My parents are from Sichuan/Chongqing and I can tell you this is easily one of the best, if not the best, Sichuan/Chongqing spicy Chinese food restaurants. They use fresh red chilies in many of their dishes. Some other dishes feature freshly ground green peppercorn, and various kinds of pickled chilies. If you’re an expert in Sichuan cuisine, then you’d know that the peppercorns need to be freshly ground and the chilies need to be freshly picked as well, and this place does exactly that. The spice level for the dishes here are truly authentic, and they add some creative twists to traditional recipes as well , e.g. the cold chicken appetizer is a modern twist of the classical “mouth watering chicken”, except they use fresh limes instead of vinegar, and fresh mint leaves instead of cilantro. Their menu changes regularly. Every time we come there seem to be new dishes to try out. The menu clearly indicates how spicy each dish is: even the one pepper sign can be really spicy for most Americans. If you love spicy Chinese food, this restaurant is just perfect for you! (If you don’t love spicy food, they do have some non-spicy dishes)

Incredibly gas Chinese food in Manhattan! We got the 干煸四季豆, Mapo Tofu, Xiaolongbao and one more chicken dish I can't remember. Everything was exquisite with a deep and fresh taste without too much MSG. In particular the dumplings were so juicy. 10/10 would recommend!

I loved the squash puffs that look like mandarin oranges, and the okra salad was really good. The duck was tasty, lean, but also a bit plain. It was a good amount of food for two people, maybe three could share it and order one or two more appetizers. I would go back to try other things from the menu.

Uluh is a great option for elevated and authentic Chinese cuisine. I enjoyed the green mapo tofu and string beans with eggplant. Everything else I tried was good but not notable. The mapo tofu was very flavorful and had a unique color. This restaurant was very spacious and accommodated our party of 4 for a walk in on Friday evening. I enjoyed and would come back! The dishes are pretty and the decor is dark and moody.

While I may not have eaten all the soup dumplings in the Big Apple, I know that the ones I have eaten were not particularly good. Here at uluh’s the pork soup dumplings are the finest in all of Manhattan. These have wafer thin translucent skin bursting with hot flavorful broth and enough meat. This was my second visit. I enjoyed it. The scallion pancakes with shredded duck on the other hand was served almost cold. I ate it but complained to the server. Last lunch I ate tasty beef ribs with rice as rice is not included with a dish. The restaurant is pretty and large. The location is excellent as it's bang next to La Cabra.

We came here as a group of three and ordered four dishes — everything was fantastic! The Peking duck was absolutely bomb, and the spicy fried chicken was another favorite. Service was great, and Jasmin gave us amazing recommendations that made the meal even better. Definitely coming back for sure!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Everything we ate was 💯. My favorite was the wontons in chili oil (not spicy, loved the bit of tanginess). The Peking duck was excellent. Pork dumplings and crab tofu dish (roe not meat). I just didn’t like where they seated us which was by the entrance where all the parties of 2 were. If you go deeper inside, it’s quieter and more spacious. Feels like they could give some of that space to the parties of 2 because it was kind of cramped but not terrible.

Soy stir fry cabbage is a lot better than it sounds, and all the spicy food we ordered was solid.

Came by for lunch but this would definitely be better in a big group so you can try a little bit of everything. The pork trotter had good seasoning — though I’m personally not a fan of the texture, it was nice to try out for the sauce. The sichuan fried chicken was standard; I would’ve liked to try something else. There are many different options so I’d love to come back for the other dishes.

We were going to UBC for a show and decided to have dinner at Uluh. Nice interiors & seating outside too. We were four of us and ordered drinks and a bunch of dishes. Everything was delicious and sufficient for the 4 of us. Highly recommend the chicken soup dumplings, spicy chicken friend rice with pepper, kung pao chicken, Woodear mushroom salad & the shrimp. The desserts were amazing too especially the lava cake. Highly recommend a visit to Uluh if you’re in the area and looking for an upscale place to eat delicious Chinese food.

We love the pecking duck and the pickled cabbage fish here. In general, the food is VERY spicy. I usually have to mild and it’s still very spicy but manageable. The green beans and crab roe tofu are also great choices. For appetizers their little pan fried buns are delicious. Lines can be pretty long on weekends around prime dinner time, but we came for Sunday dinner and were able to walk right in! There are around 4-5 outdoor tables as well. Interior is beautiful and a great place for a date, dinner w friends, or take your parents out. I would focus on the food and skip the dessert. Very authentic and clean tasting Chinese food - not greasy. One of my favorites for sure. Takeout is great as well!

Their food were all very good! The green mapo tofu with shrimp was quite unique. It had some strong mala taste, but I enjoyed it! The spicy chili fried chicken felt a little sweet for some reason.

