Mr. Masala Alhambra Reviews
First time trying Indian cuisine. Great experience. The ambience, the music, the sambosa and mango drink 👌🏾🔥
Honestly one of the best Indian restaurants in the Downtown LA area. The bearded young waiter was so polite and served us with the largest smiles which makes a hell of a difference. We ordered 3 combos among 4 people and the waiter was nice enough to split the common elements such as the soup or the dessert four ways without us even asking for it. He referred to my parents as My uncle and my Aunty; and suggested the best dishes; brought the food promptly… We went there a second time within two days bcoz that’s how much we loved the food and the service. Highly recommend it to anyone who loves and knows Indian food. After such amazing service; I’d give them like 100 stars! Must visit or take out! We loved the grub. Highly recommend to all Indians.
This is the best Indian food I've ever had. Absolutely have to come again and try everything else on the menu. I had pineapple chicken, I cannot recommend it enough! Sweet dish, loved it!
Mr. Masala is my go-to Indian spot in downtown LA. The prices are reasonable for the generous portions, and at this point I’ve probably eaten half the menu—everything has been consistently delicious. But the real reason I keep coming back is the naan. It’s hands-down the best I’ve had anywhere: fresh out of the oven, perfectly blistered, impossibly flaky, and soft with just the right chew. Slightly crisp on the edges, warm and pillowy in the center, and fragrant with butter—it’s the kind of naan you could eat on its own and still be happy. One word of caution: be mindful of the spice level you order. This place is the real deal—when you ask for spicy, expect Asian spicy, not Americanized spicy. If you’re here, don’t skip the naan. Honestly, it’s reason enough to come back. I've dined there several times but I mostly take out. The inside has a cozy intimate feel to it. But they usually aren't busy weekdays. Probably because most people take out.
I love this place the food is amazing and they deliver late into the night. I'm a college student and this is my go to for comfort and good luck. This food genuinely makes me happy it's crazy. And I have superstition that eating this before any big event will give me good luck. So delicious, would definitely recommend to everyone.
I ordered from this place on uber an it is so yummy! I absolutely love the medium chicken curry I received :). I also appreciate how the container they give you for it is microwave safe. I heated the leftovers up the next day for lunch and it was just as delicious.
I had lunch here today, I selected the lamb curry. The sauce was delicious and the lamb was tender. The staff was very attentive. They have a lunch special price which makes it more affordable and it was worth every penny! The food and service are great. The atmosphere is simple and casual, but not bad. I highly recommend this place based on my experience!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely delicious! The Butter Chicken Combo from Mr. Masala was rich, creamy, and full of authentic flavor. The chicken was perfectly tender, and the sauce had just the right balance of spice and sweetness. The garlic naan was soft, buttery, and paired beautifully with the curry. Portion size was generous, and everything tasted freshly made. Highly recommended for anyone craving real Indian comfort food!
Mr. Masala is an excellent restaurant with truly delicious food! The flavors are authentic, fresh, and full of taste. Every dish is prepared with care, and you can tell the quality of the ingredients is high. The service is also very welcoming and friendly, which makes the whole experience even better. If you’re looking for a place with great food and a warm atmosphere, I highly recommend Mr. Masala. Definitely one of the best spots to enjoy a flavorful meal!
This was such a great experience. My first time trying Indian food and it was the best. The customer care was amazing and they went as far as to teach us how to eat it properly. They kept checking up on us to see if everything was okay. The food quantity was amazing. More than what you could ask for definitely. Safe to say will come again. They also attend to you fast which is amazing.
I know this place looks like a hole in the wall but don’t let that discourage you from eating here. The food, service, and atmosphere were amazing! I got the chicken samosas, garlic cheese naan, chicken tikka masala combo and thankfully had enough to bring back home with me! I will definitely come back here when I am back in town! I would highly recommend!
I dine alone, and that is problematic at Oriental restaurants. This place has combos including soup, naan, and dessert. Portion was still more than I could handle. I ordered their lamb vindaloo. Combo started with a very tasty lentil soup. Naan was wonderful. I ordered my entrée hot and it wasn't very hot. I was pleased with everything. Rice pudding to top things off. Happy I chose this place.
