Fanelli Cafe Albee Square Reviews
A little gem hidden at the NYC soho. The experience is like walking into a 50s restaurant. Food is good, service is excellent and quick and the people working there are absolutely stunning, including a waiter who is a Jim Morrison clone. $30 per person or €25, is a really good price for the location, quality and service. Thank you!
This place has amazing food. The chili was more warm than hot, but everything was really tasty and fantastic. I’d go when you’ve got a little patience because it’s busy, they don’t care about your business because it’s busy so you’re going to need a pound of patience.
A friend and I visited while our wives were off enjoying the nearby Lip Lab. From the beginning, it was a warm, friendly environment and the beers were cold… The wives joined us and we grabbed a late lunch. Food was very good; personally enjoyed the spinach & mushrooms app. After a very enjoyable couple hours, we went to check out and, to our shock, someone had picked up our tab!! Not 100% sure who but, regardless, that there are the type of people there that would, speaks to the place overall. Will be visiting any time in NYC going forward! Thank you for a wonderful holiday memory.
The cutesiest little place! The food was really expensive, which is to be expected in the city, but we split the margherita pizza appetizer ($20) and it was just enough and very good! Got seated immediately near the exit door, and the atmosphere felt very cozy and definitely fit w/ the history of the restaurant. The people who work here were so friendly; definitely one of my favorite places I visited in SoHo!
We were working in the area and it 15 degrees outside. We needed to warm up when we stumbled across this place. Looks like this is a popular place for the locals since the bartender knew everyone. We had an Irish coffee and it was killer. The food looked really good and the bartender was super nice. Stop in and grab a drink. Cheers.

I like the place. Irish bartender is on top of her game. Dogfish 120 is a nice throwback beer. No complaints. Wouldn’t mind coming back to try their burger.
We went to Fanelli cafe on the first night of our stay in NYC - what a great find! The cafe was busy with locals even on a Monday night - always a good sign - but the owner managed to squeeze us …
Not cheap, but cheerful. This New York bar/ restaurant is a classic hit but also can be a tourist trap. Good for pre dinner drinks for people watching in Soho. Got the chicken strips and they were actually pretty good, just pricy. I recommend but know what you’re getting into when you sit down at this NYC staple.
Fanelli Cafe is the perfect spot for a cozy escape on a cool, rainy day. It can get so crowded here that I have often just avoided it for years (decades actually). I was lucky this past Friday. We stopped in for just a coffee and a shot of bourbon and some time to write and talk, but the atmosphere was what really stood out. The old boxer photos lining the walls gave it a nostalgic charm, and the staff was genuinely friendly. Whether you're there for a quick drink or to soak in the history, it’s a timeless gem in the heart of SoHo. You can definitely feel the old school charm here and you definitely want to taper your expectations but for me, it's the sort of old, beautiful, beat up that I like.
We walked into this café on a beautiful sunny day and chose to sit outside to enjoy the weather. The food was delicious—simple yet full of flavor. The breakfast sandwich was particularly satisfying and hit all the right notes. However, the service was not very attentive. Our waitress forgot two items from our order and rarely checked in on us. We also ordered a drink that never arrived, even though we received our food first. While the food was great, the service could use some improvement to match the quality of the dishes.
We came here for a late lunch after walking in Soho for hours. There was a lineup, so we put our name in and waited for tables to become available. The good thing was that it was fast and we only waited for 15-20 minutes. It’s a cozy café that has a “home” vibe. The staff are friendly , too. We ordered beef chili and Fanelli Burger with Fries and enjoyed our food. Chilly was definitely our favorite.
Super busy place and full of tourist :D, LOL. My friend and I want to try anyway as we saw line up and this place is crowded. Honest review, I actually went to this bar many times and all the time before I didn't get any table or even space to stand. I don't understand obviously, why people are killing to hang out at this place. On the wall, they have nice old picture of many famous people. Food is American style, nothing special or high quality and I understand as full of customer the server hardly goes to every table. All I wanted to say is as I was able to get a table, I complete the task and that it! I don't want to come back or if it is not too full of ppl, maybe? My friend and I shop in Soho often and after shopping we like to have place to rest and hang out.

They are always busy, waitresses are usually nice and the food is always decent - fries are delicious! A solid, classic SoHo haunt for many years.
Perfect place for American food in soho! Love the ambiance & their staffs are friendly!
As both a Downtown local and a Fanelli's regular, it's true, the staff is generally miserable and one we just put up with because it used to be a descent space to drop by for drinks between events …

Stop in for the atmosphere and drinks at the bar, old school New York spot - stick to the burger. Don' know if it was on off day, but fries were bland, tasteless and soggy,
Probably hands-down the worst meal I had in New York during my trip there. Burger bun was soggy, patty was unappetizing and a bit slimy, and the fries were so dry that even the ketchup couldn’t save them. Resturant was also very crowded and noisy inside. It was very dark and cramped feeling. The cup they gave me with water also some sort of food or plastic particle hanging off the side which was gross enough that I did not touch it once despite the food being so dry. We also ordered some chicken fingers which weren’t as bad as the burger but they were also quite tasteless even with the sauce. Overall, I would not recommend this place. Food, service, and atmosphere are all subpar despite it not being cheap. You can get better value at restaurants in the tourist trap areas near Times Square for not much more.
Winter resort for flys. Seriously gross .OMG. It smells like a pet store, dirty beer glasses with some type of debris floating on the surface. Place is like drinking in a men's room. Only cool thin…

Awful service and very bad food... Cannot believe how they can be so many years open... Nothing positive to comment... Waiters do not attend you, you must look for them to be serviced.. Sorry for…
In all my years of dining out, this was by far the worst experience. Mostly because of the service. We were seated outside and when the waitress girl with longer brown wavy hair pulled into a braid in back, came to take our order, she didn’t write anything down. She just walked up to the table and stared at us with an irritated look. Then she said, “what do you guys want?” She didn’t ask if we wanted a salad or fries with our order (I realized later that we had a choice) and she got one of the orders wrong. One of our party had to get up and go ask at the front for some ketchup (because the bottle we were given had very little ketchup) and more water. The water glasses were tiny. She didn’t check on us to see if we needed anything. The BLT was okay but the steak sandwiches and cheeseburger, which was supposed to be only a burger were mediocre, according to the rest of our party. The waitress was cold and inattentive and acted as if we were putting her out. While we were still eating after we got our food (which was about 20 minutes) the cold waitress came up and started taking our plates. I wasn’t finished with my food and she started taking my plate and I had to grab my sandwich off the plate. She didn’t offer any take out bags/boxes and just walked away. Then she brought the card machine for payment and stood there looking at me and was watching what I was putting in for a tip. It was very intimidating and her service did not warrant a tip. We did not leave a tip and she went over and started talking to the owner and was pointing at us. We left and I would not return to this place. It really surprises me that based on others reviews of what sounds like the same waitress, that she is still there and her behavior condoned by management. I hope that some day she will find the right job for her personality.
