Shanghai Wok Albany Reviews
I have been going to this place for most of my conscious life and the food, people, and prices are amazing. 10/10
Seeing all the low reviews honestly surprises me. Haven't had any problems over here, and I eat here somewhat regularly. Food is always delicious, portions are good, and it's honestly the only place that ACTUALLY means spicy when they say spicy haha. Staff is quick and efficient, never had any sort of rudeness from them. The sampling can be rather aggressive, but to be honest, they have great food to prove it. Honestly probably the best 15 bucks I can spend on lunch in the entire mall.
I LOVE the food here, and I REALLY hope the pandemic didn't put them out of business! 😢 $5 easily gets you a double serving of your choice in meat and 2 sides. If you order rice, you get a ton of it, and it's delicious! Not to mention the speed of service! They're so efficient!
First let me say I lost my dog Oprah a few days ago. I enjoy the food at Cajun Cafe and I ordered my favorite seseme chicken, but when I took the first bite I bit into something hard and when I pulled it out it was my dogs collar. But I tossed it aside and continued eating because it tasted so good 😍😘😍😘😎😎😚

The reviews baffle me. Food is always good and the price is so cheap. Can't complain.

Food is good but with all the customers they try to get to purchase in the mall you’d think the plates would be bigger. This is the smallest portion I’ve ever received at a Chinese food court place. 😕😕😕 This is supposed to be a 2 meats/2 sides.
The food’s good, but apparently paying for it is optional—at least until everyone else in line has ordered. Waited a solid five minutes just to hand over my money while two employees ignored the register. The woman in front of me got the same VIP treatment. It’s happened more than once, so maybe it’s part of the business model: keep a line going to look busy. 🤔
“You can’t beat 2 proteins and 2 sides for $6.99… except there is an identical place called china max 25 feet away with faster service, same food, and better portions.

Extremely disappointing and unsafe experience. I’ve visited this establishment several times in the past without issue, but this most recent visit on 8/4 was unacceptable. As my friend and I approached the food court to browse, we were pressured by a staff member to get in line before we even had a chance to decide what we wanted after taking a sample. I ended up paying nearly $11 for a chicken and rice meal with a fountain drink. The rice was completely flavorless, and the drink contained strange black particles at the bottom. I tried to overlook it until I then discovered a chunk of metal cooked into my chicken. We also found small pieces of paper in both of our meals. I brought this to the attention of the woman at the front who gave us the samples and said I needed a refund. She seemed genuinely shocked and directed me to the register. However, the man at the register (possibly the owner) was extremely dismissive and rude. He took the food, scurried to give me $7 back in cash, and claimed the leftover $3 that I wasn’t refunded for was for the drink, which he said was “fine” and that my meal was only $6.99. There was no apology, no acknowledgment of how serious the issue was, and no accountability. It seemed as if he didn’t want to make the customers in line turn away from buying their meals. Food safety should never be compromised. I think this whole situation was extremely unacceptable and unprofessional. It’s clear the reputation of this business is more important than the customers satisfaction and safety. If I could give this place 0 zero stars for this experience alone I would.
I ordered lomein and fried rice, orange chicken, spicy bourbon chicken. Except for fried rice, so so. Especially fried rice, taste is too too bad for me. I’m Japanese. But this taste wouldn’t be accepted for everyone.