Uluh has a beautiful dining room with a modern and sexy vibe. The food is delicious and spicy. Everything I ate was packed with flavor. I loved the presentation of the duck and the soup dumplings. We will definitely come back!

Warning - if you can’t handle spicy food, this place is not for you. Fish with salted cabbage is so rich- I def recommend getting this. Beef in chili oil was good but didn’t really standout. Mango sago was a perfect choice to end the meal

Uluh, a reversed nod to “Hulu” (the gourd), was the first creative Chinese restaurant our family discovered—and rediscovered. I’ve forgotten the names of most dishes by now, but I’ll always remember the tenderness of the pig feet, the glossy duck skin, and the thrill of something bold yet familiar. It was comforting and surprising at once. A place that made us feel like something new was possible with food we thought we already knew.

My daughter and I had an absolutely wonderful lunch at Uluh. The restaurant itself is stunning—modern and elegant with a clean, welcoming atmosphere. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive; our waiter took our order promptly and answered all our questions about the menu with ease. Every dish we ordered was a standout. The scallion pancakes with duck were perfectly crispy on the outside with a tender, flavorful pulled duck interior. The chicken soup dumplings came in a beautiful pink and were warm, hearty, and packed with bold flavor. We also enjoyed the woodear mushroom salad, which was fresh and vibrant with just the right touch of garlic and red pepper, all brought together by a light soy dressing. The truffle fried rice had just the right amount of truffle essence, paired with fresh peas—an elegant and satisfying finish to our meal. To accompany everything, we sipped on pots of jasmine and rose tea, which were fragrant and soothing between bites. Uluh is a rich and refined Chinese dining experience, full of authentic flavors and thoughtful touches. I will definitely be returning—and bringing friends and family with me next time. Highly recommended!

Exceptional Sichuan cuisine with brilliant presentation, amazing flavors, decent portions (if they say spicy it is pretty spicy but spice level is clearly specified) with above average prices that are worth it. Don't miss the tea. Strongly recommend. Our favorites were the teas (wild rose, chrysanthemum, oolong, wide variety and stylish presentation), mapo tofu, crab egg tofu (mild and would help reduce the heat), stir fried okra, fish in green peppercorn (spicy) and the dessert dimsum pumpkin puff (heavenly and ideally single bite) and rose lychee panna cotta. The dessert selection is very good for Sichuan restaurant.

Really decent sichuan food!! The cabbage is banger and the sauerkraut fish is good too! Scallion pancake was also nice and crispy. Would skip the dim sum though.

Nice ambience. Delicious food. Be careful in choice selection. Menu denotes spicy level from 1 to 3 peppers 🌶️. The chili pepper chicken was 3 🌶️ and there was more peppers than diced chicken pieces ratio. Dine early 5-5:30pm otherwise would need to be waitlisted. Not a place to eat leisurely and linger as tables need to be turned over. Love both the mango sago smoothie & the passion fruit tea drinks.

This is an elegant restaurant in St Marx area, excellent for soup dumplings and a variety of tea. Tea has a huge section in their menu and very popular with visitors. They serve the mixed soup dumpling basket that has veggie, pork, chicken, crab, spicy , total of 7 different kind and colors of dumplings. All of them are super good. We tried the dim sum sampler which also had some good pieces. I wasn’t fond of the fried duck, it was too dry for me. Having some sort of dipping sauce would have helped. I also wasn’t expecting egg yolk lobster to be the way it came out. I didn’t find any taste in the lobster being baked with egg yolk. The staff at the restaurant are very sincere, they follow up constantly. Food is prepared within a quick time.

Crab soup dumplings were OK. Not much crab flavor. Would not order again. However the suimai is outstanding it's the best I've ever had. Cucumber salad is also the best I've ever had. I would go back for those things alone. The duck was underwhelming. I got another beef dish that I'm forgetting the name of but it was really bad. Way too much Szechuan peppercorns the dish numbs your mouth with no other flavor other than Szechuan peppercorns. Not in a good way. I love Szechuan but this was horribly executed.

Definitely more of a younger/trendier place than somewhere to get a good quality food. Close to NYU, almost all of the clientele are uni students. I’d go somewhere for better quality Chinese food but this works in a pinch. Brown sugar duck was meh, don’t recommend. Green Mapo tofu was meh, good to try since it is something unique.

It used to be my favorite go-to Chinese place, but now with the new chef it has gotten much worse. They removed our favorite appetizer (the mushrooms) from the menu, and the rest of the dishes have changed completely. Now everything is just oil and spice - impossible to eat! We even had to send them back to the kitchen, which I could never have imagined doing before when I used to visit Uluh a few times per month. At the very least, please don’t change the Peking duck!
