Cattleman's Cafe Amarillo Reviews
Great little hole in the wall. My fiancé and I ate breakfast here while passing through on Labor Day. Not the most family friendly atmosphere, but food was great, service was great, and cost was even better. Id compare to a local Waffle House
They served a "Christmas Dinner" on Christmas Day. We ordered the Christmas Dinner Special and enchiladas. The Christmas Dinner was quite good. Turkey, stuffing, mac'n'cheese, green beans, corn, and Germain Chocolate cake. All for a very reasonable price. The enchiladas were a bit over cooked, but still pretty good. Service was excellent; with our drinks being topped off frequently. This cafe has been around long enough to be something of a legend in Amarillo. I am giving it a 5 Star for atmosphere, but it is important to note that they allow smoking in the cafe. It didn't bother me, but it might bother others.
Down home cooking great food good atmosphere and very reasonable pricing very friendly service
If you are ever in town here you have got to stop by this place! Food was great and our waitress Judy was amazing!! She told me she has been working here for 51 years, and that ladies and gentlemen is dedication. She is the best!!
Very laid back, wasn't crowded and the food was great! They probably weren't used to a young couple coming in but made sure to let them know they did a great job! It's getting hard to find these little cafe places with real human interaction. Will definitely go back when we are in town!
Don’t judge a book by its cover ……. My husband and I absolutely loved this place ! As soon as we walked in and saw the ash trays on the table we knew it was gonna be some good old school home cooked food ( & yes they do have a non smoking section) ! Reminded us of our grandparents and our upbringing . Food was amazing !!!!!! We had the chicken fried steak , onion rings and green chili cheese burger with bacon ! Sweet Miss Judy was our waitress and made sure coffee was full and we were well taken care of . Atmosphere was great and the 70s / 80s country music was on point . We will definitely be back !
Laidback, mom and pop, greasy spoon diner. Great service. 4 star food - not because it’s not good, you’re just not going to find things like Gouda or arugula on the menu. It’s what you’d expect from a small town diner and a unique experience. Smoking and non smoking. The ladies are sweet and on top of your needs. Coffee or tea is $0.99! Breakfast plate with 1 egg, sausage or 3 slices bacon, hash browns, toast or biscuit and gravy is $7.99. You’re not going to eat for that anywhere else in town. Full of retired folks and cowboys, it’s our favorite place to eat and people watch.
This is an old-school diner experience. One of the only restaurants in town where smoking is permitted. The booth seats are not padded. The waitresses are friendly, but probably not pretty, the coffee is good, and the chicken fried steak is the best in town. They don't like credit cards, so there's an extra charge when you use one.
I like the vibe of the place… well some say it looks outdated, but why we in a rush to modernize everything. New is not always better. Place is clean, and even is “smoking allowed” establishment no one was actually smoking during my meal. Food was simple and good. Customer service is amazing!
Good breakfast The waitress was awesome! Be aware, there is a smoking area! It didn't affect us, actually being old school, it reminded me of my childhood lol.
Good chicken fried steak. Credit card surcharge not appreciated.
We ordered from Grubhub because of the convenience of not having to get out. My wife’s order was correct but mine wasn’t. I ordered 2 pancakes with biscuits and gravy with extra gravy. I got one pancake and no biscuits and gravy. I did get the extra gravy just nothing to put it on. I called the restaurant and was told they could remake and I could come get it. That’s why I ordered delivery in the first place because I didn’t want to get out. They were paid for things that were never made but didn’t offer a refund or credit. There are too many other choices here. Probably my first and last time!
Can't rate the food. I walked out after standing at the register for 15 minutes with no one paying attention. One of the ladies saw me, but she didn't say anything. It seems like she could have helped me to order or at least said someone would be with me shortly. Newp. Do not recommend unless you like being ignored.
Went here for a late bday dinner for my husband. We wanted to eat in sat in non-smoking section, but the smoke was so bad in there is was coming to to our section then my asthma started acting up. So we ended up having to take out instead. He had the combination nachos with salad they DON'T use nacho cheese they use shredded cheese which was hard and he was unable to eat it, it was like glue! Mine and my son's food was not the best, but was edible. Chicken fried steak and huey burger. We were charged $.50 per to go container, then was charged $.50 each water we had, then charged $1 fee for use of a debit card. I know the cost of things has gone up, but at least make the food good and do something about the nasty cigarette smoke not everyone smokes or can be around smoke. I've been coming to this place since I was a child, it's not the same at all.
