcoming. Good was excellent, best calamari I’ve ever had. Scallops were tender and I got both grilled and sautéed but I’d recommend the sautéed. Overall a great experience, definitely the best seafood spot in the area.
Casual dining joint. Fish was fresh and delicious and the servers were very knowledgeable. Had the monkfish sautéed and it was delicious. The rice and vegetable side was simple but delicious.
Incredible fresh fish in case on ice, choose your fish and how you want it cooked. Fabulous lemon potatoes
What a beautiful experience! I came here with a work colleague for lunch yesterday and we have a great lunch! The sautéed flounder was delicious! We also had the lemon potatoes and Greek salad. I would highly recommend this restaurant for great food and a quaint, beautiful Mediterranean atmosphere. I will be back very soon! Thank you!
This new seafood restaurant in Astoria brings not only great food but beautiful breeze and relaxing atmosphere w beautiful decor which make you want to stay forever! Heard great things since the opening so been there a few times already. I had to come from Manhattan!! There are many seafood restaurants in Astoria but this place offers way better quality of seafood at reasonable price and provides great personal service. I am always treated like family and feel like I’m invited to someone’s house. :) Brought my son and his wife and they loved it. Do not forget to try calamari!!!! It’s the best calamari I had in my life!!!! Loved everything we had including eggplant, shrimp, salmon and blanzino. Cannot wait to go back. When I’m hungry I think of their calamari and fresh virgin mojito! It’s so worth getting on a train from Manhattan as we can never find a great place like this in the city!!!!
Wonderful experience, Great atmosphere and I love being able to pick my own fish and cooking method.
Excellent service! We felt welcome from the moment we walked in. I love that we had the option to choose as little or as much as we wanted from the seafood bar so we could try a little bit of everything. Delicious scallops, baked clams, and dessert!
Le Petit Pêcheur is an amazing place. The food is so fresh and the staff is beyond kind. I have been here 3 times so far, introducing new people to this great establishment. I will definitely return soon as I have a goal to try every fish on the menu! 😊
Delicious fresh fish and very reasonably priced. We had the calamari provencal, the eggplant dip, peasant salad, sauteed scallops, and grilled red snapper. All were delicious, but the calamari provencal was really a standout.
Amazing seafood, great service. Some of the best seafood I've had in nyc. Love this place
Went here for dinner with my family for my daughter's birthday. Service and food were impeccable!!! Everyone enjoyed their meal. Fresh and tasty.
Go with the "chef's recommendations" ,cant go wrong with it. Very good food. Be aware, no drinks.
You pick out the exact piece of fresh fish you want and then you tell them how you want it cooked . Then you order your sides and what not at the table. It's great tasting fish and food and excellent service!
This place is very good, with food rivaling some of the more famous Mediterranean seafood spots in Astoria, but it also has a cute bistro-like ambience that makes it better than those places for a date night. Should be more popular/crowded than if is.
SO GOOD! I come once a month since my discovery and I swear this place has the most inexpensive and delicious seafood I’ve ever had! The complimentary garlic bread is just chefs kiss with all the sauce from any entrees. Highly highly recommend!
If you are looking for fresh delicious seafood I highly recommend this place. I’ve had the salmon and calamari. Both were excellent. I suggest the asparagus and lemon potatoes as sides. Employees are very sweet, friendly and appreciative of your business. This part of Astoria needs this kind of restaurant and I hope they continue to thrive.
The food is exceptional! Everything we had was delicious and seasoned perfectly . Roasted eggplant dip, lemon potatoes , grilled branzino, baked clams, fried calamari, sautéed shrimp. Even the garlic bread is delicious and great to wipe up all the delicious sauce .
Let's start with the fact that I am extremely picky with my food. I don't easily get impressed with anything I eat. But my husband and I were really impressed with the quality of dishes, service, atmosphere. Everything was so fresh and delicious. The place with great food and friendly service. We will definitely come back.
You pick your seafood by the pound and then choose how you want it cooked: grilled, seared, or fried. Food was tasty. Prices reasonable.
One of the best seafood restaurants in NYC. Everything was so fresh, juicy, perfectly cooked, and the prices are very reasonable (especially compared to the overpriced low quality seafood you get in Manhattan). The staff here are also lovely and very attentive. Definitely coming back!
