After going on a COVID baking blitz we decided it was time to come in to the city from NJ in search of the finest possible sourdough. The most beautiful crust, perfect amount of sourness. Bien Cuit simply put is incredible. We also picked up this milk bread which was particularly enjoyable.

Walked passed this lovely place several times and had to walk in. The croissant was beautiful. As you can see in the cross section view of the picture below, it is flaky. It was also buttery with a lovely crunch on the outside. Takes me back to Paris.... almost.

Excellent neighborhood bakery serving one of the best breads and pastries available in New York City. Their offerings strike a good balance between respecting traditional European rustic breads, and having their own take on sweets and desserts. Their craft and dedication is evident in everything served.

I stumbled upon this place while walking down smith st. I tried their croissant with Brie and ham. I enjoyed it so much, I stopped back 2 days later for a danish with blood orange marmalade and a cappuccino Both times I noticed the savory buttery flavor of the pastry. The blood orange marmalade hit just about every taste bud I have. I've already recommended this place to others and will be going back to try the rest of the menu. If you want to elevate your breakfast, go here

No seating but worth going every day. Excellent coffee, croissant and must try the zaatar n lemon scone. Service with pride.

Good job everyone! Bravo. You've had pizza all around New York but you've not had pizza on puff pastries before. That's for sure but this is the place you come to to see that happen. It tastes amazing. Really good.

Bien cuit is one of the best bakeries in NYC, it's AMAZING. The cinnamon sugar roule and the buck wheat chocolate chip cookies are to die for. The service is always amazing and the workers are always so kind. The atmosphere is so cool, and just everything about this bakery is just great.

“Bien Cuit” means “well done” and that’s exactly what this bakery is. This humble storefront often has a delicious aroma that draws pedestrians in from the street. Their baked goods are extensive and amazing. There are both savory and sweet options. The breads are small batch and baked daily on premise. The design and branding is tastefully done; much like their food. I ordered a cafe mocha ☕️ paired with a financier wrapped with a chocolate bar filling… as you guessed, I’m a chocolate fan! Much of the real estate is taken up by their baking operations hence the lack of seating nor restroom. There’s a small selection of market items which adds a nice touch. In the late afternoon, I’ve also had their ham sandwich on baguette 🥖 which is also excellent. Overall, Bien Cuit is a winner, highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I smelled something delicious on the street so I had to walk in and try something here. I ordered one croissant but the guy gave me 3 for the price of 1, and they were delicious. Highly recommend.

Mind blowing pastries and bread. Pick anything - simplicity and taste are exquisite. Favorite is Danish and Almond Croissants

I love Bien Cuit! I used to live in this neighborhood and got treats from here every so often. I ALWAYS got the almond croissant , which I love. I recently stopped by and decided to venture out into some newness and got the pastry in the photo. It was a tasty mix of sour , sweet and salty. Good , but not something I’ll get to be honest. Definitely a must visit overall though!

I love bread and even more amazing bread ! They make this gorgeous, buttery and flakey croissant! If you get there early enough you get one of this delicacies. They also sell high quality products and well everything is delightful!

When I heard about Bien Cuit I said to myself I have to go. It's super cute place with tables that you can sit and enjoy your coffee and croissant. The products are delicious, well backed and crispy! I took a traditional croissant with butter and jam and daniish with asparagus and cheese, delicious!!

Pretty solid french bakery in Cobble Hill. Croissants are a bit more bread'y than flaky/airy but still quite tasty. Staff have always been nice and coffee drinks are good.

Great customer service! No sit down option but almond croissant was amazing. Super crispy on the inside but fluffy on the inside

Paid $9 for a chocolate almond croissant, which was only alright -- I can't justify the price. Definitely on the sweeter end, and I didn't really taste a difference even with their "bien cuit"/well done style of baking. Overall a decent, but not must-try, croissant.

I love their 🥐croissant ( I made a filling sandwich by myself at home.) and their most famous 🥖sour bread Miche is also good. Especially I highly recommend the dessert ✨Gateau Breton. The only item I think they could work harder on it is the 🍒cherry pane dolce. There was only a little cherry filling inside and hardly taste it. So overall I decided to give 4, if considering the services. I was not that familiar with certain names of pastries/ desserts. As a result I asked a person who replied to me “Read the description.” I said I did but those are names that didn’t explain the details. The person then took out a sheet with ingredients and said “read it by yourself.” I mean, we all know pastries are usually made with flour, egg and butter but who knows if you are making a crispy croissant, or soft sweet bread? Eventually another person helped me and explained.

Slightly expensive. Ambience is nice. Smells great inside. Warm on a cold winter day. Not very spacious or perhaps it may have been full of people. Good luck finding parking on a saturday afternoon. Overall it was a nice spot but hard to get to and hardly no seating.

$1.75 for a very soft, delicious chocolate chip cookie. 4 stars because the selection is somewhat limited. Cute spot for a coffee and pastry while studying.

I've never had such a mid $8 pain au chocolat. I'm not sure if the pastry was stale, but the croissant was tough, not flaky. Every blue moon, I try and give this place a chance, but frankly they're egregiously expensive for a mediocre product.

DO NOT BUY THEIR COFFEE. As delicious as the breads and pastries might be, their iced beverages are such a rip off. Ordered a 20 oz cold brew and it was like 16 oz of ice with 4 oz of coffee! Go to blue bottle or absolute instead for your coffee. Pastries and bread are still good, no doubt. Also definitely a takeaway only place.

Finally stopped in because it always smells amazing, the best buttery bread smell, even in the afternoon. I got a croissant and apple gateau breton. The croissant is big but also clearly way overdone and tasted very ‘meh’. The gateau breton was good, I wouldn’t dream about it but I’m not mad at. Upon getting home, I see I’ve been overcharged as well. Disappointing, just go to Mia’s across the street instead. Edit: I’ve been responded to by the business; even if the concept is a “well done” bake (which I did not know), the croissant did not taste good. The flavors were not deep, it just tasted burnt, not even buttery. Still, I thank you for explaining the intention.

Ask when the cakes were baked. They claim everything is baked fresh, yet the sell-by dates vary, which feels misleading. The baked goods themselves are good, but this business practice needs to change.

$8 for an apple pastry that ended up being a bit over baked, dry, with not that much flavor. Probably wouldn’t bother coming back to try more.

This ain’t it. Other neighborhoods get Radio Bakery, smør, la cabra etc. We get bien cuit. A dated, pokey, burnt bread place for boomers who don’t know how good it actually can be. And to top it all off, the staff completely ignore you as you enter and wait to be served. Instead they’ll carry on talking amongst themselves about what music to play. Feels so awkward as a customer, but they couldn’t care less. They’ve given up.
