Alias Coffee Albany Reviews
Alias Coffee in downtown Albany is a wonderful discovery for coffee lovers and remote workers alike. The space is large and thoughtfully divided into different sections — from comfy sofas and poufs to a long communal table — allowing guests to choose the vibe that suits them best. Whether you’re here for focused work or casual relaxation, the layout makes it easy to settle in. The coffee itself is excellent. We ordered a cortado and a latte, both prepared with care and served promptly. The staff is friendly and professional, maintaining a warm atmosphere without being intrusive. Their efficiency and positive attitude add to the overall experience, making you feel welcome whether you’re a regular or a first-time visitor. What stands out most is how well the café balances its purpose. It caters perfectly to two main crowds: office workers looking for a high-quality to-go coffee and people wanting to spend a few productive hours on-site. The environment is lively but not overwhelming, with just the right level of background buzz to feel connected without being distracted. Overall, Alias Coffee offers great drinks, a pleasant setting, and a versatile space that adapts to different needs. It’s definitely a spot we’d return to — whether for work, a quick caffeine fix, or just to enjoy the atmosphere.
I’ve only tried the coffee so it’s a bit too early to do a review. I’ll update this after my wife tries the Matcha. The coffee is good. The place looks amazing, with lots of room for an improve meeting if need be.
Grabbed a hot chocolate, a chocolate croissant, and a cortado. Great astmosphere, and a cool place to sit and hang out. The hot chocolate was deliciously rich in flavor, but not overwhelming. The croissant was soft. They also have great vegan options as well!
What a lovely place! It did take me a couple trips around the block and some bad parallel parking to find a parking spot but once I did, it was a great. The menu is simple and they offered 3 flavored syrups as options so don’t come if you’re looking for a fru fru (spelling? I made it up) coffee drink. My maple latte was delicious and the foam design was just what I was looking for. I also spent an hour in the comfy chairs in the front window and I will absolutely return.
Best coffee I’ve found in Albany. The shop is very cute with great decor and seating. They also play great jazz music in here on their speakers. The coffee was very tasty with good latte art. The staff were super friendly and nice. They clearly take great care in their coffee and espresso!
Is the great coffee shop highly recommended if you have good taste and coffee specifically third wave. One of the best lattes and cappuccinos I have ever tasted. They have an excellent coffee program and they roast their own beans. The space is absolutely amazing. Great to work and they have Wi-Fi.
A great place to journal. I spent about two hours sitting here as I enjoyed two delicious cappuccinos and a croissant. Immaculate vibes with some throwback music playing in the background. Other patrons were able to work remotely or have a casual or business meeting. The owner and staff were exceptional. They were warm, welcoming, and friendly. I would highly recommend stopping in Alias Coffee whenever you walk by. It is a little gem of a cafe in the heart of Albany’s downtown!
$3 double shot espresso that's so good it should be $9. This place hands down beats Stacks and Greg's coffee with it's smooth and rich in house roasted coffee. Friendly and amazing atmosphere. Great for co-working, studying, or grabbing a cup on the go. Also hosts love jazz sessions regularly. Hands down a go-to place in the Hudson valley.
Love the vibe. This place just opened and we were happy to stumble upon it while visiting Albany for a wedding. My oat milk latte was great. Featured freshly picked wildflower bouquets (proceeds went to charity). Lots of seating, very cute space.
Comfortable, good coffee, well priced and quiet shop. I did not try any of the baked goods but they looked good! Highly recommend the corrtado.
I can say without reservation that this is the finest coffee house in Albany. Indeed, it could hold its own in any city in the country. If you have the urge for excellent coffee, this should be your first choice.

Alias Coffee is the kind of spot that makes you want to become a “regular.” The coffee is smooth, flavorful, and clearly made with care (no burnt espresso vibes here). The vibe is modern but cozy—like the kind of place where you can both get work done and lose track of time chatting with a friend. The baristas are friendly without being over the top, and they know their beans. Bonus: the latte art is so good it almost feels wrong to drink it… almost. Definitely one of Albany’s hidden gems for coffee lovers.
Stopped by as we were traveling through Albany. Went in because it was close and open and were pleasently surprised at how wonderful the coffee was was . My we lived here we would be regulars.wife is really picky. She loved her drink so much she bought a bag of beans. The barista wad friendly and charming. If
One of the best (hot) lattes I’ve had in a long time. Wonderful flavor, temperature was perfect. With a splash of homemade brown sugar simple syrup. My husband had their regular black coffee and he said it was superb. The barista was friendly and efficient. We’re glad we chose this coffee shop as we were just passing thru Albany. 100% recommend.
The oat cappuccino was SO good. Like, actually one of the best I’ve had. Creamy, perfect balance — 10/10. Andrew was super warm, friendly, and actually took the time to chat instead of just rushing through the order. It felt genuine, and that kind of vibe makes such a difference.
The best coffee in upstate NY The staff is friendly and knowledgeable with coffee. Great Service. Love Andrew, he's the best Barista I've ever met. He keeps them coming back.

I got a latte for there. The art was beautiful and the coffee delicious! And the worker behind the counter was very kind and patient.

I am a coffee professional with over 15 years in the business. I've been all over the world, and have had the opportunity to experience some of the best cafes and coffees out there: So I can confidently confirm that Alias Coffee ranks amongst the best. From the decor, to the atmosphere and lighting, walking through the entrance I immediately felt welcomed and drawn in. I spoke with a barista and the owner, both of whom have a passion for coffee, and were friendly. The coffee itself is excellent. Roasted well, the espresso when I was in was a blend of two coffee whose flavor profiles perfectly complimented one another, resulting in an espresso that was sweet, mildly acidic, and a perfect balance of nutty, dark cacao, and red fruit. 10/10 recommend.
Decent cup of coffee. This was a recommendation from a patron from another shop. For an iced latte they only have a 16 oz and it's pricier than most shops in the capital district. It's cute inside with nice seating. They don't have signature drinks and I couldn't tell if there were syrup flavors. Service was below average. Very basic coffee shop.

Reviewers were right! Incredibly delicious coffee and a cool environment. The noise level made it hard to think! There was a small group of people chatting at the bar and a half dozen other customers and the volume hovered at 90db, the same as power tools and lawn mowers. Some baffling or other acoustic enhancement would make this place a 10/10!

Update: Removing one star due to their defensive reply to my review. I stopped in for a coffee and picked up a pre-made sandwich from the cooler. The space was cozy and a nice spot to sit for a bit, use the Wi-Fi, and enjoy a quick bite. One small note: the sandwich was labeled (and charged) as turmeric-spiced tofu, but I’m pretty sure it was actually salmon or tuna. It wasn’t a big deal for me personally, but I could see that being an issue for someone with dietary restrictions. That said, it’s a great spot overall and I’d definitely recommend it for anyone looking for a good coffee shop in Albany.
Good coffee but staff gave weird vibes + service. They were openly arguing in front of customers and shit talking other employees. Not a good idea to do in front of customers about to pay. The barista was clearly flustered and kind of seemed to take it out on customers.