A seafood restaurant where you choose your options from the front case and then take a seat to pick your drinks and sides. There are three options to choose from on how they’ll cook your seafood. Garlic bread is brought to the table, it is very garlicky. Got the scallops and shrimp grilled; they were great. Also got the eggplant which was delicious and Greek salad (small) which was fresh. The mashed potatoes with basil are phenomenal, don’t sit on them, very addictive. The restaurant plays quiet music and it’s easy to have a conversation which is lovely. Service is attentive and friendly, if you have questions about the seafood or sides, servers happily answer them. No alcohol offered.
AMAZING!! This is perhaps one of the best restaurants I've been to in 2025. Every single dish - fron the Greek salad, to the grilled Dorado, scallops, shrimp and even the French fries - were of the highest quality and tasted SO FRESH! I took my family here for lunch. One of my family members has a few dietary restrictions (no dairy), and they were able to accommodate. The service was excellent. This is a husband and wife labor of love restaurant, and it shows! There's such a great team spirit here, which made our entire experience wonderful. The trek to this Astoria gem is worth it. We can't wait to go back!
I came here with my mother and wife for a nice, relaxed, and delicious lunch/early dinner. Having lived in Manhattan my entire life, I was surprised by how extremely affordable and fair priced the menu was. We got the grilled salmon, sea bass, and calamari+lemon potatoes as an appetizer, along with their refreshing virgin mojitos, which was MORE than enough for 3 people. The fish was tender, flavorful, and fresh, with the staff being extremely attentive and friendly as well. Overall a fantastic meal at a very ambient restaurant, unbelievably fairly priced for the portions and flavor.
The man at the front very kindly explained how to order at this restaurant. The calamari, mashed potatoes, hammis (with garlic bread on the house) and the sautéed monkfish were all amazing and the flavors were balanced expertly. Would come back!!
Had an amazing dinner here! The fish was super fresh and delicious, especially the Algerian-style sardines—absolutely incredible. The vibe was cozy and relaxed, and the host was so kind and welcoming. Can’t wait to go back! Highly recommended
First time dining here & food was delicious I had the sea scallops & they were done to perfection… melt in your mouth. Husband enjoyed the Chilean sea bass immensely. Also cooked to perfection. It was nice to be seated right away by courteous & friendly staff. Highly recommend & look forward to going back again
Absolute amazing experience at Le Petit Pecheur!! I had the scallops and they were absolutely amazing! My husband had the salmon also and it was divine!! Wonderful , delightful staff who made me feel at home and made my day! They were so knowledgeable about the menu and my tastes and made excellent recommendations to me and my party. Definitely not a place to miss!!! I will be back!!
Jeff, Stacy and Hunter are here last night and LOVED 🥰 it! Mateen and wife, Nina, took GREAT care of us! We will be back Tuesday! Our new favorite place! Went back AGAIN and was every bit as delicious as last week! 👍👏
This place handles details well. Restaurant personnel display sincere warmth. This place gets everything right: price, quantity, quality, and service. People here don't put on airs. This place has distinctive qualities!
Outstanding. The way to order; pick your fish, cooking style, and sides, is unique but straightforward. They have a number of regular fish and shellfish selections as well as new options that cycle through. I was the first to have the tuna, which was a perfect medium rare in a lemon garlic sauce. Mateen, the owner, is friendly and knowledgeable. Prices are very fair, especially since the fish is priced by the pound. I'll be back very soon.
An absolute gem for seafood lovers. Every dish tastes incredibly fresh and perfectly prepared The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely warm, making you feel welcomed from the moment you walk in.
My second time here and also this time the grilled fish was cooked in the perfect way. Deliciuos! Very tasty all their apetizers options (I tried all of them) Definitely one of my favourite restaurants. See you soon guys and keep going!
I had an amazing meal at ~ Le PeTiTe Pêcheur ~ The bronzino fish was perfectly grilled—crispy skin and tender, flavorful meat. Paired with the garlic mashed potatoes, it was a match made in heaven. The potatoes were creamy and full of rich garlic flavor, complementing the fish beautifully. The service was excellent, and the cozy atmosphere made it an even more enjoyable experience. Highly recommend this spot for seafood lovers!
Food and prices were fantastic, I got a fish entree and an appetizer for under $20. I got a monkfish which was sautéed to perfection. Scallops were juicy, calamari had that nice grilled toasty taste to them. Lemon potatoes were excellent and very lemony, soup of the day (shrimp bisque) really hit the spot as did the eggplant appetizer. Would definitely go again and bring friends.
fab from start to finish. lovely passionate staff, delicious seafood made to order. do NOT miss the fried sardines, or grilled scallops. beautifully prepared and we had shrimp, sea breen and oysters. soooo fresh. spicy feta dip was incredible. yes, there is no alcohol; we had a martini on the way; and enjoyed pellegrino plus algerian sodas. can’t wait to go back. still thinking about the fried sardines.
