Lao/Thai Kitchen Albany Reviews
Love this place. Great staff and family friendly. Food is awesome. Got their stuffed chicken wings on their “off the menu specials”. The portion are limited, which makes it feel extra special. If you get the chance, don’t miss out!!
I've been coming here consistently for about a year now! It's a cute little restaurant with wonderful and fun staff! I wished I found this place sooner! I come here all the time now with friends, their food is simply amazing and can tell they put a lot of love and work into it! By far my favorite Lao-Thai restaurants in the East Bay!
Delicious Lao-Thai-inspired comfort food in a warm, family-friendly setting. My family and I enjoyed the yellow curry with chicken, tofu pad see ew, the fish fillet special, and roti with ice cream.
I love your SOMTAM !🥭All dish are delicious and heartfelt.. and hosts are kind and very speedy. They look proud of their foods and I think it deserves. I will be back and enjoy their other dish.
Great family-owned restaurant. Came in on a Tuesday and was lucky that there's no line. I got the fried calamari and chicken pad Thai. Both tasted great and the pad Thai portion was very generous.
The food is delicious and not overpriced. The woman who runs it is very friendly, it really feels like a family restaurant. Tonight I ordered to go for the first time and asked if they could put the food into my own containers (I wanted to skip the single use boxes to avoid waste) and they said yes. It's definitely one of my favorite restaurants on Solano avenue!
Very delicious Pad See Ew. I highly recommend getting it with seafood as your protein. Very yummy and perfectly seasoned. Thai iced tea was exquisite. Sweet, creamy and cool. Perfect drink for the 90 degree weather we're having on this beautiful October day. -_- Please visit this place they are kind and bring out dishes in a speedy manner. Highly recommend this place.
Best Thai food I've had. Great service and cool, comfy decor inside.

Very good Lao food, huge portions and prompt service. The jeow bong was great with noodles (we got kua mee). Ordered for twice the amount of people because everything looked so delicious and we couldn't choose!
The owner is very friendly and remembers what we like even though we’ve only been there a few times.
First time dining here, the food is amazing with delicious and authentic flavors. The service is also spectacular, staff is friendly and welcoming. Would recommend to anyone looking for delectable Thai food in the east bay! Highly recommend the Pad See-Ew, and Green Curry they were both really good. The Papaya salad Thai style was also amazing. A bit spicy but in a good way. A really wonderful mix of cool and heat. Fun Fact: Tables come equipped with little call buttons, something I have not seen at a restaurant before, very neat little technology integration at a restaurant.
Honestly probably the best pad see ew I've ever had. The noodles were the perfect level of chewiness with a nice bit of char on the bottom, the meat was seasoned and tender, the vegetables had a nice bite. So so good, I wish the portion was a bit larger for the price, about $16, but besides that amazing. The duck curry was also great, super flavorful and I was drinking it out of the ladle. The curry puffs were also fried perfectly and had a super tasty filling. Also got to try a bit of the Thai Iced Coffee and it was also amazing, I might get it the next time I go. And I will be going back. The owner was extremely nice and it was 10/10 service. Highly recommend if you want some authentic and delicious Thai food.
Love Lao Thai! We’ve been coming here for 25 years. The food is always delicious and Bua the owner is a ray of sunshine. A great value for really good food!
Don’t miss out on eating here! So delicious! The staff is so friendly and welcoming. We ordered Thai tea, egg rolls, beef noodle soup and yellow curry. 10/10 on everything! The food tasted so authentic and homemade. Hands down best curry I’ve had. Will definitely eat here again.
Lao Thai Kitchen is delicious and SPICY! This restaurant is fantastic! Excellent friendly service and great atmosphere as well. It's extremely rare to find food this spicy in the Bay Area. The food is just the right amount of spice for a nice sizzle on your tongue. We had the pad Thai spice level 7, Panang curry spice level 10, Lao sausage, Lao papaya salad and duck noodle soup. All were delicious. 5 out of 5!

I love Lao Thai Kitchen! The curries are incredible, service is excellent, and it’s overall just a great neighborhood spot. A gem.

We came here for dinner and had a great meal! We ordered the Thai iced tea to drink, the Lao sausages as an appetizer, and the pad see ew with beef, phao larb, and yellow curry with chicken as mains. Everything was good, and the service was excellent! The spice levels here are no joke, so definitely stay below levels 2-3. The owner is super nice, and she even explained the differences between Laotian and Thai cuisine to us!
I enjoyed my dining experience quite a bit. Came on Saturday for lunch. I think it’s the only day they are open for lunch. service is amazing. So friendly and informative. It seems like she really likes her job and the customers. Thai iced coffee was better than the Thai iced tea. Started off with a’ Special’ appetizer of salmon belly salad. I’m no salad fan but this was good. I like the dressing; forget the salmon belly. Then the wings appetizer… best dish of all of them. Crispy, sweet and just the right tang and spice. Pad see ew is my next favorite. Think stir fried noodles with veggies and beef. Yellow curry with chicken is the good old standby. You can’t go wrong. The only dish I did not like was the eggplant and tofu. The eggplant was overbooked which made it fall apart, yet the outer sun was really tough. But I’ll be back again to try other new dishes.
Very friendly hostess - food came quick and tasty. Will be back to try the other items from the menu but I tasted the following so far: LTK fried wings, Pad Kee Mao, Thai Basil fried rice, papaya salad

As someone who's Lao, I was excited to try Lao Thai Kitchen, but unfortunately, it was a bit of a letdown. While the restaurant offers Lao cuisine, the flavors didn't quite match what I'm used to. The dishes were okay but I feel just didn't taste the same as the flavors that I've grown used to. The portion sizes felt smaller than expected for the price, and considering the relatively high cost, I didn't feel like I got the best value. The sticky rice, which is such an important part of Lao meals, was also priced quite expensively, and the portion didn’t feel justified. Overall, while it wasn’t a bad meal, Lao Thai Kitchen didn’t live up to my expectations. For the price, I expected more in both taste and portion sizes. It’s decent, but as someone who’s familiar with Lao food, it didn’t quite hit the mark.
Tried this place for the first time and it was an interesting bittersweet experience. I'm Southeast Asian so I have high expectations. The first two dishes we ordered were the Laos sausage (we asked for extra charred and crispy) and chicken wings. These two dishes were glorious. Like jaw dropping. God smacking. So packed with flavor and just so delicious. This got us really excited for our entrees. We ordered the basil stir fry and pad kee mao and were deeply dissapointed. Right off the bat, the color was off and the taste even more so. I wanted to like these so bad since the first two dishes we ordered were so amazing. Service was great and the place is small but homey. I think this is what it is. They do the Laos food really well and the Thai food not so well. I think they also try to cater to a certain demographic... I loved the first two dishes so much, I'm going to come back and try their specialties and Laos dishes, because I think that's where the magic is. Update to come