I’m a regular China Max eater, but I wanted to give this place a shot and honestly, I regret it. The food just wasn’t it. The green beans tasted like they were barely blanched no flavor, no salt, nothing. The portion sizes were super small (not worth $20) and both the lo mein and the rice (which I even paid an extra $3 for) were completely flavorless. I had to drown everything in soy sauce just to get through the meal. Definitely won’t be coming back. I’ll be sticking with China Max from now on. At least the people were very friendly and had great service
I have been ordering this three times a week, and it was absolutely delicious. Today, I placed my regular order of three parts, Bourbon chicken + a choice of two sides. I am extremely disappointed that the photo above is the portion sizes I've received. This is unacceptable. especially as a long-term and frequent customer. There's one portion of chicken, IF THAT, a few potatoes that weren't fully cooked and a ton of rice. For the price, this is wrong. They also forgot my extra sauce, which I place with each order, every...single...time; this caused the tiny bit of chicken to be dry and tasteless. I'm considering asking for a refund, but they could not be reached at any of their contact numbers online. Wow!
Go to China Max across the way for cleanliness, good quality food and good service. Do not go here. The staff are rude to customers. I decided to order here because the line was shorter. I’ve never in my life been treated so poorly at a restaurant. First off, the line is chaotic and the food upon closer inspection looked pretty old. Secondly, they don’t take orders or payment in the order of the line so the man behind me paid first while they held on to my CREDIT CARD on the back counter for an inordinate amount of time. I would say they had my card for 3 to 5 minutes while I waited for them to take cash payments from people behind me and take new orders. When I received my food I was not provided sauces or napkins in the bag. I requested sauces and chopsticks. The man slammed down my chopsticks on the counter like I was inconveniencing him. I didn’t take it and to be honest, I barely wanted to take the food. I don’t believe in taking anything from someone given in anger or hate. This restaurant hates their paying customers. It was such a horrible experience and made me realize why waiting in line at China max is worth it! I have never been treated rudely at China Mac and my request for anything is treated with respect and curtesy. The food at China max is fresh and good quality. The staff listen to customers and don’t have visible disdain for them. Avoid CAJUN CAFE at all costs.
DO NOT EAT HERE. Ordered lo mein and honest to God got spaghetti. Real spaghetti. And the 3 sides of chicken amounted to a couple forks fulln half of them just tendon and grizzled. Completely not edible. Absolutely disgusting.
this was THE nastiest food I’ve ever had in my life.
Not all that bland and old. My noodles were burnt also had no veggies just spaghetti. They skimp on the food and are kinda rude for example they kept rushing me. They also need to cook the plantains more.
Extremely pushy, overcharged we asked for the 3.99 deal the tab was put well over that at $16 for the most skimped portions, the rice and lo mein were ok we thought, the meat on the other hand was unedible whats in this food some mystery rat meat? China max is so much better, if you have no taste in food you came the right place! =)
I ordered this a few days ago on DoorDash and I’ve been sick ever since my stomach is a mess I’ve thrown up and I have very bad diarrhea I went to urgent care and was told I have symptoms that are similar to food poisoning I will never eat here again
I purchased two meals, one without a side after I was harassed with a sample and pushed into their line. They advertise two meats and two sides for $3.99 - no other prices. The total came to $14.02 so I questioned the cashier, she said meat only without a side was $6.99. How can that be when I got less food!!? It was the SAME amount of meat as the other meal I purchased with a side!! Even still it seemed too high to which she claimed was tax. As not to argue with the person who barely spoke English and not upset the impatient line they created by making everyone wait for them to make more samples I just paid for it. When I got home I did the math and found they overcharged me $2.22 because $3.99 + 6.99 +.88 tax is $11.86 (NOT $14.02!!!) TO TOP IT ALL OFF THERE WAS BARELY CHICKEN IN THE ORANGE CHICKEN!!! I feel so ripped off. I will be filing a complaint against this company with NYS. I WILL NEVER EVER GO THERE AGAIN!! Lord knows if it was even chicken?? UGHHH The only reason they get one star is bc Google makes you put at least one, they don't even deserve one star! :(
I go shopping every two or three weeks and every time me and my boyfriend come here. But I've just about had it. They are way to pushy, rude, lie about portions compared to prices and to top it off the last time I came my food was rock hard I brought it back and simply said can I get a new one or my 8 dollars back and with a rude ass attitude she replied "that's fresh I have customers you're blocking traffic" and I told her that I know what fresh is since I'm here often and she walked away. I would not recommend.