Will definitely be coming back, the food was super fresh and well seasoned. The seafood especially fish selection was great and the servers were incredibly friendly, great value too. Amazing cocktails too!
Everything was amazing. The sardines were delicious and felt like I was back home in Algeria The food was so fresh
This place is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood and Astoria! The fish is great and the sides are perfect! Went in for brunch with my parents and we were lucky enough to grab their catch of the day, which was a 4 Pound bass! It was as tasty as it was massive! Friendly staff, clean environment and great seafood! Will be coming back very soon!
Let’s start with the inside of the restaurant because it feels like you traveled to the Mediterranean for a meal. I placed my order which was a Bronzini, Scallops, and Basil Garlic Mashed Potatoes. The service was efficient and I didn’t wait long for my food. The flavors of the fish, how it was seasoned, and the freshness were all top tier. I was very impressed for a new restaurant to deliver like that and I look forward to visiting it again very soon. It’s my go-to seafood restaurant now.
I recently tried this Greek Algerian seafood restaurant right next to my apartment, and I’m so glad I did. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff is genuinely friendly and attentive. But the highlight for me was definitely the food — especially the branzino. It was perfectly cooked, seasoned just right, and had such a fresh, delicate flavor. Honestly, one of the best I’ve had. The portions were generous without feeling heavy, and everything tasted incredibly fresh. It’s quickly become one of my favorite spots in the neighborhood. Highly recommend, especially if you’re a seafood lover.
Le Petit Pêcheur – A Hidden Gem in Astoria Worth the Voyage What an absolute treasure this Algerian family-owned restaurant is! From the moment you walk in, you can feel the warmth of genuine hospitality and the pride they take in every dish. We feasted like royalty on a whole grilled snapper—beautifully seasoned, perfectly charred, and large enough to feed four of us comfortably. The broiled swordfish was equally outstanding—succulent, flaky, and kissed with just the right amount of smoke. The linguini with shrimp and clams in a red sauce was fantastic—rich, aromatic, and bursting with flavor. And the Calamari Provençale? Hands down the best calamari we’ve ever eaten—tender, flavorful, and absolutely addictive. Even the octopus, often tricky to master, was melt-in-your-mouth tender and grilled to perfection. Beyond the incredible food, the service was as lovely as the meal itself—warm, attentive, and effortlessly gracious. Le Petit Pêcheur offers extraordinary quality and value in a relaxed, easygoing atmosphere. A true culinary gem where Mediterranean soul meets New York charm. This is the kind of restaurant you want to tell everyone about—and also selfishly keep to yourself.
New place new experience. Great Mediterranean restaurant with fresh fish (purchased by lb), salads and side dishes are incredibly tasty and full of flavor! I felt like back home on the balcony, next to Mediterranean Sea. It’s new place they need better organizing mgr/staff to greet and welcome people at the front but that’s all. Looking forward to dine again!
Amazing food. This restaurant is such a gem. It have tried the most delicious octopus ever. I also got salmon and asparagus on side. Everything was fresh and tasty. Also lunch special is incredible for this price. Highly recommend.
This place is a must visit in Astoria. The value for the money is unbeatable. I ordered the branzino and it far surpassed some of my favorite spots in Astoria. The level of flavor they achieved for such a delicate fish was unmatched. The swordfish my boyfriend ordered was also seasoned well and cooked perfectly.
This place is great! Really enjoy their food and seasonings. Pricing is not bad at all. The Greek salad is a hit, always get the shrimp and scallops there. The waiters are always so nice and fast. I’ve been here multiple times and never disappointed
Le Petit Pêcheur is a gem for seafood lovers. From the moment I walked in, the warm and inviting coastal décor made me feel like I was right by the ocean. The menu offers an impressive selection of fresh seafood, and the quality is top-notch. The service was also impeccable. The staff was knowledgeable about the dishes and made great recommendations. The portion sizes were generous, and despite being busy, the atmosphere remained relaxed. Prices are on the better side, and the quality of the food and service makes it worth it. I’d recommend Le Petit Pêcheur for a special occasion or a memorable night out. I’ll definitely be returning!
