Beyond The Pale Albee Square Reviews
Great Environment, talk about great hospitality i'm from miami new to new york and the owner personally made sure i felt at home! Thanks for the best environment to work from my computer.
I didn't get any food, so no idea on that. However the staff here is a team. They are considerate, prompt, and friendly. They handle large parties, casual tourists, and of course the locals. I don't go to many bars anymore, (sober for 23+ years) but this place made me feel comfortable with all my friends. They make all their own syrups and from my friend's reviews amazing cocktails. Looking for a comfortable place to hang with friends? This is the place, stop looking.
Absolutely love this place! The staff are always incredibly friendly and welcoming. The cocktail menu is full of unique and expertly crafted drinks. The bar is dimly lit with a relaxed atmosphere, making it the perfectly place to meet with friends. Highly recommend, can’t wait to come back!
Spacious and great ambience. The bartenders really know what they're doing. Had an amazing mezcal negroni. The cheese plate was also great. It's not just something restaurant slaps together and charge you 20 bucks for. I was genuinely impressed with all the attention to details. A proper bar with sophistication you will find in luxury hotels.
Fun bar in Soho! I emailed the day before for an 8 person reservation for a work outing and they replied right away and secured us a great table at the front of the bar. I space is much bigger than it looks, with lots of big tables in the back for large groups. The bartender was friendly and made delicious cocktails. The bar snacks were so good, especially the Burrata and the guacamole and chip. Looking forward to going back!
Amazing new spot with friendly staff and even better drinks. In a big group that tried at least 7 different drinks and all were incredible. The chai is dessert in a cup, green goddess is refreshing, and the ranch water is amazing. You can tell there was a lot of thought put into this menu! The atmosphere in here was very cool and trendy. A wide variety of ages but all around friendly patrons.
It's a beautiful sunny but brisk day in February, and you get off the 6train at Spring Street. Before you lies a deep green storefront, freshly painted, a lonely sandwich board asking for patronage. You step in. It's warm but not overly so. It is only somewhat busy but word has not spread of its existence. You order two drinks with average prices and interesting ingredients. You cheers. You sip. You are at a loss for words. You think, "How can there only be this many people when the cocktails taste this balanced, this refreshing?" You sit and take in the space. It will not be long before the message gets around. "Join us." You order a second round, as good if not better than the first. You leave busier than you left it. While it is noisier you note the vibe hasn't changed. You'll be back.
Listen, Beyond The Pale is the place to grab a great cocktail and hang with friends. The Irish lads behind the bar offer an array of cocktails and if you’re looking for something specific I’m sure they can make it happen. The large booths in the back can accommodate everyone in your rat pack and the music selection keeps the good times rolling. Stop by and say Kelso and Alec sent you!
When we went after dinner on a weekday, there was a decent amount of seating, especially towards the back. There was a wide selection of different cocktails. Service was a bit slow as they were short staffed, and it took a while for someone to take our order. Cocktails were solid. Good place to go with a small group and talk in a more intimate setting.
I almost never leave reviews, but this bar absolutely deserves one as a warning to others: do not come here. The overwhelming number of similar reviews are accurate—rude, and hostile bartenders who make patrons, particularly women, feel uncomfortable appear to be the norm. To the bald bartender who snapped at me that “this is New York City order your drink faster or go away” and who continued speaking aggressively to me even after I asked him twice to de-escalate: I really hope you find a less stressful job in your future, because you’re clearly not cut out for this. -Sincerely a fellow New Yorker
Was out for my friends birthday at Beyond the Pale when my phone, and several others were stolen. Upon returning to the bar the next day, I was met with the most unpleasant and rude bartender. While the hostess went to check and see if my phone was returned/in lost and found, the bartender from behind the bar basically yelled at me over his guests to get out, and that “this is just what it is”.. his words… long story short he told me that if the porter found it he “would’ve returned it” While I don’t know who stole my phone, I do find it very suspicious that I wasn’t allowed to check under the empty high top where I was seated… and was screamed at and told to leave. And that multiple people had their phones stolen in the same night? Least to say, I’ll never be returning here again, waitstaff is very questionable.
Door man was hella rude. Wasn’t aware of 25+ beforehand. The dude didn’t let us leave on our own before making us feel poorly and threatening us in the -1 degree weather.
Came in with friends and we just weren’t spoken to (it wasn’t busy). Even when the bartender set the drink menu in front of us he didn’t greet or ask us if we’d like anything kinda just stared. We were the only people of color there and it felt like they wanted us to leave.
One of the bartenders was clearly drunk and acted in a discriminatory and disrespectful way toward my group. We stood in line for about fifteen minutes while he repeatedly ignored us and served people who arrived after us. That alone was frustrating, but it got worse. He forgot who had ordered the drinks he was holding and started walking around asking people to claim them. When he came to us, we told him they weren’t ours but that we’d like to order when possible. In response, he shushed me, yelled that “I’d get my turn,” and gestured downward with his hands as if I were yelling—despite the fact that the confusion was entirely due to his mistake. We stepped outside to speak with the bouncer, who told us this kind of treatment is a regular occurrence for people like us. Go at your own risk.
There’s a blonde young staff that has a horrible attitude. She sounds and acts super rude. Drinks are amazing, bartender lady and other staff were amazing but she’s horrible. I liked coming here but never again. Good luck.
Rudest bartender I’ve ever had. I asked for a drink I saw off the pics online and he said they don’t have that. It was super crowded (so understandably he’s annoyed but also why are you letting that many people in then…) so obviously can’t get a physical menu to everyone. But it upset him so much that I asked for an old drink that he handed me the menu and once I chose something he snatched it back and flung it angrily behind him. I was kinda shocked and for the first time ever felt genuinely uncomfortable talking to a bartender