An Awesome Indian restaurant serving Indian cuisine, snacks with authentic Indian superb taste. We took away samosas from this place while on way to USC, LA for our daughter's convocation ceremony. The samosa were hot and had great taste. Nice clean Indian restaurant right in the heart of downtown LA. Loved it..👍🏻🤩
This review is based on a Uber eats delivery and I assume it’s better in person. I ordered their garlic naan, rice, butter chicken, lentil soup and chicken samosas. The garlic naan was descent, I was expecting more garlicky and buttery but I think that’s how naan is normally. It was still good, the samosas was the best out of the bunch. Tender chicken and perfectly seasoned with flaky/crusty crust. The lentil soup was also descent and about average. The butter chicken was delicious, solid curry flavor but the chicken was pretty dried out and hard. Not as tender as I wanted it to be, but still a delicious entree. The rice was about average also. I’d definitely order from this place again and I pretty sure it’s better in person.
To be honest, the food just isn’t that good here the way they season it. It doesn’t seem like traditional Indian food. Also there wasn’t a nice thickness to the curry. It was very watery. The spiciness was there, but from the rice pudding to the garlic naan to the actual entrée chicken korma it was just lacking flavor and the texture that I was looking for for a traditional Indian Cuisine.
Was almost going to have a good experience. Ria was nice and patient. I had food restrictions because of my diet. Upon leaving, the lady that I took a picture told me to take the trash outside the building to the streets. Respectfully I did spend money to eat here, it was rude gesture to have me spend money here and have to throw anything outside to the streets. Then she called me stupid and to get out. I regret purchasing anything from here. I never made any disrespectful remarks nor was I being rude at any point. This should not be tolerated. I eat food in the area, this is disrespect to my mine and money. I wanted to like this place but morally speaking it's not worth coming if this is how they treat strangers. I hope people are aware that this kind of activity is going in this business. Love supporting local businesses but my time and money have value and it would not be spent here. She claimed to be the manager. food wise: very important details to consider- just because it's vegan/ doesn't mean it healthy. I had the vegetable potato Samosa - it's deep fried with canola oil (extremely processed oil) consuming oils like these make vegan/vegetarian options unhealthy. It's almost like eating a McDonald chicken nugget. Not saying this in a negative tone, just sharing honest thoughts. The potato was bland, typically with food like this, spices sometimes make up for the dish but unfortunately it didn't. Just a potato deep fried with bread. Lentil soup- had a broth feel to it, it also lacked taste and flavor. It wasn't horrible, it just wasn't great either. This is important because when it's a lentil soup something has to stand out about it, it's a healthier option so the taste makes up for the dish being a healthy. Upon asking, they also add canola oil to this soup. ((Not as much as the other foods on the menu, but still heavy and that gets people bloated) they should consider making foods with coconut oil. The place did seem to be clean. But people make the build what it is)
Funny enough the only reason I’m on this reviews page is because I’m sick with cold/flu, ordered this for delivery, and the food is so flavorless that I started worrying maybe I have Covid. Wanted to see if other people thought similarly or if I lost my sense of taste. Mind you, I ordered Indian because spicy food normally helps me when I’m sick. I ordered the second to most spicy level and for one, not spicy. Barely any heat. But worse is that I feel like I’m eating hot-water-flavored chicken and hot-water-flavored rice in a hot-water-flavored broth after paying 30 bucks. Worst Indian food I’ve ever had. Side bar: I’m not someone who likes to bash businesses. This is all my genuine experience, unfortunately.
This was disgusting. The chicken curry was swimming in oil, the masala tasted raw, and whole slices of onion were just bobbing on top. The samosas were soaked in grease and the chicken inside was half-raw. Whoever prepared this put in zero care it felt like they threw it together and boxed it up. Don’t charge people for this trash; if you’re going to serve food like this, at least donate it to someone in need instead of wasting customers’ money. I want a full refund never ordering from here again.