The food was fresh, perfectly cooked and the selection was phenomenal! Service was outstanding Fried calamari was cooked to a golden crisp, tasted very savory with perfect seasoning There was another way they cooked the calamari but it was just as good! Grilled shrimp, AMAZING! the bread was a meal in itself and very delicious. Clams are outrageous and the lemon potatoes, my goodness!! Don't forget the sautéed spinach!!
Le Petit Pêcheur – A Mediterranean Jewel in Astoria Tucked away in Astoria, Le Petit Pêcheur has quickly built a strong reputation since opening a couple of years ago. Known for its fresh fish and Mediterranean flavors, it combines a market-style approach to seafood with the warm hospitality of a family-run restaurant. Atmosphere & Setting The restaurant captures the essence of the Mediterranean with its blue-and-white décor, reminiscent of seaside towns in Greece, Algeria, or Sidi Bou Saïd in Tunisia. The space is cozy, often buzzing with energy even at off-hours. On our visit for a late lunch around 2:30 pm, we were surprised to find the restaurant almost full, a clear sign of its popularity with locals and regulars alike. How It Works The experience begins at the fish counter, where guests choose from a selection of fresh seafood and fish on display. The staff then asks how you’d like it prepared, grilled, fried, or sautéed, before you return to your table to explore the menu of side dishes, salads, and drinks (including Algerian famous Hamoud Boualem). This interactive element sets the tone: simple, fresh, and personal. Food & Flavors The menu isn’t extensive, which is often a positive sign, it focuses on doing a few things exceptionally well. It features a mix of Mediterranean staples and Algerian specialties that highlight fresh ingredients and straightforward cooking. Seafood Selection: We tried jumbo shrimp grilled, whiting fried, flounder sautéed, and a small portion of Portuguese sardines marinated in-house. Every dish was cooked with care. The shrimp were perfectly tender yet slightly crisp, the sardines packed with flavor, the flounder delicate and well-seasoned, and the whiting golden and satisfying. Sides & Appetizers: To complement the seafood, we ordered "Hmiss", a classic North African dish of roasted green peppers, tomatoes, and garlic served warm with a drizzle of olive oil, a simple but deeply flavorful starter. The grilled asparagus added freshness and balance, while the garlic bread (likely complimentary) was a welcome touch. Service Flow: The dishes arrived quickly, perhaps a little too quickly for such a spread. Next time, we’d request staggered service to savor each fish one at a time. Also, tables for two can feel tight if you order several dishes, but staff remain attentive, checking in frequently to make sure everything is to your liking. Even the owner stopped by with a smile to ensure our meal was going well, a gesture much appreciated. Service & Hospitality From start to finish, the service was warm, professional, and efficient. The man at the counter explained everything clearly, and the servers maintained a friendly balance of attentiveness without hovering, hospitality is one of the restaurant’s strongest assets. Overall Impression Le Petit Pêcheur is a rare find: a place where the food is fresh, authentic, and consistently well-prepared, and where the atmosphere evokes the Mediterranean coast without pretense. Between the vibrant décor, the interactive seafood counter, and the outstanding dishes, the restaurant offers a dining experience that feels both unique and welcoming. We left more than satisfied, already planning to return. This is a spot to recommend to friends, family, or anyone looking for a taste of the Mediterranean in Queens. Verdict: Highly recommended, especially for seafood lovers who appreciate simple preparation and authentic flavors.
If you love fresh seafood, this place is an absolute must-visit! The quality of the fish is out of this world—you get to pick your own, and they cook it exactly how you like it: grilled, sautéed, or fried. Every bite was packed with flavor, and you can truly taste the freshness. On top of that, the service is exceptional—friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. Whether you're a seafood lover or just looking for an unforgettable meal, you will not be disappointed. Highly recommend!
So I went here last week with my wife and my daughter. I must say they had a really big selection of seafood all types of fish, different types of shrimp. The place was super clean to be honest. The staff was really nice. The vibes were chill. Actually makes you feel like you’re in a restaurant in Europe.
This was my second visit to Le Petit Pecheur, and once again, they truly exceeded my expectations with their incredible food options, delightful flavors, and wonderful customer service. The Salmon, lobsters, and shrimp were grilled to perfection, and the hummus dip with pita bread was simply out of this world. My best friend and I were fortunate to be served by Douglas, who is genuinely one of the kindest and most attentive servers we've ever encountered. Thank you, Douglas, for making our birthday dinner date not just enjoyable, but truly special. We're already looking forward to returning and creating more lovely memories soon.
Quite possibly one of the best seafood spots in NYC. We got the grilled red snapper, mussels, fried calamari, asparagus, lemon potatoes. Everything was PERFECTION. The red snapper was so juicy and flavorful. The mussels with their white sauce is a must have. I will be seeing those mussels in my dreams.
Lovely staff, cute place, reasonable prices. This is a casual place- no alcohol of any kind, plastic bowls, order mains at the counter. Service was efficient, nice variety of fish served grilled or fried (including 2 kinds of sardines). We had a good time and left full and happy. (Views of a gas station, it would be nice to have curtains)
I truly enjoyed my time here. The food was amazing—delicious Mediterranean seafood. The service exceeded expectations; the staff and waiters were very kind, attentive, and hospitable. I especially loved the sardines and the grilled shrimp—my friend and I could not stop eating them. The food was very fresh and clean. As a suggestion, I would love to see Algerian fish soup added to the menu (the blended-style soup), and perhaps a slightly spicy version of the stuffed sardines, or at least a spicy option on the side for those who enjoy heat. I highly recommend this restaurant to my friends, and I will definitely be back with my family.
An excellent dining experience from start to finish. The hospitality was outstanding, and the staff were extremely professional, friendly, and attentive, always making sure everything was perfect. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. I especially enjoyed the grilled sardines perfectly cooked, well seasoned, tender on the inside, and full of rich flavor. Truly delicious. A highly recommended seafood restaurant, and I will definitely be coming back again
First of all, it's a great restaurant that doesn't serve alcohol. The small but very clean atmosphere allows me to see and choose my seafood, and I can even customize the cooking method, which is satisfying. The food tastes two thumbs up. It's not greasy at all, and the light flavors are balanced with a variety of seasonings to create a fantastic flavor. The garlic butter mussels and sautéed swordfish is phenomenon. Grilled calamari, clams linguine pasta, grilled asparagus, and lemon potatoes were all excellent. Staff is friendly and attentive. I'd love to visit again, and I'd recommend this place.
If you are looking for fresh, high-quality seafood at a great price, look no further! The quality is incredible, you can taste the freshness in every bite. The staff are very friendly and make you feel welcome the moment you walk in; Mateen especially was so helpful! It’s rare to find such a perfect balance of quality and value. Definitely recommended!
First off, no alcohol is served here, this small and clean Mediterranean restaurant is the place to eat away from home. You get to choose your favorite seafood which is then prepared to your liking. There are delicious sides to order from as well. The mint drink is quite tasty and pairs perfectly with the seafood. Desert is also a treat as they serve one of the creamiest crème brûlée 🍮 NINA is such a gentle server, attentive and sweet.
came all the way from Long Island because we heard so many good reviews and it definitely lived up to it!! service was fantastic, food was INCREDIBLE, definitely a must for any seafood lover. food was seasoned to perfection and atmosphere reminded us of the Middle East again, we loved it and will definitely be back!!
10/10! Meal was excellent from start to finish. Beet salad was great, eggplant dip to die for, scallops and branzino superb, dessert was great too. Service and ambience were also exceptional. We came on a Tuesday night so it was pretty empty but got busier towards the end of our visit… I have a feeling this place will blow up soon. I wish them lots of business and a long stay in Astoria.
Exceptionally fresh seafood across the board. Nothing was overcooked or overly seasoned — everything was tender, juicy, and well-balanced. You can really taste the quality of the fish and shellfish. Easily one of the better seafood meals I’ve had in Astoria.
Such a 10/10 experience. Our waiter Mateen was so friendly and kind. Food was soo incredibly fresh and was definitely some the best seafood I’ve ever had. Definitely recommend the grilled branzino and fried calamari!!! Overall environment and service were both amazing. Will be back!!!
The food was spectacular. As my partner and I were indulging in the mind blowing sautéed scallops a groovy ambiance of North African, French, and Arabic music played in the background. This restaurant is a MUST try!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Le Petit Pêcheur is a hidden gem in Astoria! The seafood is incredibly fresh from the grilled branzino great side to share everything is perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the staff was really nice and friendly. It feels upscale but still relaxed the kind of place you’ll keep coming back to. Highly recommend! 🐟✨
We had dinner two times in this place and is amazing! The seafood is delicious as well as super fresh! We recommend the grilled octopus, the grilled and fried calamari but also the shrimps! The restaurant has a beautiful environment, we love the service and it’s a must try if you are in Astoria! We will come back there tonight! Amazing the owners!
5/5 experience! I’ve been here twice and ordered the Ecuadorian shrimp, branzino, whiting, seafood pasta, sardines and marlin. Every dish comes out perfectly seasoned and not fishy tasting (some fish can be too fishy even for the seafood eater)! There’s also a $20 lunch special during the weekday which comes with your choice of seafood fillet/shrimp, side and soda. There’s also sides to choose from and salads to buy. The service also includes bread on the side (no charge) and the service here is attentive. I didn’t even have to say to make sure to bring all the food out at the same time - it happened automatically! I highly recommend this local seafood restaurant and for sure will return.
Food was delicious! Love the personal Algerian twist to the seafood! Everything they brought out felt like it was cooked with the highest quality and products. We enjoyed every single bite and can’t wait to return to continue trying everything else out on the menu. Not seafood but would definitely recommend the roasted eggplant! Trust me.
This might have been one of my favorite Greek choose-your-own-fish restaurants in NYC so far. Super fresh seafood, excellent cooking, and reasonable price
Fresh - that's what you can expect from their seafood selection. The atmosphere and thr vibe of this place makes you feel relax. Great staff with top notch service. Though I wish they have alcoholic cocktails 😉. Definitely a must try place.
Fresh and tasty everything, only thing I ordered calamari 2 times, 2nd time it had olives that wasn’t good. But I’d definitely go back again.

I didn’t even have to say to make sure to bring all the food out at the same time - it happened automatically! I highly recommend this local seafood restaurant and for sure will return.
Fresh - that's what you can expect from their seafood selection. The atmosphere and thr vibe of this place makes you feel relax. Great staff with top notch service. Though I wish they have alcoholic cocktails 😉. Definitely a must try place.
Nice place, clean and bright with a good selection of fresh seafood but not as much variety as the other fresh counter spots in the neighborhood. The calamari, sea bass and Greek salad were excellent. The tiger prawns were not as sweet as those I’ve had at other fresh counter places. The lemon potatoes and sardines were ok. Despite other reviews saying this place was BYOB they neither serve alcohol NOR allow you to bring your own! We were told we could not open a bottle of wine we had brought. For that reason it’s definitely not a celebratory type spot but nice for lunch perhaps.
The fish was so fresh and cooked perfectly, I would just say they go very light on the seasoning here. The service could also use some improvement, nobody came to take our order for drinks or sides until I had to get up and ask. Overall very good quality seafood and tasty!
The staff were great, and the seafood looked super fresh, but the execution on the cooking just didn’t deliver. I’m also not sure what makes it “Algerian” since most of the menu feels more Greek. The Belgian fries were basically thin hand-cut fries with some oregano, salt, and pepper, they weren’t crispy at all like traditional Belgian fries. The shrimp were cooked perfectly but lacked flavor, and the fried calamari wasn’t crispy at all. On the flip side, the Branzino was excellent—cooked perfectly, deboned for you, and honestly better than anything I’ve had at the seafood places in Astoria. The Branzino definitely stole the show. I will give this spot a 2nd chance.
Get ready to clutch your pearls: I've not yet been to Abuqir. Gasp! Shock! Horror! Won't someone please think of the CHILDREN??? In my defense, doesn't this mean my review of Le Petit Pecheur (which always makes me think of George Bizet's underrated opera, for all you Romantic Era nerds) wil be...purer? No annoying comparisons and such? I digress. We came, we seafood-ed, we smiled. - Fried Sardines: My favorite dish of the night. Perfectly breaded, lightly crispy, totally filling, yet not briney or heavy. I think I'm in love.... - Baba Ganoush + Hummus + Pita: I forget why we ordered these, but they were tasty and creamy and made a nice distraction while we waited for our entrees. - Grilled Octopus: Perfectly chewy and zesty, exactly the kind of poulpe you might enjoy on the beachy coast of the southern Mediterranean. - Scallops: Also well cooked, and tastier than they had any right to be considering the simple seasoning. - Shrimp Linguine in butter garlic sauce: I mean, you really can't go wrong with a dish like this. My only regret was having to share it with five other friends. - Branzino: Butterflied, tender and full of flavor. There are many branzino dishes out there. This one won't break the bank, and will leave both your stomach and your wallet happy. If you need more, definitely pad your meal with Mashed Potatoes and Fries because carbs are happy things, and happy things deserve to be eaten. Space is ample, as are the portions, and service is quick and friendly. They play a lovely mix of North African French and Arabic music, which just adds to the beachy resort town atmosphere, IMO. Perhaps one day I'll finally make it to Abuqir, and the cycle will be complete.
We visited as a group of three adults and two kids and ordered a variety of seafood plates to share. Everything came out really quickly, which was great, especially with kids at the table! The food was good overall — the seafood soup wasn’t quite my favorite, but the rest of the dishes were tasty and we enjoyed trying different plates together. Service was okay.
Astoria has many options for pick your own seafood places, so I was curious when I saw this newer one pop up. We got the octopus, scallops, lobster tails, shrimp, two sides, and asked for all the seafood to be grilled. The shrimp was definitely the best thing out of the bunch. The rest was not bad, but cooking was definitely a bit inconsistent. The octopus and scallops could've used more grilling, but the lobsters were too burnt in some places which made it hard to chew. Service was nice and quick. Total came out to around $150 with two sodas.

It was OK! 🙁 I really wanted to love this place and it does have its merits. I can tell it’s a mom and pop spot and there’s love. Food was tasty overall but there were details that were enough not to come back. Hamido is definitely a better option. Here’s why 👇 $7 for one potato cut in four pieces 😤 Rubbery tough lobster tail 😭 Chairs that are falling apart? 😕 Flies hovering constantly 🪰 Spent $100 or so for an OK dinner for two.
Disappointed for the following reasons: 1. No lobster and limited selection of seafood. Mind boggling at a “seafood” place 2. Too many flies 3. Waiter got our order wrong, forgot items, charged us for said forgotten items and took too long to get us our bill. 4. Shrimp definitely overcooked. Rubbery. 5. Way to pricey for having above issues.
The restaurant is definitely a great option for people who really love fish the dishes are fresh and the presentation is nice. For me personally, the taste was a little too “fishy.” I felt like some plates were missing flavor or seasoning, and the sides could use improvement because they didn’t really complement the fish. It wasn’t bad, just not balanced. Overall, it was an okay experience. If you’re a big seafood lover, you might enjoy it more than I did. The quality of the fish is there, but I think they could work a bit more on flavor and the side dishes.

We just dined here tonight. The concept of fresh fish served is wonderful, however the execution leaves a lot to be desired. Everything severely lacked proper seasoning. A disappointing dinner overall.
I don’t usually write negative reviews about restaurants—especially small businesses—because I understand the impact that can have. However, today was our last visit to Le Petite Pêcheur. We’ve been there about five times in the last 10 months. When we first started going, we were genuinely surprised and delighted by the quality of the seafood, the flavors, and the service. Unfortunately, the last two visits have not lived up to that standard, and today’s experience left a particularly sour taste in our mouths—literally. For this meal, my husband ordered fried fish, and we also ordered a peasant salad, lemon potatoes, grilled octopus, and six grilled scallops for me. The salad and the octopus were very good. However, my husband’s fried fish was not flaky and did not taste fresh at all—even though we selected it ourselves from the front display. My scallops were even more concerning: they tasted extremely off. My husband tried one and agreed, and even my daughter—who usually loves scallops—refused to eat them. When I pressed a couple with my fork, a strange, dark liquid came out, and up close they smelled spoiled. I discreetly flagged down the waiter with the dish in my hands and away from others, explained what we experienced, and returned the plate with three scallops still on it. I told him I did not want a replacement dish. Despite this, there was no apology, no follow-up, and no effort to check on us or address the issue for the rest of the meal. Additionally, the lemon potatoes were burnt on the outside and undercooked inside. I was also confused as to why the same sauce or juice appeared to be used across multiple dishes (scallops, potatoes, and octopus), and why every dish was heavily seasoned with oregano. We also noticed that the seafood display at the front was exposed to direct afternoon sun with the case doors open, which may have affected freshness. When the check arrived, I expected—at minimum—that the scallops would be removed as a courtesy, but they were not. After our previous visit, we brushed it off as “maybe just a bad night in the kitchen.” But after two disappointing experiences in a row—both in food quality and service—it feels like something has changed, whether a new chef or different kitchen staff. We truly loved this restaurant during our first three visits and appreciated having it as a calmer alternative to places like Hamido or Abuqir. Sadly, we don’t feel comfortable returning.
